The door to their shared apartment flew open and an exasperated Rin walked in, followed by a silent Shirou as he slowly closed the door behind him. Their ride back to the apartment had been filled with an uncomfortable silence as Shirou asked or said nothing with Rin seemingly more annoyed then he had ever seen her before. He didn't exactly blame her. He knew that Nathaniel Lawrence had always been something of a sore spot and although he had barely interacted with him three years ago, he knew he hated the man just as much as the one he had taken his name from.

"I can't believe that guy! Coming up to me and throwing around this asinine story about how he mended his ways!" Rin started complaining, slamming her hand on the dinner table.

"Rin please calm down…"

"How can you expect me to be calm right now Shirou!" she spat angrily "I thought the past was behind us. That we were long done with it but now out of nowhere the person who tried to kill me not once but twice comes back into my life, right here in London!"

Angrily stamping through the apartment, Rin was positively fuming and Shirou stood there unsure on how he should possibly calm her down.

"And that woman out there defending him! Who does she think she is!""

Shirou moved forward and turned Rin to face him, tightly holding onto her shoulders "Rin please breathe in and calm down. I understand you're upset and you have every right to be but he's gone now and we are safe here."

Rin scoffed "yeah safe until miss fancy pants tells him where we live" she said.

Shirou sighed "Rin she isn't going to do that. Luvia is a good person and I doubt she would tell him where we live. She saw very clearly that he was making you uncomfortable."

Now it was Rin's turn to sigh. Her face softened and she almost fell into Shirou's arms, wrapping hers around his waist and putting her head on his chest.

"I'm sorry I just…I was hoping we wouldn't have to deal with them anymore…"

Shirou wrapped his arms around her and held her close. He couldn't disagree with her. The Four Kings and everything they had done was something they thought they had moved on from. But after tonight even Shirou was beginning to wonder if fate was playing some cruel joke on them by bringing Lawrence basically on their front step.

"I feel you…" he said softly as he caressed her back and held her close "but we won't let him get us down. He's just a mediocre Magus who you can easily best in one on one fight."

Rin snickered and leaned her head upwards to look at him "oh you bet I can. I am Rin Tohsaka after all" she said confidently.

There was the Rin he loved. Strong and unstoppable, yet at the same time she was also so soft and loving in moments like this.

She reached upwards and gave him a deep kiss. Slow and subtle. He returned the favor by kissing her back, feeling the softness of her lips against his.

Not long after their kisses got more passionate and Rin pushed Shirou backwards against the dining table as their kissing soon became intense. Her hand reaching out and undoing the tie around his neck.

Breaking the kiss Shirou asked "Rin are you sure now is the moment…"

"Yes! I need to forget this night for a bit!" Rin interrupted before pulling him back in for a kiss.

Shirou felt himself get hot and restricted by the clothes he was wearing. He slipped off his formal jacket and let it land on the ground. Rin's hands were now all over him, trying to carefully yet quickly undo all the buttons on his dress shirt.

Meanwhile Shirou's hands found the zipper on the back of Rin's dress and slowly undid them. The red dress fell from her shoulders and down Rin's body and she stepped out of it. Shirou began to pepper Rin's neck with kisses, eliciting small moans from her.

The two slowly moved backwards and fell onto their bed together. Their lips enveloped into a passionate kiss leading to a passionate night.

The Next Morning:

The rays of sunlight shining through the curtains and the sound of rustling water awoke Shirou from his peaceful slumber.

He checked the time on his alarm clock. It was 9 AM and then as he stood up from bed he recalled the events of the night before. The gala, encountering Lawrence, returning back and well…

It wasn't the first time, of course not they had been together for three years. But this was certainly the most passionate and sudden night of intimacy they ever had. It all went so fast that Shirou was surprised by it all. Normally Rin was more calculated or planned these kinds of nights as a way to gather more mana but this one was wild and passionate.

Shirou smiled to himself as he began to walk towards the kitchen, at that moment he heard the sound of a ringing phone.

He looked at the house phone built into the wall. Who would call this early? He walked over towards the phone and picked up the receiver and held it to his ear.

"Hello this is Shirou Emiya" he answered.

"Oh my goodness Shirou it's you!" he heard from the other end, he could immediately recognize the voice. Of course it was none other then his former legal guardian and family friend Taiga Fujimaru.

"Fuji-mee what a surprise. Didn't expect you to call out of nowhere. Is everything alright?"

A long heavy sigh could be heard from the other end "Shirou I don't know how to tell you this but….I have some bad news…it's about your old friend Issei."

Suddenly Shirou felt himself wide awake and losing all his drowsiness from the sleep he had just awoken from.

"What is it? What's wrong with him…"

"Oh Shirou…he…he was found dead on the stairs of Ryuudou Temple…" said the clearly shaken and distraught voice of Taiga on the other end.

In shock Shirou dropped the phone from his hand, allowing it to hang there from its cord as he made his way to the nearby dinner table and held onto the edge. Shaking and his head was spinning.

"Shirou are you okay?"

Shirou turned his head. Seeing Rin exit the bathroom dressed in a bathrobe and her hair wet. He could barely mumble the news he had just heard.

"Issei is dead…"

And with that tears erupted from Shirou's eyes and he fell to his knees. Rin ran over to him and embraced him as he cried over the sudden death of his old friend.
