As Lincoln and his friends were leaving the mall, Lincoln couldn't help but continually admire the 'one-of-a-kind' card he acquired. This very card was a special reward for Lincoln's act of bravery in battling and defeating Puck and therefore saving the lives of the innocent. It was hard to make out the card's exact details since it was displayed on a touchscreen, but one could clearly make out that it was a Fusion Monster.

"Lincoln, watch out!" Mira cried, quickly pulling him aside from a mother and her toddler he nearly collided with. "Sheesh, Lincoln, that's the fourth time you nearly ran into someone!"

"Sorry, Mira," Lincoln said, still smiling and looking at the card. "I just can't believe that I managed to get this card so easily, all because I literally played hero! Oh, I so can't wait to try this out!"

"We're all happy for you," said Clyde, "but you should still watch where you're going!"

"C'mon, guys, let me enjoy the moment!" Lincoln said.

"Hey, Lincoln," Kero eagerly suggested, "howzabout we have a Game Duel when we get home, so you can try out your new card? I mean, you did offer me one before we had to go to the mall!" He playfully nudged Lincoln's arm with his elbow.

"I mean, I did offer you one," Lincoln thoughtfully admitted. "Alright, Kero, once we get home, we'll throw down!"

"All right!" Kero cheered with a leap.

It wasn't long before the four friends arrived at the mall entrance, just in time for Lori to pick them up in Vanzilla. As soon as the van pulled up, Lincoln was the first to race inside one of the passenger seats.

"Boy, looks like someone had fun," the smiling Lori remarked. Mira and Kero waved goodbye to Clyde before climbing into the van, seating themselves behind Lincoln.

"Oh, it was a blast!" Lincoln beamed as Lori drove off from the mall. "I met Ace Savvy, and get this – I actually have a card that's one-of-a-kind, and it's all mine!"

"Sounds like you had a good time, then," Lori said.

"More fun than you think!" Kero chirped. "He got that card because he defeated an evil robot that used a card that was about to steal his soul!"

Hearing those words, the horrified Lori abruptly brought Vanzilla to a screeching halt. "HE WHAT?!" she screamed.

Lincoln looked petrified, while Mira just angrily glared at Kero. After timidly moving his head back and forth, he innocently asked, "So… I guess I won't be dueling Lincoln, then…?"

YU-GI-OH! CHRONIXII

LEVEL 1-24
ACE SAVVY BEYOND

"Lincoln Albert Loud, you mean you actually fought one of those robot things?! The same kind of robot that attempted to assault Lynn?!" Lynn Sr. berated his son. He and Rita were harshly scolding Lincoln over the incident that happened at the mall, after hearing the news from Lori the moment the group got home. Lori was staring down Lincoln with angry concern, while Mira and Kero were innocently standing by, wondering if it would be their turn next.

"I swear, I had no idea where that robot guy came from!" Lincoln argued, throwing his hands. "One minute I was about to duel Ace Savvy, and then that guy shows up! I was only trying to protect everyone, especially Mira!"

"And you actually think that your way of 'protecting everyone' should involve you having a duel where your opponent was trying to steal your soul?!" Lori shouted. "What does that even mean?!"

"Believe me, I could hardly believe that detail, myself!" Lincoln shouted back.

"Y'know, honey," Lynn Sr. fearfully reasoned with his wife, "this is the third time over the course of two days our kids got into trouble like this! First Lynn, then Lucy, and now Lincoln?! Why are we suddenly the target of all this misfortune that's been happening?!"

"I don't know," Rita said after a heavy sigh, "but just for their safety, I think we should confine both our children and our guests to this house for the time being."

"What?!" Lincoln cried, visibly aghast by this suggestion. Mira and Kero were almost as surprised by this outrageous precaution.

"I know this sounds excessive," Rita reasoned, kneeling and placing a hand on her son's shoulder, "but until we figure out what's going on, we can't have you wandering off and endangering yourselves like this – it's just not safe!"

"That reminds me, Lori," said Lynn Sr., "can you do a quick check to make sure the rest of your siblings are here?"

"Okay, Dad," Lori obeyed, scurrying off to search for the rest of her younger sisters.

"Mom, this isn't fair!" Lincoln complained. "I really wanted to show off my new card to my friends, especially Ronnie Anne!"

"I'm sure you do," Rita spoke concernedly, "but that's just not happening – at least, not until things calm down a bit."

"Well… Well, Lori can come with me when I duel!" Lincoln cried, his voice starting to break. "Or better yet, how about Lynn!? She's the toughest of the family, so I'm sure that if another one of those robot freaks came to stir up trouble, Lynn would sock 'em in no time flat!"

"I'm sorry, Lincoln, but the answer's no," Rita firmly repeated her order. "We're not taking any more chances, and that's final!"

Lincoln's mouth began to quiver, and tears started to well in his eyes. "F… FINE!" he screamed, anger and emotional upset crossing his face. "IF YOU DON'T WANT ME TO HAVE FUN, THEN SO BE IT!" He ran upstairs to his room, loudly stomping up the steps.

"Lincoln Albert Loud, come back here and apologize to your mother this instant!" Lynn Sr. shouted. But Lincoln refused to listen. He ran to his room and slammed the door shut.

After a few seconds of silence, Kero innocently said, "I dunno about you guys, but… I think he's mad…"

"Well, he should realize that we're doing this for his own good, and for yours, too!" Lynn Sr. said. "I'm gonna go upstairs and try to reason with him."

"No, dear," Rita said, stopping her husband, "the best thing to do right now is to give Lincoln a chance to cool off, and have him think this through. I'm sure he'll come to terms that we're doing this for good reason."

Mira remained silent. All this reminded her of when she was in Lincoln's shoes not too long ago, especially when it came to her not being allowed to participate in Game Duels. She clearly remembered that, the night after, she went out of her way to defy Sister Golas's orders retrieving her confiscated Disk, and leaving the orphanage past curfew, all of which resulted in her receiving further punishment. She was worried that Lincoln would pull a similar stunt by defying his parents' orders to not leave the house.

But it wasn't long before Mira's concentration was broken by Lori regrouping with her parents. "Alright, I'm back," she said.

"Is everyone else here?" Rita hastily asked.

"Most of us," Lori reported. "Leni, Luna, Luan, and Lynn are still out and about, but don't worry. I know exactly where they are: Leni's having a makeover with her friends, Luna's practicing for an out-of-town band competition, Luan's entertaining some kids at her neighbor's bar mitzvah, and Lynn's at soccer practice. Knowing them, they should be okay."

"I sure hope so!" Rita said. "Just tell them to come home the minute they're finished!" Lori dutifully nodded in response.

"So… what happens now?" Kero asked.

"Well, you two can do whatever, as long as you stay within bounds," Rita said with a hint of sadness. "My husband and I… need a bit of alone time after what happened with Lincoln." Lynn Sr. patted her hand as the two headed upstairs.

Now Mira, Kero, and Lori were the only ones in the living room. "What… did happen with Lincoln?" Lori asked, almost timidly.

"Like Mr. Loud said," Mira explained, "Lincoln kinda fell out with his parents when he learned he couldn't leave the house."

"Yeah – he was real mad, lemme tell you!" Kero added.

"I'm sure he'll get over it," Lori said. "We just gotta give him some time."

Mira nodded in agreement. "Although," Mira asked Lori after a few seconds, "who's this 'Ronnie Anne' person he mentioned?"

"Ronnie Anne Santiago?" Lori replied. "She's one of Lincoln's closest friends… and the younger sister of my Boo-Boo Bear…"

"Your 'Boo-Boo Bear?'" Kero asked, confusedly raising an eyebrow.

"My boyfriend, Bobby," Lori dreamily clarified. "We've literally been dating for, like, forever… But just between you and me, I think Lincoln might have a crush on Ronnie Anne."

"Ooh, no wonder Lincoln got all pissy when he wasn't allowed to leave!" Kero playfully teased while puckering his lips.

Mira briefly sneered at Kero before returning her attention to Lori. "But aren't you gonna get upset because your parents won't let you leave the house for any dates with your boyfriend?"

"Disappointed, sure," Lori calmly replied, "but I'm sure Boo-Boo Bear will understand. He usually does. But let's not worry about him or me – why don't you two find something fun to do?"

"How can we?!" Kero whined. "We're not allowed to leave the house!"

"Actually," Lori corrected him, "you're not allowed to leave the boundaries of our house, but you can still go outside if you want."

"Besides, Kero," Mira added, "don't we still have those special QR codes to redeem?"

"Oh, yeah, I forgot that I had them!" Kero chirped. "C'mon, Mira, let's go back to the garage and open our special packs! Wonder if we'll get anything good?" Kero raced back to the garage.

"I'll just go ahead and tell Boo-Boo Bear the bad news," Lori decided as soon as Kero left.

Lori headed upstairs to her room. Mira was about to leave the house to join Kero in the garage, but she stopped as she sadly looked upstairs, thinking about the way Lincoln acted earlier. "Sorry, Lincoln," she murmured. "I know you don't like this, but it's for your own good. Please… don't do what I did when I was in your place…" She sadly walked out the door to regroup with Kero.

About an hour and a half had passed since the argument between Lincoln and his parents. Lynn Sr. and Rita were nervously pacing around the living room, and Mira was the first to notice this when she and Kero entered the house. "Mr. and Mrs. Loud? What's wrong?" Mira asked.

"Our four daughters, that's what's wrong!" Rita panicked. "We've been trying to get hold of them, but we haven't heard back from them! Something must've happened to them! I can feel it!"

"Hold on," Lori said, suddenly running into the room. "You mean Leni, Luna, Luan, and Lynn aren't back yet?!"

"No, they're not!" Rita wailed.

"But Rita, don't you remember?" Lynn Sr. said, trying to comfort his wife. "I texted Lynn a few minutes ago, and she texted me back, saying she's doing alright!"

"Oh, right, you did say that," Rita said, calming down a bit. "I guess I got a bit riled up – but I'm still worried that something might've happened to our other daughters!"

"Do you want me to help you look for them?" Lori offered.

"No, you'd better stay here while we look for them," Lynn Sr. ordered. "…Actually, we should probably break the news to our children…"

"Including Lincoln?" Mira cautiously asked. "What if he's still mad?"

"He probably is," Rita said with a sigh, "but we have to tell him sooner or later. We should probably tell him first, just to get the worst out of the way." The Loud parents steeled themselves as they headed up to Lincoln's room.

Just as Rita suspected, Lincoln was on his bed in his bedroom, sulking on one side. He wasn't as angry as he was an hour and a half ago, but his emotional upset was still visibly evident. A gentle knock was heard outside his door. "Leave me alone," he grumbled.

"Lincoln, it's your parents," Rita softly spoke through the door.

"I don't wanna talk to anyone," Lincoln fumed, "so just leave me alone."

"Lincoln, son," Lynn Sr. spoke, "I know you're upset right now, but there's something we have to tell you. Your sisters, Leni, Luna, and Luan… they've gone missing."

Lincoln's eyes widened, his anger instantly diminished. "They're… gone?"

"Yes," Rita replied. "We've been trying to get a hold of them, but had no success. Your father and I are gonna go look for them."

"Just stay put and try to remain calm. I'm sure they'll be okay," Lynn Sr. ordered.

"Okay…" was the stunned Lincoln's response. Just as soon as he heard his parents hurry down the stairs, a smile slowly crossed his face, as if a scheme was forming inside his brain.

Meanwhile, the Loud parents had reached the bottom of the stairs after breaking the news to the other Loud children present. "Alright, we talked to everyone, so they know what's going on," Rita hastily told the eldest daughter. "Just keep an eye on everything, and make sure no one gets into any trouble – we'll be back as soon as we can."

"Okay. Good luck!" Lori said, hugging her parents before they hurried out the door to get in the car. Not long after the car drove off, Lori sighed and said, "I hope my sisters are alright…"

"Me too," Mira said. "Puck's gone, but I don't think we've seen the last of Caliban…"

"'Puck?' 'Caliban?'" the perplexed Lori asked. "Are you talking about those robot things that have been attacking since you first came here?"

"Exactly," said Mira. "And there's no telling how many more of those things we're up against…"

The necklace underneath Mira's shirt shone, making Mira's eyes widen as another vision ran through her head. This time, she saw Lincoln cosplaying as Ace Savvy, for whatever reason. But Lincoln was grinning as he sneakily climbed out of his bedroom window, carrying his Disk with him. The vision ended, and Mira was aghast. "We have to stop Lincoln, quick!" she cried.

"Stop Lincoln?" Lori asked in disbelief. "What're you talking about? Mom and Dad strictly forbade him and the rest of us from leaving household bounds!"

"I know," Mira urgently said, placing her hands on Lori's shoulders. "I can't explain, but I just saw Lincoln sneaking out of his room!"

"He what?!" Lori yelped. Shaking her head, she resumed, "No, no, there's no way he'd sneak out like that, especially when Mom and Dad strictly told him not to!"

"We'd better check on him, just to be safe!" Mira said, running up the stairs. She was quickly followed by Lori, and then by Kero.

The three ran to Lincoln's room as fast as they could. But when they opened the door, they were aghast to find his window open, and Lincoln and his Disk nowhere to be seen. "Oh, no, he did escape!" Mira wailed.

"Ooh, rebel!" Kero said.

"Kero, this isn't funny!" Lori snapped at him. "Lincoln's gone, and who knows what kind of trouble he might be getting into!"

"But why would he sneak out like that?!" Mira cried. "Is he really that desperate to show off that new card of his?"

"Is that what this is all about?!" Lori shouted in disgust. "Oh my God, Lincoln is in a lot of trouble now! I know Mom and Dad told me not to leave the house, but I have no other choice: I gotta go out and look for Lincoln!"

"Lemme come with you!" Mira said, grabbing Lori's hand. "I know more about this whole situation than you, so I'm sure I'll be a lot of help."

"Sorry, Mira," Lori said, releasing her hand from Mira's hold, "but you're gonna have to stay here and keep an eye on the rest of my sisters while I'm gone!"

"Aww, but we wanna save the day, too!" Kero whined.

"Kero, she's right," Mira said. "There's no sense in putting the rest of her sisters in danger like this!"

"Then it's settled!" Lori said, whipping out her phone and speedily typing on it with her thumbs. "I just gotta let Mom and Dad know what's going on. I'm sure they're gonna kill me, but Lincoln's safety is more important!"

"Just be careful!" Mira pleaded.

"I will," said Lori. She was about to leave before she paused. "Actually, when we first met," she uneasily spoke to Mira, "you said that whatever those robot things were – these 'Pawns of Itzamna' – you said they were bad news. Just… how dangerous are those guys?"

"More dangerous than you'd think," Mira grimly replied. "And I think the less you know, the better…" Lori sadly nodded before running off on her own search and rescue mission.

'Lincoln, wherever you are, don't do anything reckless… like Reggie did…' Mira worriedly thought as she watched Vanzilla drive off.

About forty minutes had passed since Lincoln defiantly snuck out of his home. Now he – accompanied by Clyde, who was once again cosplaying as One-Eyed Jack and wearing his Disk – were near the city limits, and on a small cliff that was a good enough distance from the abandoned power plant where they wouldn't be seen. "I still don't get it," Clyde whispered. "I know you said Leni, Luna, and Luan are missing, but what makes you think they were kidnapped? And what are we doing here?"

"I'm simply adopting Ace Savvy's keen powers of observation!" Lincoln proudly explained. "Mom and Dad told me that my sisters have gone missing, and they haven't heard back from them for an hour and a half, right? So it boils down to one of two options: They either went out on a journey without telling anyone, or they were abducted! And with what's been happening with these weird robots attacking us, it's more likely that they were captured!"

"Okay, but what makes you think they'd be held hostage here of all places?" Clyde asked.

"If someone were kidnapped," Lincoln explained, almost conceitedly, "then they'd obviously be taken to a place that's dark and remote, like a warehouse or something. However, if there's another thing I've learned from Ace Savvy, it's that if you wanna be sure no one would find someone who'd been kidnapped, then you'd wanna hide them in a place where no one would think to look to begin with! And what better place than the old power plant outside Royal Woods, which was shut down a few years back when the city converted to a different energy source!?"

"Good sleuthing, Li – er, Ace Savvy!" Clyde said before the two friends exchanged a high five. "But I still hope you know what you're up against – remember how tough Puck was!"

"I haven't forgotten," Lincoln said. "Luckily, I now have a card that should help me get around whatever those robot freaks throw at me! Now c'mon, One-Eyed Jack!"

Clyde nodded at Lincoln, and the two friends scaled the cliff down to the entrance of the abandoned power plant. As soon as they reached the bottom, Lincoln boldly took a step forward and shouted, "Alright, whoever you are! I know you have my sisters in there, so you'd better come out here right now!"

A cluster of green pixels suddenly formed before Lincoln. There was a brief explosion of light, and standing in its place was a menacing, herculean android with intimidating red eyes and body armor that was a mixture of silvery white mixed with green – an android Lincoln and Clyde thought they would never see again.

"Oh my God… it's Caliban!" Clyde whimpered.

"Oooh, yeah!" the fully repaired Caliban said boisterously.

Lincoln was just as aghast about Caliban's reemergence as Clyde was. But after piecing together both his deduction of where his missing sisters were held captive, and Caliban's presence, it all came to one possible conclusion. "Are you responsible for what happened to my sisters?!" he demanded, pointing directly at the mechanical menace.

"I'm just followin' my master's orders," Caliban firmly stated. "He told me to track down and abduct your sisters who were out in the open, so that the Wielder would try and come to their rescue!"

Lincoln was perplexed by the way he was referred to as a 'Wielder.' "But… But I'm not a Wielder!" he dumbfoundedly argued. "I don't even know what a Wielder even is!"

"My master knows a Wielder when he sees one – and with what you did to Puck, he suspects that you're a Wielder!" Caliban fumed.

"Okay, this is getting ridiculous!" Lincoln shouted. He raised a fist and demanded, "You'd better give me my sisters back before things get ugly!"

"LINCOLN! THERE YOU ARE!" a shrill female voice hollered, startling the two boys. The voice belonged to none other than Lori, who was visibly livid as she exited Vanzilla to confront her younger brother.

"Lori!? Wh-What are you doing here?!" Lincoln nervously demanded.

"Lincoln, are you out of your mind?!" Lori berated, completely ignoring his question. "You actually snuck out of the house when Mom and Dad strictly told you not to, and actually came to here of all places?! You had me worried sick when Mira told me you were sneaking out like this!"

"Wait, how did Mira know about this?!" Lincoln argued.

"And for what!?" Lori shouted, still ignoring her brother. "So you can go out and show off your fancy shmancy new card you're so frantic about?! The same card you threw a hissy fit over when Mom and Dad confined you to the house when they were only thinking about your safety?!"

"Wait… is this why you snuck out and brought me with you?!" Clyde demanded, slowly overcome with disgust. "So that you could show off your new card?!"

"That's not the sole reason!" Lincoln said defensively. "I really did want to try and save my sisters!"

"I've had enough of these excuses!" Lori fumed, grabbing the two boys by the arm. "We're going straight home this instant!"

"Hold on, you weren't supposed to leave the house, either!" Lincoln smugly cried. "So I'm sure Mom and Dad will be mad at you for defying their orders, too!"

"They were already mad at me when I told them I was looking for you," Lori said bitterly. "But I know they're gonna be mad at you even more! Now let's go, both of you!"

"Hero Boy's goin' nowhere!" Caliban shouted, stretching out his arm. Green bolts of electricity shot out of the fingertips and struck at Lori, who slowly dissipated into green pixels. This left the wildly aghast Lincoln and Clyde shaken to their cores.

"WHAT – WHAT – WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Lincoln screamed.

"If y'wanna know, then ya gotta fight me, oooh yeah!" Caliban taunted, projecting his Disk's lime green blade.

"If that's the way it's gonna be… then so be it!" Lincoln declared, projecting his Disk's orange blade.

"Lincoln, are you for real?!" Clyde cried. "You're dueling against one of those same robot thingamajigs, and it's the same one Mira was up against!"

"I know," Lincoln solemnly stated, "but I gotta beat this creep if I wanna get closer to Lori and the rest of my sisters. Besides, I just finished beating another one of those creeps – you were there to witness it!"

"Yeah, but remember how tough Caliban was against Mira!" Clyde loudly warned.

"I remember," said Lincoln. "But I'm ready for muscles over here! Let's go, Caliban!"

With this declaration, a Game Duel Field moved up to the center of Lincoln's touchscreen, the artwork depicting a bleak wasteland. "Now activating Game Duel Field: Game World, Wasteland," the female voice announced during this sequence. But unlike most Game Duels played under generic Game Duel Fields, the entire scenery remained intact, most likely because a place like an abandoned power plant was already rather bleak.

''Game World, Wasteland',' Clyde worriedly thought. 'If it's anything like the regular Wasteland, it'll power up Caliban's robotic creatures. Lincoln… I hope you know what you're doing…'

"Get ready for a butt-kickin' by Ace Savvy!" Lincoln declared, stretching a fist out at his opponent. Caliban simply responded by narrowing his eyes and raising his projected blade up to his face.

"Game Duel, game start!" both duelists shouted.

CALIBAN: 4000 LP / LINCOLN: 4000 LP

"My turn, Hero Boy!" Caliban snarled as he drew his five-card opening hand. His eye caught sight of one of the cards, and he immediately grabbed it. "Oooh, yeah! I've got just the card I need to roll up your soul and smoke it like there's no tomorrow!" He raised the card up high, and it was revealed to be the rusted card with the blood-red seal in the pitch-black background – the same cursed card Puck used against Lincoln. "I ACTIVATE…

"ITZAMNA'S SPIRIT BATTLE!"

Hearing that name terrified Lincoln and Clyde as Caliban swiped the card through one of his blade's horizontal slots. The blood-red seal formed beneath Caliban, and slowly rotated as it enlarged until it was underneath himself and Lincoln. Wispy flares of the same color then formed, and the following shockwave nearly knocked Clyde over.

"You're goin' nowhere!" Caliban taunted as the planetary symbol on his mask's forehead amplified. "Thanks to this card, I've brought us to the next level of playtime!"

A trickle of sweat rolled down the cheek of the increasingly worried Lincoln. He certainly hadn't forgotten what 'Itzamna's Spirit Battle' was truly capable of. And just as Clyde said, Caliban proved to be quite the opponent for Mira when she dueled him. Now it was Lincoln's turn – and with Caliban activating the cursed card off the bat, Lincoln could only hope he was prepared for the true battle ahead.

"I summon Cybernaut Troll and Cybernaut Claw in Attack Mode!" Caliban resumed, grabbing two more cards and swiping them onto his blade's outermost floating zones. Two lime green portals materialized beside him, and a mechanical troll leapt out of each one. One of them had a spiked club as its main weapon, while the other troll's main weapon was elongated silver nails on its right claw. [ATK: 1600] [ATK: 1300]

"The 'Wasteland' Terrain we're in gives my Cyborg-Type Cybernauts two hundred more Attack Points – but Itzamna's Spirit Battle gives my monsters five hundred more Attack Points! That means that all my Cybernauts will gain seven hundred extra Attack Points, oh yeah!" A blood-red marking of the Krana Xa appeared on the foreheads of each of the mechanical trolls. [ATK: 1600 2300] [ATK: 1300 2000]

"I sacrifice both of my monsters to summon the Upgrade Monster, Cybernaut Beast Nabilac!"

After both mechanical trolls dissipated into pixels, a pillar of sinister violet light shot up from behind Caliban. Leaping out of the light was a bestial mechanoid that bore resemblance to Manticore of Darkness, save for the wings. Its body armor was mostly brown-gray with a few traces of black. On the heart area of its chest were three unlit hexagons inside each other. Upon its emergence, the mechanoid unleashed a frightening roar as the red marking of the Krana Xa appeared on its forehead. [BASE ATK: 2000 2700 / GRADE: BASE]

"L-L-Lincoln!" the terrified Clyde wailed, pointing a trembling finger at the newly summoned mechanical monstrosity. "Th-That guy just s-summoned another one of those U-Upgrade M-M-Monsters! What do you think that one does?!"

"I dunno," Lincoln replied, "but I hope we don't get to find out…"

"I place this card face-down, and end my turn!" Caliban resumed, grabbing the last card in his hand and swiping it through one of his blade's horizontal slots. A card materialized behind the mechanoid before disappearing.

"Alright, it's my turn!" Lincoln shouted, drawing his five-card opening hand. 'Okay,' he thought as he closely examined both Caliban's monster and the seal surrounding him, 'If I remember correctly, his 'Itzamna's Spirit Battle' prevents me from using the effects of my monsters that have Levels, which is really gonna put me in a tight spot.' He looked down and saw that two of the cards in his hand were Ace Savvy and Sevens Reborn. 'These cards'll help me get around that, but even they won't be enough to take out Caliban!'

Determination quickly crossed his face. 'Fortunately, I have another card I know for sure will get around it – I just gotta draw the cards I need to bring it out!'

"I activate the Spell Card, Graceful Charity!" Lincoln said aloud, swiping a card through one of his blade's horizontal slots. A WHITE MAGIC Spell Card materialized, the artwork picturing an angel peacefully staring down at a card enshrouded in golden white light.

"I'm sure you know what this card does: I get to draw three cards, but then I have to send two from my hand to the Graveyard!" Three stacked cards materialized in front of his ring's red-slotted, which he quickly drew. Afterwards, seven cards materialized in front of Lincoln. He quickly pressed his finger on two of them, causing them to pixilate while the other cards faded away. "Alright – let's do this, Caliban!

"I activate the Spell Card, Sevens Reborn!" After swiping another card through one of his blade's horizontal slots, another WHITE MAGIC Spell Card materialized, the artwork picturing Sevens Roads Magician rising up from a dark purple portal in front of the silhouettes of Multistrike Dragon Dragias and Jointech Rex. "After I discard these two monsters whose total Levels equal at least seven, I can resurrect my ace from my Graveyard: High Card Hero, Ace Savvy!"

Two more cards materialized in front of Lincoln, and Lincoln quickly swiped his fingertips across them, dissipating the cards into pixels. Afterwards, a dark purple portal formed in front of Lincoln, and the red-suited blond hero floated up from it, his hands proudly at his sides. [ATK: 2100]

"I may not be able to summon other monsters this turn," Lincoln resumed, "but I am able to use Ace Savvy's effect without any worry – like right now! I immediately send the top card of my deck to the Graveyard!" A card shot out of his Disk's topmost ridge, and the card quickly dissipated into orange pixels.

"Now Ace Savvy will gain Attack Points equal to the total Levels of all the monsters in my Graveyard with different Levels of one through five, multiplied by one hundred! And right now… I have four monsters of Levels One, Two, Four, and Five!" Four faded images of Boost Warrior, Doron, Obnoxious Celtic Guard, and Flame Swordsman formed behind Lincoln. [LV: 1] [LV: 2] [LV: 4] [LV: 5]

"That means Ace Savvy will gain…" Clyde excitedly commented, counting on his fingers, "…twelve hundred extra Attack Points! More than enough to take out his Nabilac!" As Lincoln's four mirages faded away, twelve Level Stars appeared in front of Ace Savvy, and were quickly absorbed into his chest. [ATK: 2100 3300]

"And it doesn't end there!" Lincoln beamed. "I play the Field Spell, Glorious Grandopolis!"

A virtual slot slid out of his blade, and he placed the WHITE MAGIC Field Spell depicting the Las Vegas-esque citylike structure onto it. After the slot closed, the entire scenery became decorated with colorful outlines of the four suits of playing cards.

"As long as this card's in play, whenever Ace Savvy or a monster that mentions him attacks one of your monsters," Lincoln proudly explained, "any battle damage you take immediately becomes doubled!"

"Aw, yeah! Caliban's in for it now!" Clyde cheered.

"I know it's not enough to defeat you," Lincoln said as he swiped another card through one of his blade's horizontal slots, "but at least I'll be able to send that tin can o' yours back to the scrap heap!" A card materialized behind the red-suited hero before fading from sight.

"Ace Savvy, take out Nabilac with Suited Showerstorm!" The red-suited hero unleashed a barrage of suit-shaped projectiles directly at the bestial cyborg, shattering it into pixels. The projectiles also struck at Caliban, who tried his hardest to protect himself from the incoming barrage, dropping to one knee in doing so. [LP: 4000 2800]

"My turn's over, Caliban," Lincoln finished. "But luckily for me, Ace Savvy's power boost is gonna last through your turn, as well, so just try to stop it!" [ATK: 3300]

'I hope that's true,' Clyde worriedly thought after hearing his friend's quip. He began to have flashbacks of Mira's duel against Caliban, and how she strengthened her Chronogias with the Core Spell. 'If Caliban's Upgrade Monster is anything like Mira's, then he'll probably have a way to power it up just like that! And I can only imagine how strong Nabilac can be then! Please, Lincoln, don't do anything reckless…!'

"Oooh, you've gon' done it now, Hero Boy!" Caliban snarled as he got himself up. "I'm gonna show you what happens when you mess with Caliban, oooh yeah!" Five stacked cards materialized in front of his Disk's red-slotted ridge, which he ferociously drew.

"First, I activate my face-down card, Magnet Reverse!" An EARTH Spell Card materialized beside him. Its artwork pictured a floating chunk of rock surrounded by silver and gold gears and screws, as well as smaller versions of the original rock. All of this was occurring in a cemetery.

"This card lets me resurrect a Cyborg, Machine, or Rock-Type monster from my Graveyard! That means Nabilac's comin' back, oooh yeah!" A sinister violet portal appeared, and the mechanical manticore floated out of it, with the red Krana Xa soon forming on its forehead. [BASE ATK: 2000 2700 / GRADE: BASE]

"Great, not this guy again!" Clyde moaned, slapping his forehead.

"Relax, Clyde," Lincoln said to his friend, smiling reassuringly. "My Ace Savvy's still stronger than Nabilac, and I'll be sure I take him out next turn!" [ATK: 3300]

"I don't think so, Hero Boy!" Caliban gruffly corrected him. "Not after I inject my Nabilac with this!" He viciously revealed another rusty card. The boys hadn't seen it before, but it was none other than the dreaded Itzam Incarnate!

"Hey, it's another rusted card like 'Itzamna's Spirit Battle'!" Clyde wailed, pointing at the cursed card. "But… what does that card do?!"

"I dunno," Lincoln nervously replied, "but I think we're about to find out!"

"I inject Nabilac with Itzam Incarnate, bringing Nabilac to the 'Ultra' Grade!" Caliban resumed, sliding the card directly underneath Nabilac's card form. The black digital blob appeared before transforming into the slender figure, and then flew directly into Nabilac's chest. [GRADE: BASE ULT]

"Nabilac injected with Itzam Incarnate, UPGRADE!" Caliban bellowed.

Both he and Nabilac transformed into lime green wires as the two sunk into the depths of the earth, eventually transforming into a pitch-black portal before it closed up. For a few suspenseful seconds, the two boys frightfully stared at the ground Caliban disappeared in, anxiously awaiting to see what would happen next. Then, without warning, a burst of fire shot up from the earth, and the upper half of a more colossal version of the mechanical manticore slowly rose up, now with a set of cybernetic wings that looked skeletal. Most of its body armor was black, but what was especially astonishing was that Ganymede's upper body was fused to the forehead of the manticore, and parts of his silvery white body armor became black.

"With the power of Itzamna, I Upgrade Summon the monster that'll put you down for the count: CYBERNAUT BEHEMOTH, ITZAM NABILAC!" The head of the manticore unleashed a terrifying roar at the two boys.

"An Upgrade… Summon?!" Clyde whimpered. "That's a thing?!"

"I guess so!" the startled Lincoln frightfully replied. "I've never seen Mira use it, so it must be something really special for Upgrade Monsters!"

"If you boys think you're scared now, just wait!" Caliban laughed. "After I Upgrade Summon Itzam Nabilac, it'll become the 'Mega' Grade, the highest Grade possible, oooh yeah! Because of that, it'll acquire six Cores, and its original Attack Points immediately become four thousand!"

"Four thousand!?" the two boys screamed. [MEGA ATK: 4000 / GRADE: MEGA]

"And don't you forget about both this Terrain and Itzamna's Spirit Battle, yeah!" Caliban roared. On the behemoth's chest armor were six thin diamonds arranged around an orb in a circular fashion. Both the orb and the diamonds lit up bright red as the behemoth unleashed another frightening roar. [MEGA ATK: 4000 4700 / CORE: 6]

"Itzam Nabilac's Continuous Ultra Effect kicks in! Every monster on the field loses Attack Points equal to their original Defense Points! All my Cybernauts are safe, since they have no Defense Points to begin with! Your Ace Savvy, on the other hand, ain't so lucky!"

Lincoln growled through his teeth as he witnessed Ace Savvy clutch his heart in agony. [ATK: 3300 2200 / DEF: 1100] "But even if you do destroy it," he defiantly said to his opponent, "I'm still gonna be in this duel!"

"But for how long, Hero Boy!?" Caliban taunted. "I activate Itzam Nabilac's regular Ultra Effect by sending two cards from my hand to the Graveyard!" Two cards materialized in front of him, and he swiped his fingertips across them, causing the cards to pixilate.

"Now I get to resurrect two Level Four or lower Cyborg-Type monsters of the DEMON MAGIC Attribute, and raise their original Attack Points by five hundred! Return, Cybernaut Troll and Cybernaut Claw!" Two dark purple portals appeared, and two mechanical trolls floated up from them – one wielding the club, and the other with the claw-based weapon. The red Krana Xa appeared on their foreheads after their resurrections. [ATK: 1600 2100 2800] [ATK: 1300 1800 2500]

"Oh, no, now I'm really done for!" Lincoln wailed.

"Pipe down, little man!" Caliban barked. "The monsters I brought back aren't allowed to attack this turn! But they are gonna serve a much different purpose with Itzam Nabilac's Mega Effect!" Lincoln gulped, fully expecting the worst.

"I use two Cores and send my other two Cybernauts to the Graveyard!" Two of the behemoth's diamonds became unlit. [CORE: 6 4] Afterwards, the two mechanical trolls transformed into spirals of sinister violet pixels, orbiting around the behemoth's right fist.

"Now all of your monsters are destroyed, and then you take damage equal to the combined original Attack Points of the monsters I've sacrificed!"

"So, if I did my math right…" the trembling Clyde whimpered, "…that's… that's…!"

"Thirty-nine hundred points!" Lincoln wailed.

"OOOH, YEAH!" Caliban roared. The behemoth drew its glowing violet fist back, then slowly but powerfully thrust it directly at the red-suited hero, immediately shattering it into pixels. This created a massive explosion as the screaming Lincoln was flung towards the edge of the seal. [LP: 4000 100]

"LINCOLN!" Clyde screamed.

The smoke from the explosion slowly subsided. But as it did, Caliban, and even Clyde, were surprised to see a lone standing figure: Ace Savvy!

"The hell can this be?!" Caliban argued. "I destroyed your puny monster!"

"You… You did…" the severely injured Lincoln groaned, struggling to get himself up. "But when you did… I activated my Trap… Ace Savvy's Final… Ace…!" A WHITE MAGIC Trap Card materialized beside Lincoln. Its artwork depicted the arm of a severely injured Ace Savvy struggling to get himself up while holding the ace of spades.

"Now… Ace Savvy comes back! And he can't… be destroyed this turn… and I won't take any further damage…!" Lincoln explained, huffing and puffing.

"But your monster lost its little bonus, and it'll lose a lot more Attack Points from Itzam Nabilac!" Caliban said. Lincoln hadn't forgotten that detail. Still, his red-suited hero fearlessly stared up at the bionic behemoth. [ATK: 2100 1000 / DEF: 1100]

"In any case, I ain't allowed to attack after using Itzam Nabilac's Mega Effect. But I am allowed to cement my guaranteed victory! I'll start by activating the Spell Card, Dark Ruler's Necromancy!" A DEMON MAGIC Spell Card materialized, the artwork depicting Dark Ruler Ha Des standing outside his castle, with two copies of Winged Minion rising up from the earth.

"This card lets me resurrect two Level Three or lower monsters of the DEMON MAGIC Attribute from my Graveyard! I resurrect the two monsters I discarded for Itzam Nabilac's Ultra Effect: my two copies of Cybernaut Mage!" Two more violet portals appeared, and a copy of the mechanical troll mage floated up from each one of them. The red Krana Xa then appeared on each of their foreheads. [ATK: 800 1500] [ATK: 800 1500]

"With two copies of Cybernaut Mage on my field, all of my Cyborg-Type monsters of the DEMON MAGIC Attribute gain eight hundred Attack Points! Plus, you're only allowed to attack my monster that has the highest Attack Points!" Both mechanical troll mages raised their staffs, surrounding themselves and the behemoth with a sinister violet miasma. [ATK: 1500 2300] [MEGA ATK: 4700 5500] [ATK: 1500 2300]

"And I'll top it all off by activating the Field Spell, Dark Ruler's Arena!" A virtual slot slid out of his blade, and he placed the DEMON MAGIC card on it before the slot closed up. Afterwards, the scenery changed from the abandoned power plant to the demonic arena, complete with the columns that had the grinning face of Dark Ruler Ha Des carved in each one.

"This card forces our monsters to be in Attack Mode, and makes them attack whenever they can! Plus, all of my DEMON MAGIC-Attribute monsters gain three hundred Attack Points for every DEMON MAGIC-Attribute on my side of the field! And I have three!" Hearing this downright horrified the two boys. [ATK: 2300 3200] [MEGA ATK: 5500 6400] [ATK: 2300 3200]

"This guy… can't be for real!" the frustrated Lincoln groaned. "There's no way cards this broken… can be legal for Game Duels!"

"Forget that!" Clyde shouted, his voice slightly breaking. "You're up against three powerful monsters, and Caliban has it where your monsters are forced to attack no matter what! And your Life Points are only hanging by a thread! There's no way you can beat him now!"

"You're right…" Lincoln moaned, struggling to bring his Disk up to his level. "But a true hero never gives up… until the very end…!" His own motivational speech seemed to replenish his energy, for five stacked cards materialized in front of the ring's red-slotted ridge. "This duel ain't over, Caliban – it's my turn!" He valiantly drew the cards. 'Yes!'

"I summon Swordsman of Roadstar in Attack Mode!" An orange portal appeared next to the red-suited hero, and the black-armored star knight flew out of it. [ATK: 1200]

"That desperate to lose, aren't you, Hero Boy!?" Caliban taunted.

"I'll show you 'desperate!'" Lincoln loudly corrected him as he swiped another card through one of his blade's horizontal slots. "I activate the Spell Card, Fusion!" A WHITE MAGIC Spell Card materialized, the artwork displaying the same artwork for 'Polymerization', with the fusing creatures completely white.

"'Fusion'?" the perplexed Clyde asked. "But what could you possibly-" He stopped, for he remembered something very crucial that happened earlier today: Lincoln had acquired a special card for his heroics back at Royal Woods Mall, and Clyde remembered peeking at the card on Lincoln's touchscreen as they were heading home. "Wait a minute… Could you be making what I think you are?!"

"I sure am!" Lincoln beamed, clenching a fist. "I fuse my Ace Savvy with Swordsman of Roadstar!"

The red-suited hero and the black-armored star knight slowly merged to overlay themselves with each other, eventually creating a lustrous burst of white-gold light once they fully merged. Flying out of the light was the red-suited hero, only now parts of his body were equipped with metal armor that was black mixed with some white and red. His main weapon was a sword just like Swordsman of Roadstar's, except the blade was silvery white with black trim, and decorated on both sides of the blade were runes in the shape of the four suits for traditional playing cards.

"You're not the only one who can evolve their monsters like this!" Lincoln shouted. "I Fusion Summon – HIGH CARD PALADIN, ACE SAVVY SLASH!" The newly upgraded Ace Savvy unleashed a battle cry as he raised his sword in the air. [ATK: 2600]

"You can't scare me, little man!" Caliban snarled. "Don't forget – Itzam Nabilac weakens your monster's Attack Points by its original Defense Points!" [ATK: 2600 800 / DEF: 1800]

"Dangit, I totally forgot about Itzam Nabilac doing that, too!" Clyde cried, slapping his forehead.

"It's okay, Clyde," Lincoln said to his friend. "I'm still gonna win this duel!"

"How do you figure that?!" Clyde asked with a hint of panic.

"You're about to see!" Lincoln energetically replied. "I activate the Spell Card, Joker's Bower!" After swiping the card through one of his blade's horizontal slots, an ILLUSION MAGIC Spell Card appeared. Its artwork depicted the grinning face of Joker's Knight in the center of a circle of eleven different colored orbs, representing the eleven Attributes exclusive to Game Duels. The lavender-colored orb was glowing.

"With this card," Lincoln explained, "I get to choose a monster on my side of the field, and then all the Monster Cards in my Graveyard become the same Attribute as the monster I picked! I'll go ahead and choose Ace Savvy Slash himself, which means all the monsters in my Graveyard become the WHITE MAGIC Attribute!"

"But if your Fusion Monster's anything like that red-suited freak o' yours," Caliban taunted, "then it can't do squat! In case ya forgot, monsters on your field that have Levels can't activate or apply their effects!"

"Maybe not, but my Fusion Monster's a special case!" Lincoln smugly corrected the perplexed Caliban. "Since I Fusion Summoned Ace Savvy Slash, his effects can't be prevented or negated!" Hearing this startled Caliban.

"And now you're about to see what Ace Savvy Slash can really do! I shuffle all my monsters of Levels one through five from my Graveyard back into my deck!" The mirages of Boost Warrior, Doron, Swordsman of Roadstar, Obnoxious Celtic Guard, and Flame Swordsman all appeared beside Lincoln, each monster shrouded by a lavender miasma. [LV: 1] [LV: 2] [LV: 3] [LV: 4] [LV: 5]

"Now Ace Savvy will gain fifteen hundred Attack Points this turn!" All five mirages were absorbed into the hero's sword. [ATK: 800 2300]

"Okay, that's cool and all, but it's still not enough to take down Caliban!" Clyde frightfully reminded his friend.

"I wasn't done!" Lincoln said, still smiling. "Ace Savvy Slash's other effects kick in!"

"His… 'other effects?'" the uneasy Caliban asked.

"You got it!" Lincoln beamed. "Since the monsters I shuffled back into my deck were of the same Type and Attribute, both of Ace Savvy Slash's other effects kick in!" The suit-shaped runes on the swords immediately lit up white-gold.

"First, Ace Savvy Slash destroys up to two of your monsters whose original Attack Points are twenty-one hundred or less – such as both of your Cybernaut Mages!" The sword-wielding hero swung his sword twice, unleashing a razor of lavender light that struck both mechanical troll mages. The mages' destruction significantly weakened the behemoth. [MEGA ATK: 6400 5000]

"Then, Ace Savvy Slash will weaken one of your other monsters by its original Attack Points! Plus, his Continuous Effects will be negated this turn! That means your Itzam Nabilac's really gonna lose Attack Points, while Ace Savvy Slash gets a power boost!"

"Oooh, no!" Caliban wailed. The sword-wielding hero pointed his sword directly at the behemoth, unleashing a bolt of lavender electricity that struck the behemoth, making it roar in agony. [MEGA ATK: 5000 1000] [ATK: 2300 4100]

"Like the old saying goes, the hero always wins in the end!" Lincoln solemnly vowed. "Ace Savvy Slash, destroy his Itzam Nabilac and wipe out Caliban once and for all!" The red-suited hero leapt up, pulling his sword back as he headed directly towards Caliban and the behemoth he was a part of.

"STEEL SUITED SLASH!"

The hero slashed his sword across Caliban's chest before it struck the forehead of the behemoth. The behemoth roared in immense agony, and there was a massive explosion as the demonic arena crumbled to debris. "OOOOOOOH NOOOOOOOOOOO!" Caliban screamed in agony as he was violently separated from the behemoth. [LP: 2800 0] After his defeat, a virtual screen displaying Lincoln's profile with the golden 'WIN' underneath popped open.

As the scenery slowly returned to the abandoned power plant, Clyde was full of mixed emotions. He was undoubtedly awestruck at the way Lincoln made a successful comeback, but at the same time, he felt slightly traumatized by the intensity of the duel, especially with how Lincoln was pushed into a corner like that. 'I'm glad Lincoln won,' he concernedly thought, 'but I now realize that Lincoln shouldn't have been reckless like that. With 'Itzamna's Spirit Battle', these are no ordinary duels… they're literal battles of life and death…!'

Lincoln boldly walked to the heavily damaged Caliban, who struggled to get himself up as the seal shrank until it was underneath him. "This ain't over… Hero Boy…!" he vowed with his voice crackling and his orb slowly flashing and circuiting. "Itzamna… will crush those who aren't pure… like the pests they are…! Oooh… yeah…!" With this vow, a burst of light green ectoplasm was torn out of the orb and shot right into the sky. Afterwards, the lifeless robot fell flat on its face.

There was an uncomfortable silence as Lincoln stared at the entrance to the abandoned power plant, with Clyde timidly staring at his friend. "Lincoln…" Clyde finally spoke, nervously, "I might regret asking this, but… what happens now?"

"What else?" Lincoln said, not even looking at his friend. "We're gonna go in and rescue my sisters!"

"But Lincoln!" Clyde argued. "You saw how powerful Caliban was, and you know how strong Puck was, too! So who knows what kind of powerful robot duelists are gonna be inside!?"

"I know," said Lincoln, clenching his fists. "But I made it this far, and I'm not stopping now! And if it means having to face more of those mechanical freaks… then so be it!" This made Clyde feel even more uncomfortable over his friend's safety, while Lincoln boldly stared at the power plant, ready to go in and face whatever challenges would come his way.
