A/N: Disclaimer: I do not own Assassination Classroom or Danny Phantom characters or original storylines, all right go to the original creators of both series (Assassination Classroom: Yusei Matsui. Danny Phantom: Butch Hartman.). I only own the plot and any characters created for this fanfic.
Also, I write this for fun, so while I'm trying to be faithful to the characters and storylines of the original content, I am not stressing about all the details. I'll be trying to post on the weekends to my fanfics, but I work a second job that can sometimes take up what little free time I have. While I welcome any suggestions, please keep the above in mind.
Early February
Danny was heading towards Clockwork's castle after receiving a summons from the old stopwatch. He had just gotten home from school when the summons had appeared on the desk in his room. This wasn't the first time Clockwork had summoned him for some kind of mission.
As Danny approached the entrance of the castle, he was already starting to mourn the loss of his weekend freedom. Thinking about the fact he won't be able to spend the next two days playing DOOM with Sam and Tucker, he let out a sigh. Though, he did have to admit the chances of them being able to play the full weekend, completely uninterrupted by ghosts, was fairly low.
"Ah, Young One," Clockwork greeted as Danny entered the main hall of the castle.
"Hey Clockwork, I got your summons. What's up?" Danny asked, crossing his legs while floating.
"Skulker will soon have a new prey to go after. If he is successful in his efforts to obtain said prey, it will threaten the safety of the Infinite Realms." Clockwork informed him.
"Let me guess, you're wanting me to stop him from succeeding? When and where are you going to send me?" Danny asked, knowing Clockwork would only reveal what he'd deemed necessary about Skulker's new target.
"For now, you will wait for a contact from a friend of mine that will be able to get you close to the hunter's new obsession." Clockwork told him.
"Didn't know you had any friends, Stop Watch." Danny responded.
"There is much about me that it is not yet time for you to learn," Clockwork replied.
"Cryptic as always," Danny quipped as he was leaving.
One Week later:
A week had passed since Danny had visited Clockwork to learn of his newest task the old stopwatch had had for him. Still no contact from the friend that he had mentioned. While Danny knew that the visit would come at some point, he was starting to wonder when that point was going to be. Because of that, he was a bit surprised when, almost exactly a week after his meeting with Clockwork, he arrived home to find his parents talking to an older Asian man.
"Danny, come meet our guest," his mother, Maddie, waved him over. "This is Mr. Asahi Ito. He is here because a friend of his recommended you for a special program he rounds back in Japan."
"Danny, he wants to teach you how to hunt Japanese Ghosts!" Danny's overexcited father, Jack, exclaimed.
Danny looked at each of the adults sitting in his living room while he was trying to get caught up on what was going on. "Mr Ito? You said a friend of yours recommended me?"
"That is correct, Daniel-San, our mutual friend told me he had already informed you he was going to reach out to me last week?"
"I prefer Danny," Danny corrected off handedly while trying to think of anyone who would have recommended him to a Japanese Ghost hunter. The only person he could think of that had told him he was referring him to a friend was Clockwork, but that didn't make sense. The man in front of him had told his parents he was going to teach him Japanese ghost hunting techniques. "Sir, I don't remember anyone telling me about a Japanese Ghost Hunting program."
"Not surprising, this particular friend can be vague at times. He told me you were needing help with hunting a particular hunter." Mr. Ito replied.
"The old StopWatch sent you?" Danny asked surprised.
"Yes, Tokei Shikake-Sama sent me."
"Honestly, Mr Ito, you aren't exactly what I was expecting when he told me a friend of his would be reaching out." Danny admitted.
"Danny, who is Tokei Shikake?" Maddie asked, not remembering her son ever talking about someone with a similar name.
"He's been tutoring me a bit on history and some other things." Danny tried to vaguely explain. It was sort of true, seeing as how Clockwork had sent him to the past to chase after Plasmius, so he had learned more about history during that chase than he had ever learned before.
"Tokei Shikake-Sama has told me how bright young Danny-San is, and how he seems to be struggling in his current school." Mr Ito added in. "The school that he would be going to while in training with me is one of the best in the area."
Maddie and Jack shared a look with each other. Jack's enthusiasm seemed to be cooling as he realized that Danny would have to go to Japan in order to learn how to hunt Japanese ghosts. Both were concerned with the idea of their youngest going so far away without at least one of them going with him. They were also both too busy with their research here in Amity Park for either of them to take some time off to join him.
"Mr. Ito, as much as we may think Danny could benefit from your program, we are worried that he is still too young to be so far away without one of us or another adult we already know and trust going with him." Maddie finally said.
"Dr. and Dr. Fenton, I can understand your concern, but I can assure you that I would do my best not to let any undue harm come to your son while in my care," Mr Ito promised Danny's parents. "It's not often that one can get an opportunity such as this one. Danny-San, I believe, would not only benefit greatly from learning the ghost hunting techniques that I can teach him, but also from experiencing the many different aspects of my culture."
"Mr Ito, I don't doubt that, but I'm just not sure that Danny is ready for a trip like this one." Maddie responded.
"Mom, I'm ready. I'm already 14 and despite not showing any interest, I already know a lot about ghost hunting from you guys." Danny tried to argue.
"Danny, I'm not just worried about the ghosts that you may face in Japan, it's also the people. Amity Park's crime rate is really low, even before the ghosts started showing up." Maddie explained. "You can't handle the human criminals the same way you can handle the ghost scum that keeps attacking your high school."
"Drs Fenton, the area of Japan in which I reside is much like Amity Park when you look at it's overall crime rate and size," Mr. Ito explained.
"Maddie," Jack decided to add, "Danny is our son, a Fenton, he'll be fine."
"Oh Jack, I know that, but he is still my baby boy, and I'm just worried!" Maddie confessed. After a brief silence, she asked, "When would he have to leave?"
"Preferably in the next week or two so that he has enough time to prepare for the school's entrance exam. Their new school year starts in April, so he won't have much time to prepare."
"The next week or two?! That soon?" Maddie asked. Seeming resigned, "I guess we better get started with the preparations."
A/N: I'm going to do my best with representing Japanese culture, and am open to minor critiques. But I'm also not changing my timeline. The fact he would be entering the third year of Junior high, they would probably need special permissions for the entrance exam either way. Not to mention ghostly interference when needed. I do need some help deciding what direction to take the "Japanese Ghost Hunting" bit. At least an idea for Asahi Ito's actual profession that could be lazily called a ghost hunter by someone like Jack & Maddie Fenton, even if they aren't as "all ghosts are evil" as the Fentons.
