Finally finished this arc!
I did a lot of research on anything related to the Spider-Verse to try and figure out what the plot should be. I'd already decided not to use any of the Spider-Verse movies. I feel like this could've been done sooner, but delays with Fang kept coming up.
Plus, Zendaya's new movie "Challengers" came out. I saw it, thought it was great, but it wasn't my kind of movie. The plot and the characters bothered me; not that I'm gonna criticize anyone who loved the movie. That's up to you. Still, Zendaya's performance was great, like always!
Anyway, hope you guys enjoy this chapter! This event is split into two parts, by the way!
I own nothing from Marvel, Spider-Man
Chapter 14: The Spider-Verse: Part 1
~~~~~~Earth 325~~~~~~
Neo Domino City Museum of Natural History
Doctor Strange restrained Baron Mordo with his Eldritch Whips before Aaron Flynn, wearing his Spider-Man suit, delivered a kick to his face, knocking him down!
"You do remember that museum souvenirs are in the gift shop, right?" Aaron questioned rhetorically before he picked up a stone tablet with green markings on it, then handed it to Strange.
"The Tablet of Order and Chaos," The sorcerer stated. "I agree that this doesn't belong in a museum, it also shouldn't be in the hands of someone like you, Mordo."
"You'll pay for this!" Mordo shouted. "How dare you disrupt the natural order?!"
"Nothing apocalyptic has been happening for a long time, dude!" Aaron refuted. "You're just blowing smoke."
"You could never understand, Spider-Man," Mordo said. "You thrive on chaos."
"No, that's Deadpool...most of the time," Aaron retorted. "But...no. I'm not even gonna give my opinion, cause I know you won't care. Guys like you never learn."
Mordo used his Vaulting Boots of Valtorr to maneuver in the air, created a few illusion copies of himself, then used his Staff of the Living Tribunal to grab the Tablet, and throw Aaron and Strange across the room! Aaron recovered and sling-shot himself at the rogue sorcerer, who'd just gotten the Tablet in his grasp. Aaron performed a split kick when he reached him, kicking Mordo in the cheek and knocking the Tablet out of his grip...or...at least that was his intent...
He accidently put more force into his kick than intended and ended up breaking the Tablet, releasing a large glowing-green wave that blew them all away! Not only that, but the wave was so huge, it could be seen from all over the city! Thankfully, it didn't damage or kill anything it went over.
Aaron recovered first, holding his head, "I'm guessing that was bad?"
"Most likely," Strange responded, groaning a bit.
Just as Mordo was about to rant, Aaron webbed his mouth shut,
"Shut it up! I don't need a lecture from a rigid, self-righteous hypocrite like you."
He even tied him up with webs, and for good measure, took his relics.
"Okay...now what?"
Earth 199
"I knew you two would make a beautiful baby," Ned commented as took some pics of Anya with his phone.
Anya giggled as she held her stuffed dog, which caused Ned to laugh with her.
"And she's adorable to boot!" he added.
"That's our girl," MJ said as she gently stroked Anya's head, then kissed her little cheeks several times.
Peter was putting dishes in the dishwasher when he heard a piercing ringing sound in his ears, and even felt it in his brain! It even caused him to drop a glass!
And MJ felt the same thing! Both of them cringed and screamed in pain a bit!
"Whoa! Guys, what's wrong?!" Ned asked in worry.
Surprised by the screaming, Anya started crying, prompting MJ to pick her up and sooth her.
"That was...I don't even know..." Peter muttered. "I just heard some kind of piercing shrill and I think it affected my Spider-Sense..."
"That's weird, cause I didn't hear anything" Ned stated, then turned to MJ. "Did you hear it?"
"Yeah, same as Peter described," she answered, then went back to soothing her baby. "Shh, it's okay baby girl. Mommy and daddy didn't mean to scare you."
After hearing her mother's reassurances, Anya soon calmed down.
"Okay, now I'm more concerned," Ned muttered. "If only you two heard it, then it's a safe bet that this is spider-related."
MJ then saw a transparent projection of a large spider web appear in the living room,
"Oh, that's a pretty safe bet."
"Ned, are you seeing this?" Peter asked.
"Uh huh," Ned responded, quietly.
Then a face appeared in the web; it was a young woman with long red hair and wearing black-rimmed glasses that looked much like a mask. The lenses were red and reflective.
"Spider-Man, you are needed," The woman stated. "A threat to the multiverse is in effect, with you at the center of it..."
"Whoa, wait, the multiverse?!" Peter questioned. "I haven't done anything!"
"No, you haven't," The woman confirmed. "However, you are still needed in order to stop it."
"What do you mean?" MJ asked. "What's happening?"
The woman's face swirled until it vanished, but the web grew larger until it took over the entire half of the apartment it was on. What's more, behind the web was a dark, endless void filled with green smoke.
The woman appeared again, this time with her full body. She was around Betty's height, wearing a red leather trench coat, red gloves, black pants and red boots. With her was a familiar face to the trio.
"Hey guys!" Aaron Flynn greeted them, smiling.
"Aaron!" everyone exclaimed before hugging him, which he happily returned.
"What are you doing here?" asked Peter.
"Cause this is kinda my fault," Aaron responded sheepishly. "Recently, the Karl Mordo of my Earth attempted to steal an artifact called the Tablet of Order and Chaos. The Doctor Strange of my Earth and I tried to stop him...but...I accidently broke it during the fight."
"You broke it?" Peter repeated. "Wait...is that what caused the headache MJ and I felt?!"
"Indeed," The woman answered. "Aaron shattering the Tablet resonated throughout dimensions, alerting every spider-hero to this crisis."
"Hold on, who are you?" Ned asked.
"Call me Madame Web," The woman introduced herself. "And this is the Web of Reality. With it, I can see all possible futures on every world." (1)
Images began to appear along the web, all of different spider-themed heroes. One image had two Spider-Men, one wore the usual red and blue, but had a large white spider on the chest and back, and white-knuckle things on the hands. His partner wore a black costume with red webbing, a red spider on the chest and red-lined eyes.
Then there was one Spider-Man, but he was in more of a Noir Detective scenario, complete with sepia tones, trench coat, and fedora.
Then one whose suit that had the Union Jack on the red, and aqua-colored blue.
Another one was a female wearing a white, black and dark pink suit. She even had a hood.
There was also a Spider-Man wearing a suit of armor, much like the knights of medieval times, and a Spider-Man that was sitting inside the cockpit of a Gundam-like mech.
And finally, one Spider-Man wearing a jean-jacket and had a spiked mohawk on his head, and another whose costume was mostly blue, but with some weird looking red colored eyes, red lines going up his arms to his shoulders and into a large skull-spider symbol on his chest. His arms even had two red blades on them.
"Wow, I had no idea there were so many," Ned muttered in bewilderment. "This one looks like he's from the future."
"He is; on that Earth, it's 2099," Aaron responded.
"This one looks like a film noir," MJ pointed out.
"Uh, okay...that time I mentioned a cartoon pig version of me...I was just joking..." Peter deadpanned when he saw Spider-Ham.
MJ tried not to laugh, but she did snicker just a little bit.
"And check out this one in the white and pink suit," said Ned.
"That's Earth 65, where Gwen Stacy became Spider-Woman," Aaron stated.
"Wait, Gwen?!" Peter questioned. "No way!"
Madame Web cleared her throat to get back on topic, "The shards of the Tablet have scattered across these dimensions, including yours and Aaron's. I need you, and the other spider-heroes to find them. I've explained our dire situation to others; they will gather the fragments in their dimensions, while you gather the ones in yours. But beware; like moths to a flame, those with less noble hearts will be drawn to the unleashed power of the Tablet, gaining new and frightening powers."
"This sounds like a scavenger hunt with the biggest case of a needle in a haystack," MJ commented. "Unless we know exactly where to look, it would take years to find all the pieces of the Tablet." (2)
Madame Web smirked, "Thankfully, I've augmented your Spider-Senses to detect the fragments. It'll lead you right to them."
"Okay, then I'm gonna get started! See you guys later," Aaron said before he vanished. Peter had to take a minute to come to grips with everything. Holding Anya definitely helped.
"So, how are we gonna do this?" Ned asked.
"I have no idea," Peter muttered.
"Um...might be my imagination, but I think I'm sensing a fragment nearby," MJ interjected.
"You do?" asked Peter. "Where's it coming from?"
"I don't have an exact idea, just follow what direction it's in," she answered.
Right after she said that, Peter sensed it as well.
"I can sense it, too," he said. "And I think I might have a good idea."
Ned grabbed the spider-symbol piece for Peter's suit as he handed Anya to MJ.
"Okay sweetie, Daddy's gotta go to work, kay?"
Anya cooed as she waved her little fingers at Peter, who smiled before he placed the Spider-Symbol on his chest, causing his suit to appear.
MJ kissed his masked cheek, "Be safe."
Peter then jumped out the window and swung in the direction his Spider-Sense was leading him. Strangely, it led him off Manhattan Island and all the way to an abandoned quarry.
He found the shard just lying in the sand, waiting for him...
'This is too easy...so, why's my spider-sense tingling? ...Oh no; a huge place full of sand! Please don't be-!'
Suddenly, a huge fist made out of sand appeared and punched Peter into the air! He recovered by web-zipping over to a scaffold. He looked around and saw the fragment was gone, obviously taken by the one who attacked him; Flint Marko, The Sandman.
"Sandy?!" Spidey called, looking around. "Marko?!"
"POLO!" Sandman's voice remarked around the area.
That's when he suddenly emerged behind Spidey from the sand, holding the fragment in his hand. He then turned into a giant tornado of sand!
"And I thought my jokes were bad!" Spidey commented as he was perched on the scaffold.
As the tornado moved down the quarry, it scattered some crates and barrels into the air, which Spidey web-zipped along to go after Sandman. As he got closer, he stopped near a water tank.
"Water plus sand equals a bad day for Marko!" Spidey stated as he used his webs to pull on the tank with all his might, then poured it onto the sand tornado! It shrunk down until there was a swirl in the sand on the ground, and Sandman burst out of it! His lower body was still a twister of sand, but now his eyes were glowing yellow.
"This is awesome!" he boasted. "With this rock, I can control any sand I see now! Any sand at all!"
"So you're basically Gaara from Naruto," Spidey commented. "You know, you'd make a killing in the landscaping business."
"Oh, I'll make a killing, all right!" Sandman shouted as he charged at Spidey, who easily swung out of his path before he burst open a water pipe, which splashed Sandman and turned him more into a Mudman, but that still didn't stop him. At the very least, his body was much more solid and a bit slower, which made him a much easier target for Spidey, who kept hitting him with several barrels. Still, Marko turned his hands into a hammer or mace to attack, which the web-head easily dodged and retaliated with several kicks! Eventually, though, Marko decided that he wasn't going to take it, for he roared in frustration.
"I got a better idea to take care of you!" he shouted before he transformed into his sand tornado and flew off.
"Well, that's nice and...ominous," Peter stated before going inside a nearby building, which had a lot of sand on the floor. "Hey Sandy, where'd you go?"
The doors were then blocked by sand, "I don't need to fight you in person anymore!"
Some of the sand then took a new shape; it kind of reminded Peter of the Mole-Men, but it was made entirely out of sand!
"Okay, that's new," he gulped.
Even so, it was still made of sand, and when hit with the water from the pipes, the sand puppets were still no match for Spidey, who destroyed them! The sand blocking the doors cleared away, revealing the next area, where Sandman was once again a sand tornado! Peter made note that all the buildings in the area were too worn out to safely web-swing from. He'd have to web-zip across thrown debris, again. Of course, it was no problem for Spidey...unless something got thrown at him, such as a Volkswagen! As he zipped from platform to platform, some of them got sucked up by the tornado! Thankfully, Spidey was still fast enough to avoid getting sucked in with them, and he managed to reach the center where Marko was waiting for him.
He knocked over a large water tank into the tornado, making Sandman scream in rage!
"What's wrong?" Spidey questioned. "Moisturizing is good for your skin!"
"Damn you!" Sandman yelled before he turned into a tornado, again, and escaped into an old mine shaft.
"Hey, where you goin'?" Spidey asked mockingly as he swung after him. "Can I come, too? Huh, huh?!"
As he entered the mining tunnel, "Great, going into the old spooky mine... Will we have to solve a mystery and unmask someone dressed as a ghost or a Miner Forty Niner as well? If so, my money's on old-man Jenkins!"
After the joke, he came into a large open space, "Okay, I've seen enough scary movies with MJ to know that this is usually the moment when the monster appears."
Sandman's giant hand came out of the deep chasm in front of him, then emerged as a giant, with junk from the mine sticking out of him!
"I'LL KILL YOU!" Sandman roared as he glowered down at Spidey.
"No thanks!"
The web-head noticed some carts filled with water barrels, so he moved toward one when Sandman tried to crush him with his fist! Unfortunately for Marko, that only caused water to get sprayed onto his arm, allowing Spidey to land several hits on him before he managed to get his arm free. Not being one to fall for the same trick again; Sandman kept his hands against the walls and fired sand-balls from his mouth at the web-slinger!
"When all else fails, hit 'em head-on!" Spidey exclaimed before he sent several water barrels at Sandman's head!
He then fell down, letting the hero get several hard-hits in! That proved to be too much for Marko, who soon fled from the mines.
Spidey kept moving further into the mine, where he heard Sandman talking...
"I'll crush you! No, no; bury him! Drown him in sand!"
"Uh, Flint? I dunno if spreading your consciousness across multiple creatures was such a good idea."
Sure enough, the Sand Creatures appeared, but thanks to Spidey busting open some water pipes, they were soon reduced to puddles of mud.
He then started web-swinging down a tunnel, when a big wave of sand started coming in behind him! With Sandman's face in it!
"Crap, this just turned into The Mummy Returns!"
"You can't stop me now, web-head!" Marko exclaimed. "I've spread my mind too far! I am nowhere! I AM EVERYWHERE! HAHAHAHA!"
"Well, I'm really happy for ya," Spidey began while he was swinging web-by-web, "But talking to nowhere and everywhere at the same time can be a little distracting!"
Sandman was nearly on top of him when he saw the exit!
"This gonna be close!" He managed to swing out in the nick-of-time before the wave of sand crushed him. "I am not going on that ride again!"
However, the ground suddenly shook, and before Spidey could attempt to escape, he was soon entrapped in another Sand Tornado!
Sandman laughed maniacally, "It's the end of the line for you, Spider-Schmuck! I'll finish you!"
That's when several more faces appeared, all of them talking at once.
"Make sure to kill him slowly! I want him to suffer!"
"No! Kill him now!"
"Don't give him a chance to escape!"
"Marko, your consciousness is spreading too thin!" Spidey called out in warning. "That fragment is making you too powerful!"
"You would say that!"
"Wait, what if he's right?"
"No, it's a trick!"
"It's not a trick; I can feel it!"
"Shut up! Admit it, he's right!"
"He's lying!"
"Shut up! All of you, just SHUT UP!"
It was clear that all of this was putting too much of a strain on Marko's mind. Spidey knew he had to end this and end it, NOW.
Two of Sandman's faces went away as the web-head web-zipped among the scattered debris, looking for water barrels. As he swung about, he had to escape from Sandman's attempt to suck him into a large vacuum before he spat out a huge ball of sand and debris! Peter grabbed a water barrel with his webs and threw it at Sandman's face, which turned him into mud and shrunk him! As soon as he was vulnerable, Spidey rushed in and landed several hits on his hardened body before finally punching him in the jaw!
Sandman's face eventually returned to normal and retreated into the tornado. When his face came back, it split into two! Both faces laughed evilly, making mocking threats at Spidey, but he remained undeterred. One of them sucked up some debris, while the other spat sand-balls at the web-head!
As Spidey kept swinging, he attempted to hit one of the faces with water. However, when he hit one, that one would disappear, therefore, he realized that only one face was the real Sandman. Some large fists of sand burst out from the bottom of the tornado, but he managed to avoid them! He threw another barrel at the other face, which turned into mud!
Spidey web-zipped over and delivered several kicks to his face, until the tornado finally went away and Sandman collapsed!
"Whew! Wasn't exactly a day at the beach, but it was worth it." He then picked up the fragment that Marko had been using.
"And now to clean the sand out of my shorts," he said before he swung away.
Earth 325
Aaron swung around Neo Domino City, using his upgraded spider-sense to find fragments.
'Wait, am I sensing one of the fragments...getting closer?'
Something then punched him out of the air and onto a rooftop!
"OOF!" Aaron cried as he collided with one of the buildings. "Well...at least I found one."
"I thought you'd be fast enough to dodge me," The one who attacked him taunted. Said individual was clad in purple-colored full-body armor, with glowing orange lines, glowing red eyes, orange-colored horns, claws and wings. (3)
As he was lifted up by his throat, Aaron questioned. "What are you supposed to be? The Purple Demon?"
"You can call me...the Hobgoblin!" The villain announced before he pulled Aaron closer to his face. "Every Spider-Man needs one!"
"Newsflash 'Hobbie', you're not my first Goblin," Aaron responded.
"Ah, but this Goblin has one thing the others never had," Hobgoblin boasted, and Spidey saw what was in his hand...
"The fragment?!"
"Yes!" Hobgoblin exclaimed. "And with its powers, I'm going to tear this world apart!" With that, he laughed maniacally as he tossed Aaron off the roof!
He then flew down ahead, so Aaron went into a freefall! When he got close enough, he web-zipped over to Hobgoblin and punched him repeatedly!
"Get OFF!" Hobgoblin shouted as he shoved Aaron off, then held out a pair of Pumpkin Bombs. "Sorry we can't spend more quality time together!" He then threw the bombs at Aaron, attempting to knock him out of the air! Aaron's expertise at freefalling allowed him to avoid them, then he web-zipped over to Hobgoblin again and punched him again, then jumped away so the villain would crash into the rooftop just below them!
However...
"Nice try, but my Nanofiber wings broke the fall," Hobgoblin boasted.
"Nanofiber?! How'd you get your claws on that?" Aaron questioned.
"Oh, wouldn't you like to know!" Hobgoblin taunted.
"Yeah...that's...why I asked."
Hobgoblin hovered around the rooftop and threw a Pumpkin Bomb at the hero, who threw it back with his webs, making the villain collapse! Aaron sped over and delivered some fast punches and kicks to the downed villain, who eventually recovered! But then Aaron hit him with one of the hidden repulsors in his suit, knocking Hobgoblin down again! Aaron slammed him face-first into the ground, twice, then jumped and web-slingshot into his back, making him plant his face in the ground again!
Hobgoblin got up and began to fly away, "I'd love to stay and play, but I've got places to destroy...people to kill!"
With that, he soon flew off, laughing maniacally as he fled, but Aaron soon swung after him.
"See, this is why I could never be a supervillain. I don't laugh at my own jokes."
Chasing Hobgoblin through the city was tough, especially with him throwing bombs wherever he went! Luckily, Aaron's friend Zero Hikari, aka Mega-Man X showed up and kept the damage to a minimum.
"You heroes, always spoiling a good thing!" Hobgoblin complained.
Aaron's suit HUD identified something in the villain's suit, "Nanofiber mesh? You didn't do this to yourself; someone made you!"
"Very perceptive," Hobgoblin responded. "Why don't we meet up top? I hear the view is to die for."
With that, he flew upwards with Aaron giving chase after him.
"Hey, don't wait on my account! If I'm not there in five minutes, start beating yourself up without me!"
He jumped onto a waiting elevator and it went up. Soon, he reached the top floor, where he found Hobgoblin waiting for him.
"Don't take this the wrong way," Aaron began. "But the more I get to know you, the less I like you."
"Oh, but there's SO much more to learn about me!" Hobgoblin exclaimed. "Take my psi-powers, for instance."
His body started glowing orange, along with a purple sphere surrounding him, and the sky turned red!
"Not bed, eh? Let's see what happens when I add the fragment's power to the mix."
Three copies of himself appeared, but they were more demonic looking!
"What the f-?!" Aaron muttered.
"OHH, I like this!" A giant shadowed silhouette of Hobgoblin appeared to overlook the rooftop. The only detail that could be seen of it were its red eyes.
"This...this can't be real..."
"WELCOME TO MY REALITY, SPIDER-MAN!"
Soon, the copies went on the attack, swooping in on Aaron from all around! But he quickly got rid of them by firing some dart-stingers from the wrists of his suit! Hobgoblin got off of his perch and flew over the roof, dropping a row of pumpkin bombs as he went! Thankfully, Aaron managed to get out of the way, but that only made Hobgoblin cackle madly as he flew overheard.
"Look who's running scared!" he shouted, mockingly.
He then threw two pumpkin bombs at the hero, who dodged one and threw the second back at Hobgoblin with his webs, knocking him out of the sky! Aaron rushed the villain, landing fast, but powerful spin-kicks on him, until he recovered!
Hobgoblin then grabbed him in a bear-hug, "Why don't we go for a ride?"
He flew up, intending to smash Aaron into the rooftop, but he broke free and they began falling! Aaron dodged a punch Hobgoblin threw at him, then delivered several left and right crosses to his face, before grabbing his wings!
"Let's see you land without your fancy wings!" With him holding the villains' wings, he wasn't able to break the fall when he hit the rooftop, knocking him unconscious!
"Hey, you did it!" Zero cheered as he arrived.
"Yeah," Aaron replied, breathing a sigh of relief. "Now, let's get a better look at these..."
He took a closer look at Hobgoblin's wings, "Looks like nanofibers fused with...bio-organic circuitry?!"
"Only one corporation has technology advanced enough for that," Vince "Volt" Konami stated over communications.
"Yeah," Aaron picked up the fragment. "Alchemax!"
Earth 90214
The year is 1933, in a film Noir style. Like many of the other universes; Peter Parker was raised by his aunt and uncle, May and Ben Parker, during the Great Depression.
Peter tragically discovered the mutilated body of his uncle, killed in retaliation by one of New York City's businessmen for organizing a strike on sweatshops. In the weeks following Uncle Ben's murder, Peter's inherent belief in justice and standing up to the scum of society took shape under the tutelage of Daily Bugle photojournalist Ben Urich.
Following a tip meant for Urich, Peter hid in the shadows as he watched The Goblin's goons drop a crate of stolen antiques, revealing the statue of an ancient spider god. Releasing a horde of spiders. One of the spiders bit Peter, causing him to pass out and dream of a Spider-God. After waking up, he discovered he possessed arachnid superpowers. He now uses these powers to fight against Norman "The Goblin" Osborn, as well as the other monsters of society as The Spider-Man.
Peter created a suit using parts from his Uncle Ben's WWI airman uniform, consisting of a pair of goggles over a stitched-together mask, a leather trench coat, gun holsters for his revolvers and sometimes a fedora, later adding a vest that is depicted with a spider logo on the back.
Ditching the coat and fedora for a few missions, Noir watched a train pass by. He'd been working down a hit-list of Osborn's gang, from the minions to the big dogs. He'd recently taken down Hammerhead, Osborn's enforcer. Next, Osborn's right-hand-monster; a sadistic circus freak who grew to love the taste of raw flesh...like his namesake.
Adrian Toomes, The Vulture, the one who killed Peter's Uncle...and not just killed...
Noir perched on a building overlooking an alleyway where he saw Vulture's shadow munching on a rat.
"What's the matter, Toomes? No humans around for dinner?" he called out.
Vulture growled as he noticed Noir on the roof before he turned and fled into the alleys!
"You can't escape me, coward!" Noir called as he began to swing after him.
He came to a street that had a lot of goons; more than he could handle. So, he chose the indirect approach by climbing along the wall and sticking to the shadows. Whenever he came across a lookout, he'd take them out by grabbing them from behind with his webs, knocking them out, and then sticking them up against the walls while they were unconscious.
He also made sure to stay out of the spotlights from the goons' tommy guns and building windows.
"Vulture seems spooked," Some of the thugs talked to each other.
"Yeah, and that's sayin' somethin'!"
"I didn't think anything could scare him. He's usually the scariest thing around."
"Well, anything that scares a guy like THAT, scares me."
Noir snuck past them all till he came to some double-doors, which led into a warehouse. Once inside, he could hear the Vulture's sinister growls, but he could not spot him in the darkness.
"I got a bad feeling about this..."
Vulture burst through the large window and tackled the vigilante to the floor,
"No more games; it's time for the Vulture to FEAST!"
He tried to bite Noir, but he held his face back,
"Yeah? Eat this!" He then kicked him away!
The Vulture growled before he fled up into the rafters, forcing Noir to chase after him. The cannibal didn't realize he was near a searchlight, so Noir pointed it at him.
"AAAAHHH! MY EYES!" Vulture screamed as he covered his face, then Noir grabbed him and throw him into the wall!
The Vulture growled after he managed to regain his footing, then threw several daggers at Noir, only for him to dodge as he grabbed him with his webs, then pulled in close for a beatdown!
Vulture then grabbed him and jumped out the window he came through, slamming Noir into a train track! Hitting the track left him disoriented, but as he came to...
"Looks like you've got a train to catch!" Vulture taunted. "Or will it catch you?!"
He saw a train coming and fled! Noir swung across the cityscape, hurrying to catch up with Vulture. However, it wasn't very long before he ran into a problem: hostages. He quickly incapacitated every thug and saved the hostages, before continuing to chase Vulture. Eventually, he had him cornered at another warehouse.
"Couldn't leave me alone, could you?" The cannibal asked rhetorically. "You want to take this rock away from me, don't you?"
"You can't handle the fragment's power, Vulture," Noir said as he got closer.
"It wants me, it's been calling to me. Don't you hear it? No, of course not! It doesn't want you! I'm not scared of you anymore. I'm not scared of Osborn. I'm not scared of anyone! I have the rock, I have the power, and I'm going to use it!"
As Noir pushed open the doors, all he saw was an empty room...but he could hear Vulture snarling from somewhere in the shadows.
"Vulture!" he called out. "Where are you, you piece of trash-"
The cannibal suddenly appeared in a small flurry of black feathers and swung at Noir with his claws, which he dodged, then vanished in another flurry of feathers! He then appeared to the left, and Noir noticed he had an orange glowing aura around his body and orange glowing eyes. That time, he couldn't dodge fast enough and got knocked down, and that's when the Vulture pinned him!
"I like to play with my prey!" He tried to bite Noir's face off, but he avoided it, then pushed him back and delivered several hooks to the cannibal's face! Eventually, he finally managed to push the crazed cannibal off of him!
Vulture jumped onto a stack of wooden crates and pulled out a Molotov Cocktail. Noir shot a web-ball at his face, making him drop the cocktail onto the crates, lighting them on fire! The Vulture screamed in pain at the heat, then growled before he fled up into the rafters again, but Noir chased after him, not letting him escape.
He shined a spotlight on him, blinding him again, after which he disappeared in a flurry of feathers! Noir saw him hiding in the corner and started laying the smackdown on him! However, Vulture roared as he lunged for Noir again, trying to bite at his neck!
Noir dodged it, punched him in the throat, then slammed him headfirst into the ground! With that, Vulture finally passed out!
"You're done for, you filthy vermin," Noir said as he took the fragment from him, "And Osborn's next!"
Earth 199
He couldn't understand it; people had been friendly and courteous to him, thanking him for what he did for the city. Some even asked if he was wearing a new suit. Wasn't the city supposed to be divided: half believing he was a hero, the other half believing Mysterio's fake broadcast and Jameson's rants?
This was so weird.
One minute, he was web-swinging to stop another crime after stopping by Peter Pan's to check on MJ and Ned from afar, again. The next, blinding flash of green light and suddenly the weather was different! It was supposed to be winter, being that it was the start of January, but now... it was Spring temperature warm...
Something definitely wasn't right. The weather didn't forecast something like this happening in the coming days. He decided to get a bird's-eye-view of the city on top of any tall building. Once he took a good look around the city, he noticed three things that were different...
The Statue of Liberty was still the same, instead of being changed to bronze with Captain America's shield replacing the torch. There was a tall building with the word "OSCORP" on it, and the giant "A" on Avengers Tower had been changed to a giant "4".
He remembered Norman Osborn mention Oscorp, but it didn't exist on his world...oh! Of course! Now he knew what happened; he'd been sent to a Parallel Earth!
...Wait...could this mean...?!
He web-swung as fast as he could to Forest Hills Cemetery, and muttering,
"Please don't be there, please don't be there, please don't be there" over and over again.
He finally arrived and rushed to...only one headstone was there; "Ben Parker, Beloved Husband and Uncle".
'She's still alive...Aunt May is still alive...!'
Just as he was about to head toward May's apartment, he felt different kind of tingle than his regular spider-sense. It was like a...pleasant feeling. He tried his best to focus it, and realized it was pinpointing something in the city for him to go to. As he went toward it, the tingle got stronger. (4)
MJ held Anya in her arms as she gently danced to "Blinding Lights" by The Weekend. Anya laughed, loving the song and the dancing.
MJ sang along as she slowly spun around,
"I said, ooh, I'm blinded by the lights
No, I can't sleep until I feel your touch
I said, ooh, I'm drowning in the night
Oh, when I'm like this, you're the one I trust~"
MJ just smiled as she kept singing to her daughter.
"I'm running out of time,
'Cause I can see the light up in the sky,
So I hit the road in overdrive, baby, oh~!
The city's cold and empty (oh)
No one's around to judge me (oh)
I can't see clearly when you're gone~"
As she gently spun around again, she kissed her baby's forehead and whispered,
"I love you so much, mija."
Anya cooed and gurgled as she reached up and touched her mother's face. MJ's eyes became glassy as she cried happy tears at this little bundle of joy that she and Peter created through their love. But then, she felt a weird tingle from her 'Peter Radar'. It felt like he was getting close, but that couldn't be right. He was out looking for fragments of the Tablet.
But then she felt something different; it was...despair? A sense of deep heartache, mourning, guilt, and some self-blame.
She gently put Anya in her high-chair, then looked out the window Peter usually came in through after patrol. Right when she did, she saw him land and perch on a street lamp...but his costume was different.
The red and blue colors were brighter, the blue was also shiny. The spider logo on his chest was different, and it didn't look like the suit had any tech integrated into it...except for the eyes, which were as small as the ones from his previous suits.
She opened the window, then he spotted her and the eyes on his mask widened. She gestured for him to come up. He did just that, using his webs to swing to the window, where MJ let him in. After closing the window, she went to stand next to her daughter. Peter audibly gasped, not expecting to see a baby, but before he could say anything...
MJ held up her finger, "Don't speak, yet. Right now, I'll ask the questions and you answer. And don't you dare lie..."
Peter nodded in understanding; this MJ was a lot like his. She was being cautious; her tone left no room for argument.
"First, are you Peter Parker?" she asked.
Peter took off his mask, "You know me?"
MJ's eyes widened a bit; this Peter looked just like hers. But, he was slightly younger, and...his eyes...they looked so sad. The amount of grief she saw seemed to indicate that this Peter had lost everyone he loved. And...he looked...just tired; physically and emotionally.
"...What happened to you?" asked MJ, looking genuinely concerned.
"I...it...*sigh* it's a long, complicated story..." He then glanced at Anya. "If I may ask; who's the father?"
"You," she answered. "Well, you from this Earth."
Peter gasped loudly and collapsed to his knees in shock.
"What?" MJ asked, worriedly. "What's the problem?"
Before he could answer, the front door opened and in walked Ned and May.
"MJ, what's going...Peter?!" Ned exclaimed.
May could tell just from looking at him; this wasn't her Peter, but that didn't matter to her. She knew he needed comfort. That's when she walked up and hugged him, tightly.
The second she hugged him, he burst into tears, sobbing quietly. MJ and Ned joined in the hug as well, making it a big group hug.
Anya didn't really know what was going on, but she could tell everyone was sad about something.
Earth 928
The year is 2099, a somewhat dystopian future...
Sometime in the 21st century, the world became embroiled in a massive civil war between humans and mutants. Following years of fighting, the humans won the war, but suffered tremendous losses. Even fewer mutants survived, most owing their lives to the efforts of Master Zhao's X-Men and Mama Hurricane's MUSE (Mutant Underground Support Engine). During this time, much of California sunk into the Pacific Ocean due to a series of earthquakes and terrorist attacks. Most of the United States became uninhabitable and/or dangerous. During the anarchy, the richest amassed ever more power, widening the class divide between rich and poor. Black carders, the ultra-rich, lived above the law; mega-corporations such as Stark-Fujikawa and Alchemax led the ruling class, with the Public Eye as their personal police force.
Globally, the world consisted of five major states or political alliances which were the United States of America, the Free Russian Alliance, the Federated States of America, the European Continental Consolidate, and the People's Republic of China. Major cities included Hong Kong (China), Brussels (European Continental Consolidated), Mexico City (Federated States of America), Moscow (Free Russian Alliance), and Nueva York (United States). In addition to Alchemax and Stark-Fujikawa, some of the other mega-corporations included Pixel (from Spain), Synthia (from New York City), D/Monix (from Transverse City), Green Globe (from New York City), and Icy Eye (London). The People's Republic of China had only one city that was open to the rest of the world, Hong Kong. China was ruled by the Mercantile Houses which competed with each other for power. Feng Huang, the Red Phoenix of the South was challenging the ruling cadres with her economic maneuvers. In China, families that were wealthy could be genetically enhanced, using their wealth to design children and establishing long-lived dynasties.
By the year 2099, however, a new Heroic Age began.
Miguel O'Hara, an engineer of Irish and Mexican descent, worked for Alchemax. He was less than pleased at the corporation's vast control over the city of Nueva York. A genius in the field of genetics, he was being pressured by Tyler Stone to test a process to imprint genetic codes into human physiology. He reluctantly tried the process on a test subject named Mr. Sims. It was a failure - Sims was transformed into a hideous creature and quickly died.
This was the last straw for Miguel: he went to Stone and attempted to hand in his notice. Stone gave in and shared a drink with his now former employee which, unknown to Miguel had been laced with the highly addictive hallucinogenic drug that bonds to the victim's DNA, called Rapture. As Alchemax was sole manufacturer of the drug, Stone expected that Miguel would be forced to remain with the company. In an attempt to rid himself of the hallucinogen, Miguel decided to try the genetic procedure, which had killed Sims, on himself, as he had input his own original genetic code as a baseline. The process was sabotaged by his supervisor, Aaron Delgato, in the attempt to kill him (the incident would be covered up as an accident). Miguel survived the process; his DNA was spliced with the genes of a spider and gained several powers, though he lost his addiction to Rapture.
Now possessing superhuman strength, speed, agility, reflexes, stamina, durability, razor-sharp talons on his fingers and toes for wall-crawling, organic webbing in his forearms, and more; Miguel made a costume for himself out of an unstable molecule Day of the Dead costume and material from a damaged Thorite hang glider, and became the Spider-Man of 2099 to protect Nueva York and battling Alchemax.
Miguel's suit was mostly a deep dark blue color that could be mistaken for black, with a large red spider that partially looked like a skull on the chest and stomach area, with another smaller version of it on the top of the back that glowed. The emblem spread into red lines that went down each arm that became arrows on the top of each hand. The red lines also had two spikes on the forearms that could be used as blades. Unlike most Spider-Man suits, it didn't have any visible eyes, but rather red highlights to indicate where the eyes are. The suit also had this energy flow going through it, which made it look very futuristic. (5)
Tonight, there was interesting chatter on the Public Eye scanner...
"All Public Eye units in the vicinity, report to 121st and Lex. One of those fragments Alchemax is looking for has been found!"
Two hoverbikes flew through the air as fast as they could.
"Units 94 and 98 en route," said one of the police cyclists.
"All units be advised, Alchemax warns that the fragment may attract freakers or other-"
Suddenly, something leapt down from one of the buildings and attacked one of the cyclists! It was a large human-shaped scorpion! It's right hand was a large pincer, while it's left was relatively normal, except for some claws. It had pincers on its cheeks to go with its sharp teeth, glowing yellow eyes and a large tail. It was also pretty muscular with some armored plating.
"Shock! What is that thing?!" One of the cyclists exclaimed before he was thrown off!
Scorpion jumped to the next bike, and the officer said, "Don't move! Hands where I can see 'em!"
"Hands?!" Scorpion hissed before knocking him off his bike!
That's when Miguel appeared on the scene, witnessing the carnage.
"That can't be good," he said before he swung into action. "Kron Stone! I didn't even like the guy when he was human."
Kron knocked away more officers with his tail and grabbed the fragment, "MINE!"
Miguel landed, "No, you didn't say the magic word. It's "May I please have the-"-"
Kron knocked Miguel away with his tail, "DIE!"
Luckily, Miguel managed to recover while Kron turned and fled.
"Don't shake your tail at me when I'm talking to you!" Miguel shouted before he gave chase after him.
A large officer of Public Eye dropped in from above, blocking the double-doors. He wore dark armor plates with blue neon, and carried a large sword. Miguel charged at him, attacking with his talons and the blades on his arms! The officer tried to hit Miguel with his sword, but the futuristic Spider-Man was able to dodge his strikes by jumping back at a distance, then jumping in to deliver more melee moves! He did two spinning kicks, then a spinning slash/uppercut!
Then, as the officer came down, Miguel caught him before he slammed him into the ground, and for good measure, he punched him in the face, knocking him out cold.
"Take a load off," he said.
The doors opened to reveal a hallway, and Kron could be seen inside.
"She promised...she promised!" he hissed before going further. Two Public Eye officers came in from another room.
"I thought I heard something. Cover me!"
But they stopped next to some large green-yellow colored...eggs? "What the fuck are these?"
"Stay back! You don't know what-" Miguel tried to warn them, but eggs exploded, releasing acid that melted the officers!
"AAAAAAAAARRRRGH!" they screamed as they writhed in pain, but ultimately melted into nothing.
Miguel cringed with disgust at the sight before looking at the other eggs...from a distance, of course.
"Scorpion eggs? My God; I didn't realize the accident that mutated Kron changed him enough to lay eggs."
He ran into the next room, where Kron had an officer pinned beneath him!
"Let him go! Now!" Miguel told him.
Kron threw him off the platform, then leapt over the large gap to the far side,
"Will hurt others if followed!"
Soon, he soon ran through an automatic door, which soon shut behind him.
Miguel looked around the large room, seeing some miniature mutant scorpions burst out of some more eggs! And even worse, they going after some scientists!
He swung over to them, got them to open the doors to go after Kron, then told them to get to safety. He went down a hallway that had more eggs in it, and was covered in acidic poison, till he got to another large room that was covered in...honestly, he wasn't sure...
"Kron!" Miguel shouted. "I want that fragment!"
"NOOOOO!" Kron roared as he jumped down from a ceiling light. "MMMMIIIINE!"
"You don't understand!" Miguel reasoned. "The power in that thing is dangerous!"
"See me?! See this?!" Kron gestured to himself. "I'M dangerous! A MONSTER! But no more - she promised."
"'She' who? Who promised?"
Kron swung his tail at Miguel, but he jumped to avoid it!
"Kron, listen to me!"
"No, YOU listen!" Kron snarled. "Smart lady said get rock. Bring her rock! Promised...make me human, again! HUMAN!"
"Who?! What lady?!" Miguel asked, but Kron was too enraged to answer him any further. Instead, he roared in Miguel's face before he began to go on the attack, swinging his tail at him, only for the futuristic Spider-Man to leap over his tail and kick him in the face!
Kron jumped up to the ceiling and clung to him, then shot poison at Miguel! He managed to avoid getting hit, but the poison spawned more eggs on the ground! Miguel used his webs to throw one of the eggs at Kron, making him fall to the ground!
He grabbed Kron's mouth pincers and punched him the face twice, then kneed him in the jaw,
"You know, spitting acid is not something you should do in polite company."
They rushed each other, then Miguel backflipped onto his head, only for Kron to wrap his tail around his ankles! Then, he hung Miguel upside-down and turned him so that he was looking him right in his eyes. The scorpion-man beast hybrid growled ferociously as he glared at the Spider-Man with greenish-yellow drool dripping from his jaws.
"...You seem upset," Miguel said, only for Kron to roar in his face, sending spit flying onto his mask.
Kron threw the futuristic Spider-Man into a wall, which sent him down a ventilation shaft until he crash-landed in another room!
Miguel groaned a bit, "I'm gonna make him pay for that. Just...as soon as I can move..."
As soon as he managed to regain his senses, he soon found himself surrounded by Public Eye officers, all of them wielding shock clubs.
"Look who we got here!"
"Aww shock..." Miguel grumbled as he got up.
One of the officers swung at him, but he disarmed the guy and shocked him with his own club! For the second officer, he kicked him into the air, jumped up to hit him twice in the air, kicked him to the ground, then performed a spinning slash attack with his talons!
As soon as they were taken care of, Miguel saw that same acidic yellow substance on the door, which began to melt.
"Uh-oh," he muttered. "I think I'm about to have company."
That's when several of Kron's "offspring" came charging, snarling and hissing as they lunged at him, but Miguel made short work of them, chopping one in the neck while kicking the other away. However, he soon realized that there were more of them...and they had the laboratory staff surrounded!
He quickly made his way around the area, grabbed the staff one by one and took them to the main exit door. Kron then appeared on a platform, roared, then ran off!
"Hey! Big, green and oviparous! I'm not done with you!" Miguel called after him! Kron jumped across the towers in the tunnel while the futuristic Spider-Man swung after him.
"Listen, you think you're a freak. Okay, you are a bit on the freakish side, but...I'm a freak, too. I mean look at me; I'm lucky I don't shoot webs outta my ass."
That only made Kron angrier, for he made a ferocious roar!
They got to the end of the tunnel...
"You said a woman sent you after the fragment. I want a name," Miguel demanded, only for some double cylindrical doors to close around Kron, and the room was full of more eggs.
"Aww shock..."
Knowing that time was of the essence, Miguel began to move about faster than anyone could even blink, taking out the smaller scorpions in almost 10 seconds, flat! Eventually, the doors opened, revealing an elevator. Miguel got on top of it, then it went up.
"They're all over the place!" Some radio chatter from Public Eye screamed out! Miguel looked up and saw some Public Eye transports hover around the top of the building.
"Clear the landing zone!"
"We can't stop them!"
"Keep firing! Keep firing!"
"Look out!"
"Watch your right!"
"Behind you!"
"Game changer, man! Game changer!"
As soon as Miguel arrived at the top, he saw that the whole place was infested with Little Scorpions, all of them attacking the Public Eye enforcers, which tried to shoot them with guns, but they were outnumbered! Kron was clinging to one of the spires, watching the fight, but as soon as he saw Miguel, he went into a rage!
"Enough!" He screamed as he slammed into the glass floor, making it crack, then jumped to every Public Eye transport, destroying them! "ENOUGH! ENOUGH!"
Miguel saw the cracks getting bigger, and he knew it was about to break!
"Shock-shock-SHOCK-SHOCK-SHOCK-SHOCK-SHOCK-SHOCK!"
SMASH! The glass shattered, and Miguel and Kron fell straight through!
A large explosion followed as the futuristic Spider-Man started freefalling! He avoided some falling debris, and a wrecked transport! He then activated his webbed cape from his back to glide into a soft landing! Miguel breathed a sigh of relief, put his cape away and looked around. It looked similar to the first room he fought Kron in, but also had a large circular area in the floor. The place was also covered in that strange residue.
"This is your hideout, isn't it? This is where you were running to... You just wanted to get home."
That's when he heard a loud crash, and as he looked up, he saw Kron, his body beginning to glow an eerie light as he pulled himself out of the wreckage of a hover bus.
"Home...yes!" Kron snarled as he held the fragment protectively to his chest. "Hide, then bring rock to lady! Be human again!"
"Who is she, Kron?" asked Miguel as he approached him, cautiously, of course. "Who put you up to this?"
"Pretty...pretty suit she wears - green and yellow - And arms so shiny and many..."
"Shiny arms? What...metal?"
"No more talk. You try to stop me. You die!"
Realizing that there was no other choice, Miguel engaged Kron in combat, charging in with his talons brandished. As Kron charged, Miguel noticed that the transport was about to fall...
So he lured Kron over to that area, stunned him with a few attacks, then pulled the transport down with his webs, causing it to fall on top of the scorpion-mutate, pinning him and knocking him out!
Miguel sighed, "I'm sorry, brother. If there were any other way to help you change back, I would. But this is bigger than either of us." (6)
He then picked up the fragment in Kron's left hand.
Even though he had won the fragment...he still couldn't help but feel bad for Kron.
1. I'm not taking the plot of the Madame Web movie into account for this.
2. Yeah, this plot is mostly like the video game "Shattered Dimensions".
3. 2099 Hobgoblin from "Shattered Dimensions".
4. MCU Peter Parker was brought to this world
5. I loved the energy flow look that Miguel's suit had in "Shattered Dimensions".
6. Kron Stone is Miguel's half-brother
So, what do you all think so far? Hope you all like it!
Read and review, please!
