Hey guys, here's the first chapter of my latest story. This story takes place in an alternate universe, and it also focuses on Zoe Lee. That's right, this story will focus on Chloe's half-sister. A lot of people think she sucks, but I personally like her. That being said, her character could've been handled a bit better. That's where this AU story comes in. Here's the first chapter of Miraculous: Rise of Vesperia.
Nighttime had fallen in the city of Paris, the full moon looming over the city. All was quiet… until an alarm rang from one of the jewelry stores.
"Stop! Thieves!" the owner of the jewelry store shouted as three people is masks ran off with sacs full of jewelry.
The masked thieves hopped into a large van, chuckling to themselves as they drove away.
"This a nice haul. We're gonna make a killing," the driver said.
Suddenly, in a bolt of golden lightning struck the street several feet ahead. In it place stood a figure. Seeing the van, the figure swung their arm, sending out a wave of lightning that went through the vehicle. The van then split into two, the halves of the once whole vehicle falling to their respective sides as they slid across the street. Just in time to stop in front of the figure.
The robbers stepped out of the destroyed vehicle. However, the criminal gasped upon seeing who it was that wrecked their van.
"Oh, crap, it's you…" the driver of the van gave a look of concern.
Before them was woman in a black and golden yellow spandex costume. The black parts consisted of a sleeveless leotard, fingerless gloves that went up to the elbows, and medium-heeled, knee-high boots. Meanwhile, the non-black parts, the arms, legs, and fingers were golden yellow. The black parts of the suit had sharp, golden yellow stripes, while the golden yellow parts had the inverse. Completing the look was a black mask that covered her whole head, the mask having golden yellow trims, along with golden yellow lenses that gave off a wasp vibe. In the center of her chest was an emblem of a wasp with a lightning bolt shaped stinger. This costumed person went by the name of…
"Vesperia!" the three thieves said collectively.
"Wow, that's quite the haul you've got there. You know, the cops are about to have a major haul too…" the costumed lady said, police sirens blurring just as the cruisers pulled up, "Hauling you losers off to jail. See ya!"
Vesperia then took off, hopping several feet into the air before landing upon the roof of one of the buildings. The bug themed superheroine soon ran off in a certain direction.
Vesperia arrived at the hotel, Le Grand Paris. Leaping through the air from the building across from it, Vesperia did a front flip, landing on the balcony of one of the countless rooms via the superhero landing.
"Ahh. Home, sweet home," Vesperia said, removing her helmet, "Well, in a manner of speaking..."
Turns out, Vesperia was a teenage girl, one with blonde hair and blue eyes.
"That's enough of Vesperia for one night…" the girl said, removing her costume, now in her bra and panties.
The girl folded up her costume, putting it away into her backpack along with her mask, which she tossed into her admittedly large closet. With a stretch of her arms, she headed for the shower.
"Ahh…" the girl sighed with content as she felt the hot water hit her body. As she washed her body, she began to reminisce and chuckled, "Vesperia. Seems like only yesterday I was just regular old Zoé Lee…"
One Month Prior…
"Class, allow me to introduce our newest student, Miss Zoé Lee," Ms. Mendeleiev gestured to the blonde girl beside her.
Zoé attire seemed to be that of a skater girl. Her look was complete with a hoodie that was zipped up to just under breasts, lightly ripped denim jeans, high top sneakers, and a beanie. Her demeanor, however, seemed to be an upset one.
"Would you like to tell us about yourself, Zoé?" the teacher asked.
Now, normally, a kid would be excited to live and go to a new school in a new city. Especially one that was halfway across the world, and one as beautiful and glamorous as Paris. However, given the recent events of losing her dad, she was anything but excited.
"No. No, I'm good…" Zoé replied, "I will say that I'm from that I'm from New York."
"Well, Zoé, you've come at a great time. Today we'll be going on a field trip to the Science Center," Ms. Mendeleiev informed her.
"Cool," Zoé smiled, if only a little, "Hopefully nothing bad or weird will happen while we're there…" she thought to herself.
Little did she know, that's exactly what would happen.
The class was at the Science Center. After taking attendance, the class had started the tour. They had seen everything from a plasma globe to an anti-gravity waterfall. There was another kid from their school, Max, who was doing an internship here. He was even doing a public experiment… which flew over everyone's heads due to all the science gibberish he spewing during it. It even put some of them to sleep.
Eventually, they took a break for lunch.
"Hey, Zoé," one of her classmates, Aurore, asked, getting her attention, "Do you want to have lunch with us?" she offered, their other classmate, Marc, standing beside her.
"Uh… no thanks. Maybe next time," Zoé replied, walking off to find a spot to have lunch on her own.
Meanwhile, unknown to anyone, a black and yellow wasp had flown in through the ventilation system. The insect flew around the area. It had flown underneath a table where one of the scientists had accidentally spilled an unspecified chemical. A lot of it had spilled onto the floor. However, a few drops of it had landed on the wasp. Though it did not affect its ability to fly.
The wasp flew in a random direction, eventually landing on the enormous plasma globe. Coming in contact with it, the electricity from the plasma globe had channeled towards the wasp. The electricity charged the unknown chemical that the insect had been drenched in, causing the yellow parts of its body, as well as its eyes and stinger to glow bright yellow.
The wasp removed itself from the plasma globe and flew around until something caught its attention.
Zoé was sitting by herself on a bench, eating her lunch. She had packed her own lunch, consisting of a sandwich, soda, and cupcake. She reached for the sugary pastry, when a wasp landed on her hand.
"Eww, a wasp!" Zoé cringed. She was about to smack off, only for the bug to quickly retaliate by stinging her, "Ow!" Zoé winced.
While wasp stings normally hurt, this one felt even more painful. It almost felt as if she was zapped by a taser or something. The glow soon faded from the wasp. The moment it did though, the wasp removed its stinger and itself from Zoé's hand. It then flew off Zoé's hand. The blond girl scowled as she watched the insect fly out of a nearby open window.
"Ow…" Zoé muttered, rubbing the spot where she had been stung.
Zoé walked through the front door of her new home, Le Grand Paris. Though she felt worse coming back from school than she did going to school.
"Hello, mademoiselle Zoé," the hotel butler greeted her.
"S'up, Armand," Zoé greeted back with a two fingered salute as she walked, though she held her stomach as she did so.
The blonde girl entered her room, where she immediately headed to her private bathroom. The sound of vomiting could be heard, followed by the flushing of a toilet.
"Ugh…" Zoé groaned as she stepped out of the bathroom.
Feeling warm and slightly clammy, Zoé removed her clothes, stripping down until she was completely naked. She soon hopped into bed, quickly falling asleep.
The following morning, after an extremely long and deep sleep, Zoé woke up with a stretch of her arms. It seems all she needed was to puke and have a good night's rest because she seemed to be back to normal.
"What time is it?" she asked, reaching for her pants and pulling out her phone, "Huh, still early in the morning. Good thing it's the weekend."
Hopping out of bed, Zoé headed for the bathroom to do her business. The moment she stepped foot inside, the lights turned on. That was odd, considering she didn't even touch the switch. Wanting to straighten out her messy bed hair, she reached for combination hair strainer roller brush.
"Whoa!" Zoé dropped the object upon seeing it had turned on… without her plugging it in, "What the hell is—" she stopped herself midsentence when she looked in the mirror.
She gasped at what she saw. Surges of yellow electricity danced around her naked body.
"Uh, on second thought, I think I can go a day with the bed hair," Zoé told herself as she backed out of the bathroom.
The blonde girl looked down at her hands, a brief surge of electricity passing. This was freaky. That's when a thought came to her. She was perfectly fine yesterday… until she got stung by that wasp. That sting must've given her superpowers. Electric powers, to be exact. Question is… what could she do with them?
Her thoughts of her newfound powers were interrupted by her stomach growling.
"Heh. Can't think on an empty stomach," Zoé said, rubbing her belly.
She then put her clothes back on, though she quickly found they felt tighter than they did yesterday. Especially around the chest, hips, and thighs. Looks like she'd have some clothes shopping to do later in addition to getting something to eat.
Zoé came downstairs via elevator, her skateboard under her arm. She found the lobby of the hotel was empty, her family nowhere to be seen. Considering who her family was though, that was to be expected. Not bothering to tell anyone where she was going, she stepped out.
Who knows? She might find a use for her new powers.
Zoé skateboarded through the streets of Paris, looking for something good to eat. She was craving something sweet, sugary. Those cravings were answered when she came across a bakery. The smell of fresh baked goods coming from it was certainly enticing. Stepping inside, she was greeted by sight of rows upon rows breads and pastries. However, those paled in comparison to what really caught her attention.
In front of her was a girl with short, blue hair tied back into pigtails, and light blue eyes. Her attire consisted of a white shirt under and grey blazer with rolled up sleeves, pink jeans that stopped at her shins, and light pink ballet flats.
The girl in question then noticed her.
"Oh, hello. May I help you?" the girl asked her.
Zoé quickly shook her head, clearing the intense blush from her face. She cleared her throat.
"Yes, I would like a few pastries, please," she told the blue-haired girl.
The blue-haired girl grabbed a paper bag, filling it with donuts, cupcakes, and various other sweet treats.
"Here you go," the girl handed her the bag.
"Thanks," Zoé replied, taking it.
"Hey, I think I've seen you before. Aren't you the new girl that goes to my school?" the girl asked.
"Uh, yeah. The name's Zoé," Zoé introduced herself, "Well, thanks again for the treats. Hope to see you at school, uhh…" she trailed off.
"Marinette," the blue-haired girl introduced herself.
"See you at school, Marinette," Zoé replied before walking out.
The blonde girl hopped on her skateboard, continuing her day. A small smile came to her face. That Marinette girl seemed nice. And, if she were to be honest, kind of cute. She wasn't going to get her hopes up though, she was just a schoolmate. Unless Zoé was planning on going back to the bakery, it's not like they were going to see each other outside of school hours.
Zoé shrugged.
"Next stop, some new clothes," she said to herself.
Zoé was in the changing room of the clothing story she was currently at. Luckily for her, she managed to find the exact same clothes she wore in a slightly bigger size. She also found some extra clothes and accessories. That's when she heard several clicks going off.
"Alright, everyone put your hands up!" she heard someone shout.
Looking through a crack in the door of the changing room, she saw a trio of men holding everyone in the store hostage.
"Everyone just hand over their money and no one gets hurt," the head robber told them.
"Damn, and I thought things were going to be different when I moved to Paris…" Zoé groaned mentally. She looked at her hand, electricity surging around it briefly, "Things ARE different…" she thought to herself, her face forming to a look of determination.
Zoé aimed her hand at the wall. She inhaled deeply. Electricity channeled from her body, through her arm, and out her hand. Hitting the wall, the electricity short-circuited the lights and any security camera to turn off.
"What the hell? Did the power go out?" the head robber asked with confusion, not being able to see a thing.
Suddenly, all of the robbers' guns were electrified and sent upward, magnetized to the ceiling.
"What the…?" one of the other robbers said, only for all of them to be caught of guard when they themselves were electrified and magnetized to the ceiling, far away from their guns.
It was then that the lights came back on. A minute later, Zoé stepped out of the changing room with her stuff.
"Whoa! What happened here?" Zoé asked, feigning ignorance.
"We have no idea," one of the cashiers spoke, "One minute the lights go out, the next the robbers are stuck to the ceiling."
"Freaky…" Zoé said, followed by immediately and nonchalantly saying, "Anyway, I'd like to purchase these."
A few minutes later, Zoé stepped out of store, shopping bags in hand. She hopped on her skateboard and headed home. Just in time too, because she heard police sirens in the background. As she rode home, her thoughts remained on what just happened. She just stopped a potential robbery. She saved people, albeit sneakily. Honestly, it felt pretty good.
"Miraculous Ladybug!" she heard a voice.
Zoé looked up and saw swarm of magical ladybugs flying through the air. Turning her head, she saw two people standing on the roof of a building. One was wearing a red costume with black spots, while the other wore an all-black cat-themed costume.
"Pound it!" she heard them say as she watched them bump fists.
Oh yeah, she heard of those two. She remembered hearing about them when she moved to Paris. Ladybug and Cat Noir, she remembered they were called. They were the protectors of Paris that saved the day from various superpowered threats. Superheroes.
That's when a lightbulb went off in Zoé's head.
Over the next few weeks, akumatized villains terrorized the city of Paris. Whenever villains attacked, Ladybug and Cat Noir were there to stop them, one or more of their allies joining in occasionally. While moments like that were happening, average criminals would take advantage of that chaos to commit their own crimes, such as car thefts, robberies, and the occasional hostage situation. Or, at least, that's what they thought…
Whenever those criminals popped up, someone in a black and golden yellow suit would show up and put them away.
In one situation, the tour bus of world famous rockstar, Jagged Stone was tilting back and forth on the edge of a bridge, threatening to fall into the river. A news helicopter was flying above, recording the whole event.
"Oi, looks like we're done for. Never thought my career would end like this. I always thought I'd accidentally overdose or something," Jagged said, muttering that last sentence under his breath.
"Relax, Jagged. I'm sure Ladybug and Cat Noir will be here any moment to save us," his assistant reassured him, though she to be as worried as he was.
"Well, Ladybug probably will since she usually the one that saves the day," the driver of the bus commented, "Seriously, does Ladybug get all the love? Why can't Cat Noir save day get time in the spotlight for once?" he asked, felling surprisingly nonchalant about this whole thing.
It was in this moment that the bus tipped over. Both Jagged and his assistant screamed, holding each other as the bus fell. Suddenly, the bus stopped midair, floating just inches away from touching the water. The bus then levitated, floating away from the water. Everyone inside the bus looked to see the vehicle being surrounded by golden electricity. The bus was then set down gently onto the bridge.
Everyone stepped outside to see who saved them, a woman in a black and yellow suit.
"You guys ok?" the woman asked.
"Yeah, we're fine, thanks to you," Jagged's assistant said.
"Who are you? Wait, aren't you Queen Bee?" Jagged asked.
"Ugh… No, but I understand the confusion," the superheroine massaged her forehead, "I'm Paris' newest superhero. My name is Vesperia!" she struck her signature pose of her hand on her hip with the victory sign near her eye.
The wasp themed superheroine then took off, leaving the people she saved in an awed state.
Back to the present…
Zoé stepped out of the bathroom, a towel wrapped around her body, having finished her shower. She hopped into bed.
"Now I'm anything but regular," she said while turning on the tv, "But you know what? I'm ok with that."
And that's the end of chapter 1. I had some help with this chapter thanks to my friend I Write Big.
Since this is an alternate universe, I don't have to follow canon… and I don't plan to… for the most part. I will say this though, since Zoé is Vesperia in her own way in this universe, Chloe is still the holder of Bee Miraculous and still Queen Bee. Although, that goes without saying.
