Chapter 9

Kamino

As Obi-Wans star fighter exists hyperspace and the hyperspace ring he descends into the lost planet of Kamino to discover the bounty hunter and the mystery behind the senator's assassination plot.

" There it is Arfour, right where it should be. Our missing planet Kamino" said Obi-Wan.

R4-P17 beeps and whirs as they enter the planet's surface. Kamino was a planet with a vast ocean that was supposedly polar icecaps that had previously existed but melted resulting in the Kaminoans building their cities above water. Heavy rain and storms were lashing the platforms as Obi-Wans starship approached the landing platform. As Obi-Wan leaves his ship the rain beats down on him soaks his robes as he makes his way to the tower on the far side of the platform. As the door slides open a corridor bathed in a brilliant white light pierced the rain Obi-Wan entered the building and was greeted by a native Kaminoan named Taun We.

"Master Jedi the prime minister is expecting you" said Taun We.

"I'm expected" asked Obi-Wan?

"Of course! He is anxious to meet you. After all these years we were beginning to think you weren't coming! Now please, this way"said Taun We as she directed Obi-Wan to the prime minister. The door slides open to reveal the prime minister smiling and standing awaiting the Jedi's arrival.

"May I present Lama Su, the prime minister of Kamino...And this is Master Jedi..."Taun We said.

"Obi-Wan Kenobi" said Master Kenobi.

"I trust you are going to enjoy your stay. Please" Lama Su said as he gestured to a chair.

"And now to business you will be delighted to hear that we are on schedule. Two hundred thousand units are ready with a million more on the way" said Lama Su.

"That's... good news" said Obi-Wan confused.

"Please tell your master Sifo-Dyas that his order will be met on time" said Lama Su.

"I'm sorry Master-" asked Obi-Wan?

"Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas is still a leading member of the Jedi council is he not" asked Lama Su?

"Master Sifo-Dyas was killed almost ten years ago" said Obi-Wan.

"Oh I'm so sorry to hear that, but I'm sure he would've been proud of the army we built for him" said Obi-Wan.

"The army" asked Obi-Wan?

"Yes a clone army, and I must say one of the finest we've created" said Prime minister Su.

"Tell me prime minister when my master first contacted you about the army, did he say who it was for" asked Obi-Wan?

"Of course he did! This army is for the Republic. But you must be anxious to inspect the units for yourself" said Lama Su.

"That's why I'm here" said Obi-Wan playing along as they both rise and head toward the troops

Back on Naboo Anakin, Padmé and the Autobots were inthe lake country on the landing platform where the water speeder had stopped and let Anakin and Padmé out. Bumblebee and Wheelie had arrived earlier so that they could help set up the living quarters. Anakin and Padmé make their way up the stairs and saw the pristine and natural beauty of Naboo's unspoiled land.

"We used to come here for school retreat. We would swim to that island everyday. I love the water. We used to lie out on the sand and let the sun dry us, and try to guess the names of the birds singing" said Padmé.

"I don't like sand. It's course and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth" Anakin said as he strokes his hand across Padmé's exposed skin.

Padmé turns her head and and stares into Anakin's eyes. Anakin smiles softly but his smile fades. Suddenly as both the padawan and the senator gaze lovingly at each other they lean in, as if some magnetic force had pulled them together and to seal their forbidden love they both kissed passionately. They both felt their soulmate for the first time until...

"No, I shouldn't have done that"Padmé said as she pulled away.

"I'm sorry " Anakin said.

Knowing what they had done Anakin and Padmé both turned and continued to look at the lake.

Back on Kamino Obi-Wan, Taun We, and the prime minister were walking down the hall in the incubation room where the clones have been growing.

"Very impressive" said Obi-Wan.

"I knew you would be pleased. Clones can think creatively, you'll find that they are immensely superior to droids. We take pride in our combat education and training programs. This group was created five years ago"said Lama Su turning to the group of young clones wearing helmets to enhance their minds.

"You mentioned growth acceleration" said Obi-Wan.

"Oh yes it's essential, otherwise a mature clone would take a lifetime to grow. Now we can do it in half the time" said Lama Su.

"I see" said Obi-Wan.

"They are totally obedient taking any order without question. We modified their genetic structure making them less independent than the original host" Lama Su.

"And Who was the original host" asked Obi-Wan?

"A bounty hunter called Jango Fett" said Lama Su.

"And where is this bounty hunter now" asked Obi-Wan?

" Oh we keep him here. Apart from his pay which is considerable Fett demanded one thing. An unaltered clone for himself curious isn't it"asked Lama Su?

"Unaltered" asked Obi-Wan?

"Pure genetic replication, no tampering with the structure to make it more docile, and no growth acceleration. We also have the Autobot's Medical officer Ratchet to help assist in the training programs as well as the technological advances to make the units prepared Incase of any Decepticon threats" said Lama Su.

"I would very much like to meet this Jango Fett and Ratchet"said Obi-Wan.

"I would be very happy to arrange it for you" said Taun We.

All three of them stood on a balcony as the clones marched in formation and assembling all covered in white from head to toe gathering ready for battle

"Magnificent aren't they"asked Lama Su?
