When she wakes up, Ruby doesn't feel any better. In fact, she feels much worse. Her head is pounding, and the nausea and dizziness haven't gone away.

The dull mechanical light from the overhead fixture makes it impossible to tell how long she's been asleep. It could be morning or it could still be the middle of the night. Ruby still feels exhausted, so she thinks she probably only slept a few hours at most, but she can't know for sure.

Ruby tries listening for any sound from the hallway or her teammates, but everything sounds oddly muffled. When she closes her eyes to try to focus, it just makes the dizziness worse and her stomach lurches alarmingly.

She really doesn't feel good. And so far, trying to sleep this off doesn't seem to be working.

Maybe it's low blood sugar or something like that. Or dehydration. Maybe if she has some water and eats something she'll feel better, even though the thought of putting anything in her stomach makes her feel queasy.

But eating and drinking something requires getting up, and probably leaving the room and finding a dining hall, since she doesn't think they have any snacks or water in the room with them. Bummer. It's always good to have an emergency stash.

Wandering around the halls of Atlas Academy sounds a little daunting with how dizzy Ruby is feeling from just laying down in bed, but the alternative is just to sit here and feel miserable, so. she'll just have to suck it up and tough it out. She's not some helpless damsel in distress-far from it.

Step one is untangling herself from the sheets, which have gotten twisted around her with all her tossing and turning. It takes a lot of concentration to free her legs, since they keep not moving the way she wants them to.

Next, once she's free of the covers, is to get down from the bed. Ruby's memories from the night before are foggy and she can't remember if she'd gotten in a top or bottom bunk, or where the ladder might be if she is in a top bunk.

Normally Ruby wouldn't bother with a ladder in favor of just leaping down but she recognizes that that might not work out well in her current situation. She fumbles with one hand over the side of the bed, leaning over slightly to try to reach around further. Apparently, she leans over a bit too much, or maybe her balance is as wonky as everything else feels, because the next thing Ruby knows, she's falling through the air towards the ground.
