Meeting Calyrex
The next three days were busy for the Loud Crowd; they spend their free time training up their Pokemon in the areas around Freezington for the upcoming Rose Cup.
Lincoln's Cinderace learned Double-Edge, his Gyarados learned Thrash and Hyper Beam, his Boltund learned Play Rough, his Lycanroc learned Stealth Rock, his Alolan Sandslash got stronger, and his Lucario learned Extreme Speed.
Clyde's Gallade learned Quick Guard and Wide Guard, his Venusaur learned Solar Beam, his Incineroar, Urshifu, and Liepard got stronger. During Clyde's stay in Freezington, he found a Charcoal and gave it to his Incineroar to increase the power of his fire attacks.
Leni's Gardevoir learned Dream Eater and Future Sight, her Tsareena and Lopunny both learned High Jump Kick, her Ninetales got stronger, her Seaking learned Horn Drill, and her Glaceon learned Last Resort.
Lucy's Dusknoir learned Destiny Bond, her Gengar learned Destiny Bond and Dream Eater, her Trevenant got stronger, her Decidueye learned Brave Bird, her Jellicent learned Water Spout, and her Doublade learned Sacred Sword.
Lana's Salazzle learned Flamethrower, her Stoutland learned Reversal, her Sandaconda got stronger, her Seismitoad learned Muddy Water, her Excadrill Earthquake and Fissure, and her Tangrowth Ingrain and Grassy Terrain.
Luna's Gigalith learned Explosion, which she refuses to use, her Toxtricity got stronger, her Exploud learned Screech, her Politoed and Linoone got stronger, and her Falinks learned Megahorn.
Lola's Alolan Ninetales, Primarina, Whimsicott, and her Ribombee got stronger, her Sylveon learned Last Resort, and her Rapidash learned Psychic.
Ronnie Anne's Blastoise learned Skull Bash, her Luxray learned Thunder Wave and Crunch, her Lycanroc learned Stealth Rock, her Larvesta learned Amnesia, her Weavile learned Nasty Plot and Screech, and her Hawlucha learned Endeavor.
Sam's new Cryogonal, along with her Gourgeist, got a bit stronger, her Meowstic learned Psychic, her Toxtricity learned Shift Gear, her Gastrodon learned Memento, and her Steelix learned Double-Edge and Stone Edge.
One day when Clyde was training up his Pokemon, he comes across Peonia, who was hiding behind a large mound of snow.
"Hi." said Clyde, getting Peonia's attention.
"Quiet." said Peonia.
"What's wrong?" asked Clyde.
"Just get down." said Peonia, making Clyde leap behind the snow mound and next to her.
"Is there a super strong wild Pokemon around here?" asked Clyde.
"I wish." Peonia replied. "My dad won't stop bugging me about going to explore some local legends."
"Why don't you wanna do that?" asked Clyde. "It kind of sounds like fun."
"To you, maybe." Peonia replied. "But I'm not really into that kind of stuff."
"Have you tried telling him that?" asked Clyde.
"I made it obvious; but he just won't let up." said Peonia.
"NIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAAAA!" Peony's voice yells out.
"He's relentless." said Peonia with frustration. Seeing the girl's distress, Clyde decides to help her out.
Somewhere in the Slippery Slope area, Peony was wandering around, looking for his daughter.
"WHERE ARE YOU MY SWEET NIA?!" Peony shouts out.
"Pardon me, sir." Clyde says to Peony, getting his attention.
"Hello." said Peony. "You're that young man I battled a few days ago, right?"
"That's me, sir." said Clyde. "What are you doing out here?"
"I'm looking for my sweet darlin' daughter, Nia!" Peony replied.
"You mean that girl you were with when we first met?" asked Clyde.
"Yes!" Peony replied. "Have you seen her?!"
"I saw her a few minutes ago." said Clyde.
"Where is she?!" asked Peony as he grabs Clyde's arms.
"I saw her going that way." said Clyde as she points in the opposite direction of the snow mound that Peonia was hiding behind.
"Thank you!" said Peony as he takes off in the direction that Clyde pointed; Peonia was watching from behind the snow mound with a look of relief.
'My hero.' Peonia says with a blush on her face. When Peony was out of sight, Clyde heads back over to the snow mound.
"He's gone." said Clyde.
"I know; I was watching." said Peonia.
"What are you gonna do now?" asked Clyde.
"Go back to the Max Lair and do some more Max Raid battles." said Peonia.
"What's that?" asked Clyde.
"It's where you get some Pokemon to explore a large network of tunnels that have lots of Dynamax Pokemon in them." said Peonia. "Some are even of legendary stature."
"Sounds awesome!" said Clyde.
"If you ever feel like doing it, it's right over there." said Peonia as she points at a nearby cave opening.
"I'll think about it." said Clyde. As Peonia turns to walk away, she looks back at Clyde with a smirk.
"I never did thank you for distracting Dad for me back at the train station." said Peonia.
"No worries." said Clyde. Peonia leans down towards Clyde and kisses him on the cheek, making him blush.
"And this is for helping me just now." said Peonia before she kisses Clyde on the other cheek, making his face turn red; she then runs off towards the Max Lair while giving Clyde a wink, turning his legs into jelly and making him fall onto his back.
Meanwhile, back at the Loud Crowd's cabin, Lincoln and Lana were exploring the attic while they were taking a break from training their Pokemon.
"For a cabin that hasn't been used before, there's sure a lot of stuff up here." said Lincoln as he looks around at all the stuff that appears to be decades old.
"The people in Freezington must be using this for storage." said Lana.
As the two explored, Lincoln sees what looked like a big crown made of wood; he picks it up and brushes some of the dust and cobwebs off it.
"What's this thing?" asked Lincoln.
"I don't know." said Lana. Lincoln looks at the sweatshirt that Lana was wearing and notices the crown on the Pokemon's image looked like the one he was holding; he also thinks back to the statue he saw in Freezington the day he, along with his sisters and friends, arrived in Crown Tundra.
"I think I know what this is." said Lincoln. He then heads back down to the first floor, with Lana following after him, and the two put on their winter coats and exit the cabin.
About a couple minutes later, they enter the main part of the village where everyone greets them.
"Good afternoon, Lincoln and Lana." an elderly woman says.
"Hello, ma'am." Lincoln replied.
"We hope one of you kids wins the Rose Cup." an elderly man says.
"We're all gonna try our best." said Lana.
"Hey, Lincoln and Lana!" Luna's voice calls out, making the two look to see their sisters and friends, including Clyde who was stumbling, heading towards them.
"Hi, everybody!" said Lana.
"What's with Clyde?" asked Lincoln as he notices his best friend's strange behavior.
"Apparently, Peony's daughter kissed him twice." said Leni with delight in her voice.
"How come?" asked Lana.
"The first kiss was from when I distracted her dad when we all first got here." said Clyde. "And the second one was for leading her dad away when he was looking for her."
"What's that thing in your hands?" asked Lucy, making Lincoln look at the wooden crown he was holding.
"It's nice, but I prefer mine gold and with lots of diamonds in it." said Lola.
"I think it's the part that's missing from that statue." said Lincoln as he looks over at the statue .
"Let's put it back on." said Sam.
The group head over to the statue and brush off the snow that was on it; Lincoln then takes the wooden crown and places it on the statue.
"Good as new." said Ronnie Anne.
"Thank you." a voice calls out.
"Who said that?" asked Sam.
As they all look around, Lincoln looks behind the statue and sees a Pokemon that looked like a gray humanoid deer with long legs, four long ears coming out of its head that are holding a green crownlike object in place, wearing a robe with large green orbs that had blue triangles on them, and a green cape with multiple kinds of blue on the inside of it.
"Look!" said Lincoln as he points at the Pokemon, directing the rest of the group's attention towards it.
"It's the Pokemon!" said Clyde.
"It looks so royal and majestic." said Lola with awe. The Pokemon looks at the group, then nods towards a small clearing.
"Does it want us to follow it?" asked Leni.
"Let's go see." said Lincoln.
The group head toward where the Pokemon went and soon find it floating in the center of the clearing.
"Why did it want us to come here?" asked Lana. The Pokemon looks back at the group.
"Greetings, humans." the Pokemon says.
"Hello." said Lincoln.
"You can understand me?!" the Pokemon said with surprise.
"We have these things in our ears called PokeTranslators." said Lincoln.
"They let us understand what Pokemon are saying." said Ronnie Anne.
"I see." said the Pokemon.
"Who are you?" asked Leni.
"I am Calyrex." said the Pokemon now knows as Calyrex. "I am the one known as the King of Bountiful Harvests."
"You mean the legend the mayor mentioned to us before?" asked Lucy.
"Yes." said Calyrex. "There are no words to adequately express my gratitude toward you for restoring my statue."
"We were glad to do it." said Luna.
"My name is Lincoln Loud." said Lincoln.
"I'm Leni." said Leni.
"I'm Luna." said Luna.
"I'm Lucy." said Lucy.
"I'm Lana." said Lana.
"I'm Lola; the future gym leader of Ballonlea." said Lola.
"I'm Clyde McBride." said Clyde.
"I'm Sam Sharp." said Sam.
"And I'm Ronnie Anne." said Ronnie Anne.
"Was there something you needed from us?" asked Lincoln.
"In days long past, I reigned over these lands as king." said Calyrex.
"A king?" Lola replied with interest.
"Indeed." said Calyrex. "The humans offered me their loyalty and respect, as I was able to bring lush vegetation to the land and give them plentiful harvests year after year."
"Thus, your title." said Lincoln.
"However, it seems that over many, many years, the people of this land have forgotten my existence." said Calyrex. "They used to make offerings to me every year, but even that tradition has long since been lost to the ravages of time."
"That's terrible." said Sam.
"You see, it is the faith of the people that grants me strength..." said Calyrex. "And now I lost all but a fraction of my former my loyal steed has abandoned me."
"Disloyalty is something that shouldn't be tolerated." said Lola.
"However, you were all kind enough to restore my statue!" said Calyrex.
"Thank you." said Lincoln.
"That act has returned some strength to me." said Calyrex.
"Is there anything we can do to help you?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"I must know once and for all whether the people have truly forgotten about me." said Calyrex. "Could you speak to the villagers and ask if they remember the King of Bountiful Harvests?"
"Why don't you do that yourself?" asked Lana.
"I tried, but they treated me like some fairy-tale creature or flew into a mild panic at the sight of me." said Calyrex.
"Totes, rude." said Leni.
"Please, kindhearted humans. I beg you to help me." said Calyrex.
"We'll do everything we can." said Lincoln.
"I thank thee." said Calyrex.
