Boku no Hero Academia: Custodian Izuku
Disclaimer: This is a crossover fanfiction story of 'Boku no Hero Academia' and 'Warhammer 40k' (yes, really). I own nothing of the two series other than the fanfiction stories that I make.
I am making this story for the sake of fun, fluff and awesome after writing a one-shot story of the same story concept. If I am able to somehow impress fans of Warhammer 40k or even move someone to tears, even better.
Also, if anyone wants to know how in the world I got this idea in the first place, please refer to the artist, Ryuusei (Mark II), who has made some awesome pictures of gender-bent primarchs. The link is: .us/pools/17320
Please note that while I am familiar with the Warhammer 40k setting, my actual knowledge of it is casual at best. Also, if the genderbent primarchs seem at least a bit OOC, please kindly consider the fact that their bodies (especially the traitor primarchs) have changed drastically after entering Izuku's world.
In case anyone asks how much crack I was taking in to come up with the idea, I am just going to say enough to make even a loyalist Adaptus Astartes trippy.
Chapter 23: Sports Festival Preparation
Nearly a week passed before school lessons at U.A. High School resumed. During that time, Nedzu made an announcement that the Flameborn would begin working at the school as new staff. In fact, two the Flameborn would actually attend Class V as new students alongside Oboro and Karutoko, who were the two surviving members of the League of Chaos Undivided, and certain members of a group of vigilantes known as the "Penites Imperialis".
Eri and Karutoko wasted no time in asking their new Flameborn classmates, a female with pale-blond fur and a white underbelly named Sneek and a male with light-brown fur and a large patch of black fur that covered his back and the top of his head named Kratch, if they could pet and hug them.
Toshinori could not help but chuckle as he spoke to Eri and Karutoko who were hugging Sneek and Kratch respectively, "All right, you two, please let go of your new classmates and take your seats."
Both girls let go of the two Flameborn that they were hugging and obediently went to their respective seats. With the inclusion of not only eighteen former primarchs, two former cultists, a young child, a formerly-quirkless student and two Flameborn, the total number of students was twenty-four. While certainly larger than a typical class of twenty, the issue was mitigated by the intelligence and independence of the former primarchs.
Once everyone had settled down, Toshinori announced, "As you know, U.A. High School was closed for almost a week. While study materials have been sent to every student to make up for the missed lessons, there is still a lot that cannot be taught through online classes or self-study. Therefore, students will be expected to attend extra classes for the next few weeks to make up for lost time. Yes, that includes even the new students here."
"Damn, and I was hoping that I can be excused from taking extra lessons," said Oboro who was half-joking. Due to dying as a second-year student, never mind having his body restored to the said age after dying as Kurogiri, Nedzu decided that Oboro would have to attend lessons as a student of Class V.
The irony of being a student again in spite of having friends who were already teachers of U.A. High School was not lost to the former noumu.
Toshinori smiled and said, "I'm afraid that you'll have to take the extra lessons like everyone else, Shirakumo-shounen." He then continued with his announcement, "On another note, the U.A. Sports Festival will still be taking place as originally planned. However, in light of recent events, the level of security will be increased further to ensure the safety of not only the students and the staff but also the spectators."
Eri raised her hand and innocently asked, "Does that mean that Dorn-neechan, Ferrus-neechan and Vulkan-neechan will be making more big guns, sensei?"
"Among other things," confirmed Toshinori who almost winced at the thought of ordinary villains getting perforated, if not blown to bits, by ludicrously powerful automated canons. Thankfully, the former primarchs agreed to make the automated canons capable of giving warnings to intruders, warning shots included, before proceeding to shoot whoever was desperate or stupid enough to push their luck "straight to oblivion".
"What about the drones?" asked Izuku.
"About those, at least some of them will be used to record the festival events while the rest will be used to increase security," answered Toshinori.
Sneek typed a message on a mobile phone which had been donated to her by Nedzu and, through it, asked, "Will my kind take part too?"
Unlike their spoken speech, messages typed by the Flameborn generally lacked their unusual speech pattern.
Toshinori rubbed his chin and said, "Probably, though I imagine most of them will be working alongside the staff instead of participating in the sports festival itself."
Karutoko grinned broadly and said, "Thwis hwill bwe fwuns!"
For some reason, a chill of dreadful worry crawled down Toshinori's spine and he was not alone in having such an ominous feeling.
-Later that day…-
Perturabo, who had decided to join the support course classes with Vulkan, Dorn and Ferrus, raised an eyebrow and asked, "So, as part of my penitence, you want me to keep an eye on a certain student named Hatsume Mei while the rest of you do your own projects in peace for… today, correct?"
Ferrus nodded and said, "Just for today, and then once every alternate day after that."
"Also, you're not allowed to harm anyone no matter how tempting it may be," added Vulkan.
"In addition, you will be volunteering to test out Mei's… 'babies'," said Dorn.
Primarchs were not supposed to feel fear but even Perturabo knew that something was not right about the situation as she asked, "Are you all assuming that I will not be able to handle her for more than a day?"
Ferrus sighed and said, "You'll find out soon enough."
-Meanwhile, with Guilliman…-
Guilliman was discussing with Magnus and Fulgrim who were both fellow students of Class V taking additional lessons in the business course, "As you know, the upcoming sports festival is not just a national sport but also a chance for students from various courses, especially the hero course, to showcase their abilities."
"Knowing our sisters in the support course, I can imagine them building at least a few power armour suits that they can use to showcase their inventive skills during the sports festival," said Magnus.
Fulgrim smiled bitterly at the idea of Ferrus wearing a modified version of her original power armour and said, "I'd be surprised if they didn't consider it at the very least."
Guilliman nodded and said, "We have always been, and still are, a competitive bunch or perfectionists after all."
"So, the question is: Should we join forces with our sisters in the support course or the ones in the hero course?" asked Magnus.
Guilliman could not help but grin as she answered, "That will, in part, depend on the quality of the support gear they can provide us." While she was a loyalist primarch in her past life, it did not mean that she would refuse having her own version of "fun" in the coming sports festival.
-At the library of U.A. High School…-
Gwalchavad, who had decided to attend U.A. High School as a "general student", glanced at Omegon and asked, "Aren't you going to do your 'secret mission' like your sister?"
Omegon, who might actually be Alpharius, nodded and said, "In due time. My sister and I simply believe that we should take turns 'sneaking off' to lower suspicion even though Principal Nedzu has allowed it for his own amusement." She then tilted her head and asked, "What about you?"
"I'm just going to do the bare minimum and no more than that unless I have a reason to," answered Gwalchavad.
Well aware of Gwalchavad's still-present bitterness towards the Emperor, Omegon knew better than to press her for more answers. Instead, she nodded at her fellow former primarch before leaving the school library to "use the toilet".
After Omegon had left, Gwalchavad sighed before continuing with her current project: a hand-written "fictional" chronicle of the Imperium of Mankind.
Just because the truth of the Imperium would have to be revealed in time, it did not mean that a "work of fiction" could not be used as a means of spreading at least some of the information in a form that was easier to process. Still, some elements had to be altered so that the "fictional story" would not have an uncanny resemblance to the actual truth. One example of such an alternation was having the story take place in a fantasy-setting instead of a futuristic galaxy-spanning science-fiction setting.
Gwalchavad could not help but wonder how things would have turned out if the Emperor had considered taking such steps early on but conceded to the fact that most humans cared more about survival than fictional entertainment after the events of the 'Old Night'.
-Meanwhile, at Training Ground Gamma…-
"Run away!" yelled Kaminari as he, Minoru, Nirengeki and Yousetsu barely avoided getting pelted by a barrage of rubber bullets.
The source of the bullets was a massive gatling gun that was being manned by Flameborn volunteers who had, in their language, affectionately called it a 'Ratling Gun'.
"How the fuck did they manage to get themselves a literal gatling gun?!" swore Yousetsu.
"Anyone… want to bet… a thousand yen… that… the support course… and Principal Nedzu… are involved somehow?" gasped Minoru who was trying to calm his rapidly-beating heart. He could have sworn his life flashed before his eyes before barely avoiding the bullets.
Nirengeki, who was normally humble and soft-spoken, could not help but a little deadpan as he replied, "I'm not betting against that."
"If only we had someone like Kirishima or Tetsutetsu to lead the charge," cursed Kaminari before he asked his three team mates, "Do any of you have a plan on how to deal with that?"
"If we have a large metal plate and a few castors, I may be able to make a mobile barrier for us," said Yousetsu.
"I can try turning that barrier into a projectile with my 'Twin Impact' quirk," suggested Nirengeki.
"My balls should be able to serve as added padding for the front part of the barrier and stick onto anything that they touch, the gun included," said Minoru.
"Then let's get building before they decide to surprise us, again," said Denki.
Suddenly, the four boys heard a soft squeak that they could have sworn sounded amused. They immediately turned their attention towards Eshin who was wielding a wooden staff in his hands.
"I'm betting ten thousand yen that he's like a mini-me version of Master Splinter from 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'," said Denki.
Before anyone could reply, Eshin leapt forward with surprising speed and smacked Denki on the forehead with his wooden staff…
-With the rest of the students taking part in the her course lessons…-
Kyouka snorted in amusement at Denki's comical quip about Eshin before he got his backside handed to him by the elderly-looking Flameborn. Many students from Classes 1A and 1B soon started wincing as they watched Eshin and the Flameborn under his command, including Sneek, take down the four boys with an ease that would have convinced them that the intelligent rodents had been training for years.
"At least it's not as embarrassing as getting run over by a giant mouse-wheel, literally," said Mina who then sheepishly turned her attention towards Kirishima and Tetsutetsu who were sulking over the fact that they were both defeated by the Flameborns' "Speedy Wheel".
"Am I the only one who's worried that the Flameborn will steal the show when they make their appearance during the sports festival?" asked Mashirao.
"Nope, it's not just you," said Tooru.
Juuzou sighed in resignation and said, "Let's just be glad that they're on our side."
The students from Class V who had joined the hero course lesson were also watching the four boys getting defeated by the Flameborn. Lion frowned as she spoke, "Their plan to counter the gatling gun has merit but they acted too slowly and were too careless about their surroundings."
"To be fair, not many people would expect to deal with a massive gatling gun, even one that shoots rubber bullets, during a training lesson," argued Izuku.
Mortarion huffed and said, "If I was in their place, I would have been able to move around the gun's firing range and take out the assassins with my bare hands."
"Ah, give those pups some slack," said Russ who then grinned and added, "Even you were surprised by the 'Speedy Wheel'."
While Mortarion wore a displeased expression, which was most certainly not a pout, Sanguinius smiled and said, "In spite of their clear flaws, it is good that they are able to at least come up with a plan that could have worked if given a chance to be executed."
Angron nodded and said, "The sports festival will be coming before long and they will need all the training they can get if they wish to somehow impress someone of high standing." As a former enslaved gladiator, she knew a thing or two about gladiatorial matches and was certain that it would happen in some form during the sports festival.
"Speaking of the sports festival, I wonder how involved the support course will be this time," said Khan.
Suddenly, a soft boom could be heard…
-Back at the support department…-
Dorn, Ferrus and Vulkan were actually smiling in contentment while doing their respective projects at a seemingly sedate pace in spite of the fact that an explosion had just happened behind them.
Perturabo, whose face was covered in soot, felt her right eye twitch in barely-restrained rage before she grabbed Mei by the straps of her black tank top and shook her while yelling, "What in the Emperor's sanctified rectal sphincter were you thinking?!"
Mei, who was not at all intimidated by Perturabo's apoplectic fury, grinned unapologetically and said, "I just wanted to see what happens when the power cell is pushed to its limits.
By forcing it to charge to 200% of its original capacity?!" yelled Perturabo.
"If I had it my way, I would have charged it by 300%, at minimum," said Mei.
A pulsating vein appeared on Perturabo's forehead as she growled, "You're lucky that I'm obligated to keep you alive and unharmed because I am sorely tempted to have you lobotomised and turned into a servitor for your transgressions!"
"You're not the first one to threaten me with that," said Mei who recalled Dorn making the same threat.
Unable to "properly express" her rage towards Mei, Perturabo released her grip onto Mei's tank top and proceeded to yell profanities in several Imperial languages while bashing her own head against the work table that she and Mei had been using.
"This is a nice change of pace, isn't it?" asked Ferrus who seemed completely oblivious of the madness happening behind her.
"Yes, it is," agreed Dorn.
"Let's enjoy it while it still lasts," said Vulkan.
Higari shook his head at the scene and said with a weary sigh, "That student from I-Island can't arrive soon enough!"
-Meanwhile, on a private jet that was bound to Japan…-
"Ah-choo!"
A full-figured and attractive girl with a round face, wavy blond hair and aqua-blue eyes named Melissa Shield rubbed her nose before she adjusted her spectacles. As she did so, she thought, "I wonder if someone is talking about me?"
A message appeared on her phone and she smiled as she recognised the sender, All Might. Her father, David Shield, used to be All Might's sidekick back when the blonde pro-hero was still doing his heroics in America. Although the two men parted ways in the end, with one of them becoming the No.1 pro-hero in all of Japan and the other becoming a world-renowned inventor on a mobile artificial Island called I-Island, they still kept in touch with each other.
Not too long ago, Melissa received a call from All Might asking her if she was interested to study at U.A. High School and even work as a part-time assistant teacher. While there was no denying that the science labs available on I-Island were superior to even the labs at U.A. High School, albeit by a small margin, Melissa readily accepted the offer. After all, in spite of the recent attack by the thankfully-defeated League of Chaos Undivided, U.A. High School was still a very safe location even by the standards of someone from a place as secure as I-Island. In addition, the first year support course of U.A. High School had some "additional students" who were extremely talented inventors despite having mysterious origins. As a fellow inventor, Melissa was keen to meet them in person. That was not even counting the fact that, recently-awakened quirk aside, there was a student who wanted to be a pro-hero in spite of being essentially quirkless for years. As a quirkless individual herself, how could Melissa not want to see him in person and give him her support?
As for the Flameborn, Melissa honestly found them endearing and would not mind making something nice for them. The blond girl smiled as she got an idea and thought, "I should start designing some stun guns and stun batons that they can safely use for self-defence."
-Later that day…-
Izuku and the former primarchs who took part in the heroics course lessons returned to the Imperial Dorm and noticed that Perturabo, who had a sore-looking forehead, was lying on the couch as though she had just fought several greater daemons of the Chaos Gods with her bare hands.
Well aware of Mei's "eccentricities", Izuku simply asked Perturabo, "Hatsume Mei?"
"Yes…" groaned Perturabo who was too exhausted to even sound angry.
"You want a drink?" asked Russ.
"The strongest one," answered Perturabo.
Russ nodded and said, "I'll be back in a minute. I need to get the distilled stuff from upstairs."
During the restoration and repair of the school grounds, Russ was able to somehow build a functional distiller. As for how she was able to build one, it involved collecting salvaged scrap, including some of Mei's broken "babies", and using the support course labs while no one else was present.
Not surprised that Russ was going to make something alcoholic, again, Corax asked Perturabo rhetorically, "Those three made you handle Mei all by yourself today, didn't they?"
Angered by the reminder, Perturabo shifted her face so that it was "buried" into the couch cushion that her head was on and groaned loudly while she mentally swore, "I will get even with those three even if it is the last thing I do!" Regardless of the fact that Perturabo was a former traitor primarch who had accepted the painful path of penitence, being forced to keep someone as "Orky" and chaotic as Mei in check all by herself while being forbidden from using any form of violence to keep her in check was simply cruel even by the standards of the Iron Warriors Legion.
"I hope you're all hungry because dinner's ready, nya!" said Nekona as she, together with Eri, Inko and Vulkan, stepped out of the kitchen while carrying trays of food.
Eri, who was holding a small tray of chocolate muffins, smiled when she saw Izuku and the former primarchs who had just returned from heroics classes and said, "Welcome back!"
Curze smiled as she replied, "We're home."
Before long, everyone in the Imperial Dorm, including Nekona, had dinner together. Russ made an alcoholic cocktail for Perturabo to drink but told her to drink it slowly as she could not make too many of the "real good stuff". Heeding Russ' advice, Perturabo took a small sip of the cocktail. Surprised by its good taste, she said, "I was honestly expecting it to taste more like engine coolant."
"If I wanted to make you drunk real quick, I would have just grabbed a bottle of 70% ethanol from a lab or an infirmary for you to chug down," said Russ who then pointed at Nekona and added, "And she'll never let me live it down if I actually do that."
Nekona huffed and said, "As an aspiring chef, of course I won't stand for such a horrible 'culinary heresy', nya!"
Russ rolled her eyes while Izuku asked Nekona, "Are you planning to run a food stall during the sports festival?"
Nekona shook her head and said, "I have thought about it, but I want to take part in the festival, nya." She then glanced at Russ and said, "I have some… unfinished business to settle first, nya."
Russ smirked at Nekona and said, "Are you sure about that? It'll be a shame if that kitty-face of yours gets… 'rearranged'."
"You should be worried about your own face, nya," said Nekona who wore her cheerful smile in spite of her growing desire to attack Russ.
"Yes, yes, we all know that you two are beautiful and are a few punches away from deciding to kiss each other like a couple of long-lost lovers," said Fulgrim.
Nearly everyone almost chocked at Fulgrim's perfectly-delivered remark while Nekona and Russ blushed while yelling in unison, "W-what did you say?!"
Completely unperturbed by the reactions around her, Fulgrim wore a smile that would have seduced men and women alike as she replied, "It's nothing truly monumental. I'm just voicing my observation of the… 'tension' between the two of you."
"How in the world did you even come to such a conclusion, nya?!" yelled Nekona.
"I'm not one to usually agree with the dumb cat, but I'm agreeing with her on this one!" exclaimed Russ.
Fulgrim's teasing smile widened ever so slightly as she replied, "Well, for starters, you two are squabbling like an old married couple."
"Oh, throne no!" said Russ who then added, "If I'm kissing anyone, I'm choosing Kouji!"
A moment of silence passed before Angron tilted her head and said, "Huh, so I was right about your emotions towards him."
Russ' blush deepened while she struggled to respond while Nekona thought, "Well, at least everyone's attention is on the stinky dog, nya. A second longer and I would have admitted wanting to date Rikidou-kun, nya."
If only Nekona knew that Magnus could read minds.
-On the following day…-
"Hello, my name is Melissa Shield and I will be assisting Power Loader-sensei with the lessons in this class for the foreseeable future," said Melissa who then bowed to the class and added, "I look forward to helping you all grow as support students."
Mei, who was grinning broadly like an Orky Mekboy who had just found an abandoned 'Baneblade Super-Heavy Tank' to tinker and modify to her heart's content, was practically vibrating in excitement. Given Melissa's status as both David Shield's daughter and a skilled inventor in her own right if the claims were true, not even Perturabo could find significant fault in her excitement. It was therefore not surprising that Mei raised her hand high and said, "Come over here and join us! We've so many babies to show you!"
Melissa raised an eyebrow and glanced at Power Loader who explained with a tired sigh, "Hatsume Mei tends to call her inventions her 'babies'."
Immediately understanding Power Loader's response, Melissa turned her attention back towards Mei and said, "I will come over to see your inventions later. Please understand that I am to assist Power Loader-sensei with his lessons so I have to check on everyone else too."
Mei gave Melissa a thumb's up and said, "No problem! Just make sure to come over to check out our babies during class."
Ferrus whispered to Vulkan, Dorn and Perturabo, "One day of 'Mei Watching Duty' that Melissa is or will become a crazy inventor in her own right after today."
Vulkan almost chuckled as she replied, "One day of 'Mei Watching Duty' that she will be an invaluable asset in preventing Mei's explosions from happening too often."
"One day of 'Mei Watching Duty' that she will not dare to help us keep Mei in check after today," said Dorn.
"You three should take your duties more seriously," grumbled Perturabo before she added, "One day of 'Mei Watching Duty' that she will try to strangle Mei before the day is over."
It should be noted that the four former primarchs did not dare to risk having more than a single added day of keeping Mei in check.
"Now that introductions are over, we will now focus on today's topic which I'm sure will interest all you," said Power Loader who could not help but grin broadly as he displayed the topic and announced, "Powered Armour!"
Less than ten minutes later, two of the four former primarchs attending the support course lesson would be proven right about Melissa's reaction to Mei.
-In the primarchs' original universe…-
It was not every day that space marines, including their traitorous chaos counterparts, felt actual pity for their primarchs.
It was also not every day that human psykers received visions of Perturabo smashing her head against something hard due to sheer frustration.
Visions of Perturabo's comical yet understandable desire to wring Hatsume Mei's neck aside, there had been reports of Ork Mekboys wearing 'hair squigs' which give them the appearance of having pink dreadlocks. A commonly-agreed opinion about the recent interest in having pink dreadlocks came from 'Ork Wierdboys' seeing visions of Hatsume Mei and her decidedly "Orky" way of building and testing new inventions.
Unfortunately for every non-Ork in the galaxy, it was increasingly apparent that Mekboys with pink dreadlocks had a higher tendency to build weapons and vehicles which were, if not functionally superior, more likely to have "comical malfunctions" than their peers who lacked the said dreadlocks. The malfunctions included: unstable fuel cells that created explosions which somehow bypassed void shields, mines that created actual rips into the Immaterium instead of simply exploding as originally intended and guns that shot electrical bolts that, for some reason, turned their victims into squigs instead of melting their brains. Even worse, the longer a Mekboy with pink dreadlocks lived and experimented, the more likely the said Mekboy would gain the experience necessary to build genuinely superior weapons and vehicles.
Fearing that the Orks were on the path of reviving their original prowess of their predecessors, the Krorks, the Aeldari were forced to swallow their pride as the "true inheritor of the stars" and form alliances with various "lesser races" to keep the Orks in check. Fortunately, little was needed to convince many races, especially the Necrons, T'au and humans, that letting the Orks gain any level of greater war potential was undesirable.
Not even the forces of Chaos, weakened as they were by recent events, wanted the Orks to become more powerful.
Fortunately, the Imperium was not idle in its ongoing endeavour to drive the alien, the mutant and the heretic to obliteration. One of the steps that the Imperium had taken was to create new space marine chapters, including one that was especially dedicated to ensuring the successful delivery of vital supplies to the countless battle fronts of the Imperium as well as provide additional combat support if needed. Known as the Star Cats, the space marine chapter was notable for having distinctively feline mutations and, among the librarians of the chapter, an unusually strong connection to the former primarchs' interactions with Nekona.
In spite of the grim situation with the Orks, never mind the growing threat of the Tyranids, many loyal Imperial citizens could not help but be curious, if not excited, to see what the former primarchs and their sanctified custodian, Izuku, would do or accomplish during the coming sports festival.
-End Chapter-
Author's Notes:
Another short chapter but, assuming that I do it right, the upcoming U.A. Sports Festival is going to be quite a day for many people in both universes.
I will most likely end the story, or at least the main/first part of it, soon after the conclusion of the sports festival.
As for the Flameborn Classmates of Class V:
nSneek - She has pale-blond fur with a white underbelly. She is also a member of Class V. She is agile and sneaky like a ninja.
nKratch - He has light-brown fur with a large patch of black fur that covers his back and the top of his head. He is also a member of Class V. He is unexpectedly strong and tough for his size.
Star Cats - A hybridised successor chapter of both the Space Wolves and the lost second legion, the Lightning Bearers, the Star Cats are skilled in not only logistics but also providing support such as providing medical aid, supplies for war, ranged fire support and delicious food. They also help to ensure the successful delivery of vital supplies to the countless battle fronts of the Imperium. Unfortunately, the Star Cats and the Space Wolves do not get along at all in spite of sharing the same gene sire. Inspired by Nekona, who possesses cat-like features like themselves, the Star Cats use different shades of pink as their chapter colours with a cat's paw print as their chapter symbol. (Yes, this chapter is an expy of the Space Maids by ChumiiCham with slightly less satire.)
Until next time, go beyond, plus ultra!
