Episode 22: The Final Source
-Core of Light, The Ruined Citadel, Skylands-
It was another… dark morning as the skies of Skylands were still covered by black-red clouds that completely blocked the light, all caused by the Darkness.
Tyson was leaning on a ledge as he watched the ocean part of the Island. He then heard the flap of wings and saw that it was Spyro as he leaned on the ledge next to him.
Spyro: Hey, Tyson! Is something on your mind?
Tyson: Well… We both know there is just one Eternal Source left to restore the Core of Light. Once that happens, our medallions can be fixed, and then… we go home.
Spyro could notice the uncertainty in Tyson's voice. He could tell that the boy wasn't sure if he should go back home and leave Skylands.
Spyro: You know, I was a little upset that I dragged you and the others into our battles. But… I am also glad that you guys are here.
Tyson smiled as he knew what Spyro meant.
Tyson: Thanks, Spyro. It was awesome to meet such a cool Skylander as you.
Spyro puffed his chest when he heard that.
Spyro: Well, who doesn't?
Tyson nearly laughed at this, until Belle, who stood with Cynder, called out to them.
Belle: Hey guys! Hugo is calling us!
Tyson and Spyro looked at each other as they knew what this meant.
Tyson: Well, this is it.
Spyro: Yeah.
With that, Tyson hopped on Spyro and the Purple Dragon took into the air, followed by Belle and Cynder.
-Beach, The Ruined Citadel, Skylands-
The two landed at the rock where the Weapon Master stood, along with Hugo who looked at the Arkeyan with awe.
Hugo: The Quicksilver is flowing through the Core! I can't believe it! Who knew that there are still remnants of the Arkeyans?
Weapon Master: We did.
Spyro and Cynder looked at Hugo weirdly.
Cynder: What about Drill Sergeant and Chop Chop? Aren't they Arkeyans too?
-Core of Light, The Ruined Citadel, Skylands-
Drill Sergeant: ACHOO!
Chop Chop: ACHOO!
This made Terrafin jump as he looked at Drill Sergeant and Chop Chop in Surprise.
Terrafin: I didn't know you two could sneeze?
Chop Chop: Neither did I…
-Beach, The Ruined Citadel, Skylands-
Hugo felt sheepish when the Weapon Master and Cynder pointed that out.
Hugo: Oh, um, well of course you did… Please! We must find the Eternal Magic Source! It's the final Source we need to rebuild the Core of Light! Can you help us?
Weapon Master: Yes we can.
The bespectacled Mabu became giddy.
Hugo: I can't believe I am speaking to a real Arkeyan! I thought you had all disappeared.
Both Spyro and Cynder gave him a "really?" look.
Weapon Master: In some ways, yes, but in others, we have always been here… but for now, you will find the Eternal Source of Magic locked away in our ancient armory, where you will also witness the full expanse of our civilization… of our power. Would you like to go to our armory now, Skylanders?
Spyro turned to Cynder.
Spyro: Normally, I would bring in the Skylanders of the Magic Element with me… Do you wanna join?
Cynder smiled at him.
Cynder: Of course.
With that said, Spyro turned to the Weapon Master.
Spyro: We're ready to go!
Weapon Master: Excellent. Then the Arkeyan Armory awaits you.
Tyson and Belle hopped on Spyro and Cynder and they both took off across the Chain of Time as Hugo waved at them.
Hugo: Good luck you guys!
-Unyielding Garrison, Arkeyan Armory, Skylands-
Spyro and Cynder, along with the kids, entered a cave as they flew above the giant chain, before landing on a platform where Tyson and Belle hop off.
Tyson: This is the Arkeyan Armory? It's too dark to see here.
The hologram of the Weapon Master appeared.
Weapon Master: These caverns hold much of what is left of our once proud civilization. Restore power and you will find the Eternal Magic Source within. But be warned, Skylanders. Restoring power will also awaken the ancient Arkeyan defenses that have lain dormant for thousands of years.
Cynder looked towards the others.
Cynder: Well, we've come so far then.
Spyro: Yeah. Kids call the Magic Skylanders.
Tyson and Belle nodded as they raised their medallions.
Tyson: Come! Double Trouble!
Belle: Wrecking Ball! Voodood!
Appearing where the Magic Skylanders as they looked around.
Voodood: This is the Arkeyan Armory?
Spyro: We have to find the lights first.
Belle looked around and saw a lever up ahead.
Belle: There's a lever there!
The Skylanders approached the lever. Belle took it and looked at the others, who nodded at her so she pulled the lever down.
Weapon Master: At last - it is time. After untold ages of darkness - LIGHT!
This caused the lights to turn on and illuminate the entire cavern.
Tyson: Whoa…
Tyson and Belle were in awe of this place.
Cynder: Guys… Look down there.
Curious, everyone looked down from the platforms and they couldn't believe it with their own eyes.
Standing in a row were giant gold brown Robot machines! Hundreds of them!
Spyro: No way… Those are Machines of Doom!
Tyson looked at Spyro curiously, which he noticed.
Spyro: It's a long story. One that will have to wait. We must head now for the Eternal Magic Source. Be on guard, everyone!
The Skylanders nodded as Voodood pulled down a lever, which made a circle roll over the path they just came, which opened another path.
As the Skylanders and the kids stepped in, the hologram of the Weapon Master appeared again.
Weapon Master: There are many automated defenses ahead. We cannot deactivate them.
Tyson: What kind of defenses will there be?
Cynder: Probably those Arkeyan drones you guys told me about.
Up ahead of them, there seemed to be a Control Tower. A stationary machine with a glowing green-tipped antenna.
Tyson: What is that?
Belle: A Control Tower it seems. What it is controlling is the question.
Suddenly, the tower started to send signals and a hatchet near them opened.
Spyro: Looks like we're about to find out!
Hovering in the air are Defense Drones. Helicopter Drones with Wasp-like tails
They began firing purple shots at them.
Spyro: Scatter!
The Skylanders moved out of the way of the shots.
Double Trouble: Ooga Booga!
Double Trouble fired his Extended Eldritch Beam and destroyed a couple of them.
Voodood grabbed one Drone with his Zipline Axe and pulled it up before bringing it down and smashed it to the ground.
One Drone survived, until it got caught by Wrecking Ball's Tongue Grabber and swallowed it… before spitting it out in disgust.
Wrecking Ball: Yuck!
Belle: Guys! It's not over! Look!
Everyone saw the hatchet opened up again and deployed more Drones.
Spyro: We have to destroy the Control Tower!
Spyro fired a Exploding Fireblast at the Drones, that's when Cynder jumped in.
Cynder: Leave them to me!
Cynder turned into her Shadow form and performed a Shadow Strike, an attack from her Shadow Dash as she pierced through the machine and it exploded.
The Defense Drones shut down and fell on the floor. Everyone relaxed as they regrouped.
Spyro: Nicely done, Cynder.
Cynder: Thanks.
Belle: Cynder, your Shadow Dash is so powerful now!
Spyro smiled as he closed his eyes.
Spyro: That's because we are finally back to our full power. It took some time with Persephone's help, and with some training thanks to Cali, all the Skylanders are back to their former selves.
He remembers the moments when Persephone used her Fairy Magic on him to restore his Magical powers, and took part in Cali's training regime.
As he remembered that, 3 Arkeyan Blasters rose from the floor and aimed at Spyro.
Tyson: Spyro, look out!
The Blasters fired at the Purple Dragon, but then a shield of fire formed around Spyro and blocked the shots, before firing Triple Flameballs at the Arkeyan Blasters and destroying them.
Tyson and Belle at how Spyro easily handled it as he turned to them.
Spyro: We're ready to take on whatever defenses this place has. Let's go, Skylanders!
With that, the kids and the Skylanders moved forward.
-Halls of Molten Fire, Arkeyan Armory, Skylands-
As the Skylanders walked further ahead, the Weapon Master's hologram appeared again.
Weapon Master: The defenses are alerted to your presence. Soon the War Machines will awaken.
This warning put everyone on alarm.
Spyro: This is bad. One War Machine we can handle, but not an entire army!
Cynder turned to the Weapon Master.
Cynder: Is there a way to avoid them?
Weapon Master: You must activate this one and fight your way to the inner chamber before it is sealed shut and the War Machines rise.
Up ahead, they saw a platform that's connected to a War Machines' head, where the controls are.
Voodood: Voodoo will command this beast!
Everyone hopped on the machine. Voodood then activated the War Machine. It started swinging around as the head came out of the torso and so did hands that came out of the arms. It then began walking over the lava and entered a large cave entrance.
Voodood: Voodood now understands why Boomer loved this beast!
Spyro: Be on guard! There could still be more defenses up ahead!
And the Purple Dragon was right as a shot passed them. Up ahead were more Defense Drones spawned from more Control Towers, as well as a few Arkeyan Ultrons.
Spyro: Cynder and I will go ahead and take the Drones!
Spyro and Cynder flew to attack the Drones as they were taken down by Cynder's Black Spectral Lightning, while Spyro shot the Control Towers with an Exploding Fireblast and destroyed them.
The Arkeyan Ultrons fired their missiles at the War Machine, but Voodood blocked them with the machine's arms before making a fist and punching the platform off its hold, sending it and the Ultrons falling into the lava. The War Machine then fired laser blasts from its eyes and hit the Drones in the air.
Voodood: Voodood is loving this!
They then entered a large cavern with streams of lava pouring out of the walls and the rocky island in the middle. There were some platforms around with more Arkeyan defenses.
They circled around the room as Spyro and Cynder shot more Drones and Control Towers while Voodood fired the eye blasts at the Arkeyan Ultrons.
Tyson: Alright! We must be getting closer now!
But just when the War Machine arrived at the otherside where a gate is, there stood another War Machine, and it was very active!
Belle: That doesn't look good!
Voodood: Wrong! This looks very good!
Double Trouble face palmed at this.
The automated War Machine attacked and punched the Skylanders own War Machine, sending it tumbling back and nearly falling.
Spyro and Cynder attacked with their Explosive Fireblast and Black Lightning. This pushed back the War Machine a little, who retaliated back by firing its eye blasts at them.
It was then hit by the Skylanders War Machine's own eye blasts as it fired more while advancing towards it. They then punched in the War Machine's face.
Voodood: Hahahaa!
Voodood was having the time of his life as he punched the War Machine's face a couple of times, nearly breaking the metal face as smokes and sparks came out as the lumbering metal behemoth wobbled and was nearly about to fall.
Spyro: Now!
Both Spyro and Cynder fired their signature breath attacks on the War Machine's face, destroying it and causing the machine to fall back into the lava.
Tyson and Belle: Alright!
The Skylanders celebrated as Wrecking Ball did a backflip.
Cynder: No time to celebrate yet! We have to keep moving!
Spyro: The inner chamber is right up ahead!
With that, Voodood moved the machine and passed a set of huge twin iron doors, which closed behind right when the Skylanders got in.
Spyro: Man! That was close!
Now that the danger was over, Spyro and Cynder landed on the War Machine's shoulders. Tyson then turned to Spyro.
Tyson: Hey, Spyro. You called those machines the Machine of Doom. What's that exactly?
Spyro: The Machine of Doom is an ancient weapon that's capable of destroying the Core of Light, but it was actually a trap for evildoers. Kaos knew this and used this trap against us. (Sighs)... Which happened because I underestimated the guy.
Knowing that Spyro was getting frustrated and ashamed of that incident, Cynder put a wing on Spyro's shoulder.
Cynder: Hey, if I was in your paws, I would have done the same thing as you did, Spyro.
Spyro smiled gratefully at Cynder.
Cynder: After all, Kaos is a…
Voodood: Everybody. We here.
Up ahead, everyone could see the exit of the tunnel that leads to the chamber.
Belle: We've arrived.
-The Crucible, Arkeyan Armory, Skylands-
Everyone unboarded the War Machine and stepped on another platform. Cynder then noticed another lever up ahead. She looked at the others who nodded at her. She grabbed the lever and pulled it down, causing the whole cavern to light up. The Weapon Master's hologram appeared again.
Weapon Master: Behold - the Eternal Magic Source.
The whole place was huge as up ahead was a stasis area on the ground in the middle of the cavern. And in it was the Eternal Magic Source.
Weapon Master: You will find the Eternal Magic Source in the main vault, at the center of our temple.
The Skylanders arrived close to where the stasis area is as they were in a place with a Control Panel.
Weapon Master: In order to unlock the main vault, three switches must be activated in smaller vaults. These vaults will require a security key card.
The Skylanders stood in front of a circle gate which rolled over to open and entered the stasis area.
Weapon Master: You will find this security key card somewhere in the lower level of our temple. Find it and bring it back to the main security panel.
Spyro turned to Tyson and Belle.
Spyro: You kids better stay here. We obviously will be attacked everywhere, so for now you two will have to wait for us.
Tyson didn't like it, but understood anyway.
Tyson: Alright, Belle and I will wait here.
He and Belle went back as the door rolled in closed behind them, the very same door that blocked the Skylanders from proceeding down. Now that the path is open, they walked down a double curved platform.
It didn't take long as when they reached the main floor, Arkeyan Blasters rose from the ground and fired at them.
Spyro: Let's go, guys!
The Skylanders kept moving as they dodged the shots. Spyro stayed back and fired his Exploding Fireblast together with Double Trouble's Extended Eldritch Beam.
Cynder, along with Voodood and Wrecking Ball, stopped as they now faced two Control Towers that immediately ejected the Drones. They began shooting at them but Voodood hauled one with his Zipline Axe and threw the Drone at the others. But more came out, until they were all hit by Cynder's Spectral Lightning.
Wrecking Ball then unleashed his Swat of Terror, surrounding himself in a large Forcefield Ball and spun at the Control Tower, hitting it and causing a Forcefield Blast that sent the Drones flying from the force of the explosion.
Voodood: Taste my axe!
Voodood then charged in with his electrified Electro Axe and smashed at the remaining Control Tower in a burst of purple electricity.
All the Drones fell as Cynder ran in and started looking around.
Cynder: Where is that security key card?
It didn't take long for Cynder too long to look around as she found it on a pedestal. The key card actually looked like a metallic torch with a round gem on top… which is protected by more Arkeyan Blasters as they rose from the ground. Cynder wasted no time and fired her Black Lightning and quickly destroyed them. She came out of the smoke with the security key card in her paw just as Spyro and Double Trouble came.
Cynder: I've got the security key card.
Spyro: Yeah… We have another problem, Cynder.
Spyro pointed back where they came from, and it was swarmed with Arkeyan Defenders and Arkeyan Ultrons.
Cynder: Great…
Tyson: Guys! Up here!
Everyone looked up at where they left Tyson and Belle as they waved at them.
The Arkeyan Defenders charged in to attack, but Voodood slammed his axe on the floor and summoned a long Roadblock Tripwire Bomb, a Magical Tripwire of bluish Magic. The Arkeyan Defenders touched the tripwire and it exploded, sending them flying which was enough to break their shield.
Spyro: Bring the key card to them!
Cynder flew up which was noticed by the Arkeyan Ultrons. They aimed their arms to fire at her, but they were all hit by the attacks of Spyro and Double Trouble, who summoned 3 mini clones.
Spyro: Let's buy them some time as much as possible!
The Skylanders charged and the Arkeyans did the same.
Back up at the Security Station, Cynder handed the security key to Belle's hand.
Cynder: Bring it to the security control panel.
BOOM!
An explosion was heard back at the lower level as the fight started.
Cynder: I better go back and help.
Cynder flew back down.
Belle: Let's go, Tyson!
Tyson nodded as they quickly ran to the security control panel and inserted the key. The machine activated and the sound of something unlocking was heard, 3 times.
Weapon Master: You have succeeded. Now deactivate the three switches within the smaller vault.
Tyson and Belle looked around and saw 2 vault doors with 2 lava spheres embedded in it.
Tyson: Those must be the vaults.
Both Tyson and Belle pushed the first vault's doors and they slid open… revealing the 2 Arkeyan Defenders standing ready.
Tyson: Guys!
Just before the two Defenders can attack, they were all hit by Black Lightning and got taken down. Tyson and Belle looked up and saw that Cynder came back as she landed.
Belle: Cynder!
Cynder: I had a hunch that there were still more defenses here. Looks like I was right.
The two kids looked back at the vault and saw a pole with a red button on it. Belle pressed the button and the pole lowered to the ground.
Belle: That's one down and two to go.
The three turned to a corner to their right and saw Arkeyan Blasters rising from the floor and aiming at them. Cynder quickly turned into her Shadow Mode and attacked.
Back below, the Skylanders were holding back the Arkeyan Defenses.
Double Trouble: Boom Shack-A-Lacka!
The Tiki Man unleashed his Magic Armageddon. Releasing a wave of Magic explosions that sent the machines flying.
Wrecking Ball was whacking some of the Arkeyans with his Lightning Tongue, which is super long.
An Arkeyan Ultron was hit by Voodood's Zipline Axe and he hauled himself to it, before releasing purple electricity that downed the hulking machine. A few Defenders came to attack him, but they were all repelled by his Electric Feedback. A Magical energy that radiates from him. More Arkeyan Defenders came but Voodood swung his Axe and did an Axe Spin, hitting all the machines that tried to pile him again.
Spyro charged through the other Arkeyans with a Comet Dash, his horns imbued in a Magical flaming aura. He then flew up and unleashed an Exploding Fireblast at them.
Back at the upper level, 2 Arkeyan Drones were thrown off the platform by Cynder. She looked behind and saw Tyson and Belle activating another switch and the polen lowered down. Tyson then realised something.
Tyson: Wait… there weren't any more vault doors when we came here.
Belle realised that was true.
Belle: You're right. And the Weapon Master said there were 3 vaults so… where is the third?
Cynder thought about it before looking back at the lower levels.
Cynder: I wonder…
Back below, Spyro kept firing his fire attacks in the air until Cynder flew in.
Cynder: Spyro, did you see a door vault here?
Spyro looked around until he caught sight of the third vault door.
Spyro: There!
Both Spyro and Cynder flew towards the door and opened it. Like the other doors, there were 2 Arkeyan Defenders. Spyro and Cynder stood ready to take them on.
Wrecking Ball: Breaking Through!
Spyro and Cynder turned around and saw Wrecking Ball rolling towards them in his Forcefield Ball.
Both Dragons stepped aside and Wrecking Ball crashed into the two Arkeyans.
Wrecking Ball: BUUUUUURP!
And released a loud and gaseous burp that covered the door and invaded the Dragon's nose.
Cynder: WRECKING BALL! REALLY?!
Wrecking Ball: Sorry. Please don't zap my tongue again.
Spyro: Oh man…
Spyro took a deep breath and entered the green gas covering the door.
Weapon Master: All switches are now unlocked. You may now retrieve the Eternal Magic Source. The final component of the Core of Light.
As the Weapon Master said this, all the Arkeyans deactivated. Spyro came out of the now dissipating gas, a little nauseous.
Spyro: Let's go.
The Skylanders regrouped and the door was opened by Tyson and Belle as they entered the chamber where the Magic Source is. Tyson and Belle then covered their noses as they smelled something.
Tyson: What is that smell?
The Skylanders stepped away from an unamused Spyro as Cynder waved her wing to blow the smell away.
Spyro didn't say a word as the energy chamber vanished and the Eternal Magic Source rose. Everyone was awed to see the final Source had a purple star in it. Spyro stepped in and grabbed the Eternal Source with both hands.
-Core of Light, The Ruined Citadel, Skylands-
Everybody was present at the Core of Light as the moment they worked hard for has finally come as Spyro came in with the Eternal Magic Source.
The Skylanders were happy along with Tyson, Belle, Diego, and Sky.
Cali was happy too while Hugo was ecstatic, while Flynn looked on proudly.
Persephone, Gurglefin, Diggs, Arbo, General Robot, T-bone, even Clam-tron 4000 and Weapon Master were here (have no idea how they got there), along with the other Mabu refugees.
Spyro stood in front of the Core of Light as Master Eon's head materialized, looking proudly at their accomplishment.
Master Eon: Portal Masters. Skylanders. You have retrieved the final Element. The very essence of Skylands; The Eternal Magic Source!
The Eternal Magic Source flew out of Spyro's hands and went to the machine.
Master Eon: The Core of Light is reborn.
The Eternal Magic Source entered the machine all the way down and merged with the big crystal there. And then… the machine stopped.
Everyone became worried, wondering if something went wrong, until the machine started working again and stronger than before. The gears are spinning, the Primordial Goo is flowing in the veins of the vines, energy came from the Crystal Eye and in that moment, blasted a beam of light in the sky.
All the Skylanders watched as the light hit the Darkness covering the sky and burned it away, revealIng the Sun's light for the first time in all of Skylands, in all of the places they have visited. Even the island contaminated by the Trolls was affected as all the pollution vanished and grass and trees grew back and the ocean is pristine clear. Every inhabitant cheered that the light is back in Skylands.
-Blackthrone Castle, Skylands-
Back at Blackthrone Castle, Kaos was passing around as he had yet to figure out the location of the Eternal Magic Source. Unaware of him, Glumshanks entered the room after he finally returned from the mines. And he's looked worse for wear as he was slightly burned. Kaos stopped as he finally noticed the Butler in the room.
Kaos: Why what's the matter, Glumshanks? You look… uh…? Different, somehow.
Hearing that Kaos forgot that he sent him to the Mines made Glumshanks snap. He was about to argue back… until the light reached them and forced the shutter windows open and the light bursted into the room, blinding both Kaos and Glumshanks.
Kaos: WHAAAAA! WHAT THE!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
Kaos understood what happened. The Core of Light has been restored and is pushing back the Darkness.
Kaos: Glumshanks!
Glumshanks: Master?
The two tried to find the other, but their blindness prevented them from noticing that they passed each other.
Kaos: Glumshanks!
Glumshanks: Master?
They passed each other again, until they turned around and bumped into each other. Kaos angrily pushed Glumshanks back.
Kaos: Glumshanks! Get us out of here! Full speed ahead! To the Outlaaands!
Glumshanks went to take control of the Castle and they started flying back to the Outlands, along with the Darkness that's being pushed back by the Core of Light.
Kaos: AAAAAH! MY DARKNESS! MY BEAUTIFUL DARKNESS! Well, I'm not beaten YET!
-The Core of Light, Ruined Citadel, Skylands-
All the Skylanders cheered since the Core of Light has been restored and the Darkness was banished. Spyro especially.
Cynder: We did it, Spyro.
Spyro: No, Cyn, we all did.
Cynder was surprised to hear that. Normally, she would be upset if someone called her Cyn. But it was a first for her to hear Spyro say that. In fact, she smiled at that.
Suddenly, something glowed from Tyson and Belle's pocket.
Tyson: Huh?
Both of them searched their pockets and saw that their Portal Medallions were glowing. Everybody stopped cheering as they watched this as the cracks on the blue gems vanished. Both Tyson and Belle were awed.
The Portal Medallions were restored.
The final battle is about to begin very soon!
