School Idols of the Lighthouse War

Scene 7

A New Plane Upgrade

Avril is overwatching several planes that are in the Airbase and is planning to deliver the parts to the School Idol Base in secret.

Avril's memoirs told this.

Avril: I was looking some perfect parts for that rising School Idol. I've seen her plane well. She got some guts, I'll tell ya.

I've had a chance to talk one of the pilots that escaped back here. So, I took it.

Apparently, 2 squadrons took the enemy on.

Avril watches over the pilots in the base.

They covered our forces, so they could retreat.

The hell kind of idiot does a thing like that?

The last pilot to land back at the base... was that scrawny anarchist dude.

He always had this dumb grin on his face, like he did to get thrown in here with the rest of us.

Was he the one who went gung-ho?

At night...

I bought 'im a drink later.

After the usual small talk, I turned the topic around to the mission.

For an anarchist, he struck me as a bit weird. Nothing like what I expected.

He talked a mile a minute and kept going on about library books.

Not encyclopedias. Those cheesy adventure novels you read in high school.

Nothing aganst those. I like a good story myself, once in a while.

But I wasn't here to talk books...

Tabloid: Ah, I remember that day well.

Amidst of swirling clouds, 2 fighter squadrons were trying to help our allies reach safety.

Avril: Those School Idols, are they?

Tabloid: I thought so too.

Suddenly, a highly-skilled enemy fighter squadron appeared and began picking off at the edges.

One by one, they fell right out of the sky.

Avril: The School Idols are shot?

Tabloid: No, not them.

Avril: Phew. That's a big relief.

Although, I guess there was nobody around that was even more foolish to go to their aid then.

So you simply watched things unfold for a distance.

Tabloid: Yeah. I mean, who would've thought that I'd just go and follow him straight into the enemy squadron like that…?

Avril: After what felt like decades, I finally got to the info I was looking for.

He wasn't that guy.

He said that he was just following the wingman's lead and the members managed not to die somehow.

The heroes on this mission were that girl and the School Idols.

The girl who got away from the killing of Harling.

How did you feel?

Tabloid: I'm still kinda shaken up, actually.

But you know, I do feel a curtain sense of pride, too.

Avril: These girls are a bit foolish, aren't they?

Tabloid: Nah. They are very kind and very helpful. And spirited and careful.

One can not be all too careful.

And after learning from Tabloid about Trigger and the School Idols, She decided to send her best aircraft parts on the delivery box and asked the driver to send these parts to the Sansaoban Airbase.

Avril: I went to the hangar to bring the finest aircraft parts to the Sansaoban Airbase, where Trigger is.

I knew that burnt smell.

That's what happens when an engine's been driven to its limit.

This pilot was a hot-dog.

For now on, I was gonna keep my eye on the School Idols and that girl. From a distance, though.

I didn't want to get too tight with someone who was a better pilot than my dad.

Even so, I decided to give this girl a little bit of the ol' Avril magic touch. She needs all the help she can get. Even with her Satsuman allies.
