Boku no Hero Academia: Custodian Izuku

Disclaimer: This is a crossover fanfiction story of 'Boku no Hero Academia' and 'Warhammer 40k' (yes, really). I own nothing of the two series other than the fanfiction stories that I make.

I am making this story for the sake of fun, fluff and awesome after writing a one-shot story of the same story concept. If I am able to somehow impress fans of Warhammer 40k or even move someone to tears, even better.

Also, if anyone wants to know how in the world I got this idea in the first place, please refer to the artist, Ryuusei (Mark II), who has made some awesome pictures of gender-bent primarchs. The link is: .us/pools/17320

Please note that while I am familiar with the Warhammer 40k setting, my actual knowledge of it is casual at best. Also, if the genderbent primarchs seem at least a bit OOC, please kindly consider the fact that their bodies (especially the traitor primarchs) have changed drastically after entering Izuku's world.

In case anyone asks how much crack I was taking in to come up with the idea, I am just going to say enough to make even a loyalist Adaptus Astartes trippy.

Chapter 24: Sports Festival Madness (Part 1)

Nearly a month after the attack at U.A. High School, people from all around the world took a day off however they could to watch a live broadcast of the U.A. Sports Festival. Under normal circumstances, most people would prefer to watch live broadcasts of the second and third year students performing as they would have more experience than their first year counterparts. However, as students from Class V would be taking part in the sports festival alongside the first year students, basically everyone wanted to watch a live broadcast of them performing.

People from all over Japan, including a number of notable pro-heroes such as Miruko, Endeavour and Wash, gathered at the U.A. Sports Festival Stadium to watch the first years' to say, excitement and expectation filled the air.

Yamada Hizashi, who was seated in the press box of the U.A. Sports Festival Stadium, wore a broad grin as heannounced, "Pay attention, spectators! Gather around, mass media! This year's high school event that you all love, the U.A. Sports Festival, is about the begin! Are you ready?!"

As hundreds ofspectators cheered loudly in response, Hizashi announced, "Then let's welcomethe contestants of the first yearstage!" Shouta, who was seated next to Hizashi as a co-commentator, sighed in resigned aggravation towards his long-time friend and fellow pro-hero.

Oboro, who had decided to not take part in the sports festival to spend more time with his friends, with Nedzu's permission of course, grinned as he added his own contribution to the festivities, "The U.A. Sports Festival is an event where fledgling heroes step forward to prove their worth to the world!Speaking of fledgling heroes, let's give a round of applause to the students of the hero course, Classes 1A and 1B!"

The crowd cheered as the students from both classes stepped forward into the field. Understandably, they were nervous as they were, even if only for a moment, the centre of attention. Hizashi then proceeded to introduce the general studies course classes, Classes 1C, 1D and 1E, the support course classes, Classes 1F, 1G and 1H and the business course classes, Classes 1I, 1J and 1K.

Once everyone else had entered the field, Oboro announced, "And now, the students that so many have been waiting for, especially the mysterious and mighty maidens who have impressed even the likes of All Might himself, Class V!"

The spectators cheered jubilantly as the students of Class V, with a few students absent, stepped into the field. Similar to Oboro, Sneek and Kratch were not taking part in the festival with the other students as they had been entrusted with other tasks that were related to it such as security. Eri, being a young child, was obviously not taking part in the sports festival. In fact, she was currently watching the match from the VIP box alongside Inko and Toshinori.

With only the former primarchs, Izuku and Karutoko actively participating in the sports festival, the number of participants from Class V was twenty in total.

Once all the first-year classes had gathered in the field, Nemuri, who was standing on a stage, cracked her flogger-style whip and said, "It's time for the players' pledge. Representing the first-year students, and by popular demand at that,is none other than the winged angel of Class V, Sanguinius!"

A warp portal suddenly appeared next to Nemuri so that Oboro could step out of it while holding a sign that said, "BEAUTIFUL BAD-ASS ANGELS FOR THE WIN!"

While some of the former primarchs, including Lion, Perturabo and Mortarion, sighed or groaned at the text written on the sign, others actually found it a bit amusing. Sanguinius was one of the latter as she chuckled at the message on the sign. She then had an idea and turned her attention towards Izuku to ask, "Would you mind escorting me to the stage, Izuku?"

Surprised, Izuku asked, "Are you sure?"

Sanguinius nodded and replied, "Yes, I'm sure."

Seeing no reason to refuse Sanguinius' request, Izuku did not question her further as he escorted her to the stage. As Izuku followed Sanguinius to the stage, Angron asked Curze, "She's going to make him do the pledge instead, isn't she?"

Curze, together with many other former primarchs, nodded and said, "Yup."

Once Izuku and Sanguinius stood on the stage together, which made more than a few people jealous of the young man, Sanguinius spoke, "While I am honoured to stand on this stage before all of you to make this pledge, I feel that there is one who is more worthy of making that pledge than I am." She then turned her attention towards Izuku and added, "And that person is the one who now stands beside me."

A moment of silence passed before Izuku's eyes widened comically while he pointed at himself and exclaimed, "M-me?!"

Sanguinius smiled impishly and said, "Yes, you." She then gave him the microphone in her hand while speaking to him with an encouraging smile, "You have a far greater gift in inspiring hope and determination in others than you realise, Midoriya Izuku."

While many spectators had their doubts, a few knew that Sanguinius was correct. Among those few were pro-heroes such as Best Jeanist, Wash and All Might who had witnessed Izuku's wisdom and courage as he fought against the League of Chaos Undivided alongside them.

Taken off guard by the position he had suddenly found himself in, never mind his still-present lack of confidence in matters not related to protecting the innocent and vanquishing the evil, Izuku was understandably nervous as he took the microphone from Sanguinius' hands. He was about to stammer a greeting to the expectant audience when he suddenly received a slap on the back by Oboro. He yelped in surprise and turned around to see the former noumu who grinned at him and gave him a thumb's up while saying, "You got this one, Midoriya!"

Izuku could have sworn that, for a single fleeting moment, he saw a vision of Shuuichi and Nezuko smiling at him.

Feeling his determination grow, Izuku nodded at Oboro before he turned his attention towards the audience. Though he felt certain that he would make at least one embarrassing mistake while giving his pledge, he was determined to give his best shot in presenting a speech that would inspire hope in others. He took a deep breath to calm his nerves before he said, "Before I begin with my pledge, I would like to first apologise beforehand if I get long-winded like Principal Nedzu." A few people chuckled at his self-depreciating joke before he continued with his pledge…

-Actual start of the pledge…-

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a hero who can inspire hope in others like All Might. Even the tragic… misdiagnosis of my quirk status all those years ago did not fully extinguish my desire to be a hero. I will admit that I was, and still am to some degree, a wimpy crybaby so you can probably imagine how easy a target I was for bullying. For a long time, I thought that I would spend the rest of my days as a bullied powerless boy who desperately clings onto his impossible dream to be a hero.

Then, about a year ago, I met An-chan and the others.

It's no exaggeration to say that the reason why I am able to stand on this very stage before all of you today is because, in spite of being terrified for my life at the time, I was somehow able to stand my ground and offer a helping hand to someone far bigger and stronger than myself.

So many people in this society believe that it is only with great power that evil can be held in check. However, that is not what I believe in. It is the little things, the everyday simple acts of courage, kindness and love that truly keep the forces of evil at bay.

Even with my recently-awakened quirk, I doubt that I will ever be equal to so many great heroes that have existed in the past, exist in the present and will exist in the future. Even so, I will give my all so that I will one day be, if nothing else, worthy of being called a true hero by the people who truly matter to me.

To all the people who suffer from the unjustified cruelties that come with being born in a world… no, a universe where men are not born equal, I implore to you to not lose yourself to mad ambition, raging hatred, decaying despair or cruel desire. To those who wish to be better or do what is right, know that the dream of better days can only have a chance to be made manifest by refusing to surrender to the ever-encroaching darkness that seeks to consume and ruin any and all that we hold dear from both without and within ourselves. To those who think that doing what is right is pointless in this unforgiving universe, watch us and weep as we stand our ground against the impossible and say without fear, "We are here!"

For all that we cherish, live with honour, fight with courage and, if death while on the line of duty is how we meet our end, die in glory! PLUS ULTRA!

-End of the pledge…-

A moment of shocked silence passed as Izuku completed his pledge. It took a moment for him to realise that he, in his moment of passion, copied All Might's pose with his right first held high in the air while shining brightly from the golden aura of his "recently-awakened" quirk. For a fleeting moment, he feared that he had somehow made a monumental mess of his pledge.

Then, nearly every single person in the stadium cheered as one, "PLUS ULTRA!"

Izuku was so taken aback by the overwhelming positive response that he almost took a step back. A strong yet gentle hand on his shoulder stopped him from taking that step. He turned his attention towards Sanguinius who smiled proudly at him and said, "The sincerity and conviction in your pledge would have moved even the Emperor's finest."

-Meanwhile, in the primarchs' original universe…-

As the people of the Imperium were already aware of the U.A. Sports Festival in the alternate version of Holy Terra, it was no surprise to them that visions of the sports festival taking place would appear before long. Was was more surprising though was that the Orks, including the infamous Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka himself, decided to hold off any further attacks against humanity for a short time so that they could watch the sports festival to its conclusion. In fact, the Orks did not mind watching the visions alongside with loyal imperial citizens and were even willing to be temporary allies with the Imperium to drive off anyone and anything that would dare to interrupt their "relukzation time". The Orks even took the trouble to build what were essentially enormous outdoor screens at various locations all across the galaxy so that the visions could be seen by all.

Necrons, tyranids and drukhari learnt about the temporary alliance between the Orks and the Imperium the hard way.

As a war-loving race, the Orks were confused, if not genuinely perturbed, by the humans, including even some of the normally stoic Space Marine, shedding tears after hearing Izuku's speech. In their point of view, the "zoggin fights" had not even started for Gork's/Mork's sake!

While the Orks and the Imperium shared an extremely rare and fleeting moment of peaceful coexistence, a certain shattered spirit within the Realms of Chaos raged with explosively apoplectic yet impotent fury.

-Back in Izuku's home universe…-

Nemuri, who needed a minute to wipe a few tears from her eyes after being moved by Izuku's pledge, grinned broadly as she announced to the crowd, "All right, ladies and gentlemen! Let's get started with our first event! Also known as the preliminaries, only the top eightycontenders will be able to move on tothe next event! This year's preliminaries is… this!"

The screen behind Nemuri displayed "OBSTACLE RACE!"as thetitle of thepreliminary event. Nemuri then explained the event for both the students and the spectators, "It's a race between all thefirst-year classes! It is nearly four kilometres long and goes around the stadium. As long as the students stay within the courseand avoid causing harm to anyone, they're all free to do anythingand everything they can to win!" A large door which led to the obstacle race course opened as Nemuri continued to speak, "So let's get right to it! On your mark…"

Everyone who wanted to win the race became tense as they waited for it to start.

"Get set…" said Nemuri who then cracked her whip and yelled, "GO!"

Immediately, everyone ran towards the large door. However, with so many students trying to get through the door first, it was inevitable that a "foot traffic jam" ensued. Khan, who had wasted no time to run ahead of the competition, was the first one to emerge to the other side of the entrance. Before long, she reached a different zone which, for some reason, had over two dozen deep trenches dug across the path. She soon found out why when a "furry problem" suddenly emerged from the ground some distance beyond the last trench.

"Fire-shoot at will!" yelled a Flameborn.

Khan was barely able to duck into a trench to avoid getting pelted by a massive volley of paint balls from several 'ratling guns'. The few students who somehow managed to catch up to her, including Pony and Setsuna, were not so lucky as many of them got pelted by at least a few paint balls.

"And here's the first actual obstacle in the race, ladies and gentlemen!" said Hizashi who then added bombastically, "The Ratling Trenches!"

The sound of a hand loudly slapping onto a face could be heard as Shouta groaned, "Somebody, please free me from this cringe-fest…!"

Khan peeked over the trench she was hiding in and said her thoughts aloud, "Well, I'm not surprised to see them volunteering to be an obstacle but this is certainly a problem." She then glanced to the side and noticed that Inasa, who could create powerful gales of wind to catch up with her, was able to avoid getting pelted by the paint balls by deflecting them with his quirk. However, he was forced to slow down as he wanted to avoid getting pelted by paint balls from the ratling guns. What was more, it seemed that the Flameborn "ratling gunners" and their weapons were protected by individual force fields that prevented Inasa's wind attacks from hitting them. Khan raised an eyebrow at the sight of the circular force fields and said, "Huh, those four were able to build functional personal force field generators sooner than expected."

"So, what we do?" asked Pony who was lucky enough to use her detached horns as make-shift shields to block the worst of the "hits" from the paint balls. It should be noted that her ability to essentially fly in the air by riding on her detached horns was part of the reason why she could barely catch up with Khan in spite of the latter's speed and the "heavy foot traffic" at the entrance.

"I doubt the Flameborn can keep shooting forever but, the longer we stay here, the more likely the competition will catch up to us," said Khan.

"The we'll have to take down the guns as quickly as possible," said Corax who appeared between Pony and Setsuna without them noticing.

Pony shrieked comically in fright while Setsuna loudly swore, "Bloody hell! You almost gave us heart attacks!"

"Theoretically, we can just charge forward and just take down the guns ourselves since they only shoot paint balls," said Khan.

Corax raised an eyebrow and asked rhetorically, "Practically speaking, how many people, our sisters included, do you think will volunteer to end up becoming walking Jackson Pollock paintings?"

Khan snorted as she resisted the urge to laugh and said, "Other than Eijirou and Tetsutetsu, probably, either not many or none at all."

Suddenly, something bright shone over the trenches for a fleeting moment before the sounds of flying drones filled the sky above the trenches. Pony looked up with wide eyes as she saw the darkening sky and uttered, "So many…"

"Something tells me that the the drones are meant to slow down anyone who can somehow get past the volleys of paint balls by flying, Sanguinius included," said Setsuna who grimaced at the idea of trying to fly past the drones. While she could split her body into many small pieces that could fly independently, which was how she had managed slip past the crowd to catch up with Khan, she was not confident that she could fly past the drones in the sky without getting targeted and attacked.

Khan smirked as she looked heavenward and said, "It certainly seems that way."

In the sky above the trenches, Sanguinius smiled as she dodged paint balls shot from a few hundred flying drones. While the tips of her feathered wings and hair had been stained by the paint balls, never mind the thin lines of paint that ran across her body and clothes, her radiant beauty somehow did not diminish at all.

As Sanguinius continued to dodge and weave through the volleys of paint balls with unerring speed and grace, she noticed that waves of vines, mushrooms and ice had started to appear on the "battleground" below. Well aware that Ibara, Kinoko and Shouto had arrived and taken action to take out the ratling guns, Sanguinius knew that it would not be long before the students could proceed to the next obstacle. Suddenly, Inasa appeared next to her by riding on a gale of wind and, while deflecting a whole volley of paint balls with a gust of wind, asked with a broad grin, "What took you so long?"

Sanguinius smiled in an almost sheepish manner as she replied, "Well, my wings needed space to stretch fully." She then turned her attention towards the drones and asked Inasa, "So, shall we?" No more words were needed as the two flyers proceeded to attack the drones like a force of nature.

"Oooh, it's a drone massacre down there!" said Hizashi.

Although the force fields blocked the incoming waves of vines, mushrooms and ice, the lines of sight that the Flameborn ratling gunners needed to keep shooting were blocked by them. In addition, there was simply no way their paint balls could pierce through the vines, mushrooms and ice. Despite losing the advantage provided by the ratling guns, the Flameborn were far from done as they took out what were essentially assault rifles, sniper rifles and shotguns that shot paint balls. They then stepped out of the safety provided by the force fields around the ratling guns to start shooting at the students with hit-and-run tactics.

Kirishima and Tetsutetsu, who had decided to do the "manly deed" of taking the hits, were rapidly becoming covered from head to toe with colourful splotches of paint. Their efforts were not in vain though as they not only managed to force their way through the Flameborn gunners' attacks but also managed to help their friends and classmates get past the first obstacle. They were also a valuable distraction for Corax to sneak around and disarm the Flameborn gunners by literally taking their paint-ball weapons away. The sight of short Flameborn gunners hopping around Corax like impatient children while she held their paint-ball guns above her head was a comically adorable sight to behold.

However, the contestants had to face one final unpleasant surprise at the first obstacle as 'Flameborn speedy wheel riders' appeared and tried to run them over. Luckily for the students, the speedy wheels used in the sports festival were modified to be lightweight with air-filled wheels that could not inflict any real damage. The modifications did not prevent Kirishima and Tetsutetsu, who presently resembled walking Jackson Pollock paintings, from having unpleasant flashbacks of getting comically flattened by them though. Nevertheless, all the students from the hero course were able to handle the incoming speedy wheels in spite of the fact that they were fast and, due to their lightweight design as oversized mouse wheels, could rapidly move over the deep but narrow trenches without slowing down.

Throughout the chaotic attempt to move past the first obstacle, the former primarchs who had not taken part in the support course lessons did not fail to notice that a certain support course class, Class 1H, was unusually successful in getting past the trenches with the help of self-made support equipment. Well aware that Dorn, Ferrus, Vulkan and, more recently, Perturabo, had attended the same lessons as Class 1H during support class lessons, they knew that the students from the said class, especially Hatsume Mei, could end up becoming a problem later on. Still, since it was a sports festival, none of the former primarchs saw the need to eliminate any of the "friendly competition" just yet. The elimination could wait until it was time to do so to win the other events.

Before long, the students faced another obstacle and Hizashi wasted no time to announce, "And here's the second obstacle, folks! The Bounce Tunnel!"

Danjuurou, who was wearing his "villain costume", bowed to the students with a gentlemanly smile and said, "Welcome to the Bounce Tunnel, honoured contestants. Let us see if you have the flexibility and skill required to get through this challenge." He then used his quirk to turn an entire section of the track, which was essentially a long polycarbonate tube with a cement floor, into an elastic passage before leaping off to grab hold onto the handhold of a passing drone that was large enough to carry him. He then saluted to the students while saying, "Adieu, and good luck!"

It should be noted that that Manami, who was one of the people responsible for capturing recordings of the sports festival, made sure that she got a good shot of Danjuurou's smile.

As Danjuurou left, Oboro explained, "All contestants are required to move through the tunnel so don't get cheeky and try to go around, over or under it."

Although Khan was concerned about the effects of Danjuurou's quirk on the tunnel, she decided to simply run into it while trusting in both her speed and her quick reflexes to get her through. She did not expect her first step into quirk-affected tunnel to nearly turn her into a comical human pinball that bounced around inside it before belly-flopping face-first onto the floor. As for how it happened, it involved her foot sinking knee-deep into the elastic cement floor before it pushed her off with a strong enough force to send her flying into the equally elastic polycarbonate roof.

Even a few of the other former primarchs winced at the sight of Khan lying face-down on the floor with her limbs twitching. As for the pro-heroes who had been defeated by Danjuurou in the past, they felt both sympathetic to Khan and relieved to know that Danjuurou's quirk was indeed difficult for most people to handle.

After witnessing Khan's undeniably failed attempt to get through the tunnel quickly, many students opted to take a slower but steadier pace to carefully traverse through it. This allowed many students who had struggled with the first obstacle to catch up with their peers. The fact that the inside of the tunnel had internal walls that blocked off between one to three quarters of the circular passage with random gaps for students to move through only made it more challenging as an obstacle.

Some, such as Pony, Ibara and Setsuna, used their respective quirks to travel through the highly elastic tunnel without getting too impeded. Others, such as Tsuyu and Minoru, were able to actually use the elastic nature of the tunnel to their advantage due to being skilled jumpers and, in Minoru's case, being lighter than the average person. Ironically, people whose body weight were heavier than normal, including most of the former primarchs, had an unfortunate tendency to sink into the floor which made walking through the tunnel a challenge to say the least.

In spite of the challenging nature of the Bounce Tunnel, the students of Classes 1A, 1B, 1H and V were somehow able to get to the other side. Russ, who was panting like an exhausted dog, groused, "By the Emperor's Boundless Bowels, that was a pain and a half in the arse!"

"If I ever have to go through that again, it'll be too soon!" grumbled Angron.

"At least you didn't have to take the first step," muttered Khan who was still bitter about her comically failed attempt to get ahead of everyone else.

Izuku chuckled and said, "Well, at least we're able to get past this obstacle."

"Perhaps, but we still have at least one more obstacle to go through," said Vulkan.

When the contestants arrived at the third and final main obstacle, Hizashi announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the final obstacle, the 'Slime Pit!" As the name suggested, the final obstacle was essentially a massive slime pit which was at least ankle-deep.

"Please be assured that students will have a chance to clean themselves up and put on a fresh change of clothes after the first event," said Shouta.

Nearly every student shared the same thought, "Thank goodness for that!"

Sanguinius, who could not use her wings to fly in the previous obstacle, raised an eyebrow and said, "This obstacle seems a bit underwhelming." Given the previous two obstacles, she was certain that Nedzu would have something planned for the third obstacle to prevent her from winning the first event too easily.

Suddenly, a few dozen automated turrets that could shoot paint balls at a rate even higher than the ratling guns at the first obstacle appeared from the sides of the pit right up to the final entrance. The turrets were also protected by force fields. Dorn raised an eyebrow at the sight of the turrets and said, "So that's where those turrets have been placed."

Many students who overheard Sanguinius' previous statement glared at her while she sheepishly admitted, "I stand corrected."

"Does anyone want to bet that the turrets will shoot at anyone who tries to fly over the slime-covered path?" asked Minoru.

"Not it!" said many students, including Denki and Hanta.

Kousei had an idea and breathed a platform of solid air so that he could walk over it and avoid the slimy pit below. However, less than ten seconds later, the turrets suddenly aimed at him and pelted him with volleys of paint balls until he fell into the pit. Once he was in the pit, the turrets stopped firing.

"Oof! Contestant Tsuburaba Kousei had a bright idea but, unfortunately, the turrets have been set to shoot down anyone who's not in the pit for more than five seconds," announced Oboro.

"So, unless you don't mind getting pelted by paint balls, again, you'll have to step into the pit," said Shouta.

"Do watch your step though! The slime is not the only thing you have to worry about in the Slime Pit!" said Hizashi.

Mina grinned as she leapt into the pit and said, "See you later, everyone! I'm sliding my way to victory!" As she was used to sliding on slippery surfaces due to her acid-secreting quirk, Mina was actually able to move pretty far by mixing her own acid into the slime before a hidden spring-board suddenly launched her into the air while she cried in comical dismay, "Nooo!"

Hitoshi wore a deadpan expression as he watched Mina fall into the slime and said, "So much for sliding your way to victory."

Shouto could, in theory, freeze the slime and disable both the turrets and the hidden traps with his ice. However, doing so would allow the other contestants to move ahead with ease and he knew that he would not be able to catch up with someone as quick as Sanguinius or Khan in terms of speed. As such, he had no choice but to carefully move his way through the slime while avoiding the hidden traps.

Ibara, whose vines allowed her to move swiftly through the slime and disable any traps that got in her way, was soon able to get ahead of almost everyone else. However, Corax, ultimately got first place in the first event as her ability to turn her body into a wraith-like shadow form allowed her to get through the various obstacles with less difficulty than even the other former primarchs. As for how she avoided getting shot by the turrets, she resorted to rapidly shifting between her two forms every four seconds. While the process was taxing, the resulting lead in the race made it a worthwhile effort.

It should be noted that Tsuyu did very well in the slime pit as well as her frog-like physiology allowed her to adapt to the slime pit with ease.

"And so ends the first event of the first years' sports festival!" announced Hizashi as the 80thstudent finally got past the finish line.

"We will now take a one-hour break so that the students can clean themselves and get changed into new gym uniforms," said Shouta.

"Please allow the eighty contestants to get cleaned first though as they will be taking part in the next event," said Oboro.

No one blamed the first year students for wanting to clean themselves as soon as possible. While the paint balls and the slime were thankfully water-based, it did not change the fact that basically no one wanted to know how uncomfortable it would be to spend a day with dried paint and slime clinging onto one's hair, skin and clothes.

To save time, each student was given a damp towel to clean himself or herself. A proper shower or bath would have to wait until after the sports festival was over.

-One hour later…-

"I hope that you are all feeling better after cleaning yourselves, because this next event is going to be a challenge!" announced Nemuri. The screen behind her then revealed the name of the second event: 'TEAM BATTLE!'

"As the name suggests, this will be a battle between two teams!" said Nemuri who then added, "However, unlike previous years, this will be a team match between the students of the hero course, certain members of Class V included, with everyone else!"

Many spectators were surprised by the announcement. Never mind the general assumption that students in the hero course would likely have an advantage in combat due to their training, there was simply no denying that the hero course team would outnumber the other team.

Before anyone could voice their opinions and objections though, Shouta intervened, "Before anyone says that this arrangement is unfair, please note that Nedzu himself has approved of the arrangement and all will be made clear once the event starts." He then sighed and softly grumbled, "I'm SO not paid enough for this…!"

While many of the spectators had their doubts, they decided to wait and see what would happen next.

In short order, the students of Classes 1A and 1B, along with Angron, Russ, Lion, Sanguinius, Corax, Curze, Icarian, Jaghatai, Mortarion, Izuku and Karutoko, formed the "Hero Team". As for the "Opposing Team", it was mostly composed of students from Class 1H, Mei included, as well as other students such as Nekona, Vulkan, Dorn, Ferrus, Perturabo, Guilliman, Magnus, Fulgrim, Gwalchavad, Alpahrius and Omegon.

Once the two teams were placed on separate sides of what would soon become a battlefield, the floors and walls on the opposing team suddenly shifted to reveal what could only be described as a veritable armoury of power armour suits and mechanical walkers of different designs. The former primarchs in the Hero Team could not help but be reminded of their original universe as the various designs reminded them of Imperial space marine power armour, Imperial dreadnoughts, T'au battle suits and even an "Orky killa kan".

Lion noticed that the former primarchs in the opposing team and even Nekona wielded what seemed to be exceptionally bulky yet ornate weapons of war. Her eyes narrowed as she stated, "It seems that the opposing team is going to be even more troublesome than expected."

"It seems so," agreed Mortarion as she was certain that the unusual bulkiness of the weapons were not for show.

Vulkan smiled as she raised her massive and ornate one-handed war-club into the air and roared, "Into the fires of battle! Unto the anvil of war!" Parts of the ornate "club" then transformed into Vulkan's armour which was green with a silver "dragon's skull" on the right shoulder pauldron. With most of its mass turned into sturdy armour, the "war-club" was "reduced" into a war-hammer which was somehow no less intimidating as a weapon. The other former primarchs, as well as Nekona, then activated their own weapons, transforming parts of the said weapons into armour.

The ornate and oversized sheathe of Dorn's single-edged sword became her golden armour while the sheathe of Guilliman's double-edged sword became her ultramarine-blue armour. Perturabo's massive four-barrelled gun transformed into grey armour with a double-barrelled arm canon on each arm while Ferrus' own massive double-barrelled shotgun transformed into dark-grey armour which left her metallic arms bare and had a pair of mechanical arms on her back which were each equipped with a single-barrelled gun. Similar to Dorn and Guilliman, Fulgrim wielded a sword which had a single-edged blade and an over-sized sheath which transformed into her purple armour that, for some reason, was more form-fitting and had heels. Both Alpharius and Omegon wielded spears with over-sized sheaths that transformed into identical blue armour with scaly patterns. Magnus also wielded a spear of her own which had an over-sized sheath that transformed into red armour which had a distinctively Egyptian motif. Gwalchavad wielded a pair of massive tonfas which transformed into her bronze armour with a pair of elbow-blades.

Nekona smiled as she spun around like a "magical girl" and grew to her "meowscular form" while the absurdly large head of her two-handed war-hammer transformed into her pink armour which, as a personal request from her, had a pink skirt, pink ribbons and white frills that would not look out of place on a maid. Once her "transformation" was done, she was easily as tall as the other former primarchs and her two-handed warhammer was "reduced" to a long "magic staff" which functioned more like a two-handed morning star.

While some of the former primarchs grimaced at the sight of Nekona essentially wearing "primitive Astartes armour" with bright pink colours, a skirt, ribbons and white frills, Fulgrim actually approved of Nekona's choice of armour design and said, "Looking good, Nekona!"

"Thanks, nya!" replied Nekona.

Once the Opposing Team was fully geared up for battle, it was clear that the upcoming battle between the two teams would be a lot more even than initially expected. Mei, who was riding in her version of a killa kan, grinned broadly and said, "All right, ya gits, time to show the world how awesome our babies are by krumpin' the other team flat! WAAAGH!"

-In the primarchs' original universe, again-

"WAAAGH!"

When the loyal people of the Imperium heard the Orks roar in solidarity with Hatsume Mei, a few of them slapped their hands onto their own faces for essentially underestimating just how much the Orks liked the "Orky humie".

Disturbing connection between Mei and the Orks aside, the sports festival was more entertaining for even the Orks than expected. Admittedly, at least some of the entertainment came from the comical mishaps that the former primarchs experienced such as Khan's failed attempt to get ahead during the "Bounce Tunnel" obstacle. Another comical mishap was Sanguinius almost getting stuck while trying to squeeze through a relatively small hole inside the Bounce Tunnel.

The Raven Guard space marines were understandably smug about the fact that their reincarnated primarch had won the first place in the first event.

Not unlike the humans on the alternate version of Holy Terra, quite a bit of gambling took place during the first event. Also, just as the sports festival was far from over, the placement of bets among loyal imperial citizens and even certain xenos races was far from over as well.

Author's Notes:

As I have said before, I may end the story shortly after the conclusion of the sports festival arc. That being said, I will certainly do what I can to cover all the important plot points before the story ends.

Until next time, go beyond, plus ultra!
