"Please, find me, Elsa. Come and find me."
That voice, it was as Queen Iduna herself were calling out to Elsa, the platinum blonde wanted to know who it is or what is calling out to her. After bidding their husband, children, and mother-in-law farewell, for now, Elsa and Anna took their carriage and their guards to travel North and find out whatever is calling out to Elsa. The two sisters would've taken their dragons and travel alone, but that was unwise, especially when a massive Viking force is amassing to devour all of England.
Elsa awoke from slumber and laid eyes on Anna, =who was sound asleep and wrapped in a thick, warm blanket to keep the cold creeping in the carriage at bay. Looking outside the carriage window, Elsa could only speculate what's out there calling to her and pray that this wasn't some cruel trick her mind was playing.
Taking a deep breath, Elsa's mind drifts towards Hiccup and her family, she already missed them so much and would miss them even more in the days to come, she just hoped this quest wouldn't take too long, just long enough to find out what's calling out to her and be back to support Hiccup in whatever way she can to deal with the Vikings.
Of course, that was the plan, all Elsa could do was pray and hope that they could solve this mystery sooner rather than later.
"What is it?"
Elsa looks to see that Anna awoke from sleep and gave her a questioning look, the platinum blond smiles lightly and shrugs. "I'm just hoping that whatever it is I'm hearing isn't some trick," she confessed, "Vikings are amassing a great army to destroy us, meanwhile we're going to the North of Arendelle and following a mysterious voice that sounds like our mother's, for I know we're searching for something that may very well be a figment of my imagination." Anna then got up from her side of the carriage and sat next to Elsa and shared her warm blanket with her sister and lover, causing both women to sigh plesantly. Anna then noticed Elsa's face twist into doubt, fear, and self-hatred, causing the strawberry blond to frown and inquire gently. "Elsa? What's wrong?"
"I just... I just don't want to mess things up," she said, "not when our nation is under threat. We've been trained in combat and dragon riding by both Hiccup and Valka, we'll need these skills if we're going to help our husband banish the heathens from our lifetime. But as I said earlier, we could be searching for nothing at all, and I don't want to be wrong about this." Anna gently cups her sister's cheeks and kisses her, causing Elsa to close her eyes and kiss Anna back, when they break their kiss, they rest their foreheads together and Anna murmurs out. "I know there're moments when you think you're a monster, someone who's a freak of nature, or someone who doesn't belong in human society, but you're wrong. Elsa, you're perfect the way you are. Hiccup and I love and believe in you more than anyone in this world," she smiles warmly at Elsa and adds, "you're not a monster or a freak of nature Elsa, you're my sister and lover, a Queen of Arendelle, and a wife to the man we both love more than we can comprehend. Whatever is out there in the unknown? We'll face it, together."
Tears swelled in Elsa's eyes, she loved Anna and Hiccup so much, and just hearing Anna's words caused Elsa to once again press her lips to Anna's. "What would I do without you?" She murmured against Anna's cheek, the strawberry blond laughed lightly and murmured back. "You'll always have me, Elsa," she then added, "as well as Hiccup." Both women shared a warm smile and cuddled close a cold breeze crept into the carriage. They then began to lightly sing a lullaby their mother used to sing to them before bedtime, after singing a few verses of their childhood lullaby, Anna was back to sleep, holding each Elsa close, causing her to press a kiss to Anna's forehead and sigh happily.
Before Elsa fell back to the sweet embrace of sleep, she closed her eyes and reached out to the voice that's been reaching out to her for these past few days. Casting aside her doubt, Elsa focused as she reached out to this voice and asked in an uncertain, yet hopeful tone.
"Hello? Can you hear me?"
(Sophia's pov)
I awoke to the sound of my cell door opening, two Viking guards entered and a native girl entered as well. This girl had tan skin, her ebony hair was done in a braid behind her head, she wore a tan long sleeve dress, black fur boots, and a deerskin cloak draped around her shoulders. She and handfuls of her people were from a land called Alaska, they merged with another group of people who were also completely foreign to me, the Sami. From what I've seen outside my prison cell window, these Alaskan and Sami people were warriors just like the Vikings here, but they were also a very peaceful people and wanted lands to settle in and call their own.
The two guards proceeded to uncuff my shackles and rub my hands, somehow these savages managed to craft shackles that prevent me to use my powers, but I savor what little freedom I have when they are off my hands. Laying eyes on the Alaskan girl, she has a bowl of food in one hand and a cup of water in the other, she then extends them both to me. "Eat, drink, you'll need your strength," she says, "when you have finished eating and bathing for today, Chieftain Arne requires your presence in his library."
"And whatever he requires of me, I will refuse him," I say firmly, "he took me from my home and holds me captive, he will get nothing from me." As I take a bite of the food that I was provided with, this girl turns towards the guards in my cell and nods them, silently telling them to leave us, and to my surprise, the guards leave us alone and close the door behind them. Turning back to me, this girl smiles lightly at me and introduces herself. "My name is Maren." she then cocks her head in curiosity, "do you view myself, my people, and the Sami as savages as well?"
Did I?
I've seen both the Sami and Alaskan people are great hunters, they build impressive huts, and they're a people whotreasurepeace. These people aren't here by choice, there were only handfuls of them when they arrived at these shores, Arne and his Hidden greeted them with open arms, acting as if these werehislands. The Sami and Alaskan people refused to fight for the Hidden but only asked if they could settle among them as companions, surprisingly, Arne accepted and these three people have coexisted in the Enchanted Forest for decades.
"Well, I don't even know you," I said, answering Maren's question, "I'd rather not be too quick to judge you and your people just because you live among Vikings." Maren pursed her lips and nodded while also tucking in a strand of her ebony hair behind her ear, she's a beautiful woman, that much is obvious. "Do you... believe you can live amongst the Vikings forever?" I asked, causing Maren to look me in the eyes. "What're you implying?" She asked curiously. "Are you saying that Arne and his Hidden will betray my people?"
"That's exactly what I'm saying," I say firmly, "Vikings are nothing more than scoundrels who practice vile paganism, slaughter anyone in their path to acquire wealth or land, and they're the most bloodthirsty people I've ever encountered!" Pointing outside the window of my cell, I growled out. "Surely your people aren't that naive to trust Arne," I then spoke with gritted teeth, "sooner or later, Arne and his Viking dogs will turn on your people: they'll slaughter the men, use the women as whores, and enslave the children!"
Maren's face was emotionless, much to my surprise, she then smiled at me spoke in a reassuring tone. "Trust me, Arne and the Hidden aren't your average Vikings," she then continued, "he's like a father to me and my brother, Ryder. Our parents were killed some years back, we were taken care of by our leader, Yelana. Everything you've said about Vikings is true, but Arne and his Hidden aren't like the other Vikings."
I sighed in frustration and looked outside the window of my cell, tears began to swell in my eyes. "For twenty-three years, I've been Arne's prisoner," my tears stream down my cheeks as I continue, "I... I have been ripped away from my home, the Hidden wanted me to become their weapon to brandish against anyone who would attack them. They stole me from my birthright, my family, and my kingdom and expect me to embrace their culture and ways. But I will never align myself with these savages and become their living weapon. When the time is right, I will see myself free and kill them all for ripping me away from home."
My words cause Maren to become silent, I huff and puff in anger, and as I look to my hands, I can see my hands encased in stone, causing me to unleash an enraged cry and punch the wall. Maren visibly flinches as my blow leaves a sizeable dent in the wall and the stone that was previously encasing my hand had been broken, sizeable stone clatter on the ground harmlessly. Running a hand through my hair, I laugh bitterly and shake my head at Maren. "You and your people may admire Arne," I then spat out, "but I despise him! He is the reason for my suffering here." I then snort and brush past her as I bang on the door. "I'm ready to take my bath," the doors opened the guards were about to lay their hands on me, "if you touch a single hair on my head? I will encase you in stone and then shatter you into pieces." With that threat, the guards backed off and I stormed out of the prison and wasn't even bothered by the cold winds.
"Hello? Can you hear me?"
I stop dead in my tracks, my anger vanishes and is replaced with hope. This voice was beautiful, it was laced with curiosity, wonder, and... doubt.
"My name is Elsa, Queen of Arendelle. I say again, can you hear me?"
Mentally slapping myself, I clear my throat and answer the sister I've never met. "Y-Yes! I can hear you Elsa!" I then laugh in both joy in disbelief, because I didn't believe that Elsa could even hear my previous calls, but now she's reaching out to me.
"Who or what are you?"
Taking a deep breath, I answer Elsa's question. "I... My name is Sophia, first born daughter of the late King Agnarr and Queen Iduna, our parents," I then continue, "I was taken from Arendelle a long time ago and being held against my will by a tribe of Vikings called the Hidden. I know this revelation is shocking, but when you find me? I will reveal everything to you. You have my word." Elsa does not respond, I fear she doesn't believe me or thinks that this is nothing but a cruel trick of some kind, but to my relief, Elsa replies.
"I'm so sorry that this has happened to you, Sophia. I'm on my way, along with Anna, our parents' third born daughter. Together, we will set you free and see that the Vikings that abducted you are punished swiftly and severely."
"Then I shall pray for you swift arrival," I say with a smile, "I look forward to finally meet you and Anna face to face."
"The feeling is mutual. Stay strong Sophia."
