Halloween
Karmi strutted down the corridor with a white lab coat , google just over her head and holding a big fake injection. Hiro on the other hand was helping Baymax with his doctor costume by swinging a setescope around his neck.
"I can't believe we're following Karmi's idea about dressing up like doctors." Hiro muttered under his breathe. She heard and looked over her shoulder to him.
"Go ahead," Karmi said with the corners of her mouth twitching, " dress up like hobo pirates who have a terrible fashion sense for Halloween or instead sophisticated doctors." Sadly Hiro nodded and picked up his empty bucket that was going to be filled with sweets at the table while Karmi reached into her pocket and grapped her phone. She opened her whatsapp and looked up her dad. "No response," she whispered under her breath and her eyebrows started to knit together.
"You look upset and confused Karmi because your squinting your eyes and your hands are sweaty," Baymax responded as he waddled over to Karmi. In response she looked up and Hiro walked over holding a red lollipop.
"I'm fine," Karmi said shrugging it off.
"You should rest and take a break."Baymax carried on saying. Hiro put his hand infront of Baymax to tell him to stop.
Hiro chuckled, "She's just worried about all the surgeries and the endless medicines she has to whip up since she's the Lab Girl." He exaggerated the word "endless" while gesturing dramatically with his hands.
"I'm not—" Karmi started to protest, but before she could finish, Hiro popped a lollipop into her mouth. She blinked in surprise, her expression completely blank.
It dawned on Hiro what he had just done. "Uh... let's get going." He hurried to the door, slipped on his shoes, and motioned for Baymax to follow. Karmi trailed behind, swinging her bucket playfully. Hiro kept glancing at his phone.
"They should arrive any minute now," he said, trying to shake off the awkward moment. As he opened the small gate, a group of familiar faces appeared—Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Gogo, Fred, and Mini Max—all decked out in quirky costumes.
"Hiro! Karmi! So great to see you!" Honey Lemon exclaimed, rushing over to embrace them. Ironically, she was clad in a hippo onesie. Hiro placed his hands on her shoulders, gently pushing himself free from her hug as he took in her outfit.
"I thought you weren't a fan of hippos?" he asked, scratching his head in confusion. "Yeah, but Fred insisted we dress as our worst nightmare," Honey Lemon replied, and the group shuddered at the memory of last Halloween. Obake, also known as Bob Aken, had made them see their deepest fears.
Karmi's gaze landed on Gogo, and a smirk crept onto her face. "A leprechaun? Seriously?" Karmi teased.
"Shut up," Gogo shot back, then turned to Hiro and wrapped her arms around him. "We missed you." Hiro smiled back, appreciating the warmth of her hug. Gogo often struggled to express her feelings. Wasabi and Fred soon joined in, hugging Hiro as well. Both were dressed as spiders, with Wasabi opting for this look since he couldn't figure out how to dress as heights.
Fred, on the other hand, had gone all out, donning a full-body spider costume complete with eight wiggly legs that flopped around as he moved. "I'm the ultimate arachnid!" he declared, striking a pose that made the others laugh.
Karmi rolled her eyes, still swinging her bucket. "You look ridiculous, Fred. I mean, who's afraid of spiders? They're just misunderstood!"
"Hey, I'm not afraid of them! I just thought it would be funny!" Fred retorted, puffing out his chest in mock indignation.
"Funny? More like terrifying," Gogo quipped, her smirk returning. "You look like a walking Halloween decoration."
"Speaking of decorations," Wasabi interjected, adjusting his own spider costume, which was a bit more understated but still effective, "where's your costume, Karmi? You can't just show up with a bucket and call it a day."
Karmi shrugged, her smirk widening. "I'm Lab Girl. It's a classic look. Plus, I have all my 'potions' right here." She jiggled the bucket, which was filled with an assortment of colorful candies and treats.
"Nice save," Hiro said, chuckling. "But I think you're just using that as an excuse to carry around candy."
"Maybe," Karmi admitted, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "But who wouldn't want to be me with a stash of sweets?"
"Alright, alright, let's get this party started!" Honey Lemon clapped her hands together, her enthusiasm infectious. "We have games to play, and I brought some awesome snacks!"
"Snacks? Now you're speaking my language!" Fred exclaimed, his eyes lighting up. "Lead the way, Honey!"
As they made their way down the street, Hiro felt a sense of warmth wash over him. The laughter and banter of his friends filled the air, and for a moment, he forgot about the weight of Karmi's worries .
"Hey, Karmi," he said, glancing back at her. "You know we're all here for you, right? No matter what happens."
Karmi looked up, her expression softening. "Yeah, I know. Thanks, Hiro but you need it more."
"Good. Now, let's go show the world how a bunch of nerds can throw the best Halloween party ever!"Hiro exclaimed .
Gogo looked over to Hiro and waited for the others to walk ahead. "So when are you going to become Captain Cutie." she asked.
"I don't think I will." Hiro responded as he ducked his head and his voice cracked. "Aunt Cass doesn't want me to."
Gogo's eye twitched as she playfully tousled his hair, trying to lighten the mood. "It's your choice, and what happened with that fanfiction was really harsh." Hiro nodded in agreement, the memory of the backlash still fresh in his mind. It had been a tough lesson in vulnerability, one that made him hesitant to share more of himself.
Gogo then turned her attention to Karmi, who was standing a little ways off, her expression contemplative. "Karmi deleted all her fanfictions," she added, her tone a mix of concern and curiosity. Hiro's eyes widened in surprise, the news hitting him harder than he expected.
"I need to talk to her. She's just worried she might have accidentally exposed my secret," Hiro said, determination setting in as he made his way over to Karmi. He could see the tension in her shoulders, the way she avoided eye contact. As he approached, she met his gaze, and he offered her a reassuring smile, hoping to ease her worries.
"They're going to be a couple soon," Honey Lemon joked to Baymax, her voice light and teasing, trying to shift the atmosphere back to something more playful.
"But what about Megan?" Baymax asked, looking puzzled, his robotic head tilting slightly as he processed the information.
"Hiro and Karmi," she whispered to Baymax, her eyes sparkling with mischief. Just then, Fred interrupted their conversation.
"Alright, team! It's time to start at this house!" he declared, his voice booming with excitement as he marched up to the front door.
Knock...knock...
The door creaked open, revealing a dark, hollow void. They exchanged glances, their expressions shifting to concern as a long, slimy tentacle slithered into view from the shadows. In the mist you could see a robot head with hair that was slicked back and cracks all over. The face seemed familiar...to familiar.
"Obake..." Hiro said quietly as he pushed himself back to Baymax. The robot had slimly tentacles and a broken robot head that looked like a past 's tentacles reached out to the group and pulled them in.
