The gang then jumped into the limo before it sped off down the street, as we follow it along the road. As it continued driving, the limo passed a sign that read: "Crystal Cove—the Scariest Town in the Country!"

And soon, it was driving through an area full of applauding people, most of whom were holding cameras and trying to snap some good photos.

The reason for all of this? A museum that was being dedicated to the various mysteries solved over the extensive career of Mystery Incorporated. And it was an enormous crowd, to say the least.

Ever since their reunion on Spooky Island, and their subsequent capture of Dr. Finneus Phibes and his subordinates, Mystery Incorporated had gained a hugely reignited following...and their celebrity status was bigger than any of the shoehorned guest stars they had to deal with before they broke up!

But unlike last time, they made sure the fame didn't go to their heads. In fact, the team was stronger than ever!

Velma got the credit she was due for figuring out the culprits, Fred didn't hog all the fame, Daphne was no longer seen as a damsel in distress, and Scrappy stole a lot of people's hearts.

And Shaggy & Scooby-Doo just did what they did best: eat, have fun, and work hard on having a good time.

It felt like the good old days, if not better. Mystery Incorporated was stronger after everything that had happened to it.

Sure, they'd just had a few minutes to stop by Burger King and get some dinner, but it made their sudden arrival all-the-more satisfying.

Soon, the limo stopped at the red carpet, and the driver turned towards them. "Ladies and gentlemen? We've arrived." he said.

The gang smiled as they opened the door to see the enormous crowd cheering for them!

Fred came out with Velma right next to him.

Cameras were flashing and popping all around, making Velma squint. As Daphne emerged, a few weirdos raised their shirts, showing they had tattoos of her face on their stomachs. She cringed a little as Mary Jane smile brightly, feeling like a movie star.

Izzy was thankful she brought sunglasses to shield her eyes from the flashes of cameras. And people called her weird for bringing sunglasses everywhere she went!

Scooby, Shaggy and Scrappy all chuckled as people clapped for them.

"It's a Shag-Scoob-and-Scraps-quakin', and the whole city's shakin'!" exclaimed Shaggy.

Scooby chuckled as he finished off his milkshake.

Scrappy did a few jabs and right hooks like a boxing champ, then put his fists in the air as everyone cheered for him and his friends!

The group saw their various fans applauding them.

Izzy's fans were all dressed in gothic attire. Daphne had her share of fan boys and little girls who wanted to be like her. Velma drew in the nerdier crowd; Shaggy drew in beatniks like himself; Mary Jane seemed to have normal looking fans; Fred signed many an autograph; and Scooby and Shaggy drew in more than a few dogs!

A glamorous female reporter showed up with a microphone and camera crew behind her. "Might I have a word with Crystal Cove's hottest detectives?" she asked.

Fred smiled. "But of course. What about?" he inquired.

"I'm Heather Jasper-Howe, for Crystal Cove News," the woman explained. "With all your success, are you certain you'll still have time for all of us in Crystal Cove?"

Fred chuckled. "The people of little old Crystal Cove can handle things just fine without us," he said, before he turned to the crowd and yelled, "THE PEOPLE OF CRYSTAL COVE ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD!"

The crowd let out a cheer at Fred's words. But there was an older man in glasses glaring from the crowd. From how he looked, he had a serious bone to pick with the Mystery Incorporated gang. He walked further into the crowd as the gang made their way inside of the museum.

Velma looked almost impressed at how fancy the museum looked on the inside, what with all the high ceilings and marble. At the very least, it distracted her from how itchy her fancy dress was...

And that was only the tip of the iceberg when it came to the scale of this place!

The main room of the museum was filled with the costumes of almost every single case the gang had solved over the years. Everything from when they were kids, to when they began travelling the world, etc.

Reporters were eager to hear about everything around them. But what was REALLY awe-inspiring were the multitude of costumes, formerly belonging to every baddie, creep, and sneaky shmuck that Scooby and the gang had unmasked over their long careers.

"How do you feel right now?" asked a reporter as they walked by the costume of the 10,000-Volt Ghost.

"Mystery, Inc. is proud to donate the costumes of the criminals we've unmasked in the past," Fred replied.

"Most of these costumes have been donated by either us or people who wanted to help the museum," responded Daphne. "Everyone from the Skeleton Men, the Pterodactyl Ghost, and the Titanic Twist are here."

Scrappy smiled in pride as they passed the Blue Scarab, his first case with the others. "Plus a few during my early years!" he commented.

Velma chuckled. "We've even donated some of the goofier monsters, like Chicken-Stein and Big Wig," she pointed out.

The other patrons got a good laugh out of seeing the goofy costumes on display, but Shaggy and Scooby's blood ran cold at the thought of those menacing monsters. Sure, they turned out to be weirdos in costumes at the end, but it wasn't like that made them any less dangerous!

Izzy kept posing with the scariest costumes while Mary Jane took pictures of her doing so.

Daphne noticed Shaggy and Scooby looking frightened and went over to them. "What's wrong?" she inquired.

"Sure, they're goofy," responded Shaggy. "But it doesn't diminish the fact they tried to kill us!"

"Relax, you guys," said Daphne. "Remember what I told you?"

"...image is everything?" asked Shaggy.

"Yes, image is everything," replied Daphne. "And the whole city's watching—so let's put on a brave face."

"Besides, there's nothing to be scared about, you two," Velma added. "These are just costumes, remember? No-one under them."

Shaggy, Scooby and Daphne had walked in front of the Pterodactyl Ghost costume, which looked... different, somehow...in fact, if they didn't know any better...they'd almost swear it looked lifelike!

"Like Velma said, it's not real," Daphne insisted.

As the redhead walked back over to Fred and Velma, Shaggy gulped. "She's right, Scoob. Up close...these guys look...totally fake!" he said, trying to convince himself.

For a minute, Scooby and Shaggy swore they saw the costume BLINK, and quickly ran over to where Scrappy and Izzy were.

Meanwhile, Fred, Velma and Daphne stood by the costumes of the Tar Monster and Black Knight Ghost.

"The Black Knight Ghost was one of our first cases we ever solved as teenagers," Fred explained. "And the Tar Monster had to be one of the most ambitious monsters we faced, scaring away locals from the city of Byzantius in order to take their treasure. But on the bright side, he'd pave your driveway for free!"

Mary Jane chuckled when she heard that, but then something caught her eye...or rather, someONE.

It was a rather handsome young man around her age, wearing glasses and a sharp suit. The whole world around her seemed to slow down when she saw heart seemed to skip a beat every time she looked at him.

And then...to her surprise, he was walking right towards her!

She froze like a statue, unsure what to do.

Fortunately for her, the man slipped on something and rolled right over next to her. So she wasn't the most ridiculous-looking there.

She bent down and reached over. "Um, m-may I help you up?" she asked.

"Thanks," replied the man as he got to his feet. "I should be fine, though..."

Mary Jane blushed. "Good to hear."

"Mary Jane," Velma said as she made her way over. "This is Patrick Wisely, the curator here."

"I-is that right?" Mary Jane asked. "W-well...I look forward to working with you and Velma on the ever-expanding exhibit..."

"Definitely," Velma said, but she could tell what was going on between them. "...I'll leave you two alone." And with that, she backed off, leaving the duo together.

Suddenly, there was a clap of thunder from outside, getting everyone's attention as it shattered the window, spraying glass everywhere!

KA-THOOM!

Reporters began snapping pictures as a ghostly green smoke began to fill the room.

The gang looked around in confusion and fear. "What's happening?" asked Velma.

At that moment, Daphne noticed some curtains covering the case that held the pterodactyl ghost costume. The curtain around was moving, as if a wind was blowing it about.

A slight green glow was coming from the gaps between the red fabric of the curtains. Curiously, Daphne went over to the curtains, and opened them.

Behind the curtains, was the Pterodactyl Ghost-and he certainly didn't look like a lifeless costume anymore. His eyes were sickly, bloodshot slits and his skin glowed with green-yellow light.

In that instant, the Pterodactyl Ghost broke out of the display case with an ear-piercing shriek. Once it was freed, the crowd immediately started panicking and running about the museum in a frenzy.

Daphne was knocked to the ground as Velma and Shaggy ran over to her.

"Alright, we need to make a plan," said Fred, amidst the screams of fear.

"Like, here's OUR plan: get the heck outta here!" Shaggy replied as he and Scooby ran behind the Gator Ghoul costume.

"Guys, stop!" called Fred.

"How CAN we?" asked Shaggy. "There's a UFO in here: undeniably ferocious object!"

"Come on, you chickens!" Velma called. "Help me out here!"

"I got it, Velma!" Scrappy exclaimed. "Puppy Power!"

As he and Velma ran to grab the ropes, another case was shattered: the Pterodactyl Ghost had grabbed the costume of the Black Knight. While the gang tried to stop the monster, none of them saw an imposing figure standing at the top of the windows.

"We tied it!" Shaggy called. "You guys can let go now!"

Scrappy and Velma leapt back from the curtains, and saw...that Shaggy and Scooby had tied themselves to the Pterodactyl Ghost instead.

"Oops..." Shaggy gulped.

The Pterodactyl ghost screeched into the air as they began to fly, grabbing the costume of the Creeper in the process. Shaggy and Scooby were pulled along, yelling in terror as they were dragged across the floor.

At that moment, an evil laugh filled the room. Everyone turned to the broken window, where the sound came from. Smoke surrounded a masked, caped figure hovering in the night sky outside.

"COME, MY PET!" the masked figure bellowed to the Pterodactyl Ghost, in a deep metallic voice. "BRING ME MY PRIZE!"

The Pterodactyl Ghost roared as they flew towards the masked figure with the two costumes in hand, and with Shaggy and Scooby hanging on for dear life.

As the creature flew across a buffet table, Shaggy and Scooby grabbed some pots and used them as sleds to protect their butts. It helped them surf over the hot serving dishes until the Pterodactyl Ghost flew higher into the air.

As it grabbed the 10,000 Volt Ghost's costume, Daphne picked up the sword that fell from the Redbeard costume. Quickly, she lunged into the air, and slashed the velvet rope that tied Scooby and Shaggy to the Pterodactyl Ghost's legs. Screaming, the duo tumbled onto the floor, falling into a pile of costumes.

"Citizens of Crystal Cove!" the mysterious stranger bellowed in his nightmarish, electronic voice. "This is only the first rung on the ladder of your demise! And this time, Mystery Incorporated, YOU'LL be the ones unmasked—as the buffoons you truly are!"

And so, he cackled wildly as he was whisked off into the night by the Pterodactyl Ghost.
