Chapter 4 Powers and Placements

The new students were lead into a large gym and told to sit down. Principal Thunderclap stood before them along with a large man dressed as a gym teacher.
"Students this is Bulldozer, you're gym teach. He will be assessing your powers and determining your placement at Sky High. Those who show immense power will be put in the hero course and those with a weaker level of power will be placed in the sidekick courses. Now those who end up in the sidekick courses, don't be discouraged about your placement, you are just as important as the heroes and you will be treated with respect. Now let's get to it." Said Principal Thunderclap.
"Alright first row lineup." Said Bulldozer.
The students on the first row lined up and then Bulldozer called one student at a time to give a demonstration of their power. The first one up was the handsome guy, Jack had seen earlier. His name was Steven and he had super strength. Steven demonstrated his strength by pulling out some 45 weight dumbbell weights and tossed them around in the air with no effort. Bulldozer was impressed, but he wanted a bigger demonstration of Steve's strength, and he had some staff members bring a car into the gym and told Steven to lift it. Steven lifted the car up with ease and was applauded by the other students.
"Impressive. Hero!" Said Bulldozer.
Steven walked away and the next few students were up with a big of powers. One boy could shoot fireballs, a girl could fire freeze blasts, one boy could make his hair grow and make facial hair appear, a girl that could should water from her fingers like a squirt gun, and a few other students went when the teen girl Jack had seen earlier who had her feet hovering off the ground went. Her name was Josie and she demonstrated her power by flying around at incredible speed and doing some loops in the air impressing the students.
"Hero!" Said Bulldozer.
Josie landed on the ground and joined the Hero students. Jack was next to go. He told everyone his power and then he demonstrated by speeding to one side of the gym to another multiple times.
"Hero!" Said Bulldozer.
Connor went next and told everyone his powers and Bulldozer asked for some targets to be brought out. The targets were brought out and fired some concussive sonic blasts at the targets destroying them with ease.
"Hero!" Said Bulldozer.
Next up was the nerdy girl Susan.
"Hi I'm Susan and well my powers are a bit...different. Allow me to demonstrate." Said Susan as she put her bag on the ground and began to remove all the machine parts from it.
Everyone watched as Susan hovered over the pile of machine parts and then she waved her hands over them. The audience was stunned as the machine parts levitated into the air and began to attach themselves to one another. In a matter of seconds a ray gun-like device was fully assembled. Susan picked up the ray gun and pointed it at one of the targets and pulled the trigger. A laser shot out and struck one of the targets blowing it to bits. The teachers and students were stunned. Principal Thunderclap and a few other teachers went over to Bulldozer and they had a huddle discussion. After a few minutes they broke up and Bulldozer faced Susan.
"Sidekick!" Said Bulldozer.
Both Susan and the other students were stunned by this.
"What? Why am I a Sidekick?" Asked Susan.
"We believe your powers would be better suited assisting and supporting heroes." Said Principal Thunderclap.
"I can build something bigger if you want a better demonstration." Said Susan.
"I'm sure you can and will be waiting for that. Right now you'll be in the Sidekick course, until further notice. You'll have another chance to demonstrate your power and skills and then we will reevaluate you." Said Principal Thunderclap.
Susan looked like she wanted to argue, but she just sighed and took her ray gun apart and put the parts back in the bag, before joining the Sidekick students. Connor couldn't help, but feel sorry for her.
The rest of the students went, demonstrated, and were assigned their courses.
"All right that's everyone. Now we can start your education. Work hard, so you can all be the heroes of tomorrow!" Said Thunderclap.
The teachers lead the students out of the gym and they began their classes. Susan glanced at the Hero students and made a vow to herself.
"I'll show everyone my skills and prove I'm worthy of the Hero course."
