We find our heroes finally back on the road, heading west towards Opelucid City, but right now it seems that they're on a bit of a break from travel. What could this be for now?
"Alright Elliot, give me everything you've got, Solosis needs some experience if he's going to be fighting in the next gym." Ash said.
"Shouldn't you also be focusing on Larvesta?" Rosa asked.
"One Pokemon at a time Rosa, that's the key." Ash said.
"Alright, Klink use Gear Grind!" Elliot called out.
"Solosis use Future Sight!"
Solosis glowed with a blue hue before getting struck from both sides by Klink.
"Klink use Gear Grind!"
"Solosis get them away with Telekinesis!"
Klink separated momentarily before flying back towards Solosis, the psychic type struggling to stop the gears.
"So why are you fighting Klink of all Pokemon anyways?" Rosa asked.
"Psychic is resisted by all of two types." Ash said. "The Dark type, which are immune to them."
"And the steel types like Klink, so in terms of endurance Klink is Solosis's best wall." Elliot remarked. "Now Klink use Automize!"
"Solosis once you're free use Psychic!" Ash called out.
Klink unpinched Solosis, coming back together, the two gears spinning at high speeds together before being blasted from the front by Psychic and the back by Future Sight at the same time, sending both gears flying.
"Klink!" Elliot exclaimed.
"Elliot I'm so sorry. Let's find the two parts of Klink, I'll head north." Ash said apologetically.
"Okay, Rosa and I will go south to find the other Klink." Elliot said, with the three trainers running off to find the two halves of the steel type.
"Will Klink be okay, having been hit like that?" Rosa asked.
"A bit weakened, but they'll be fine." Elliot commented. "Klink as a species are weak in their center in their first form."
"Oh, I guess that makes some sense." Rosa admitted. "Herdier have you sniffed Klink out yet?"
"Growf!" Herdier whined.
"Klink is a steel type, I doubt they have much of a scent that even Herdier's nose could track. However, Porygon2 might have a better chance." Elliot said, grabbing his normal types Pokeball. "Porygon2 to the air and use Lock On to find Klink nearby!"
Porygon2 rose into the air, searching around for Klink, before floating back down, pushing Elliot in a direction.
"Okay, okay I'm going." Elliot said, quickly heading in that direction.
"KSH KSH!"
Elliot and Rosa looked over some bushes to see one half of Klink being attacked by a wild Pinsir.
"Okay I recommend we just return Klink to their Pokeball and run before that Pinsir notices us." Rosa offered.
"Won't work, I need both halves to return him." Elliot admitted. "So I'm going to need you and Herdier to use Return with Work Up."
"And then?" Rosa asked.
"Porygon2 will use Ice Beam and hopefully freeze the Pinsir." Elliot admitted.
"Alright Herdier you heard him, use Work Up." Rosa said, careful not to be too loud.
"Herd Herd!" Herdier barked, hopping up and down.
"Now use Return!" Rosa called out.
Herdier leapt over the bushes, slamming into Pinsir, causing Klink to be set free, flying back north.
"Looks like Ash freed the other half of Klink." Rosa said optimistically.
"Rosa. Run." Elliot said, noticing the Pinsir had noticed them. "Porygon try to slow them down with Ice Beam!"
Back up north, a few minutes prior
"Alright, there is one of the Klink." Ash said, seeing a Klink piece lodged inside of a tree, as he, Pikachu, and Solosis looked down a hill. "And that is a Vespiquen between them and us."
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed.
"Okay, just be careful." Ash said.
Pikachu ran into the open area, zapping Vespiquen to get her distracted and away from Klink as Ash and Solosis moved in.
"Solosis use Psychic and free Klink." Ash said.
Solosis focused on the Klink piece, wiggling it little by little until it dislodged them, suddenly sending the Klink piece flying south.
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed, now being chased by a trio of Vespiquen and several Combee.
"And now we run!" Ash said, grabbing Solosis and running after Pikachu, away from the Vespiquen.
Back in the center
"Ash! Run!" Rosa shouted.
"Other way! I've got Vespiquen!" Ash shouted.
"We have a Pinsir!" Elliot exclaimed, as the two Klink pieces slammed back together, spinning with each other and creating sparks.
"What is Klink doing?" Rosa asked, as the two gears spun faster and faster.
"Duck!" Ash shouted, seeing the Pinsir leap at them.
"Look out!" Elliot exclaimed, seeing the Vespiquen trio also close in as the two gears of Klink launched out and back, striking all of the bug types.
"Duh, why am I running?" Ash said, grabbing Pokeballs. "Riolu, Larvesta, come on out! Use Blaze Kick and Ember on the Vespiquen!"
"Klink use Gear Grind on that Pinsir!"
Riolu leapt at one of the Vespiquen as Larvesta held off the others advances with his Ember, while Klink shot back and forth, keeping the Pinsir from grabbing them.
"Riolu use another Blaze Kick! Larvesta use String Shot!"
"Klink use Gear Grind!"
Larvesta wrapped up the trio of Vespiquen in his hot silk as Riolu launched into them, only to be distracted by a cry.
"Klink!" Elliot exclaimed, the Pinsir having trapped one and was pinching down on it. "Porygon2 use Psybeam!"
Before Porygon2 could act, the other Klink raced forward, spinning with all its might, as it began to glow.
"Well that's a new one." Rosa said as Klink grew in height, width and length, breaking itself free from the Pinsir's pincers.
"Alright Klang!" Elliot cheered.
"Not going to comment on that one." Rosa said at the name.
"Klang use Gear Grind!"
Klang shot around, striking the Pinsir and Vespiquen, causing all of the bugs to retreat, seeing they were now loosing the battle.
"You were amazing Klang." Elliot said excitedly.
"He was, but you know we never did finish our training earlier." Ash commented.
"Think you stand a chance against my evolved power?" Elliot questioned.
"You of all people should know by now that evolution isn't everything." Ash said smugly. "Solosis use Psychic!"
"Klang use Gear Grind!"
