Just a little idea for some Ruby whump that I randomly had. Set at the end of V2. Enjoy!

Okay so maybe Ruby had downplayed what Torchwick and the faunus he had working for him had done to her before the rest of team RWBY had arrived. She really hadn't meant to lie about it, but she figured that everyone was already annoyed enough at her for running off without them (even though it had been an accident!). Yang didn't need another reason to yell at her today.

Besides, she'd figured it really wouldn't be a big deal. Ruby had hoped that she could just hold out until they got back to Beacon, and then she could get her injuries looked over and crash for a while. It wouldn't take that long, really. She'll just have to power through.

But now that they've watched Torchwick get taken into custody and the adrenaline is finally wearing off, Ruby is starting to think that she might have underestimated how long it would take them to get back-or at least, she'd overestimated how long she could hold out. Everything is starting to hurt, and she's having to really focus to keep herself walking straight without drifting.

Focusing on what the others are talking about right now is beyond her, so Ruby stays quiet and concentrates on just putting one foot in front of the other. Her ribs are really starting to ache from where Torchwick's faunus henchman had gotten some good hits in, and she doesn't even want to see how bad her back must look. It's painful enough without seeing the damage.

It's getting harder and harder to keep up with the others. Ruby keeps stumbling over nothing and she has to slow down to try to keep her balance. Her head feels light compared to how heavy and clumsy her body feels, and she suddenly feels cold despite the warmth of her cloak.

Something is wrong. This isn't right. Maybe she's more injured than she originally thought?

It feels like the ground is tilting beneath her feet and this time Ruby can't keep her balance when she trips. She falls hard, hitting the ground with enough force to jar her already sore body. Her vision is starting to grow dark and she thinks she groans, thinks she hears someone shouting in alarm, but it's hard to tell over the ringing in her ears.

She's almost grateful for the noise and confusion and pain to stop as the black spots in her vision seem to grow and swallow her whole.
