Val tightened her grip on Goku's hand as tight as she could manage. She felt like she could not breathe in the blackness of the void they were in. Finally she felt firm, springy grass under her feet. She breathed a sigh of relief, looking around at the tiny planet. The air felt heavy. Her knees felt heavy. She felt Goku let her hand go shortly after Piccolo let her shoulder go. Goku waltzed around the planet, asking, "uh, where's King Kai...?" Val watched him, following as she saw a large monkey come bounding over to him playfully. "Hiya, Bubbles," he greeted the creature. "Long time no see!" Val watched the monkey lead him over to a lawn chair where a squarish, short, light blue man was napping. "King Kai, could you wake up? It's me, Goku," he said to the sleepy man.

The blue man, King Kai woke up with a start. "Huh? Goku? You're a Super Saiyan! Why'd you come here? To take a break?" He peered around Goku over at Val and Piccolo. "Why is Piccolo with you? And, uh, whose the pretty lady?" he added with a blush.

"Oh, that's Val," Goku vaguely explained. "Didn't you know that Earth is in terrible danger now?"

"Huh? Kami never told me anything. It's a planet's guardian's duty to tell me if a planet is in jeopardy," King Kai countered. "Dumbass, I have a lot to worry about! I can't watch Earth all the time!"

"Weren't you just taking a nap?" Goku countered.

"Shut up! Hurry up and tell me the problem," King Kai demanded.

"Well, you see..." Goku preempted before he was about to explain about Cell.

Val noticed his antennae were moving quickly. He exclaimed, "what!?"

Goku looked dumb founded. "I haven't said anything yet."

"Oh, I see. Hurry up and tell me!" King Kai demanded.

Goku explained about Cell, ending with, "... is what's going on. So I was hoping that you'd know where the Namek's new planet is. So one of them can take over for Val as a permanent guardian of the Earth."

King Kai looked around Goku over at her again, antennae twitching. He seemed less star struck than he was earlier. "If you're Earth's guardian, then what happened to Kami? Why haven't you contacted me? How long has the Earth been in danger?"

Val felt herself want to draw back. "We're telling you now," she answered meekly.

King Kai seethed, giving her a once over. He looked over at Piccolo, antennae moving up and down. "Oh, an assimilation happened. I didn't think it possible with how different the Demon clan and Dragon clan can be from the Planet Namek..." he mused. He turned back to Goku. "I see... An artificial human named Cell... That really is a problem. But you know, a lot of terrible stuff keeps happening around you."

Goku shrugged. "If you could just tell us the direction of the Namekian's planet, that would help a lot. The Earth could really use a Dragon Clan Namekian who can make dragon balls as a guardian."

King Kai huffed, "oh, alright, I'll help."

"I hope you can find them," Goku said. King Kai grumbled something under his breath and turned about from the three of them. His antennae twitched liked crazy. "Val really just wants to go back to her work at Capsule Corps. She only took on the guardian role because there was no other option."

"Shut up!" King Kai snapped at him. "You're messing up my mood!" Goku looked surprised to be scolded. He then covered his mouth. "Oh!" King Kai gasped. "I found them! I found them! They're that way!" He pointed off in one direction.

"Really? Thank you!" Goku said, fingers on his forehead, concentrating. "As long as I know the direction, I should be able to lock onto their ki."

"That technique is incredible! When did you have the chance to learn that?!" King Kai asked him.

"I learned it from the Yadrat! I see..." Goku answered.

"Must be handy," King Kai mused.

"I did it! I found their ki!" Goku cheered and then disappeared.

"Huh?" King Kai gasped.

Val looked up at Piccolo, asking, "did he just forget us?"

Goku blinked back sudden around them. "Sorry," he said with a laugh.

He grabbed Val's left hand with Piccolo grabbing her right shoulder in return. Val gasped feeling the darkness flash over them.
