Author's Note: This fanfic was requested by MarioLover3752. Thank goodness they did, and thankfully, I made this just in time for the upcoming Amphibia Season 3 premier. The Season 2 finale was utterly breathtaking and I can't wait to see how this next season will carry on now that everything has changed.
I am also brainstorming other crossover fanfics involving Marvel characters. Thanks to MarioLover3752 and a few other writers, I have come up with some good ones. I am currently up to three characters who I wish to make a fanfic of: Venom, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), and She-Hulk. If anyone has any crossover ideas involving them, I'd like to hear it.
Hope you enjoy this fanfic. Any and all comments are welcome.
The story of Wakanda begins as follows. Before the age of man, a massive meteor struck the Earth, in the land which would become Africa. It wasn't just any meteor. It was made of vibranium, the strongest metal in the universe. The meteor created an unusual effect on the plants and wildlife around it.
When humanity came to existence, five tribes waged war over the vibranium. However, the cat god, Bast, blessed one man with a heart-shaped herb giving him enhanced speed, strength, and instincts. That man became the first Black Panther, and with his skills, he brought most of the five tribes to peace. And so, the nation of Wakanda was born.
These days, Wakanda has become more technologically advanced than any other nation on Earth. But due to the natural greed and lust for power that all other humans have, they decided to keep to themselves disguising themselves as a poor country with a moderate monarchy.
Though, the natural curiosity of the outside world does draw those of royal blood. Everyone becomes curious. And so, the royal young are hereby given opportunity to live a simple life as Wakandan transfer students. This generation, the benefit falls onto the current king's two children, T'Challa and Shuri.
Shuri groaned loudly as she opened up her science textbook. Across the school yard table, T'Challa turned his head with curiosity at his sister.
"You cannot be having trouble already, are you?" T'Challa asked. "You're a prodigy."
"It's not that, brother." Shuri said. "It's that this is so easy, it's boring. Wakandan preschool had more complicated algebra problems than whatever's on these pages."
"Well, we're going to have to endure it." T'Challa said. "We only have to do this until graduation."
"But that's so far away." Shuri said. "When Baba told us we had to experience outside life, I thought I'd actually, you know, experience life. But with this school schedule, these underwhelming homework problems, and Okoye who's supervising us at home, I might as well be confined in my room on Wakanda."
"Well, at least we made some friends." T'Challa said. "Like that one girl, Anne. She and her friends are quite fun."
"Well, Marcy is fun to be around, I admit." Shuri said. "She may be lost in her head at times, but at least she's quite intelligent for her age."
"Exactly." T'Challa said. "And who knows? Perhaps we'll make some more friends while we're here."
"Sounds like ya'll are in the market." That voice wasn't anywhere near African. The two royal teens turned to see another boy approach. He was African-American with curly hair. "Sup."
"Hello." T'Challa greeted.
"Name's Erik Stevens. I heard y'all are transfers from Africa. That's nice."
"Yeah." Shuri said. "I'm Shuri. This is my older brother, T'Challa."
"Shuri and T'Challa. Hmm. Gotta remember to memorize those names. I certainly wouldn't want to forget the names of my new friends."
"Well, that's nice of you." T'Challa said. "Why don't you have a seat?"
"Sure." Erik sat down in between the two siblings. "So where exactly are you two from?"
"Wakanda." Shuri answered.
"Hmm. Not too familiar with it."
"Wouldn't blame you." T'Challa said. "There's not much to see. Just acres of farmland as far as the eye can see."
"Sounds rough." Erik said. "Still, bet it's still better than my life."
"What do you mean?" Shuri asked.
Erik sighed. "Well… Life can get hard around here, especially to folks who look like me. I'm not exactly a stranger to prejudice. It still messes people up in the street."
"That's awful." Shuri commented.
"That's life, I'm afraid." Erik continued.
"Believe me, Erik," T'Challa said, "If there was anything that could be done, I'd do it."
Erik smiled. "Thanks. I'll remember that. So, I saw a couple of vending machines around the corner. How about I get a couple of cans for us? Anything you two want?"
"Well, I've always wanted to try a root beer." T'Challa said.
"Just a Diet Coke for me please." Shuri said.
"Coming up." Erik got up from his table and turned to leave.
"See that, Shuri?" T'Challa asked. "A new friend."
"I hope so." Shuri said. "Brother, what did you mean when you said you'd do something about the prejudice if you could?"
"What do you mean?"
"T'Challa, we have all the resources we can possibly give to the other nations. Heck, I can probably build something right now. We can put an end to this oppression."
"Or we can make it worse." T'Challa said. "You remember what Baba said. The outside world will always look for a way to further conflict. If word of how advanced Wakanda really is could somehow be leaked to the public, the governments might see it as an opportunity or an act of war. We have to be careful about Wakandan tech."
"And yet, you still carry that necklace I made on you." Shuri said. T'Challa brushed his hand on the black panther medallion necklace he wore around his neck. "That thing will give you the full vibranium Black Panther costume in an instant. I designed it that way."
"Well, I only use it for emergencies." T'Challa said. "Look. If there's a way to help the world without endangering Wakanda, I promise, I'll use it."
Shuri sighed without saying another word.
T'Challa, Shuri, and Erik continued sharing their sodas and conversations even after leaving the school and walking across the park. They threw away their cans and kept walking.
"Well, this was a fun talk," T'Challa said, "But me and Shuri need to return home."
"That's cool." Erik said. "If you two ever want to hang out again, I'll be free."
"Thanks. That's really…"
"Hold on, T'Challa." Shuri said. She pointed at a nearby playground where three girls sat on a park table. "Isn't that Anne, Sasha, and Marcy?"
T'Challa looked at the three girls. One was a blonde girl with a jean jacket on. Another was a Chinese girl with a sweater vest. The last was a Thai girl who pulled a green and gold box out of her backpack.
"You're right." T'Challa said. He approached the three with Shuri and Erik behind them. "What are you three up to?"
"IT WASN'T ME!" the Thai girl panicked trying to hide the box.
"Smooth, Anne." The blonde girl said. "It's just T'Challa and Shuri… along with a new guy."
"Hey. I'm Erik."
"Hi. I'm Sasha. This is Marcy and you've already met Anne."
Anne chuckled with an embarrassed blush. "What's up, T'Challa?"
"Well, we were just passing through when we saw you girls. You aren't up to anything, are you?"
"Don't worry about it." Marcy said. "We're just hanging out with Anne to celebrate her birthday."
"Today's your birthday?" T'Challa gasped. "Oh, Bast. I didn't know, Anne. I wish I could've…"
Anne chuckled. "Don't sweat it. You're new here, so I won't hold it against you."
"What's that in your hand anyway?" Shuri asked.
"Oh, this?" Anne asked holding up the box. A better look at it showed three gems in the lid (one blue, one green, and one red) along with a frog image on the base. "Marcy found it at an old pawn shop a couple blocks from here. Thought it'd be a nice birthday present."
"So what is it?" Erik asked.
"I think it's some kind of music box." Marcy said. "Not sure where it's from though."
"Huh? Me either." Erik said. "And I'm quite the anthropologist."
"Well, let's not just answer." Sasha said turning to Anne. "Open it up already. Let's see if it works."
Erik moved behind Sasha. Shuri stood beside Marcy. T'Challa stayed at Anne's side while she popped the lid open. But suddenly, as soon as it did, a bright light emitted from the inside of the box. A mixture of red, green, and blue lights shot out quickly engulfing the six who were taken completely by surprise.
When the light dimmed, Anne and T'Challa groaned sitting back up. Anne saw that the same music box she opened was right in front of her with its lid open, but completely empty. T'Challa on the other hand looked and saw that not only were he and Anne alone, but they were surrounded by a large terrain of jungle bushes with strange animal sounds echoing from the distance.
"What is this?" T'Challa asked. "Anne, where are we? Where are the others?"
"I… I don't know." Anne replied without a single clue.
