Ion Frontier CEO:
"Mistakes were made. The situation has been handled and the survivors are being retrained. The good news is that we have some exciting opportunities for internal promotions. I've elected to take the initiative and put in the standard D and A package. The actual one."
"..."
"Yes, sir. Thank you, sir." *end call
"Sir?" His assistant prompted.
"Well I've still got my job which you should be getting confirmation of."
His secretary, who was definitely not a Militech agent, paused as a message came in and nodded.
Motoko Kusanagi. Please stop giving me work.
"Do you think she takes contracts for corporate trainings?"
-
Motoko warily eyed the box. It had been delivered by the Megabuilding so it wasnt immediately dangerous. (Letting Megabuildings explode in bombings was bad for business)
It had an Ion Frontier logo and "A proud Militech partner" tag line.
She worked a knife under the seal and then leapt back as the box... opened?
"Huh?"
She picked up an actual honest to god post card.
"Dear Ms. Kusanagi, please accept these most sincere apologies for the recent troubles at one of our satellite offices blah blah blah, enclosed in this package are some of our latest EMP offerings-"
"Free stuff!"
-
Somewhere in Night City Hiromi shuddered.
"A disturbance in the Business."
Malcom threw her a confused look.
"What?"
"I sense... an incredible missed opportunity to Diversify."
"...
I'm calling Motoko. Not today, so not dealing with this alone."
-
I figure a D and A or Disavowment and Apology packages are standard in the world of Cyberpunk what with rampant dickbaggery and corporate espionage.
At least 2 tiers. There's the standard "D and A" i.e., yeah we did it. You know we did it but we TECHNICALLY didnt do it so eat our ass lolololol.
And then there's the level up which is actual "We didnt do it, we didnt know they were going to do it. If we knew we would have stopped them. Please dont come over here and kill the rest of us."
