Chapter 2

Protects hope

PLANET VEGETAVEGETA'S ROYAL PALACE | YEAR 737

The light that shone from the reddish sky of the planet Vegeta was a beautiful sight to behold. From the royal palace, Vegeta looked like an innately perfect world, at least what the planet itself was, for the people who inhabited it, on the other hand, were considered ruthless, cold-blooded warriors. Purging planets, killing innocent people and then filing a report with Freezer's army, simply provided the entire warrior race with a very bad reputation throughout the universe. That was a normal day in the life of a saiyajin.

Bardock smiled sideways, fixing his gaze on the beautiful twilight his eyes were witnessing, it was as if both moons and suns were merging, merging with the equinox, it was a wonderful sight from the highest place in Vegeta's palace. There were beautiful planets in other galaxies, and so many were the planets he had purged that he could no longer keep track of them all. Still, what was the use of so much effort if they would only leave Freezer profit, so he always enjoyed the last sunset on each of the planets he visited, he didn't know if he would ever return there or if Freezer would simply decide to destroy the beauty of the planet for his own purposes.

He never thought he would feel this way about his own planet, he didn't want to think that this might be one of the last sunsets his planet would allow him to see, nor did he want to consider the fact that his youngest son might never see a sunset on Planet Vegeta, that idea was not one Bardock wanted to conceive, but there was a chance that might be the case. He regretted that, but it was his planet or his race, he had no chance of saving both, at least not at the moment.

Prince Bardock! Prince! - Bardock sighed in frustration as he heard the shouts of a soldier coming closer and closer to meet him. Maybe everyone's habit of annoying him while he was pondering was rubbing off on the Saiyajin - I hope this ability to annoy me and shout my name all over the palace rubs off on the assassins who want to stab me in the back, can't they get there first and then talk? - The heir chose not to bother looking around, he was almost certain that his paranoid former companion Leek had lost his voice after shouting like a madman looking for him - Isn't it obvious that if I leave without saying where, it is because I want to be alone? - Hearing this, the soldier stiffened and bowed.

Sorry for the interruption general...I mean, crown prince - Leek remained bowing to his prince, while Bardock would give him a look of confusion, it had been years since he became crown prince, but he would never get used to that treatment from his former comrades with whom he worked on many missions - You don't have to do that Leek, you know I resent that treatment from all my acquaintances. Just talk - The soldier knew perfectly well Bardock's attitude towards his formalism, but he couldn't help it - I'm very sorry, prince...I mean, Bardock - It was a bit annoying for the prince to hear Leek's babbling, but for his sake he overlooked this kind of formal behaviour - To the point Leek - The soldier fixed his position and took Bardock's sarcastic gesture as an order, standing firm.

Of course, his majesty Gine is already out of the recovery capsule. I was assigned to inform you Prince - This comment made the prince smile, at last he could see Gine after spending months off planet and arriving only to talk to his pathetic father. That conversation didn't go well at all, but even so he wouldn't give up until his race or most of it was out of Freezer's sight - I'll be right there, surely Gine will want to say goodbye to Kakarotto before he leaves -Imagining Gine's reaction to knowing that Bardock planned to send his newborn son off the planet without giving him a chance to spend even a day with him made him very nervous. Surely Gine would not be so kind as to let him live after learning of his great hopeful plan. Angry Gine could be far worse than angry Freezer, and angry and sad Gine was a side he would never want to see from his wife.

As Bardock was lost in thought again, Leek tensed at the sight of the crown princess standing behind him, his countenance dropping the moment Bardock mentioned that he would be saying goodbye to his youngest son.

What the... Bardock, what are you talking about?! - The heir to the crown after hearing that voice fixed his gaze on Gine. He never wanted to blurt out such important news so abruptly, much less at that moment when he still didn't have any plans to talk to Gine. Simultaneously they stared into each other's eyes for a few seconds, while Leek looked at both of them, being afraid of Gine and feeling pity for his Prince - Thank you Leek, you may leave, I need to speak alone with Bardock - The soldier sighed with relief as he left the scene, giving a last look to the prince, who seemed overwhelmed, begging for help with his eyes.

Bardock, WHAT DO YOU MEAN KAKAROTTO IS LEAVING?! - Bardock knew his reaction would come with fury and despair, but there were also tears in Gine's crystalline eyes, surely Freezer would have more compassion for him than Gine would show him now - He was only born a few hours ago and YOU plan to send him AWAY FROM HIS FAMILY

Gine, I assure you there is a very good explanation for this - The calm tone of the prince didn't improve Gine's emotional state at all - I know it seems like a bad idea Gine, I need you to listen - The emotions were out of control in Gine's mind, but the serious tone with which Bardock addressed her, gave her back her posture, a tenacious and serious one that was waiting for Bardock's explanation - Don't try to make excuses, Prince Saiyajin! I checked Kakarotto's power, I know he's not very strong with only 2 units of power, but I won't let you send him away to become strong. Maybe he just wants a peaceful life and... - Bardock interrupted Gine, who was a sea of tears by that time - It's nothing like that Gine! - The Saiyajin woman was surprised to hear that and looked up to see Bardock - But... if it's not like that, why can't he stay with us?

That's what I was trying to explain to you. Kakarotto was born with a low level of power, I know that and it doesn't bother me or worry me. But he was born with a very high rank of S-Cells, the highest of all of us. You could say he broke a record - Hearing this, Gine changed his countenance from one of irritation and frustration to one of surprise and curiosity. He knew the significance of these cells, Bardock revealed it to him long ago, but that his son had the highest chance of becoming the legendary super saiyajin sounded far-fetched - Having such an exorbitant amount of S-Cells and being born with fast learning abilities, his training will quickly bring him to a great level of power in less than a year, with the right training he could surpass all of us by the age of 7. Gine...he is our hope to defeat the evil Freezer - Gine's eyes shone for a moment at the thought that her son could deliver them from that damned emperor, but the thought that for that he would have to be taken away from her made her feel empty and lost, she didn't know how to answer Bardock before his great arguments of why her son belonged more to the kingdom than to her, his mother. Bardock noticed this and tried to comfort her - We are being pursued by death, Gine. Freezer's order to all Saiyajin to return smells like global genocide to me. I won't let you or Kakarotto die along with this planet. I was planning to put Vegeta on high alert, but if there's one thing the King is right, it's that they'll think I'm crazy. No matter what it costs me, I will try to save our race," Gine focused her gaze on Bardock as the wind blew her locks of hair into the air. Her husband had great determination when it came to fighting, but also when it came to preserving. Gine looked at him earnestly until a small smile escaped her face. Bardock would live to tell this story another day and Gine would accompany Bardock in his despair - I trust you Bardock. Although, you have to promise me that the moment we are out of danger you will bring Kakarotto and Raditz - Gine's look proved her determination and Bardock knew that for her promises were sacred - I promise - Gine smiled completely after hearing her husband say that and jumped into his arms, taking Bardock unawares. They were the only truly loving couple on the entire planet, who would have thought that Vegeta would be ruled by sentient saiyajins at some point? The two smiled at each other and moved to sit on the edge of the balcony to continue their conversation.

Do you have a plan yet, Bardock? - I looked at the prince curiously, he seemed exhausted - Before you arrived I was thinking of one, but...the only way to escape is to make Frezeer think that we're still here - Both saiyajin looked at each other with concern, they knew that it was almost impossible for them to prevent Freezer from noticing their escape if they left, it was only a few weeks before all the saiyajin would congregate on the Planet, if they didn't think of something by then, the saiyajin race would be in danger of extinction.

It was a few hours before everything was ready for take-off to take Bardock and Gine's youngest son to the planet 4032-Green-877, called "Earth" by its inhabitants.

They headed to a place far away from civilisation to make a launch that was unnoticeable to both Freezer's army and the occasional gossipy saiyajin. On their journey, Gine held baby Kakarotto the whole time, wasting no second she had left with him. This farewell could be a goodbye forever, if they didn't manage to create a plan cunning enough to deceive Frezeer, they would most likely die and never see each other again, even so, Gine kept that small hope of surviving and seeing her children again, hugging them again. Bardock tried to convince her to go with Kakarotto and run away while they still could, to which Gine refused, she considered the idea for a moment, but she couldn't leave Bardock alone, they had been through so much in the years since, they got to the place they were today together and if they had to face death together, so be it.

Tooma, on the other hand, was a little nervous, for if Bardock's plan failed, there would be only himself and a little prince, surely as stubborn as his friend Bardock. The thought of it exhausted him mentally, but to consider that he was protecting the one thing that could avenge his entire race made him proud, for him, it was an honour to pledge his loyalty to the crown and since Bardock had ascended as crown prince, he undoubtedly owed him several favours. There was no longer any doubt, if he had to leave with a baby who would become a great warrior in the future to prove his loyalty, then he would do so, it would be like taking care of his little adopted nephew.

With a last farewell look, Gine left baby Kakarotto in his capsule and closed the door. Meanwhile, Bardock said goodbye to his great friend and battle partner, he was overly grateful to him for taking care of his son, not just any saiyajin would accept that job, especially if we are talking about a baby saiyajin, but Tooma accepted it without hesitation. Before leaving the soldier looked at his majesties and knelt in front of them.

Crown Prince, future King of the planet Vegeta and Princess Gine, future Queen. My loyalty to the crown is no match for my gratitude to the two of you. I solemnly swear that I will take care of the second prince and I will give my life for him if necessary - Both Gine and Bardock were speechless, the oath of that man had moved them in the deepest part of their being, the loyalty that Tooma had for both of them rejoiced them, Clearly in the Saiyajin race, showing one's feelings was an act of weakness, yet Bardock grabbed his friend's shoulder and gave him a confident smile. Gine watched the scene in amazement, Bardock rarely, if ever, showed any gratitude - I am truly grateful for this favour, Tooma. As the Prince of this planet, I swear to you that it will not be the end of the Saiyajin yet, no matter what Freezer has planned, I will stand in his way, no matter what - Both war buddies looked at each other with confidence and shook hands like great companions. Tooma entered his capsule but not before giving a little look at the planet and his great friends, he closed the hatch and at the right moment both capsules shot off into space. Gine and Bardock watched as they each left the atmosphere of the planet Vegeta and headed out of Freezer's reach. Gine began to cry from the deep-seated fear she felt at sending her son far away from his home, from his family, from everything he was - Goodbye... KAKAROTTOOO! - Bardock approached her and tried to comfort her while her eyes were still lost in the stars.

That night he had sworn an oath and he planned to keep it, no matter what.

VEGETA PALACE |THRONE ROOM

A gloomy, dark light was ever present in every corner of the palace, especially in the throne room. King Barack was receiving a dull report of arrivals and arrivals of thousands upon thousands of Saiyajins, nothing new or of interest to him, until Nion, a female Saiyajin, brought him some unusual news that might be of interest to him.

Your Majesty King Barack, I have been instructed to send you a report that will no doubt be of interest to you - The King fixed his gaze boredly on the woman, showing very little interest on her part - You may speak.

Thank you, your majesty, but this report requires a certain degree of privacy to share," the woman turned her accusing gaze on the many royal guards in the room. The King noticed this and immediately ordered them all, with a simple wave of his hand, to leave the room. "Good, now speak," demanded Barack, as the Saiyajin reviewed her report.

The second prince of the planet was born today, your royal highness. Both the prince and the princess, heirs to the crown, decided to name him Kakarotto - The king waggled his eyebrow in disdain, was that the big news? If it was so important to inform him of this, there would at least have to be something interesting in that simple revelation - What was his fighting power? Did he surpass the level of Bardock's first-born? - The Saiyajin woman decided to continue when she noticed a hint of discontent in his majesty's sign.

Not so your highness, Prince Kakarotto, in fact, has had the lowest level in the royal family on record, with only two units of power - The King's eyes changed from curiosity to total rejection, no one in his five senses would let such a weak prince rule a planet, much less give the position of prince to that weakling - Then why inform me of such a disappointment? If Bardock is smart enough, he'll send the kid on the first capsule off the planet. Unless he wants me to do it for him, in any case I would be willing to get rid of a being who would dishonour the name of the royal family - Nion looked seriously at his majesty, Barack removed that egotistical smile from his face and allowed him to continue.

That would be reasonable majesty, if the child did not have the highest S-Cell count ever recorded and not only that... his grandson, Prince Kakarotto, breaks his own record with every passing minute - The words that came out of the woman made the King's eyes widen as he checked on his own electronic device the S-Cell count of his grandson - How is it possible that a child with such a pathetic level of power contains more S-Cells than the entire Royal family put together!

And not only that. The prince was born with extraordinary fast learning abilities, meaning that his power could surpass the level of a distinguished warrior with the right training in less than a year, your majesty - Much was King Barack's surprise as he listened to every word Nion threw out. As he thought of every chance his grandson would have of defeating Freezer his whole world lifted in one fell swoop, at last that tyrant would feel the real pain - Don't waste any more time Nion. That brat will need to be as ready as he can be and his beloved grandfather will see to it. Where is the prince? - Barack was already heading for the exit with a lot of pride on his face, while a worried young saiyajin girl ran after him - That's the question majesty. The little prince... is missing - The fury the king felt when he heard those words made his blood boil - Then what the hell are you doing here! Send the whole army if necessary, find that baby, NOW! - That order made the throne room tremble - Yes, yes Majesty - Nion's voice trembled as he quickly ran to report this order from the King.

On the other side, a well-dressed soldier was walking through the doors of the throne room, something the King noticed. Arriving in Barack's presence, the soldier bowed courteously and waited for his highness to be given the floor.

What are you doing here, Vegeta? I thought I sent you away from my presence. Hearing such a simplistic name makes me realise just how dim-witted your parents were - That squadron leader seemed familiar with all kinds of mockery, so the comment didn't bother him at all - And so it was your majesty, although Emperor Freezer, before concluding my mission, strictly charged me with informing you of his arrival in a few days, perhaps his visit to the planet will be brought forward a little, although I can't be sure of that. What I do know is the arrival of the emperor's right hand man, I am talking about the soldier Zarbon who will visit us briefly tomorrow. He expects all the soldiers of our armies to be ready for a short survey - Those words did not please the King at all.

A survey? What kind? - Hearing this Vegeta III raised his countenance, fixing his gaze on the old King - I was not informed further, though I may say I tried to question them further, which did little good - The King was fed up with all these incomplete reports. Perhaps if he were as miserable as Freezer and treated his soldiers worse, they would give him information of relevance. But now was not the time for that - Well, whatever, anyway, it's not worth stopping that shameless Zarbon's visit - Having finished addressing the King, Vegeta gave a final bow and moved to leave - I never told you to leave, Vegeta. I have a little mission for you. As it happens, I can't find something of the utmost importance, not only to me, but practically a national treasure. I need you to lead your squad and find out its whereabouts as soon as possible. Apart from that I need you to find the crown prince and bring him to my presence, immediately - A thick voice that made the soldiers tremble without shouting was the wonderful gift that his royal excellency Barack possessed. That never worked with Vegeta III, he was a tenacious and proud warrior by nature, but too foolish and disobedient to work in Freezer's army for long. For his part, though, he was loyal to the Saiyajin crown and would never betray the King, no matter who held that position. That warrior with an air of glory and an intense desire for conquest always infected them on the battlefield. That was why he was an elite soldier, one that Barack trusted so much - All right, Your Majesty

I hope you found this chapter integrating. Hehe, in the next chapters a lot of things will be decided, believe me...it's going to be amazing 0 . 0

In some of the reviews you left me, I saw that you were worried about our dear prince Vegeta, who of course won't be able to be a prince as such here, but don't worry, I have very good plans for him and he appears in a few more chapters, don't worry.

As for Raditz, as you saw in the previous chapter, Freezer took him away . But, that doesn't mean that the same fate awaits him as Vegeta did in the anime.

As for the many offers from concept artists, thank you very much for being interested in my story, but I am also a concept artist and at the moment I have no plans to make a comic about this story. Maybe later when it's finished, but for the moment I'll concentrate on finishing my story, even so, thank you very much for your proposals.

I remind you again that, if I see that you like my work (sending comments or opinions and even new ideas) I confirm that I will continue it until the end, whatever happens, and although I will continue it anyway (because I write this story for fun and my own taste) surely with your good comments and opinions I will be even more motivated to finish it, so if you want quick updates I ask you a lot of encouragement in each chapter, I put my heart in everything I write (at least I try).

I hope you enjoyed it and thank you for reading.
