Henry spent the rest of the summer helping John prepare for his first year at Hogwarts, starting with teaching him to write with a quill. A skill that went into immediate practice corresponding with Cassandra in the evenings leading up to the big day. When said day finally came, John was once again accompanied by his mother and uncle, as well as his sister, who Hank helped sneak out of her house to be there. As much as his father wanted to see him off, he unfortunately couldn't, as it was a Tuesday, and thus, work had to come first.
John pushed his trolley through Kings Cross Station, keeping an eye out for other kids with a load like his, figuring that following them would be a good way to find his train. The one he ended up spotting made him absolutely certain he was on the right track. No boy his age could have hair that blue unless magic was involved. John approached the blue haired boy, not even registering the people he was with.
"Are you going to Platform Nine and Three Quarters too?" John asked as he pulled up beside the boy.
"He was just about to go through the barrier," the man accompanying the boy explained, "But you may have arrived at the right moment. Better to go through in pairs. Confuses the muggles."
John listened to the man as he soaked in his appearance. It wasn't as attention grabbing as the boys, but it was still striking. The messy black hair, vivid green eyes and especially the lightning bolt shaped scar. John couldn't explain why, but he felt like he was looking at someone important, who was making a serious attempt not to be.
"Potter," Henry called when he caught up, "rumour has it you've been steadily climbing the ranks as an Auror. What are you doing here?"
"Just seeing my Godson off," the man responded, considering Henry, as if he had seen him somewhere before, "You work with my brother-in-law in Romania, don't you?"
"Where do you think I heard the rumour?" Henry chortled, earning an amused smirk from the other man, "I see you've already met my nephew."
"Yes. Though, we haven't been properly introduced."
"Then allow me. John, this is Harry Potter. You'll be learning more about him at Hogwarts." John paid more attention to Potter's appearance after hearing that, "Harry, this is my nephew, John Doe. His mother Emily," Emily gave a curt nod with her introduction, "And my niece, Cassandra Belfry."
Cassandra excitedly shook Potter's hand, "I can't believe I'm meeting you!" She struggled to keep her volume in check, "You're my inspiration as a flyer! And your wife! But mostly you!"
"Well," Potter chuckled at Cassandra's enthusiasm, "I'm glad I'm being recognised for one of my lesser talents."
"Lesser!?" Cassandra exclaimed, almost insulted. Before she could get out of hand, her mouth was covered by Emily, who pulled her away from Potter before she could cause a scene, if she hadn't already.
"As for our group," Potter corrected the course of the conversation, if only to avoid the wrath of the nine year old, "You've met my Godson, Teddy Lupin," Teddy gave a timid nod to John, "and his grandmother, Andromeda Tonks."
"A pleasure," the older witch with them finally caught John's attention.
"So," Henry pushed the conversation along, "How should we do this?"
"As I was explaining to John," Potter began, "It would be in our best interest for the boys to go side-by-side to avoid attention," Henry nodded in agreement, "after that, I think the ladies should go next, if for no other reason than immediate family holding priority over extended family."
"Sound logic," Henry agreed.
"And, finally, you and I go last."
"Solid plan," Henry nodded, "Let's do it."
With that, the boys were lined up, John on the left, Teddy on the right, staring down the barrier. Both of them were a bit nervous, though it showed a bit more on Teddy's face. John took a shaky breath before asking the question that was likely on both of their minds.
"You sure we'll go through?"
"I think so," Teddy replied, looking at John, who was now giving him a 'You did not just say that' look, "It's my first time as well."
John readjusted his grip on his trolley, bracing himself for what he was about to do, "On three then?" Teddy gave him a nervous nod, "One."
"Two," Teddy said next.
"Three!" both boys exclaimed simultaneously as they broke into a full sprint. As the barrier drew closer, both boys braced themselves for the impact, but it never came. They opened their eyes to find that they had actually made it through. They both let out the breath they didn't know they were holding as they stared in awe at the train that was waiting for them. John gripped Teddy's shoulder and shook him in solidarity before guiding his trolley towards the train.
"See you on there," John parted with Teddy, only getting a shaky nod in acknowledgement.
John took in the sights. The train, the other students, even glimpses of some of their pets. He overheard one student brag about how his father had managed to breed an iguana with a cat and tried to sneak a peek when his family caught up with him.
"So," Henry placed a hand on his shoulder, "what do you think?"
"I think I'm gonna like this school." John stated.
...
Once his luggage was loaded, John roamed the train with his only carry on being a lunch his mom had packed for him. It was also at her behest that he changed into his robes before he boarded the train, though that was more so because she wanted to take a 'first day of school' picture before he left. He was trying to find a compartment that wasn't too occupied. Most of them were already filled with older students talking about what they were looking forward to this year. He didn't want to disturb them, so he just kept searching, until.
"Hey, first year." One student called out. John looked around and found the student who said it. He pointed to himself and the older student nodded, "You're looking for a compartment, yeah?" John nodded, and the older student inclined his head, "We have room in ours."
John nervously entered the compartment and found the other occupants to be about the same age as the student that called him out. They were both blonde haired girls with strikingly different personalities. One seemed more kind and welcoming, while the other seemed stern and abrasive. The student that brought John into the compartment had an appearance that he had seen before in one of his mom's shows on a love interest character. Though, whether he was the Pretty Boy type or the Hunk type, he couldn't be too sure with the robes. What he was most curious about was why these three were a group, especially with the seemingly clashing personalities. The stern looking girl saw him trying to piece everything together.
"Before you ask," She grabbed his attention, "We're both love struck maidens at war over his heart." she gestured to the male student while the kind looking girl made a swooning motion. The male student chuckled at the statement before the stern looking girl immediately dropped the facade, "I'm joking. We're sisters and he's just one of my astronomy classmates."
"Don't mind her," the male student leaned in, "she's only trying to be more representative of her house," the stern looking girl kicked him for that statement, "on that topic. Which house do you think you'll be in?"
"I'm not sure," John admitted, "my uncle said that I come from a long line of Gryffindors, but I won't know for sure until I get there." he looked at the older students, "What houses are you in?"
"Ravenclaw." The male student said proudly.
"Slytherin." The kind looking girl chirped.
"Hufflepuff." The stern looking girl stated.
"Everyone in our year thinks the Sorting Hat mixed them up," The male student explained, receiving another kick from the stern looking girl for his trouble.
It was at that moment the train started to move. John moved to the window so he could wave goodbye to his family as the Hogwarts Express departed from Kings Cross Station.

It is at this point that I welcome your Hogwarts OC's, especially since there are very few named characters from Teddy's time at Hogwarts. This will be VITALLY important since the next chapter is the Sorting Ceremony, which means I'll need lots of names. Reader participation will be greatly appreciated. And, yes, I would be in Teddy's tear, since he was born in April of 1998 and I was born August the same year.
