Daphne- August 3rd

The day that Harry Potter would be coming for dinner dawned sunny and warm. Daphne laid by the pool on the family's estate reading a book on healing that the school kindly mediwitch had lent to her for summer reading. This was perhaps her favorite thing about Saturdays. She had the day to simply relax and enjoy reading on topics that actually interested her, and it didn't hurt to have a place where she could get a good tan while at it. Not that there was too much time in Appleby where one could work on a tan.

Next to her best friend Tracy Davis turned to get some color on her back, "so what exactly is going on that you're at the Malfoy's almost every day?" Daphne chuckled, "There's this thing called studying. You might have heard of it?" Daphne playfully tossed a pillow off of he chaise lounge at her friend. The smaller girl laughed, "you know what I mean Daph." The taller girl smiled as she knew, but that didn't mean that she was ready to talk about it. Tracy rolled her eyes, "come on Daph spill. After all I told you about me and Adrian."

Sighing to herself she groaned, "so you know that father wanted me to keep an eye on the developments at Hogwarts after the tournament ended?" The brunette rolled her eyes at her blonde best friend, "I know that, but your evading the question." Turning onto her stomach Daphne sighed, once Tracy started in there was never any use stopping her. Finally Daphne said, "fine, but this goes no further than the two of us." Tracy smirked and quickly agreed, "alright then."

Daphne settled into explain their family's connection to perhaps the most famous wizard of their generation. She started slowly, "It was the night of the McKinnon massacre. There were many people there that died, but the McKinnon family was completely wiped out. Dad was among those attending some party. He pushed out of the way as the attack began by another guy." Daphne paused before continuing, "the man and woman who saved my dad among others who escaped that night was James Potter."

Tracy's jaw fell open, like frog trying to catch a fly, and she was speechless for once. The situation still soaking into her mind. Finally, the petite brunette let out a breath and said, "so house Greengrass owes house Potter a life debt." Daphne nodded," beyond that, and this cannot get out to anyone, my parents promised me to the Potter's for their son. There is a standing betrothal contract between me and Harry." Tracy nodded realizing that if that information got to the wrong person, it could be used against the Greengrass family.

The girls returned to their sunbathing, but Daphne's mind was running a hundred miles an hour thinking about what she could wear help Harry start look at her assets. Harry had hardly reacted so far to subtle attempts at flirting. It was time to pull out her best moves. She needed to clarify her status, as the Flints had mistakenly believed she was still available, and it was uncertain how many others held the same assumption. Yet, she knew that there was a huge risk of the wrong person finding out and this information being used against her family.

As evening drew near the girls moved up to Daphne's suite. Daphne went into the shower and began to get ready for the evening while Tracy moved to look through Daphne's wardrobe to help pick out an ideal outfit. Daphne utilized her vanilla scented body wash, shampoo and conditioner, and then set to drying off using first her soft cotton bath towels in Kelly green. Then She sat down to use a brush and drying charm to style her hair so that the blonde strands were smooth and straight. A quick shaving charm on her body ensured smooth skin, and she wrapped back up in her towel to get dressed. Tracy apparently bored waiting for friend was laying on Daphne's bed flipping through the latest issue of Witch Weekly.

Used to her friend's mannerisms, Tracy pointed to the chair in front of Daphne's desk where a nice set of icy blue formal robes were set out. This set was designed to show of her figure just hinting at cleavage with a deep v-neckline, and form fitted down to her waist and emphasizing her curvaceous bottom. Daphne pulled out a matching set to jewelry with Greengrass crest on topaz stones, the necklace and earrings set in silver.

It was exactly six o'clock and Tracy had gone back to her own home via the floo network an hour earlier when the wards alerted Daphne that someone was arriving. She slowly made her way to the receiving room to meet their guest feeling the slightest sense of forbearance as though something was about to go horribly wrong.

Harry Potter stood there in having just cleaned himself off as she entered. His hair neatly ordered though still wavy. He wore a set of dress robes in emerald, green that played off his eyes magnificently. The fit of the robes left no doubt as to the muscles hidden underneath the clothing and hinted at his wealth. The Potter family crest emblazoned on his cufflinks setin silver on an emerald on each side of his tailored jacket. The boy had taste or perhaps Not or Malfoy had actually made themselves helpful. Daphne smiled slightly before schooling her features and moving forward to greet him, "Welcome Potter, to the Fields. This is the ancestral home of the Greengrass family. My father is still in his study, I'll show you there."

Daphne walked slowly to ensure that the young man following her could not miss a single movement of her derriere. They soon stood in front of a dark cherry wood door that led to the head of house's study. Daphne knocked on the door, "father you have a visitor." It took a moment but the solid baritone that was Cyrus Greengrass's voice soon responded, "send him in then, please."
