Owl House Season 2 Episode 4 – Keeping Up A-fear-ances
Here we go! Luke meets Eda and Lilith's mother, whose actions cause the Clawthorne sisters to struggle in Keeping up A-fear-ances against their curse.
Eda's Memory scene is pretty much the same so I'm skipping to the intro
Owl House Season 2A Intro
The eye of the old portal door opens, engulfed in flames.
Luke drops down with Rebellion and a Glyph Gun, giving his gun a spin and swung his sword as it opens, releasing electricity while he grins.
Eda slides in from her right, spinning her Owl Staff and swinging to release energy. King pops up from her.
Willow emerges and lifts her arms as her eyes glow, summoning huge vines behind.
Gus comes in with a book, summoning two illusions of himself striking poses besides him.
Amity twirls in from her right and with a grin her hands glow with purple energy, summoning Abomination goo.
Lilith slides in from the left, spinning her Raven Staff and swinging to release energy like Eda did. Hooty pops out from her clock backpack.
The Golden Guard flash steps from the left with his Artificial staff which glows with energy. It disappears for him to draw and swing Yamato, striking a pose and releasing a blade of energy.
A Boiling Isle mural appears, three windows flipping to briefly reveal Qrow, Darius and Eberwolf. The windows flip to reveal Qrow in his Devil Form, Darius in his Abomination form and Eberwolf in his Beast form.
Belos appears striking a powerful pose, his castle behind him as lightning strikes
Luke rode on Eda's staff like a surfboard, zooming past Bonesborough, flying past Tinella Nosa, sharing a high-five with Gus, Willow being beside him with a plant releasing vines and evading guards that chase him down. Eda and King join in on the fun and they have blast taking to the skies…until they hang on for dear life as a massive monstrous worm-like monster, mouth wide open, lunges at them as they scream in horror.
Then the scene changes back to the Owl House, where it's night-time, and stars twinkle in the sky as the trio are on the roof and looking up into the sky, Eda holding her staff beside her, Luke holding Rebellion downward and King riding his shoulder. Luke opens a hand, sending a ball of light floating into the sky where it bursts to release a blinding flash.
The title card appears:
Owl House: Son of Sparda
Back at the Owl House in the present. An alarm clock is screaming. Eda grabs it and throws it at the wall, destroying it. She gets out from her nest, goes up to her mirror, and screws in her fake gold fang. After that, she shaves feathers off her leg. She then opens a cupboard stocked up with elixirs. She takes one out, drinks it and expresses her disgust.
She puts on an entirely new outfit, a longer three-toned maroon dress with mid-length sleeves with light gray leggings with dark gray boots. She rips off the front part, completing her new look.
Eda: Ah, there we go. Mama like.
At the kitchen, Luke sleeps with his head atop a pile of books while snoring.
Eda: Beans!
Luke jolts up, cries out and falls backwards.
Eda: We ran out of apple blood.
Eda kicks the fridge door close and turns around just as Luke got up, rubbing his head.
Luke: Oh. Hey teach. Nice new getup.
Eda: Thanks kid. Any luck with your research?
Luke: Luke gives a frustrated frown. None. And I was up all night. I read every tome, book, notepad, and even tea leaf. He shows Eda a cup, with the tea leaf forming into a shrugging person. But nothing explains how to make a portal to the Human Realm. This stuff is all useless! There's not a single thing about who made the old portal door.
Eda: I wish I could help ya, kid. My door was already pretty old when I found it.
Luke: How long did you have it?
Eda: Well...
From somewhere, Lilith starts screaming. Both Eda and Luke gasp, rushing into the den, seeing Lilith on the floor. Her hands and face were covered in feathers as the curse was acting up with her.
Lilith: Help…me!
Luke: Oh man! Her curse is acting up!
Eda rushes over and takes out a bottle of elixir from beneath a pillow on the couch. She then runs towards Lilith.
Eda: Calm down, just calm down. She feeds Lilith the elixir just as Luke runs over. The curse acts stronger when you're stressed.
Lilith's feathers disappear as a result, and she pants heavily.
Lilith: That was... horrible. How have you managed all these years?
Eda: Well, it's been hard. Eda helps Lilith up. But since we split the curse, at least the elixirs are working again.
Lilith: That's a relief.
Lilith notices her left hand has popped off, causing her to yelp in terror and Luke cries out in shock.
Luke: Ay Caramba! Luke looks downs to see Lilith's hand, picking it up for her. Okay, that scared me a little. Here, need a hand? Lilith and Eda deadpan. Ha! Get it? "Need a hand?" Because your hand is…
Lilith: I get it. It's too early for this.
Luke: Oh, c'mon. You know I'm hilarious.
Eda: You're really not. Eda takes Lilith's hand, turning to her sister. Sorry. Side effect of the curse. It's actually fun once in a while. She sets the hand back in place. Now don't worry. I've stashed elixirs all over the house. Eda reveals hidden elixirs under the couch seat, behind a flowerpot and walks over to Luke. Whenever you start feeling feathery, just help yourself to one of these bad boys.
Luke is taken aback when Eda pulls an elixir out of his hood.
Luke: What the-!? When did you stash an elixir in my hood!?
Eda: I have my ways.
Luke: Fair enough. Luke slyly smiles. But why not just use the ones I hid in your hair?
Eda: Ha! You expect me to believe you've been hiding elixirs in my-
Luke interrupted her by just taking an elixir, a bag of Hex Mix and a can of Pepsi, gleefully presenting it as King laughs at the blank look on Eda's face which turns into a look of bemusement.
Eda: Seriously? Not only my elixirs, but you've been hiding snacks in there without me knowing? How?
Luke: Well, for starters, you're not the only one who has their ways. And as it stands, you could play a game of needle in the haystack in there.
Eda: Funny. But more importantly, how long have you been hiding things in there?
Luke: Oh, not long. About a season, at least.
He winks to the viewers and Eda and Lilith look to see what he was winking at.
Lilith: Care to elaborate on that, and explain why you just winked at absolutely nothing?
Luke: I could, but it'd be a bit complicated to explain. It would blow your minds and flip your whole entire world upside down.
Eda walks up to her older sister as she looks down in guilt, understanding the extent of the suffering her actions had put Eda through.
Lilith: I had no idea this is what I did to you. I am so, so sorry.
Eda: Eda just smiles and hands Lilith a bottle. Eh, at least I got company now. And you got me if you need anything.
Eda pats on Lilith's shoulder and walks out. Lilith then lies down on the couch and notices a few bottles of elixirs taped to the ceiling, causing her to smile, relieved and touched to know her little sister still has her back.
Outside, Luke walks up to Eda.
Eda: As I was saying, I've had the portal door for years. But I originally just found it in the dirt. Never figured out who made it or where it came from. I just kept it to myself.
Luke: How come you never told anyone?
Eda: Why? Suddenly curious about my past?
Luke: Luke deadpans. Eda. I'm always curious about your past. I've even tried to read your diary a couple times just to find out about it. Also, you're an old lady with a diary?
Eda: Eda returns the deadpan. 1. I'm not that old. 2. Yes, I have a diary and it's none of your business. 3. I didn't hear that. And to answer your first question, well… I may have been using it to hide from someone.
Luke: Who were you hiding from? Oh, wait, stupid question. It was the cops, obviously.
Eda: Good guess, but no.
Luke: Luke is surprised. Uh…former boyfriends? Girlfriends?
Eda: Nope.
Luke: Someone you stole from?
Eda: Not even close. She frowns in contempt over one of her memories. I was running from someone worse.
Luke: Who could possibly be worse than any of the things I just mentioned?
Woman: Probably me!
A sudden strong gust of wind starts blowing, forcing Eda and Luke to shut their eyes and shield their faces. A hawk swoops in with the tornado.
Luke: A talking tornado!?
The tornado stops, and an elderly woman in a purple dress with a long shepherd's hook staff with a massive bird on top lands in front of them. It's Eda and Lilith's mother, Gwendolyn Clawthorne.
The bird lands back on her staff, turning into a palisman.
Gwendolyn: Hello, little witchlet. Come here!
She ran over for a hug, but a displeased Eda held her back with a hand to the head while Luke had his hands in his pockets.
Eda: Gwendolyn.
Gwendolyn stops and laughs it off, giving Eda a smile.
Gwendolyn: Are we still on that? I'm your mother. Call me "Mom".
Lilith bursts out of the window to exclaim in shock with Luke.
Luke & Lilith: MOM!?
Luke: She's your mom!? Your mom is alive!? I can't believe YOU'RE STILL ALIVE!
Eda: Hey, I just said I'm not that old! My hair's only gray because of my curse!
Gwendolyn: It is so good to see you again. She squeezes Eda's face with both hands. How are you feeling? Are you eating well? I heard all about the Petrification Ceremony. Trust me, I have a lot of strong words for that Belos.
Lilith: Lilith jumps onto Eda's back and then stands in front of her. Mother! Mother, you know, I was there too.
Gwendolyn: Oh, hello to you too, sweet flea. She touches Lilith's hair. Still dyeing your hair, I see. Well, it's very sleek. Now give me a moment with Edalyn, dear. It's important.
A disheartened Lilith backs off, letting her negligent mother speak with an annoyed Eda while Luke just listens.
Gwendolyn: That's right! Today, I am about to complete a 30-year mission.
Eda: Oh, no.
Gwendolyn: Your mother has finally succeeded.
Eda: She pinches her eyebrows. Here it comes.
Gwendolyn spins her staff and jabs it on the ground.
Gwendolyn: Today, I shall be curing your curse!
Eda: No, thanks.
Luke & Lilith: What?!
Eda: I said, "No, thanks." I got my elixir system. I'm good.
Gwendolyn: But… but who knows what they put in those nasty concoctions?
Eda: Actually, I do. And would you look at the time? Eda makes Gwendolyn sit on her staff. I got a lot to do today. So sad to see you go. Okay, bye-eeeee!
Eda slaps on Gwendolyn's staff and sends her flying away. Eda dusts off her hands in satisfaction.
Eda: Moms. Am I right?
Luke and Lilith eyes were shrunk, and they had their jaws wide open in disbelief at what they just witnessed.
Lilith: A frustrated Lilith walks up. I haven't seen Mother in forever! And she was handing you a cure on a silver platter!
Luke: Luke ran up. Eda! Are you serious!? I'd literally kill someone right now just to see my mom and you just kicked out yours out like she meant nothing to you?!
Eda: Oh, listen, she comes around every year, toting a new cure for my curse. She starts walking into the house. But they never work, so I am done getting my hopes up.
Lilith: Mother visits Edalyn... regularly?
Lilith follows, filled with sadness and disbelief over the fact her mother never visited her but visits Eda once a year.
Luke looks to his left, watching in sympathy to see Gwen land before walking away looking crestfallen over her daughter's rejection.
Luke: Mrs. Clawthorne! Wait! Gwen turns to see Luke run up. I'm Luke. Eda's apprentice. Hero of the Coformatorium raid. You've probably heard of me. I think it's way past cool you're set on helping your daughter. Sorry about Eda brushing you off. She can just be so… Eda sometimes.
Gwen: Gwen smiles. Call me Gwen, dear. But please don't blame Edalyn. It was the curse that created the rift between us.
Luke: Yeah, I feel you. Right now, there's an actual rift between me and my mom in the Human Realm.
Gwen: Human Realm? Hmm. Gwen thinks and smiles, an idea coming to mind. My boy! I may know how to fix both our rifts.
Luke: Luke gasps in excitement. Really?
Gwen: I've heard some information that may assist you on your quest. Help me cure Eda's curse and that information is yours.
Luke: Exhilarated, Luke throws up his fists. Woo-hoo! Classic Clawthorne dealing saves the day! Where do we start? I'm hungry for adventure!
Gwen: Gwen chuckles a little. I like your spirit! We'll be consulting someone...very special.
She clutches her necklace, the rune on it glowing green.
Sometime later, Luke and Gwen are walking through the forest. Since Gwen has her staff out, Luke has Rebellion (closed) held by his side.
Luke: So, we're gonna meet some curse expert? That is so rad!
Gwen: Yes, after years of dealing with the Healing Coven, I finally found someone who promised me a cure. She stops. Ah! Here we are.
Gwen and Luke are standing in front of a stone door. Gwen walks up to it and displays her necklace. The door flashes with the same rune glowing on it and opens up, revealing a cave. Gwen and Luke walk into the cave.
Inside, an old witch with four hands is sitting on an altar covered with steps, crystals, candles, tree roots, and a waterfall behind him. A gremlin with boils on his eyelids kneels in front of him.
Gremlin: Please! They're so itchy.
The old witch waves his hand, making a spell circle, which then caused the gremlin to float in the air as boils disappeared from his face. Gwen and Luke gasps at the sight of this. The gremlin is then put down on the ground.
Gremlin: Boils, they're... they're gone! Thank you, Wortlop! Thank you!
The gremlin runs away crying happily. Luke keeps a straight face while Gwen continues smiling proudly.
Gwen: That's Master Wortlop. He's a traveling curse expert who's perfected next-level healing magic. Wortlop gestures Gwen to come over. Ooh!
Gwen pushes Luke aside and passes her staff to him. She walks up to Wortlop and kneels in front of him.
Wortlop: Gwendolyn, my pupil. Your aura is shining bright.
Gwen: It took many months, but I was able to gather the sacred items you requested. She takes out a copper-coloured egg. The copper egg from the Snowy Rib Cage. She takes out a dagger. The silver dagger from the Swampy Toes. She takes out a gold chalice with a multiple eye design. And the golden chalice from the desert of Palm Stings.
One by one she lays them down and Wortlop strokes his beard, impressed.
Wortlop: You're a dedicated mother, aren't you? Wortlop summons a tome out of thin air. Inside this tome is the healing ability you seek. He passes it over to Gwen. But keep it away from the eyes of non-believers, for many will be blinded by the power it holds.
Gwen looks at the tome in awe as it glows.
Gwen: I understand. She stood and bows to Wortlop. I am in your debt, Master Wortlop.
Gwen turns around and walks away with Luke who stopped, staring at Wortlop suspiciously as he rubs his chin.
Luke: That was pretty amazing…TOO amazing for my taste.
What he just witnessed…it was perfect…far TOO perfect. Living with Eda and his own experiences in the human world has taught him to be suspicious of a scam when there's likely one going on.
He runs off to catch up with Gwen.
Outside the Owl House, Gwen drives a sign into the ground while Luke writes "APPLE BLOOD" and draws an arrow pointing away from the house all in red paint. While Luke is still a little suspicious of Wortlop he's going along with this scheme to see how everything plays out and get to the bottom of Gwen's "cures". King looks at them from inside the house through a window.
King: Isn't it amazing, Francois? If Eda's mom can just pop up, who says my dad can't?
Luke follows Gwen deeper into the forest and King stretches his arms.
King: Better get my hugging arms ready.
Lilith: Ha!
King opens his eyes and stares at Lilith. She is lazily lying on the couch drowning her sorrows in ice cream, upset over the fact her mother takes time to visit Eda but not her.
Lilith: Yeah, good luck with all that dad stuff. Sometimes it doesn't matter how dutiful you are or successful you are, parents just won't give you the time of day.
King: Don't listen to her, Francois. My dad won't be like that.
Lilith: Lilith merely sneers. Right. Your mysterious father, who didn't even stick around to watch you hatch.
King stares at Lilith, devastated and she's too hurt and dejected to notice or care.
Lilith: Looks like you and I are in the same boat, King.
King whimpers and clutches Francois closer to himself, believing Lilith may be right. If his father truly cared for him, why did he leave him?
In the forest, Luke and Gwen have finished laying traps and signs for Eda, part of Gwen's plan to cure her. Luke finishes tying up a rope just as Gwen's hawk palisman, carries his owner over and puts her on a stone.
Gwen: Nice work, Luke. With Wortlop's tome and your ability to lure Eda out of the house, we'll be curing that curse in no time.
Luke: Yup. Considering how much Apple Blood she has, it might as well be her own blood. Luke stood up, leaning against a wall and crossing his arms. So, that Wortlop guy, mind telling me more about him? You're his student?
Gwen: Gwen looks up from her tome. Oh, yes. But first, I had to prove that I was worthy of his secrets. So, I spent the last year on a bunch of dangerous quests. And I didn't even get that many scars.
To show proof, Gwen flexed her right arm to show it was VERY muscular and covered with various scars much to Luke's amazement and disbelief.
Luke: Whoa! Way past cool! Damn lady, your bicep game is ridiculous.
Gwen: Why thank you, you know if you train hard, you might just become as ripped as me. Kids still use ripped, don't they?
Luke: Oh, totally.
Gwen: You know, you remind me so much of Sparda, Luke.
Luke: Luke widens his eyes. You knew Sparda?
Gwen: Of course. He and Qrow were very close to my daughters. The two were friends of the family. Oh, Sparda and Qrow were such sweet little boys. Though they both hid it by acting so tough and callous. They grew up to become a good men with big hearts, always looking out for others. And Sparda himself became a legend.
Luke: So, what else can you tell me about him?
Gwen: Well, you-
They're cut off when they hear someone step on a stick and causes leaves to rustle.
Gwen: Our signs must've worked!
She runs away together with Luke.
Eda has arrived, following the signs just as predicted, rubbing her hands in excitement as she held her staff.
Eda: Oh, baby, time to stock up on Mama's night juice.
Gwen and Luke overlook Eda from a tree branch high up.
Gwen: According to Wortlop's tome, we start by lowering the beast's defenses with special crystals. And they're supposed to be quite calming.
Suddenly, a sharp crystal dropped down and made Eda step back to dodge.
Eda: Whoa!
She spun her staff to shatter more crystals, then narrowly avoids another falling crystal. She stares oddly at the ground.
Eda: Knife season came early this year.
Looking up, Eda screamed before falling as a giant crystal crashed onto the ground. A cloud of dirt rose as Eda was on the ground, looking shocked from nearly dying before feathers sprang up from her body.
Luke: Oh, crap! She's stressed! Elixir time!
Luke takes out an elixir from his hood. He's about to throw it to Eda, but Gwen grabs his hand and stops him.
Gwen: Oh, no, no, no. The texts say those feathers mean we're driving the beast out.
Luke: Huh? Really? Are you sure? This looks like the opposite of calming right now.
Gwen: Gwen touches the bottle. Don't worry. After today, Eda will never have to drink those nasty little things again.
Luke: Luke is looking quite doubtful. Uh…okay, so what's next?
Gwen: Next, we're gonna put that beast on ice.
Gwen opened the satchel and released a small cloud with a humanoid face. It released a large gust of wind and ice.

Meanwhile, back at the Owl House, King and Lilith are both laid on the couch, having drowned their sorrows in ice cream over their respective parental circumstances. King vents over his father leaving him and Lilith vents over her mother's constant negligence, including over the biggest moments of her life and Hooty's voicing his concerns wasn't helping. Lilith declares she has no mother. When King urges her to say that to Gwen's face and tells her about Luke and Gwen curing Eda's curse; Lilith's jealousy and stress causes her curse to act up much to everyone's horror. Even worse is when she finds every single elixir in the house missing. With nothing keeping the beast at bay, Lilith undergoes a horrifying transformation much to King and Hooty's terror.
Back in the forest, Eda barely survives the death traps set up by Gwen which have made her curse act up more and more. Every time Luke attempts to throw Eda an elixir Gwen stops and assures him that this will all work, but Luke isn't convinced. Now he's sure there's something off about Wortlop and his so-called curse expertise.
Eda: This... better be... the oldest, strongest, stinkiest apple blood ever.
Eda sees a sign which says, "IT REALLY IS THAT GOOD!" and screams in frustration over her own weakness. She then begrudgingly keeps on walking, but accidentally slips on some gooey substance.
Eda: Ah! She groans after regaining balance. I just stole these.
Eda keeps on walking, but accidentally steps into a trap covered with leaves, which sends her flying upwards, screaming. Gwen is looking frustrated, and Luke has his mouth wide open in shock at what he's witnessing. These "treatments" aren't curing Eda, they're killing her.
Gwen: It seems like the curse isn't my daughter's only problem.
Eda screams and lands on a bush. Her Owl Staff flies to her, and she reaches up.
Eda: Help Mama up.
Luke: Gwen! None of this stuff's working! We tried freezing the curse out, we tried sweating the curse out, we even tried…flying snakes for some reason.
Down below, Eda is running away from two flying snakes, screaming as Luke and Gwen watch on.
Luke: I'm starting to think your "master" isn't who he says he is. Where did he even get this stuff?
Luke looks to Gwen speaking on a crow phone, most likely to Wortlop.
Gwen: Yes, I'm sending it right away.
She hangs up and the crow flies up. Luke squints his eyes in suspicion.
Luke: What did you just do?
Gwen: It turns out the ancient tome is only the first of a series. So, I'm trading in a few paltry family heirlooms to get the rest.
She gave the crow phone a sack of jewels before picking up the book. Luke gives a dubious look, now more suspicious than ever over Wortlop's so-called tome and how much Gwen is sacrificing, including precious family heirlooms.
Luke: You sold your family heirlooms? He stood up. Let me see that dumb book.
He walks towards Gwen, proceeding to take the book only for her to stop him.
Gwen: Halt. Only people who have scaled Wortlop's "Pyramid of Study" can touch the tome.
Luke simply uses his grapple claw from his Glyph Gun to yank the tome out of Gwen's hand.
Gwen: Hey!
Luke catches the book, dismisses his gun and flips the tome open, discovering the nonsense Gwen has been reading.
Luke: What the hell is this? Jar of bees for existential dread? Aromatherapy for broken legs? Bird songs for sufferers of stuffy noses?! It's official, Gwen has been scammed. Oh, for the love of God! I knew there was something off! Gwen, Wortlop is a fake! You're being SCAMMED! He's been conning you for who knows how long, and you've been blindly letting him.
Gwen: Outraged, Gwen takes back the tome. You really think I'd spend my life savings on a fake?
Luke: Are you blind!? Look at what your "remedies" are doing to Eda! They're making her curse flare up! You know what, screw this! I don't care if you know a way for me to get back to the Human Realm! I'm calling this off! He takes out elixir from his hood. You may want what's best for Eda, but so do I!
He walks off and kneels, preparing to toss the elixir until Gwen grabs his arm and takes the bottle away.
Gwen: Luke, I really thought we were on the same side. According to Wortlop, poison like this is made by healers and potion makers who simply want money.
To prove her point, Gwen opened the book to show two pages that slander potions/elixirs while saying you should only spend money on Wortlop's ''methods." Luke becomes even more furious with Gwen's stupidity and naivety.
Luke: ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? ARE YOU AN IDIOT OR WHAT!? HOW ARE YOU-!? He pinches his eyebrows. You know what, I don't care. I'll just get more at the house.
Gwen: I'm afraid that will be a waste of your time.
Hawksley flies in dropping a sack of elixirs in front of Gwen much to Luke's horror and shock.
Gwen: Hawksley cleared out every bottle hours ago.
Luke stood up, enraged at this complete idiot of a mother.
Luke: YOU MORON! DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU'VE JUST DONE!? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?
Gwen: Because I am a mother who will do anything for her daughter.
Gwen tries to throw a bottle of elixir away, but Luke tackles her, and they both fall off the branch along with the elixirs. Meanwhile, Eda got up throwing away a flying snake stuck in her hair and notices the feathers on her arms.
Eda: Woo, this ain't good.
Behind Eda, both Luke and Gwen scream as they fall from above. They land behind a bush while the elixirs shatters when the bag hits the ground, which grabs Eda's attention. They both grimace in pain, with Gwen rubbing her forehead. Eda looks to them both them.
Eda: Hey! What is going on here?
Luke and Gwen got up, the latter putting a hand on the worried boy's shoulder.
Gwen: Witchlet, it's okay. Luke and I are working to heal you.
Luke: I was not part of this. I was trying to stop her.
Eda is outraged, annoyed to hear all those traps that almost killed her were all part of her mother's attempts to "cure" her.
Eda: What?! This was all you?! You weren't healing me. You nearly killed me!
As Eda speaks, more feathers start popping out from her body, her curse getting worse much to Luke's concern.
Luke: Eda, just calm down. Your curse is acting up.
Unfortunately, her mother's actions have caused Eda to reach her limit.
Eda: Why? Why should I be calm? I have a right to be UPSET!
Eda's eyes turn fully black and her voice distorts on the last word. She transforms into her Owl Beast form in front of Luke and Gwen much to their horror.
Eda finds herself lying on her side in the dark void of her mind. The Owl Beast steps in front of her, rumbling the ground. Eda opens her eyes and notices the large Owl Beast standing in front of her and got up, knowing she's transformed again in reality.
Eda: Ooh, let's get this over with.
Eda makes a run for it and the Owl Beast pursues her.
Back in reality, Eda in her Owl Beast form is closing in on Luke and Gwen while growling.
Luke: Nice work grandma. Anything else?
A desperate Gwen summons Wortlop's tome and opens the book.
Gwen: Don't worry. According to this, we just have to... Uh...
Luke: Luke's annoyed with the hesitance. Have to what?
Gwen: She sheepishly turns around to show Luke the tome. Buy the next volume...?
The sight of Wortlop's lying face enrages Luke.
Luke: Give me that stupid thing! He snatches the book. This tome is the real poison!
Luke smacks a Fire Glyph on it and throws the tome onto the ground. It's incinerated in a pillar of flames, and he stomps on the ashes. Eda roars and takes a step closer towards Luke and Gwen. Behind them, King screams and runs out from a bush. He notices Owl Beast Eda and cries out in shock.
Luke: King?! What are you doing here!?
King: So, Lilith was feeling stressed and, uh…the Light Glyph didn't really work. So, uh... uh... uh...
A large shadow flies past them from above, giving a vicious roar. They all look up and gasp in horror. The monstrous figure lands to reveal itself as Lilith, not as an Owl Beats but a Raven Beast. She's twice as big as the Owl Beast with a pitch-black body, black hair, a longer neck, her ears having small ridges with no hair growing out from them, and two humongous gray wings on her back. Just like her younger sister, her eyes are pitch black. The Raven Beast stands face to face with the Owl Beast
Everyone is horrified. King hugs Luke's leg. Gwen is especially shocked to see this beast is actually her firstborn daughter.
Luke: Oh no! Oh crap!
King: She turned into that thing!
Gwen: Sweet flea?
Eda and Lilith both release viciously loud roars and rush each other. Lilith then snatches Eda and flies off with her, while Luke, King and Gwen look on in total disbelief. Luke quickly picks up Eda's staff while King glares at Gwen who's in shock.
Gwen: That...was my little sweet flea? That means she's also...
King: Cursed! Yes! Were you not paying any attention to her at all!? She's been complaining about how you completely ignore her all the time and that you favour Eda over her!
Gwen: What!? Bu-but that's not true! I love both my daughters equally! I'd never pick favourites!
King: Considering how you pay Eda regular visits, but never Lilith and the fact you were never there to celebrate her achievements, I'm finding that very hard to believe right now.
Gwen is taken aback in shock, slowly realizing how negligent she's been towards Lilith while in her pursuit to cure Eda of her curse.
Gwen: No! But…but I-I-
Luke: Look, we can solve this family drama later! We gotta get to Eda and Lilith now before they kill themselves! Are you gonna help me or what, old lady?
Gwen: This... This must be part of the process, right?
Luke furrows his eyebrows in anger, even now Gwen stubbornly clings onto Wortlop's lies. Deciding there's no point wasting time with this worthless excuse of a mother, he decides to transform. Luke crosses his arms as he clutches Eda's staff, then spreads his arms which turn devil and the whites in his eyes turn black. Gwen gasps and watches as Luke transforms via a burst of blue electricity into his Devil Form. He lifts his head up, revealing his face before spreading his body and wings, releasing a vicious roar.
Gwen: Sweet mother of Titans! Y-you're a devil!
Luke gives Gwen a furious glare as King jumps onto his shoulder.
Luke: You…are officially the WORST and MOST USELESS MOM I HAVE EVER MET! If you wanna continue being scammed, fine! Don't bother showing your face in front of me until you finally do what's actually best for your daughter! Right now, Eda needs us! Let's fly King!
Luke takes flight into the air and King holds onto him. Gwen looks at Luke flying away with a hesitant expression while clutching her necklace. She then turns around and flies towards the other direction on her staff, desperately clinging onto the last of her beliefs.
Gwen: Wortlop... he's not a fake, is he? After everything I did for him.
She lands in front of the cave door, which is not fully closed, leaving a gap for Gwen to peep inside. She sees something that causes her to gasp in disbelief, finally realizing Luke was right all along. She's been scammed!

Wortlop was just a disguise being played by 3 Gremlins and the gremlin who had boils in his eyes earlier was part of it, his boils were fake in order to give more detail to this con. These 4 little swindlers have been taking advantage of Eda's curse and Gwen's desperation for years, making the rift worse between them and bankrupting Gwen. Enraged over these midgets taking advantage of her and her own stupidity, Gwen gives the Gremlins the scare of a lifetime, controlling firebees with her Beast-Keeping magic to create a hellishly intimidating expression. The Gremlins make a pathetic attempt to continue with their Wortlop act, but this time Gwen isn't fooled as she finally realizes what she's been doing to her daughters and her refusal to accept Eda's curse. She creates hellish flames all around her, angrily warning the Gremlins if they ever come back she'll have every beast hunt them down. And with that they scream and fled in fear.
Gwen: Gwen chuckles and brushes her hair. Still got it.
Meanwhile in Bonesborough, Owl Beast Eda and Raven Beast Lilith both flew in as Eda tries to escape Lilith, but she keeps on pursuing her. Lilith manages to catch Eda and pins her to the ground, damaging some buildings in the process and causing people to flee in terror. Eda kicks Lilith off her and flies away. Lilith growls and pursues Eda again. They continue fighting each other in air and eventually both crash to the ground.
Luke flew past just in time to see this as King rode on him.
Luke: At this rate, Eda and Lilith are gonna tear apart the entire town! King find someplace safe! I'll hold them off!
King: Right!
The Owl Beast and Raven Beast roar and rush each other but just as they were about to butt heads, Luke drops down in between and holds them both back by their faces. With a heavy grunt he pushes them both off. Eda and Lilith land on their feet and roar at the human devil as he gets out his guns and aims at both of them.
Luke: Eda! Lilith! You've gotta fight the curse! Don't let it do this to you!
The sisters roar and charge Luke. He took flight into the air and lands on the roof of a house, dodging the sisters. He aims the Owl Staff and fires beams of gold energy.
Eda gets blasted by the beam, but it misses Lilith who snarls and flies towards Luke. Devil Luke quickly flew into the air with Lilith taking off after him and Eda quickly follows. Both beasts roar as they pursue Luke who sends out shots of gold lightning from the Owl Staff, but Eda and Lilith dodge them all. He switches to his Glyph Guns which flare up with electric energy as he fires an electric bullet barrage. Eda dodges, but Lilith gets hit and roars in pain as she got electrocuted and fell. Eda proceeds to slice Luke with her claws but he flips above and fires ice and flame bullets that Eda dodges by circling around in the air.
Luke: Sorry about this teach!
Luke flew towards Eda and delivers a punch to her face, causing her to roar in pain as she flew back. Eda snarls in anger and slashes Luke with her claws, but he quickly grabs her wrists and tries to hold her back.
On the ground, Lilith got up and shook her head before roaring in anger and taking off after Luke in vengeance. Luke turns his head when he hears the roar to see Lilith coming after him. He quickly kicks off of Eda and dives down, barely dodging Lilith. He lands on the ground summoning Rebellion just as Lilith lands in front of him. He rushes into slash Lilith, but she barely catches his sword. Luke holds Lilith back with his blade, gritting his teeth at how strong Raven Beast Lilith is. Eda then comes in behind to smack Luke and sends him crashing through a couple houses, causing dust clouds to erupt from multiple places.
Luke crashed into a market booth and King quickly ran up to him, shaking his arm.
King: Luke! Are you okay!?
Luke lifts himself up, spitting out a chunk of wood from his mouth as he rubs the back of his head.
Luke: I'm cool little buddy. But nothing fazes these two. Look at them!
Eda and Lilith duke it out again, fighting in the air as they attempt to overpower one another. Luke and King watch in grave concern.
King: What do we do!? You can't handle them both at once like this!
Luke: We need more elixirs!
Luke grabs King and flies again, this time not towards the crazed Clawthorne Sisters.
Morton is at his booth as usual, looking dejected to see no has brought anything from his shop.
Morton: No one's bought anything in a while. I should close up shop.
Luke: Morton!
Luke drops down right in front of Morton. He screams in terror.
Morton: Ahh! A monster!
Luke: Luke frantically waves his hands. No, no, no! It's me, Luke!
Morton: Morton double takes. Luke?
Luke: Yeah. Long story short, I can go devil at will now. Also, calling someone a "monster" is a bit rude, don't you think? I mean, it's just King.
King: Uh...I'm pretty sure he's... King noticed Luke's smirk. Ohhhhhh...! Ha! Even I have to admit, that was a good one, Luke!
The duo laugh a little before getting serious again.
Luke: But that's beside the point! We're in a crisis! I need every single elixir you have!
Morton gasps in sheer happiness, but Luke gets a little sheepish.
Luke: Slight problem. I don't have any cash with me right now. Do you take payment in advance?
Before Morton could answer, a woman's voice calls out to Luke.
Gwen: Don't worry!
Luke and King turn around in surprise. Gwen lands in front of them and spins her staff. She is carrying a large bag of snails which she presents to Luke.
Gwen: Mama's here.
Eda and Lilith take their fight atop a roof where Lilith catches up and pins down her sister. They wrestle each other for dominance while Devil Luke, King and Gwen watch them from another roof across the crazed sisters. Luke flew up and lands next to Gwen, holding Eda's staff with King riding his shoulder.
Luke: You sure this is gonna work, old lady?
King: Yeah, are you like, secretly sending us to our deaths?
Gwen: No, I'm making things right.
Gwen pulls off her necklace, throws it down and crushes it with her foot which Luke grins at.
Luke: And now, I'm convinced.
Luke takes flight with King riding on him as Eda and Lilith screech. Gwen spun a large spell circle, making a few tiles from another house fly over. She used those to make her way over to them, feeling guilt-ridden over her actions towards Eda and negligence towards Lilith.
Gwen: My beautiful daughters, I failed you.
Eda turns towards Gwen. She snarls and walks towards her.
Gwen: Edalyn? You're in there, aren't you?
Eda growls at Gwen, but she puts her hand on Eda's hair anyway as she attempts to reach out to her youngest daughter.
Back in the shadowy void, Eda is still running away from the Owl Beast. She stops running when she hears her mother's voice.
Gwen: I should've listened to you. I know now why you pushed me away.
Eda: Mom!?
Gwen: I made you think your curse was something to be ashamed of.
Hearing Gwen's voice gives Eda to the courage to stare down the Owl Beast as it ran towards her.
Gwen: Whether we want it or not, it's a part of you. And I love every part of you.
Eda held out her hand and light flashes in between her hand and the beast, halting its assault. The Owl Beast screeches, gradually shrinking until it's reduced to a small, harmless size. It runs away tweeting.
Eda: Mom, I can hear you! She looks to the Owl Beast. And you...
Eda pounces on the Owl Beast and pins it down, putting it in a chokehold and it's unable to escape.
Eda: My turn to drive.
Back in reality as Beast Eda whimpers as Gwen shuts her eyes and leans her forehead against Eda's in regret.
Gwen: I'm so sorry.
Eda: Mom?
Gwen opens her eyes to find Eda staring back at her, her eyes revered to normal meaning she's in control.
Gwen: Witchlet!
Gwen hugs her youngest daughter in joy. Lilith pants in rage at the scene before roaring and attacking Gwen. Eda grabs Lilith's wrist and pins her down, allowing Gwen to kneel in front of Lilith's face, ashamed of neglecting her firstborn for almost all her life.
Gwen: And Lilith... Sweet Flea… You were always so mature and self-sufficient. Gwen caresses Lilith's cheek, calming her down. But I didn't give you the attention you deserved. I thought that you didn't need it because you could thrive so well on your own, but I was wrong. You deserved all of my attention for all the wonderous things you accomplished. Gwen begins to shed tears. You deserved to be treated equally to Edalyn and maybe if I was… no. I SHOULD have been a better mother, then neither of you would be suffering right now. The tears drip from her face. I'm so sorry, Sweet Flea.
Upon hearing her mother's apology and giving the attention she had been yearning for years, Raven Beast Lilith cries, whimpering and sobbing as Gwen embraces and caresses her.
Gwen: Ssh. Gwen looks up. NOW!
Luke and King flew in from above. King jumps down from Luke, pinning Eda and Lilith down by stepping on their ears, forcing their mouths open. Luke pulls out the bottle corks with his teeth and dumps the elixirs into Eda's and Lilith's mouth, causing their eyes to glow.
A cloud of air and light engulf the Clawthorne Sisters. The strong airflow forces Gwen to shield her face and blows King backwards. King almost rolls off the roof, but Luke lands just in time to catch him. Luke reverts to human form, holding the Owl Staff and King as the cloud expands and flashes brightly, then forms the shape of a huge bird. Eda and Lilith are pulled upward as they slowly revert to normal. The cloud eventually bursts and gives off a blinding flash.
Luke: Damn. That is some good elixir.
Gwen walks forward as Eda and Lilith held hands and gracefully descend, right into their mother's arms. She sits down with them in her arms and stares at her daughters lovingly. The sisters wake up, smiling gratefully.
Eda: About time, Mom.
Lilith: Lilith cries and sobs. Mom! I heard you, but I couldn't stop myself. I... I couldn't do anything.
Lilith continues crying as Gwen hugs her and then Eda, comforting both of them.
Gwen: It's okay. Everything is okay now. I'm here for you both.
Luke smiles gladly at the sight of this, while King comes to a realization.
Luke: Am I good at restoring family bonds or what? Family 1. Scammers 0.
King: She was...trying to do her best, huh?
Luke: Yeah. It's what moms do. I take back what I said to her earlier.
Gwen hugs her daughters tight and smiles lovingly as Luke and King watch them from aside.
The Gremlins are back in their hideout hurriedly stuffing their belongings into sacks along with the loot Gwen had left. They're in a state of panic after their frightening experience with Gwen and now trying to escape with what they have left.
Gremlin 1: Quick! Take everything you can, boys! We gotta get out of here before-!
They scream when their stone door explodes in flames. They huddle together and watch in terror as the figures of Luke, Eda, Lilith and Gwen walk out from the smoke, holding their respective staves and sword while King rides Eda's shoulder. They both give the gremlins frightening glares as they walk up and stood in front of them. The scammers quiver in fear of what's about to happen.
Eda: So, you like to take advantage of people's curses and family dramas, do you?
Gwen: Didn't I warn you little swindlers what would happen if you didn't leave.
Gremlin 2: Please, don't hurt us! We were just packing our stuff up!
Gwen: Along with some of my loot I see.
The Gremlins take out the rest of Gwen's snails and valuables in frantic panic.
Gremlin 3: Here! Here's your money back! Take all of it!
Gremlin 4: We won't do it again! We promise!
Lilith: Don't worry, we'll let you go. The Gremlins gasp happily. After we're finished scarring you for life.
The Gremlins whimper, clutching onto each other.
Eda: Anything you'd like to say before we give you possible PTSD?
The leader Gremlin shakily holds out a book.
Gremlin 1: Uh…would you like our last volume? 1%?
The 5 of them are unamused and unimpressed by this. The Clawthorne family share smirks before making their staves glow with energy. Luke smacks a fist into his hand as he laughs.
Luke: You little midgets are gonna get punched alive.
The intimidating shadows of Luke, Eda, Lilith and Gwen loom above the Gremlins as they cower, hugging each other in fear of the horrific beating they're about to receive.
It's night-time and Luke, King, Eda and Gwen are standing outside the Owl House after giving the Gremlins the most traumatic beating possible and scarring them for life as promised.
Gwen: I'm sorry for all the trouble I caused, but I-I just wanted to help. I should've trusted you more.
Eda: Yeah, you should've. Eda jokingly punches her mom. But, hey, don't be a stranger. Okay, Mom?
Gwen smiles at Eda, happy to hear her daughter no longer talking to her like a stranger. At that moment Lilith excitedly kicks the door open.
Lilith: Mom! I'm ready!
Lilith carries her staff holding a bindle over her shoulder much to Luke, Eda and King's confusion.
Eda: Huh?
Lilith: Eda walks to her mother. Well, we were talking, and I've decided to go home with Mother and make up for lost time.
Luke, Eda, King and Hooty are surprised at this announcement, well…Hooty is more dismayed.
Luke: Wait, what?
Eda: Lily?
King: You lived here?
Hooty: WHAT!?
Both Gwen and Lilith sadden in guilt.
Gwen: Edalyn. Lilith told me how she gave you the curse. Gwen apologetically takes Eda and Llilith's hands. I am so, so sorry to you both, to have this secret weighing you down. I wish I knew sooner.
Lilith: There's still a lot to be learned about this curse, but... it'll be nice to spend some time home and reconnect with Dad.
Eda looks away hearing the last part as hearing her dad mentioned brings up a terrible memory she's kept hidden.
Gwen: We'll be away for a while, but we have plenty of elixirs stocked up!
Gwen takes out a few elixirs from her hair.
Luke: I'll never understand how they do that.
King: Preach.
Hooty stretches towards Lilith in tears.
Hooty: No! Lulu, you can't!
Lilith: Lilith gently touches Hooty's cheek. Hootsifer, I have to. But don't worry, we can be penpals.
She turns and leaves and Hooty drops to the ground.
Hooty: But I can't hold a pen!
Gwen walks up to Luke.
Gwen: Luke. I owe you a debt I can never repay. If it weren't for you, I might still be wrapped up in Wortlop's lies. So, here's what I should've told you from the start. She bends over towards Luke. You're not the only human to have lived in Bonesborough.
Luke gasps in astonishment. He's not the first human to have come to the Demon Realm!? This is quite the shocker.
Luke: Say, what!? I'm not the first human to have come here!?
Gwen: That's right. Another human came to the Boiling Isles centuries ago. There's a rare substance called Titan's blood. It is extremely powerful and sometimes causes leaks between our realms. Plants, animals... And you guys have a lot of garbage, by the way. But humans are rare. My great-grandmother told me about a human who once lived here. But one day he just vanished. Rumor has it he left something in the library, and if you can find out more about him...
Luke: Maybe I could find out how he got here!
Gwen: Exactly.
Luke: Do you know the human's name?
Gwen: I'm sorry. My grandmother never gave me a name. All I know is that the human who came here was a male.
Luke: That's good enough for me. Luke happily takes Gwen's hand. Thank you so much, Gwen. This is a big help.
Gwen: No. Thank you, Luke, for opening my eyes to the truth. It's because of you I've remembered to trust my daughter and give them both the love and attention they both deserve.
Luke: No biggie. Repairing broken relationships is what I do best. I take back the useless mom comment by the way.
Gwen: Water under the bridge, dear. You know, you and Sparda really are alike.
Luke: Okay, I'm flattered and all, but why does everyone keep saying that? What am I, some kind of Sparda substitute?
Gwen couldn't help but laugh a little while Eda and Lilith exchange nervous looks, the latter changing the subject.
Gwen: It's funny you should say that, dear.
Luke raises his eye a little, exchanging a look of confusion with King. Wanting to change the subject Lilith walks up to her younger sister, the two sharing a smile.
Lilith: Edalyn, thank you for taking me in.
Eda: Aww, don't mention it, Lil. She lightly punches Lilith's shoulder. It's been fun having you over, tormenting and pranking you like the good old days. Besides, what kind of sister would I be if I'd let you go out on your own?
Lilith: Lilith looks down in guilt. I just want to say…I'm sorry, for everything. I know I can never truly make it up to you. But I wish to do everything I can to make things right.
Eda: Hey, quit apologizing to me. I mean, sure, I still haven't fully forgiven you for everything that's happened to me. Eda smiles kindly. But you gave up everything you worked for to help save me from the emperor and you even took half the curse just to make it easier for me. And after spending time with you these past two weeks…I can tell you regret what happened to Sparda and you never meant to curse me and put me through all that at thePetrification Ceremony. Just remember, you're my sister and nothing will change that.
Lilith's heart melts upon hearing Eda refer to her as her sister and the Clawthorne Sisters embrace each other in a hug, officially mending their relationship. When they separate, Lilith looks to Luke.
Lilith: And Luke, I owe you so much. Despite what I almost did, you were willing to accept and trust me. And because of you, the rift that separated me from my mother and sister have been closed.
Luke: Don't mention it Lilith. After what you did for Eda in the end, I knew right then and there you could be trusted. Like I said, fixing family relationships is what I do best.
Lilith: I truly hope you find a way back home to your mother.
Luke: Thanks. And good luck reconnecting with your parents.
Lilith: Thank you, Luke.
Lilith and Gwen flew up on their staves, looking back with smiles before flying away. Hooty is still crying over Lilith's departure while the rest wave their goodbyes.
Eda: Well, I'll be on the couch for the next twenty-four hours. Eda yawns and starts walking into the house. Goodnight.
King: No, wait! I call couch.
Luke looks up to the skies in hope, now having found an actual clue to get back home.
Luke: Finally. A real lead back home. I'll be back soon, Mom. I promise. A gust of wind blows past as Luke frowns. Camps probably ended by now. She's gotta be worried sick.
Scene transitions to the Noceda residence in the human realm where it's night-time too and lights can be seen coming out through the windows on the right side of the house. Inside Camila is sat on the living room couch covering her face with her hands as she cries hysterically. She straightens up and wipes her tears away.
Camila: I'm sorry. These animal documentaries make me such a mess.
"Luke": Here, Mama.
A hand offers Camila a tissue box. Camilla turns to speak with someone who looks exactly like Luke! His face is covered in darkness so his facial features can't be seen.
Camila: Thank you, Luke. You always know what to do.
If Luke's in the Demon Realm… who is the "Luke" living with Camila?
Whoa! Plot Twist! Good news: Eda and Lilith have made amends with their mother and Luke has a new clue back home. But there are questions right now? Who is the "Luke" that's living with Camila!? Who is the human that came to Boiling Isles before Luke?
Up next, filled with doubts over his own magic, Gus embarks on a dangerous quest to prove himself with Glandus students to the Looking Glass Ruins while putting up with his rival, Mattholomule. Meanwhile, Luke makes a trip to the library to look for the diary of the human who came before him. With help from Amity, the two venture into the Forbidden Stacks while also trying to come to terms with their feelings for one another. Can Luke and Gus succeed in overcoming their personal dilemmas?
