Chapter 5

Separate missions

The next day the towers of the Jedi temple were glistening in the sunshine, but inside in the council chambers the events of last night were in discussion.

" Track down this bounty hunter, you must Obi-Wan." Said Master Yoda.

"Most importantly, find out who he's working for." Master Windu ordered.

"What about Senator Amidala? She will still need protecting." Said Obi-Wan worriedly.

The council turned to Anakin and Master Yoda said "Handle that your Padawan will."

"Anakin, you, Wheelie, and Bumblebee escort the Senator back to her home planet of Naboo. She'll be safer there. And don't use registered transport. Travel as refugees." Master Windu ordered.

"As the leader of the opposition, it will be very difficult to get Senator Amidala to leave the Capital." Anakin said with doubt in his voice.

"Until caught this killer is, our judgment she must respect." Said Master Yoda.

"Anakin, go to the Senate and ask Chancellor Palpatine to speak with her." Master Windu ordered.

As both Jedi bowed to the council and prepared to leave for their duties Master Kenobi was stopped by the council for another important mission.

"Obi-Wan! Wait a moment, we just received a transmission coming from the Hoth system that was sent out by someone named Ultra Magnus. He says he's the Autobots commander. We need you to investigate this. It could provide us with answers to why the Decepticons want the Senator." Said Master Windu.

"I will meet this "Ultra Magnus" and hopefully have some answers after I track down the bounty hunter." Said Obi-Wan.

"Very well. May the force be with you Master Windu said."

In the senate building at the chancellor's office, Anakin and Chancellor Palpatine were standing by the window overlooking the vast city discussing plans on how to encourage Senator Amidala to go home where it's safe, at the same time reviewing the attack of Barricade and revealing of Bumblebee.

" I will talk to her. Senator Amidala will not refuse an executive order. I know her well enough to assure you of that." Said the Chancellor.

"Thank you, your Excellency." Said Anakin.

" And so my young Padawan, they have finally given you an assignment. Your patience has paid off." Said Palpatine.

"Your guidance more than my patience." Said Anakin.

"You don't need guidance, Anakin. In time you will learn to trust your feelings. Then you will be invincible. I have said it many times, you are the most gifted Jedi I have ever met." Palpatine said as they turned away from the window and walked through Palpatine's office towards the door.

"Thank you, your excellency." Said Anakin.

"I see you becoming the greatest of all Jedi, Anakin.Even more powerful than Master Yoda." Said Palpatine.

Back at the Jedi temple in the atrium, Masters Kenobi, Mace Windu, and Yoda, who was accompanying them while riding a small floating chair were in discussion about Anakin's latest assignment and the mystery of the Cybertronians involvement in all of this.

"I am concerned for my Padawan. He is not ready to be given this assignment on his own yet." Said Obi-Wan.

"The boy has exceptional skills." Said Master Windu.

"But he still has much to learn, Master. His abilities have made him...ell, arrogant." Said Obi-Wan worried.

"Yes, yes. It's a flaw more and more common among Jedi. Too sure of themselves, they are. Even the older, more experienced ones." Said Yoda.

"Remember, Obi-Wan. If the prophecy is true, your apprentice is the only one who can bring the Force back into balance." Said Master Windu.

"If he follows the right path." Said Obi-Wan

"Still, it troubles me how the Autobots and Decepticons all fit into this." Said Obi-Wan.

"The Force moves everything into place. Revealed in time, their involvement shall be." Said Master Yoda.

Back at the senator's apartment Anakin came watching Dorme pack Padme's luggage, Wheelie moving around being lazy, and Senator Amidala talking with Jar Jar.

"I'm taking an extended leave of absence. It will be your responsibility to take my place in the senate. Representative Binks, I know I can count on you." Said the Senator.

"Mesa honored to be taken dissa heavy burden. Mesa accept this with muy muy humility and uh.." Jar Jar said but was interrupted.

"Jar Jar. I don't wish to hold you up. I'm sure you have a great deal to do." Padme said.

"Of course, M'lady." Said Jar Jar. They both bowed to each other and Jar Jar left. Padme walked towards Anakin not in the best of moods.

"I do not like this idea of hiding." Said Padme.

"Hey, it beats sitting around here waiting for the next schmuck to take you out." Wheelie pointed out.

"Don't worry, now that the council has ordered an investigation, it won't take master Obi-Wan long to find this bounty hunter and maybe find this key the Decepticons are looking for." Said Anakin.

"I haven't worked for a year to defeat the Military Creation Act not to be here when its fate is decided." Said Padme frustrated.

"Sometimes we have to let go of our pride and do what is requested of us." Said Anakin.

"Ani...you've grown up."Padme said impressed.

"Master Obi-Wan manages not to see it... Don't get me wrong Obi-Wan is a great mentor, as wise as Master Yoda and as powerful as Master Windu...in some ways...a lot of ways... I'm ahead of him. I'm ready for the trials, but he feels I'm too unpredictable he won't let me move on." Said Anakin.

"That must be frustrating." Said Padme

"It's worse...he's overly critical! He never listens! He just doesn't understand. It's not fair!" Anakin continued.

"Mentors have a way of seeing more of our faults than we would like. It's the only way we grow." Said Padme.

"I know." Said Anakin

"Don't sweat it kid. Listen a lot of the Autobots judge me by my size, never gave me a shot at anything. 'Til Prime came to me and said I was supposed to come here and protect the Senator." Wheelie said as he pointed to Padme.

"It is quite the responsibility and no offense but you are kinda small." Said Anakin sheepishly.

" None taken, but my point is Prime trusts me with this assignment. You just gotta give Kenobi a reason to trust you and you'll get to those trials you want. Said Wheelie confidently.

Anakin smiled, for he knew Wheelie was right.

"Anakin...don't try to grow up too fast." Said Padme.

"I am grown up. You said it yourself." Anakin said as he looked deeply into Padme's eyes.

"Please don't look at me like that." Padme demanded.

"Why not?" Asked Anakin.

"It makes me feel uncomfortable." Said Padme.

"Sorry, Milady." Said Anakin as he backed away from the Senator and continued her packing.

At Coruscant space port later that day, a small bus speeds toward a massive freighter docked in the industrial area. A small yellow speeder follows the bus with the same mission in mind. Anakin and Padme were dressed in Outland peasant outfits. As Bumblebee entered the cargo bay of the ship, Captain Typho, Dorme, and Obi-Wan were by the door waiting to hand them their luggage and send them off.

"Be safe Milady." Said Captain Typho.

"Thank you Captain. Take good care of Dorme...The threat's on you two now." Said the Senator.

"He'll be safe with me." Said Dorme as she looks down and starts to weep.

"You'll be fine." Said Padme.

"It's not me Milady. I worry about you. What if they realize you've left the capital?" Asked Dorme.

As Padme looks to Anakin and back at Dorme she said" Well then my Jedi protector will have to prove how good he is."

"Anakin, don't do anything without first consulting myself, or the council." Said Obi-Wan sternly.

"Yes Master." Said Anakin.

"Well this is my stop. Better transform before someone sees me an starts a panic or some schlock like that." Said Wheelie and he transformed into his toy truck form and followed suit.

"I will get to the bottom of this plot quickly, Milady. You'll be back here in no time." Said Obi-Wan to Padme.

"I will be most grateful for your speed, Master Jedi."said Padme.

"Time to go." Anakin said.

"I know." Padme said as she gives Dorme a goodbye hug.

"Anakin May the Force be with you." Said Obi-Wan.

"May the Force be with you master." Said Anakin.

The two "peasants" left the speeder bus with their Autobot protector behind them and R2-D2 awaiting them. As Artoo joins them they head off toward the giant Starfreighter.

"Suddenly, I'm afraid." Said Padme.

"This is my first assignment on my own, I am too." Anakin said as he looked back at Artoo and Wheelie.

"But don't worry, we have Artoo, Wheelie, and Bumblebee with us." Anakin said jokingly as they both share a laugh.

As Obi-Wan and Captain Typho watched Anakin and Padme disappear into the vastness of the spaceport they were concerned for both of them.

"I hope he doesn't try anything foolish." Said Obi-Wan.

"I'd be more concerned about her doing something, than him.

The freighter slowly takes off from the docks of Coruscant into the crowded sky and vastness of space carrying the precious cargo back to her home planet and hopefully out of harm's way.

I'm back sorry I haven't posted a chapter in a while it's just been a crazy year for me. Once again I own nothing all rights go to Disney Lucas film's Paramount Dreamworks Hazbro etc. be on the lookout for the next chapter until then take care.
