Owl House Season 2 Episode 8 – Eda's Requiem

A couple of things to mention before we begin. I've recently become a Core Member on Deviantart! Now I have the ability to gain some funding to make even better artwork. Subscribe to my DA account if you're interested in seeing more Owl House artwork from me. It'll provide even more depth to this story.

I also have something I'm considering to do. I'm thinking of going back through all my chapters and use a find & replace tool to rename Sparda to Ludger. It goes better since Ludger is reminiscent of Lucifer/Luke since it also starts with "Lu". Plus, Lu sounds like a better nickname than Spard. What do you all think? Let me know in the review.

Luke and King compete in a race to get a message out to King's father, wherever he may be. Feeling she's losing her boys, Eda ends up meeting with an old flame from the Bard Coven, Raine Whispers. Former feelings between these two begin to spark as they work together to save wild witches, sabotage Belos and perform a duet called Eda's Reqiuem.

Eda is in her room wearing her pyjamas and looking over a checklist. It reads: "New coat for Luke", "Check itchy boy", "Pay water bill", "Clean Hooty (?)" and "Burn old dress".

Eda: Luke needs a new coat. King needs to be checked for fleas. Am I missing anything? She looks at her reflection, chuckling at how motherly she's acting. Oh, you've changed, Owl Lady.

Eda takes a photo of her with Luke and King at Grom and looks at it. The kids were smiling while she was flustered.

Eda: It's worth it.

Eda hears Luke and King outside. She opens her window and smiles. She looks down and sees Luke and King doing pull-ups on her staff in midair.

Luke: 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50! He sits on Eda's staff, throwing his fists in the air. Woo-hoo! 50 pull-ups in 45 seconds! Alright, King. What's the first thing you're going to do when you meet your dad?

King: And 50,000! Well, once we're done training, I'm gonna move out of that closet, that's for sure. Repede jumps onto Luke's shoulder. Then, I'm going to ugly cry. Hard!

Luke: Have you told Eda about your decision to le—?

King: Shh!

They hear a noise and look up. Eda's window is closed. The Owl Lady herself is crouching under the window frame, hearing Luke and King talk.

King: I-I'm not ready yet. I'm not sure how she'll react.

Eda saddens because she knew this day would come. Once the door is completed, Luke will return to the Human World. And when his dad is found, King will return with him, leaving Eda to live all alone in the Owl House again. She sadly looks at her picture with them as she walks over to her trunk.

Eda: Everyone's leaving, huh? Even King. I guess I'm no substitute for the real thing.

Eda opens her trunk to place the photo inside and spots a lute with a raincloud and bolt carved into it, bringing back old memories for her. She puts the photo in her hair and picks the lute up, preparing to play.

Eda: Welp, nothing like a good distraction.

Eda starts playing a song, and everything around her starts to float as magical energy engulfs her entire room, causing her to gasp in surprise, considering her magic is supposed to be weakened.

Eda: Has my magic returned?

She doesn't notice her gem darken, resulting in the magic being cancelled out, and everything drops, much to her disappointment.

Eda: Oh, guess not. Stupid curse.

Eda puts the lute back in the trunk and returns to her list. Behind her, a plant starts to turn black and corrodes in response to her magic.

Owl House Season 2B Intro

The eye of the old portal door opens, engulfed in flames.

Luke (with blue hair and new outfit) drops down with Rebellion and a Glyph Gun, giving his gun a spin and swung his sword as it opens, releasing electricity while he grins. Repede pops up from his shoulder.

Eda (in her new outfit) slides in from her right, spinning her Owl Staff and swinging to release energy. King pops up from her hair.

Willow emerges and lifts her arms as her eyes glow, summoning huge vines behind. Clover flies next to her.

Gus comes in with a book, summoning two illusions of himself striking poses besides him. Emmeline jumps onto his head.

Amity (with purple hair) twirls in from her right and with a grin her hands glow with purple energy, summoning Abomination goo. Ghost jumps onto her shoulder.

Lilith (in her new outfit and glasses) slides in from the left, spinning her Raven Staff and swinging to release energy like Eda did. Hooty pops out of her clock backpack.

Hunter (minus his mask, tunic or cloak) flash steps from the left with his Cardinal Staff. It turns into Flapjack happily chirping as he draws and swings Yamato, striking a pose and releasing a blade of energy.

A Boiling Isle mural appears, three windows flipping to briefly reveal Qrow, Darius and Eberwolf. The windows flip to reveal Qrow in his Devil Form, Darius in his Abomination form and Eberwolf in his Beast form.

Belos appears striking a powerful pose, his castle behind him as lightning strikes

Luke rode on his Wolf Staff like surfboard, zooming past Bonesborough, flying past Tinella Nosa, sharing a high-five with Gus, Willow being beside him with a plant releasing vines and evading guards that chase him down. Eda and King join in on the fun, riding Owl Staff together. After getting high enough Luke and Eda jump off, transforming into Devil Luke and Harpy Eda with Repede and King riding on them respectively. They have blast taking to the skies, even when they're chased by a massive monstrous worm-like monster lunging at them.

Then the scene changes back to the Owl House, where it's night-time, and stars twinkle in the sky as the quartet are on the roof and looking up into the sky, Harpy Eda holding her staff beside her, Devil Luke holding Rebellion downward with Repede and King riding his other shoulder. Luke and Eda revert back to normal and Luke, Repede and King share a look together. Luke opens a hand, sending a ball of light floating into the sky where it bursts to release a blinding flash.

Owl House: The Son of Sparda

Luke is standing on the edge of a cliff with King, his brand-new staff in hand. Luke has a confident smile and looks to Repede.

Luke: Okay, Repede. Let's put you to the test.

Repede: Woof!

Luke does a couple stretches with his arms.

Luke: Quick little stretch, and here we go!

King held on tight as Luke jumps off, spinning liking a wheel before divebombing. They fall along the cliff, where Luke laughs. As he fell, the Son of Sparda mounts onto his staff. Repede's eyes glow blue and flies Luke and King over the water. They manoeuvre past several rocks, then fly upward until the sun obscures them.

Back with Eda, she's dressed for the day and has moved to the living room with her scroll showing the news.

Announcer: And we're back live at the Emperor's Castle!

The news shows the Coven Heads, Kikimora, and Hunter (Back in full uniform and mask) gathered on stage around a figure with a white cloak.

Announcer: In light of Scooter Crane's retirement, today's ceremony will confirm Raine Whispers as the next head of the Bard Coven.

Qrow, Darius, and Eberwolf (on his steed) walk over to Raine, the Abomination Coven Head, handing them their Bard Coven badge.

Raine: Do I have to be on camera?

Darius: For Titan's sake, just say something.

Raine pulls down their cloak, revealing themselves to be middle-aged like Eda and with grey hair. They are wearing red leggings, black and grey boots, and a black vest over a white tunic that's tucked into their leggings. They appear to be a man, but really, they're non-binary.

Raine: Uh… I am honoured to work with Emperor Belos in preparation for the Day of Uni-bee. They become flustered with their mistake. Uh… I mean, Uni-ly! I mean, uh… oh no, this is going all wrong. Get me outta here!

Raine runs off flustered, Qrow facepalms, and Darius looks at the camera.

Darius: Just cut the feed.

Obviously, Eda found this to be quite hilarious.

Eda: How are you supposed to be Head Bard with stage fright?

The door opens; Luke, Repede, and King have returned, but the former is holding a backpack at arm's length while the latter is holding his stomach with Repede standing next to him.

King: I'm sorry, Luke.

Luke: It's okay, little bro. Hey Eda, got another backpack I can borrow? This one got a little thrown-up in.

Eda: Closet. Luke hurries off. So why are you suddenly so interested in flying? Did you give up on returning to the Human Realm? I mean, I suppose you can stay here a little longer.

Luke: Luke pokes his head out. Oh, no. I'm still going home, but I keep running into some setbacks.

(Flashback)

Luke speaks with the Echo Mouse, which is hiding underneath a bed.

Luke: Come on, little buddy. You got portal info in that belly of yours that I need.

Luke pulls out a carrot, offering it to the terrified mouse.

Luke: You want a carrot? Does baby like carrots? I'd give you cheese, but we're all out.

The mouse runs onto his lap to eat the offering.

Luke: Here we go. It's okay. See, you're safe here.

Hooty, who comes out of nowhere, ignorantly eats and swallows the mouse, much to Luke's shock and dismay.

Hooty: Fear not, sir! Hooty, the guardian owl of Ga'Hoot, has protected you once more! Luke furiously glares at him. Ga'Hoot!

(End of Flashback)

Back in the present, Luke holds a new backpack over his shoulder.

Luke: It took a lot of strangling, but I managed to get Jerry out of Hooty, but he needs to recover. FYI, it's best that we never find out what it's like inside Hooty, considering how traumatized poor Jerry is.

Eda: Jerry? Eda chuckles. Wait, you're naming your Echo Mouse Jerry?

Luke: Name came from an old cartoon I used to watch when I was little about the rivalry between a cat and mouse. Plus, he looks like a Jerry. Also, I should probably let you know I personally let Hooty know just how I felt about him "protecting" me. He has the bruises to prove it.

Hooty: It's true!

The door opens to reveal Hooty, his face sporting a black eye, a swollen beak, a bandage around his head, and a lot of bruises.

King: In the meantime, this weekend is the Gland Prix!

King presents a pamphlet to Eda.

Luke: Hexside, Glandus, and St. Epiderm students race to win glory, honor, and—

King: Fame! Winners also get an interview with the Boiling Isles News! Do you realize what this means?

Luke: We are going to enter the competition and get King on camera to send a message to his dad!

Eda: Oh, that's... great.

Luke: Plus, it'll give me a chance to really test out Repede in the air. I've used him in battle, now it's time for flying. Right, boy!?

Repede: Repede jumps onto Luke's shoulder excitedly. Woof!

King: But, uh... there's something I'd like to talk to you about first. Eda flinches, thinking she knows what it's about. You see, I think it's time for me to le—

Eda: Leave... the talkin' for later. If you want to win, there's no time for talk. You gotta go practice. Now.

Luke, King, and Repede share a look.

Luke: Wanna head back out while your belly's empty?

King: Okay!

Luke: Let's roll, boys!

Luke, King, and Repede run out the door while Eda's smile soon changes into a frown, and she unhappily sighs.

The thought of being alone again with only Hooty for company takes Eda to Grimgrub's Pub, where she's sitting in front of the counter, drowning her sorrows in Apple Blood.

Eda: I just... don't wanna hear him say it, you know? I was finally getting used to having people in the house, then whoosh! Rugs ripped out from underneath me.

Kevin: Sure. I get it. Kevin merely wipes the table with a cloth. It's like every time you come in here, I think, "maybe she'll pay her tab this time".

Eda frowns, merely drinking from her box of Apple Blood. Of course, Kevin doesn't understand what she's going through. She needs someone she can actually talk to. As if to answer her pleas, a crow swoops right past her, a familiar crow that she watches fly up to the top floor. She looks up in surprise, recognizing it.

Eda: Was that…?

Eda grabs her box of Apple Blood and walks up the stairs to the top floor. She slowly sees Qrow sitting at the table with a glass of beer in front of him, giving his old friend a grin, the two not having had a proper conversation in a while.

Qrow: Hey.

Eda: Qrow?

Eda just stands there, glaring at the Weaponry Coven Head, who's supposed to be Luke's uncle, wondering why he lured her here. Only to be surprised when he kicks forward the chair opposite of him, leaving it open for the Owl Lady.

Qrow: You gonna keep glaring? Or we gonna catch up?

One would expect Eda to rudely rebuke this, but instead, she gave a smile.

A couple moments later, Eda is sitting at the table in front of Qrow with a cup of Apple Blood in front of the Owl Lady and a beer in front of Luke's uncle, with the two sharing grins.

Qrow: How long has it been since we've sat down together like this?

Eda: Yeah, well, you have been pretty busy with Weaponry Coven stuff.

Qrow: Still drowning your sorrows in Apple Blood?

Eda: Better than drowning my sorrows in that gunk you drink. At least I don't get drunk.

Qrow: Touché.

The two of them share a laugh and raise their box and cup, respectively, having a little toast before taking another sip from them.

Qrow: But what can I say? This helps me cope. It's the same with you and your Apple Blood.

Eda: Eda looks down, frowning. I won't deny that. You know…, last time we ever saw each other was when we…

Eda and Qrow look down, the former unable to say it.

Qrow: Lost my brother. I know. I remember. I was there when it happened.

Eda: You… sorta blocked me from contacting you. Haven't heard from you in years.

Qrow: It wasn't personal, E.

Eda: I know. You had your reasons. Plus, I guess we all needed some space after what happened, especially Lily since she… well, you know…

Qrow: How've things been between you and Belos' former stooge? You still ticked off over her pretty much ruining your life… and almost getting you turned to stone?

Eda: Well, I wouldn't say I've completely forgiven Lily… She smiles fondly. But she did pretty much sacrifice everything to save me…. Even took half the curse to make it more manageable for me. Recently, we've become sisters again, and I've got to admit, it's nice to have Lily back in my life again after being separated for so long. She looks to Qrow. What about you? Do you still hate her for what she did to you… and to Sparda?

Qrow frowns, unable to fully forgive Lilith due to her selling him and Sparda out to the emperor.

Qrow: Can't say I forgive her, either. She basically sentenced all us devils to death, even me and Sparda. He smiles. But after that stunt she pulled at the Conformatorium, I'd say she's earned back some of my respect. So, I guess there's still hope for her. Maybe there is still hope for our old gang.

Eda: Eda smiles back. Yeah, maybe there is.

Qrow becomes worried upon seeing Eda's smile turn into a frown.

Qrow: Mind telling me what's on your mind? Not every day I hear you acting all sappy. Pretty out of character for you, Owl Lady.

Eda: I'm… just not feeling it today. You sure you wanna hear MY problems?

Qrow: Qrow places his feet on the table. I've got nothing but time and nothing better to do with it.

Eda: Eda sighs, clutching her juice. It's just… my kids are gonna be leaving soon. Luke's on the right track to making a portal back to the Human Realm. And King's planning on getting a message out to his dad.

Qrow: Who's King?

Eda deadpans, wondering if Qrow's actually serious or if he's just being himself.

Eda: The little guy. The one with a skull as a head.

Qrow: Oh yeah. The little furball.

Eda: Anyway… the two of them are looking to get back to their families. Their REAL families. And once they do, I'll be alone again… before I met them…with only Hooty for company.

Qrow: Qrow takes a sip of his drink. But you don't want them to go, do you?

Eda: No, I don't. I know it sounds selfish… but ever since King and Luke came into my life, both of them have practically become my own sons. Eda groans, facepalming. Ugh! I never thought about being a parent before, and now I don't want it to stop.

Qrow: Qrow grins. Hmph. Looks like someone's starting to grow up. 'Bout time.

Eda: Eda gives a glare. Are you saying I'm childish?

Qrow: Yes, you are. But, in a way, you're more mature now. I never would've pegged you as the type who'd want kids of her own.

Eda: Eda blushes. I mean, I never said I didn't want kids. I just never really cared about having any.

Qrow: But now that's changed, hasn't it? You've changed.

Eda: Yeah… I have. Being a mom feels… nice. Over time, I've enjoyed having actual people in my house. When I found King, he was all alone, abandoned in a tower with nothing but a monster as his bodyguard. Sure, he can be pretty annoying with his habits, and we don't see eye-to-eye all the time, but he's family. I never really admitted it to him, but… he's like a son to me. And Luke… boy, that kid is something special.

Eda's expression becomes fonder when thinking about Luke, and Qrow shifts his eyes a little as he places his feet back on the floor.

Qrow: How is my nephew doing?

Eda: Eda widens her eyes. You know?

Qrow: Wasn't hard to figure out. I had a feeling when I first saw the kid, but I wasn't sure. Then I saw how that sword of his reacted, and I was certain… he's Sparda and Aelita's son, isn't he? My nephew.

Eda: Yeah. He is.

Qrow: Qrow looks down in relief. He survived.

Eda: Yeah, he did. You'd like the kid. He reminds me so much of Sparda. Not just because he looks like him, he's so passionate, fearless, he looks out for his friends 'till the end and above all… he's a real smart aleck. Both Eda and Qrow chuckle. And like Aelita, he has a kind heart and he isn't afraid to speak his mind. Not to mention he's got one heck of a temper. Kid's a real out of control thug when he gets angry.

Qrow: Just like his mom.

Eda: And like both of them… he has an insane love for adventure.

Qrow: Yeah, I can see that. The kid's got heart, and I like that. It's nice to know my brother lives on through him. And it's even better to know, I've still got some family left in this world.

Eda looks down frowning a little.

Eda: It's a shame Aelita doesn't know that.

Qrow: Have you… heard from her by any chance.

Eda: No… nothing I'm afraid. I've made hundreds of trips to the Human Realm and there's still no word from her. I just wish there was a way for me to tell her that her son is alive.

Qrow: Well, I'm sure once the kid gets home, he'll figure out a way to reach her. He's a smart kid after all.

Eda smiled in agreement before fiddling with her box a bit from what she's about to suggest.

Eda: You know, Qrow… maybe if you were to ditch the Weaponry Coven, you could come stay at the Owl House. It's only a matter of time before he makes a portal back to the Human Realm. I'm sure Luke would like to get to know his uncle before he leaves.

Qrow: Qrow looks away with a frown. As much as I like the idea of getting to know my nephew outside of a fight… I can't. You know about my own… curse. I'd only be a danger to the kid.

Eda returns with a worried look, knowing about Qrow's own type of "curse".

Eda: Come on, you're not a danger to the kid. You're not a danger to anyone.

Qrow: Try telling that to Sparda.

Eda: Hey, that wasn't your fault, and you know it. Plus, you've helped your nephew twice now in your own way. You helped him regain his confidence after he lost to the Golden Guard. And Lily told me about your encounter with Luke in the Conformatorium. You got him to calm down and keep a cool head before he faced Belos. You helped him save me.

Qrow: And that was the best I could do for him. If I had stuck around him any longer, who knows what would've happened. I might've ruined any chances of the kid saving you or even surviving on the isles, which is why I've been watching over him from a safe distance. Besides… He finishes his drink before putting the cup down and getting up from his seat. I've got a job to do.

Eda scowls, misunderstanding what Qrow meant.

Eda: Let me guess, capturing wild witches in the name of our "beloved emperor". I still don't understand why you, of all people, joined a coven. Aside from Sparda, you're the dead last person I'd ever expect to join one. Plus, why would you work for the tyrant who killed your brother?

Qrow: Qrow stuffs his hands in his pockets. Who says I'm working for that bastard? Eda widens her eyes in surprise. Maybe the only reason I've forced myself to join a coven is to bide my time, gain new intel on Belos, and slowly tear apart his precious coven from the inside.

Eda is surprised. Has Qrow actually been pretending to work for Belos in order to get closer to him and find a new way to take him down?

Eda: But… why didn't you let me in on this? I could've helped.

Qrow: After losing my brother, I prefer to work alone. Besides, I've already made some allies while working for the Weaponry Coven. And they're already risking a lot just by being near me. I'd rather not involve anyone else, especially friends and family. And believe me, I'd rather not lose any more than I already have to that horned bastard.

Eda gives Qrow a look of sympathy, remembering Qrow had lost a lot of things: his brother, his family, and many friends and fellow devils, all to Belos.

Eda: Qrow…

A small sack of snails is tossed in front of Eda. Qrow has his hands stuffed in his pockets.

Qrow: That should be enough to cover your tab. Give Luke my regards. Qrow smiles one last time and walks off. See you around, Eda.

And with that, Qrow morphs into his crow form and flies off and out of the pub. Eda stares in the direction he went in sympathy before smiling sadly.

Eda: Yeah… See you, Qrow.

Wild Witch: Hey! Back off!

Eda quickly runs over to the edge of the top floor to see a purple-haired wild witch being caught and harassed by a Coven Scout and Coven Guard.

Coven Guard: Don't fret, citizens! We are helping this wild witch find her place in society!

Wild Witch: No! I don't want to join a coven! Let me go!

The Wild Witch is forced out of the pub, and Eda watches in outrage, refusing to allow this with or without magic.

After paying her tab to Kevin, she confronts the scouts, picking a fight with them. She's saved when a group of 4 Bard witches, one of them being all too familiar, use their musical magic to humiliate and send away the scouts, making themselves known as the Bards Against the Throne, AKA the BATs. When more scouts wearing earmuffs proceed to arrest them, Eda comes to their aid. And they're able to escape with Qrow (still in crow form) watching the entire thing before flying away.

After giving their thanks to the Owl Lady, she requests to join their group, only for the leader to reject, but she counters by unmasking them to reveal themselves as her old flame, Raine Whispers. They have a comical but friendly reunion. Raine introduces Eda to their group, revealing themselves to be Amber, Derwin, and Katya (the fanfiction lover Luke freed on his first day in the Demon Realm).

They explain how Eda inspired them to rebel against the emperor, forcing witches to join covens against their will, so they rose up the ranks to find out the emperor's schemes and gain the resources to ruin his plans, leading to the creation of the BATs.

When more Coven Scouts are about to arrive, the BATs escape, and Raine lets Eda join, offering up a hand, which she gladly takes.

Outside the Owl House, Luke and King are doing push-ups on the human boy's Wolf Staff, although King has got Hooty doing the work for him. Luke collapses, then stands up.

Luke: Woo! Luke gets up, crosses his arms, and smiles at King. Alright, team, the Gland Prix is the day after tomorrow. Ready for this, boys?

King: I… uh… got the jitters. Hooty sets him on his feet. And I still haven't been able to talk to Eda.

Luke kneels to his level and catches his staff, which flies to him.

Luke: Relax. She's just been busy this week.

Hooty: Hooty leans against King. You've always got Uncle Hooty's shoulder to lean on!

King: You don't have any shoulders!

King runs for it, and Hooty chases after him.

Hooty: Lean on me!

Luke sees Eda leaving the house, wearing a purple cloak, her hair tied to a ponytail, her Owl Staff in hand, and maps under her armpits. Luke approaches her, surfing on his Wolf Staff.

Luke: Eda, King's still waiting to talk to you.

Eda: Uh… maybe later.

Luke jumps off and clutches his staff as King continues running from Hooty.

Luke: Maybe we can talk about it at the Gland Prix?

Eda: I'll be there. I promise!

King: Stay away from me!

Hooty: Let me be your emotional support!

(Timeskip)

Eda presents the BATs maps of the city and learns from them that Belos has some sort of plan that involves forcing witches into covens and stealing as much magic as possible. With Eda's criminal experience and leadership, the BATs were able to carry out a well-executed plan, freeing a bunch of wild witches and sending them out of town where Belos has less reach. And at the same time, Eda and Raine slowly rediscover old feelings for each other.

By the time the BATs finish, it's already morning, and they head back to their hideout, exhausted. Katya is carrying a sleeping Derwin on her back.

Eda: I can't believe it's already morning.

Amber: I'm not tired yet.

Katya: Amber, you've gotta calm down.

Everyone chuckles. The group walks back into their base, where they all celebrate.

Amber: We did it! Eda, you're amazing!

Katya: We actually helped people this time.

Raine lies down on their pillow on the floor. Eda steps in front of them.

Eda: Rainestorm.

Raine: Haven't heard that in a minute.

Eda: She took off her cloak. Oh, you've gotten so strong. It's incredible. She chuckles. But how'd you become Head Bard with your stage fright?

Raine: I'm just that good.

Eda rolls her eyes before frowning.

Eda: So, Raine. How have things been with you since… Well…?

Raine returns her frown.

Raine: Since we lost Sparda? It's been hard at first, but I've been managing.

Eda: You know… last time we saw each other was the day we buried his body in the Human Realm… after he died.

Raine: That was almost 14 years ago. They look down sadly. I think we all remember how we felt that day.

Eda: Yeah. Our team was officially torn apart. Sparda died, Qrow's become a drunk and distanced himself from everyone, Lilith was blindly kissing up to the Emperor, Aelita left Gravesfield and things between you and I at that point had become…

Raine: Fragile.

Eda: Pretty much. We really hit rock bottom after that.

Raine: Has there been any word from Aelita since she left?

Eda: No, none. Still missing. Have you been able to talk with Qrow ever since becoming a coven head?

Raine: A couple times. Qrow tries to keep his distance from me but we've managed to share a few friendly conversations every now and then. And I mean, only a few. He's usually with Darius and Eberwolf for some reason.

Eda: Huh. Interesting. But it's obvious that dusty old Qrow's the same as ever: he acts on his own whims.

Raine: What about you? Do you still know any Bard spells?

Eda: Eda becomes a little nervous. Well, you remember the curse. It messes with my magic.

Raine summons a lute for Eda, which she catches. She looks at Raine and is shocked.

Raine: How'd you become the Owl Lady with your stage fright?

Eda looks away, sporting an embarrassed flush.

Eda: All right. She sighs. You asked for this.

Eda starts playing enchanting music, and as she continues, every object begins to rot, turn black, and corrode, causing Raine to look at her and the objects floating around her in disbelief. She stops playing. Raine looks at their earring, which is nearly corroded. Eda chuckles and snorts as Raine stands up.

Eda: Ha! "Raine's Rhapsody". More like "Eda's Requiem", am I right? She gives the lute back. I-I'll leave the playing to the professionals. Call if you need me.

And with that, she takes her leave.

Amber: Bye, Mama Eda!

After Eda leaves, Raine looks down at one of their damaged maps, a result of Eda's curse-warping magic.

The next day is the Gland Prix, and the competing students are at the starting line, getting ready to compete. The crowd chatters, Principal Bump exchanges greetings with the principals of Glandus High and St. Epiderm High. Eda walks into the vicinity, looking for Luke, King, and Repede. The three run up to her, and Luke is wearing his battle outfit, minus the coat this time. He quickly hugs Eda.

Luke: Eda! You made it!

King: I… uh… would really like to tell you something before the race starts.

Eda: Eda drops down, patting King. Well, if it's so important, we can talk about it after the race... when you win, okay?

King: Uh… yeah, yeah. Okay.

Luke: Hey, teach. Any advice you have for me for this race?

Eda: Now that you ask, I have two. Don't be afraid to give the competition a punch. And always save your best move for last. With Repede's help, you're able to do your own flash-step, right?

Luke: Yup.

Eda: I'd save that for when you're near the finish line. The extra speed will really catch the other students off-guard.

Luke: Eda winks, and Luke gives her a thumbs up. You got it! I'll keep that in mind.

Gus and Perry step in front of the large crystal ball.

Perry: Welcome, everyone, to the Gland Prix!

Gus conjures the event name on the crystal ball they're surrounding. The crowd roars with cheers as the three principals walk up on stage, and a bunch of winged cameras film everything. Gus uses his illusion magic to show a layout of the Titan's arm on the crystal ball.

Perry: Contestants will fly down the right arm to the Cubital Valley. They use speed, cunning, and magic to race to the checkpoint and back to the finish line! Winners get their names etched on the Cup of Ephemeral Glory!

Perry holds up a gold cup made out of skin. And it's alive!

Cup of Ephemeral Glory: All victory is fleeting.

Perry: And an on-camera interview, seen by everyone watching across the Isles!

All the competing students hold their staffs, ready to race. King is looking nervous, but Luke gives him a reassuring shake, putting him at ease a little. The students are on their staffs, and Luke is last to get on his. Luke narrows his eyes; King holds onto his shoulder, and Repede growls.

Perry: On your marks, get set…!

The Cup screams, and the racers take off, zooming into the skies, and the race kicks off.

The crowd erupts with cheers, but Eda isn't very enthusiastic.

Audience Member: Go, baby, go! She speaks to Eda. Which one is yours? This is so exhilarating!

She gives a friendly slap to her arm, and normally Eda would return, but today she isn't feeling it. Suddenly, she gets a ring from her crow phone, takes it out of her hair, and picks up.

Eda: Raine?

Raine: We got a tip about another raid. I know you're busy, but—

Eda: No, it's fine. I'm on my way.

The BATs meet near a broken bridge in the forest, wearing their masks, and Eda's hair is in a ponytail again.

Raine: This should be the spot.

They play a chord, and it creates a sonic boom that ends in a large crash. Their instrument disappears as they turn back to the rest of the group.

Raine: Something isn't right.

Katya, Amber, and Derwin are suddenly waist-deep in abomination goop. Eda and Raine run off and hide, losing their masks as a trail of Abomination goo appears, solidifying to form Darius, the Head of the Abomination Coven.

Darius: Ahh. That feels better.

Something burrows in next to Darius. Eberwolf, Head of the Beast-Keeping Coven, emerges from the ground, landing on all fours.

Darius: Looks like we missed a few.

Raine and Eda, hiding behind a rock below, look in shock at the opponents they're dealing with.

Raine: It's…Head Witches Eberwolf and Darius.

Eda: So that means?

Raine: We fell for their trap.

Even more surprising is when Qrow (in his corvid form) flies in, the Head of the Weaponry Coven morphing back to normal and landing on the bridge stylishly. He stands between Darius and Eberwolf, drawing and opening Harbinger, resting it on his shoulder.

Qrow: Showtime.

Eda and Raine both gasp in surprise.

Raine: Qrow!?

Eda: Uh-oh.

Back in the race, the students are neck-and-neck as they make their way across the arm. Luke and King, having used an invisibility glyph, appear in front of a St. Epiderm student, scaring him. Luke gives his staff a kick, sending him wavering backward, and he falls behind. King jumps onto the back of the Wolf Staff to mock the student.

King: Haha! Saint Epiderm? More like Stank Epiderm!

King secures himself back onto Luke just as he catches up with a Glandus student who's been in the lead. They race for the checkpoint and share a glance until she looks back at the goal, screaming and flying backward. And Luke speeds up, approaching the goalpost at high speed.

King: Might wanna slow down for that turn, Luke. We're gonna crash!

Luke: Oh no, we're not!

Instead of slowing down, Luke flies through the goalpost, sticking a Plant Glyph on it to slingshot them back around and zoom past a bunch of racers, putting them in the lead.

Luke: Nailed it!

The crowd cheers for Luke, as does a proud Principal Bump, who shoots a smug look to the other principals, much to their annoyance.

Luke continues soaring through skies.

Luke: It's too easy! He turns to the Glandus and Saint Epiderm students behind him. Come on! Challenge me!

Annoyed, the two students cast spell circles and when Luke looks back ahead, he and King gasp in shock to see hundreds of rocks and fireballs headed straight for them.

King: We're doomed!

Luke: Not on my watch! Hang on!

Luke leapt off his staff and (in slow-motion) he mockingly dodges every rock and fireball with style and King held on, terrified at first but then begins to enjoy this with Luke. Luke does a split to avoid two fireballs, then with his arms crossed he flew threw a ring of fireballs (legs first), jumps off two rocks, does a little dance on the third before jumping off a couple more while evading more fireballs.

Luke & King: Woo-hoo!

He jumps backward in a swimming like-motion through more fireballs and rocks.

Luke: We're talking style and pizzazz!

King: This is one of your most insane stunts ever and I love it!

Everyone watches Luke tauntingly dodging through the fields of rock and flames with sheer amazement. Gus who wasn't the least bit surprised had his arms crossed, grinning smugly with Emmeline.

Gus: Show off.

Principal Bump was bouncing with excitement while the other two had their jaws agape in disbelief.

Glandus Principal: How can a child his age perform such extraordinary moves with such agility?!

St Epiderm Principal: Who is that boy!?

Bump: That boy is MY student! Luke the Human! He points straight at Luke, mocking his rival principals. You see that! That's real talent!

Luke flips backward from another rock, spinning like a wheel before landing on his Wolf-Staff. He stood on it, giving the speechless racers behind him a grin.

Luke: Yeah! I make this look good! He and King give a two fingered salute. Hasta la vista suckers!

King: That's Spanish for so long suckers!

Luke mounts back on his staff and speeds up.

Luke: You doing okay little bro!?

King: I'm better than okay! That was awesome! Let's do that again!

Luke: That's the spirit!

Back in the forest, Qrow, Darius, and Eberwolf are about to interrogate Katya, Derwin, and Amber.

Darius: This place is disgusting.

Qrow walks over, holding Harbinger over his shoulder with a grin.

Qrow: Don't be such a drama queen. It's just dirt.

Darius: Oh, shut up. Figure out which one's the turncloak so we can leave.

Qrow is first to step up for the interrogation.

Qrow: Shouldn't you kids be at home with your parents rather than go running around playing hero?

Amber: We don't have parents, just each other.

Qrow: Heh. Fair enough. So, are you kiddies gonna talk, or does this need to get ugly?

Katya: Here's our answer.

Katya blows a raspberry at Qrow, and he chuckles a little at this, stroking her chin.

Qrow: Ooh, you're a feisty little cat. I like that.

Katya: If you're thinking of asking me on a date, don't bother. I don't date older men.

Qrow: Wouldn't dream of it, lady. Hey, pooch, do your thing.

Eberwolf climbs around the goo, sniffing the BATs, and shakes his head.

Qrow: Looks like none of these kids are our target.

Darius sighed at this, a finger on his forehead.

Darius: Just my luck.

Darius snaps his finger, lifting up the three members... and then they completely disappear into the puddle! Eda and Raine gasp from their spots.

Katya, Derwin, and Amber drop down in a prison cell. Katya opens her eyes and immediately realizes where she is.

Katya: No.

She grabs the bars and sees, to her great horror and dismay, that she's once again a prisoner in the Conformatorium.

Katya: No! NOT AGAIN!

The three Coven Heads are on the search for their traitor.

Darius: I was scheduled for some me time today, so hand yourself over before things get nasty. No one responds, and Darius gets annoyed. I know they can hear me. I know you can hear me!

Qrow: Like they'll actually listen to that.

Darius: You got a better idea, Mr. Bad Luck Charm?

Qrow: Sorry, not much of a tracker or a whiner.

Darius: Darius growls. Eber, help us out here.

Eberwolf draws a spell circle on his forehead. When it vanishes, he unleashes beams from his eyes, scanning the area and spotting footprints leading into the forest. They all jump down, with Darius looking displeased.

Darius: I'm not going in there. Eberwolf throws dirt that Darius dodges. Agh! What do you think you're-?

Darius gets cut off when Eberwolf climbs all over him before heading into the forest, causing Qrow to laugh.

Darius: You'll regret that, mutt!

Qrow: A little mud won't kill us, Dar. Qrow ribs Darius, patting him on the back. Quit being so spineless and act like a Coven Head.

He walks off laughing, turning into a crow again and flying off after Eberwolf, leaving Darius to glare.

Darius: I hate you both.

Darius turns into goo and follows after Eberwolf and Qrow into the forest.

Up on a tree branch, Eda and Raine appear, the former having used an invisibility glyph. Raine is carrying Eda bridal style, and Eda is no longer wearing her boots, catching her breath.

Eda: I am glad I remembered how to do that.

The glyph disintegrates, and they both land on the mud.

Eda: Ugh. Gross.

Raine: Eda, Belos' plans are a lot more dangerous than I let on. It's just as Sparda suspected. He's preparing some big spell for the Day of Unity, but he can't do it without every head witch. We need to take out Darius and Eberwolf.

Eda: What about Qrow? We can't hurt him. He's our friend and a member of our old team. And I don't believe he's truly loyal to Belos.

Raine: I know, which is why we're only going after Darius and Eberwolf.

Eda: Say no more, Rainestorm. What's the plan?

Raine surprises Eda by summoning a lute in her hands.

Raine: You say your curse messes with magic. I think I can make that work in our favour.

Eberwolf uses his eyes to scope the ground, and Darius and Qrow form/morph near him. Eberwolf looks up, gasping as they see Eda's boots making the footprints themselves. They are also making music as they walk off, which gives Darius a clue.

Darius: Looks like our traitor is a clever little songbird.

Qrow: Clever, is right. And it's pretty obvious who those boots belong to.

The boots turn around and kick mud all over Darius... which then makes him furious. Eberwolf looks up, a little frightened, as Darius absorbs the mud to get it off, but he continues boiling in rage. Qrow steps away next to Eberwolf.

Qrow: Uh-oh.

Darius summons spikes to tear the boots to shreds.

Darius: All right! NO MORE PLAYING AROUND!

He closes his eyes, and when he reopens them, the pupils are black with yellow and green in the center. Abomination goo surrounds him, Qrow and Eberwolf just watching as he turns into an abomination monster, with a machete rising out for him to catch and swing.

Qrow: Hmph. Let's raise some hell.

Qrow steps up, sheathing his sword and crossing his arms. The whites in his eyes turn black, and he spreads his body, black/blue electricity engulfing him until he transforms into his Devil Form. Qrow's skin turns black and feathery; he growls as his teeth become sharp and the whites in his eyes become black. He gains a pair of horns, and his entire body changes, fully transforming into Devil Qrow. He gives a vicious growl as he draws and swings Harbinger.

Eberwolf grew larger fangs and wild hair, letting out a roar. He jumps up and makes a spell circle, and when he phases through it, he summons a giant ratworm. He jumps onto the creature's head, and they set off to find the duo, as did Qrow and Darius, the former taking flight in the air.

Eda and Raine are hiding behind a tree, watching closely.

Eda: Fortunately for Qrow that Darius and Eberwolf wouldn't rat him out to the emperor.

Raine: They were among some of our old friends who knew Qrow was a devil after all.

Eda slowly turns around, sharing a look with her ex. The Owl Lady looked away with a blush, hugging herself. Raine summoned their instruments, handing her the lute.

They spin another spell circle to summon the bow and start playing, their eyes closed. Eda looked around as the environment is swept over with magic, turning everything brighter. She glances back at Raine with a smile. She takes hold of her lute, playing along with Raine. Everything starts turning black, lifting items into the air. They are back-to-back as they continue playing, Eda's gem activating. She places one foot in front of the other as the grass starts to corrode, and it engulfs everything in black. Eberwolf glances back with a chuckle, thinking that he has them, but the magic starts affecting the ratworm, turning it grey.

Darius attempts to follow the sound as everything in front of him turns black.

Darius: There you are.

He looks down to see that the magic is now affecting him, and he screams, falling onto the ground.

Qrow sees what is happening to his allies, and soon, the curse catches him in the air. His legs are slowly rotting.

Qrow: What the!? What is this!?

He growls in pain, falling to the ground on his knees when the curse starts spreading to his body like with Darius.

Eda and Raine keep playing their music, the Owl Lady grinning at the results.

Eda: It's working. Keep-! Wait! They spot Qrow slowly becoming engulfed in the curse. This is gonna kill Qrow, too!

Raine: I'm on it!

Raine flicks a string, sending a blade of energy that homes in on Qrow, smashing into him and sending him flying out of the curse's range. He bounces off a tree, hitting his chest and getting knocked out.

Raine: There! That oughta keep Qrow out of the way.

Eda: Perfect! Keep playing!

Unfortunately, the curse soon begins to engulf Eda and Raine, too, their bodies slowly rotting, which Raine notices.

Raine: Look. We may not make it out ourselves.

Eda: But it'll stop the emperor, right? Raine nods. Then we play on.

Eda turns around and her photo of her, King, and Luke flies out of her hair. Raine widens their eyes, having caught a glimpse of it as it falls on the ground, and they stop playing.

Raine: Eda, do you have kids?!

Eda stops playing, letting out an offbeat key on her mandolin in shock.

Eda: Uh… they're not mine-mine. The kid in the photo is actually Sparda and Aelita's son!

Raine: Sparda and Aelita's son!? I thought he was lost!

Eda: Y-yeah! We thought he was! But then… some things happened, he was found and adopted, then he accidentally came to the Demon Realm and- Eda cuts herself off and tries to get back to playing. It doesn't matter! They both have real families to return to!

Raine makes Eda's instrument disappear, and she collapses on the ground as the withering starts to reverse. She looks up at Raine, who is standing in front of her.

Raine: I don't know what you're running from, but a great witch once told me... something about punching fears in the face? They smiled at her. What I'm trying to say is don't give up so easily. They hand Eda back the photo. They probably need you more than you realize. They offer their hand to her; she takes it with a smile, sharing it with Raine as she stands up. We can find another way to stop Belos… together. I think Sparda would've wanted us to do it that way.

Suddenly, Qrow lands in front of both of them, causing them to gasp to see that he has quickly recovered.

Qrow: There you are.

Eda summons her Owl Staff and Raine their violin bow, which they use to attack Qrow, only for him to effortlessly catch them with his bare hands before spinning around to knock them on the ground with his wings. They land with a grunt.

They are suddenly caught in abomination goo and yell. They are both dragged away by Darius, as both he and Eberwolf had recovered as well.

Darius: Found you, songbird.

Eda screams as they are lifted into the air, and she grabs a branch. She holds on as hard as she can, her hand slipping from them. She looks down at them, tears escaping, as she knows what they are going to do, as she can tell by their grin.

Eda: Raine, don't.

Raine: Go. You know I can't stand an audience.

They give Eda a sad smile before willingly letting go and letting themselves get dragged away. Raine summons the violin, playing it to release a sonic blade, cutting themselves free. Darius groans in pain, Raine landing in front of him. They look at the transformed trio of their fellow Coven Heads with a confident grin.

Raine: Hello Qrow. Darius, Eber.

Qrow: Hey Rainmaker. I had a feeling it was you leading those little raids.

Darius: Raine Whispers. You'll regret what you did to my cloak!

Eberwolf hisses something to him, and Qrow growls in annoyance.

Qrow: Seriously?

Darius: And your treachery, whatever.

Darius rises, looming over Raine, who prepares themselves. Raine begins fighting the three of them while Eda lands near a tree and watches as Raine fights their fellow Coven Heads/friends by themself. She cries profusely and runs off through the forest, promising herself and Raine that she'll save them.

She reaches the race, gasping. She sniffles as she takes a deep breath, running back and seeing the crystal ball. The crystal ball shows the competing students flying faster than bullets toward the starting line.

Perry: The students are in the final stretch, and things are looking close! In the lead is Bria from Glandus, and in dead last is Luke from Hexside! Eda gasps to see about seven racers left, and Luke is in the back, in last place. But it's still anyone's race, folks! All of them are barrelling towards the finish line! Whoever crosses shall win it all!

Eda: Come on, kid, you can do this. Just remember what I taught you.

Luke continues flying like a jet, resisting the excess winds as he tries to catch up with the other racers. King clutches on as tight as possible.

King: I'm sorry about this, Luke! If only I held it in, we wouldn't have crashed!

Luke: Don't worry, little buddy! We've still got this! We can still win this race!

King: How! We're dead last!

Luke: Not for long! It's a good thing I took Eda's advice and saved my best move for last. Time to shift into Turbo! Magic Style! You ready, Repede!?

Repede: Repede's eyes glow. Woof, woof!

Luke: Activating Lightning Flash-Step!

Luke activates his flash step, surrounding himself in a blue aura before teleporting via high-speed lightning dash. He constantly flash-steps right next to a Glandus student, surprising him, and gives a kick to his staff, sending him spiralling and screaming backward. Luke flash-steps again, bouncing and zigzagging off four racers' staffs.

He teleports above another racer, shocking her by flying upside down right above her with a grin.

Luke: Hey. How you doing? Me? The entire world's turned upside down. Let's fix that.

He slaps a Fire Glyph on the back of his staff, and when it ignites, he blasts off like a rocket. The annoyed racer cast a spell, summoning a sword storm and sending it flying at Luke. King yelps after spotting the swords coming their way.

King: Luke! Lookout!

Luke: I know.

Luke quickly swings down and up his staff to stand on his feet, riding it like a surfboard. He quickly summons Rebellion and spins it behind to deflect a couple swords before swinging his blade to deflect the rest. He dismisses Rebellion and focuses back on the race, teleporting and speeding up with the Fire Glyph, eventually arriving right next to Bria, causing her to gasp in shock.

The crowd watches in shock and awe and gives a massive cheer. Eda watches, proud of her student, as Perry continues reporting, and Bump annoys the other principals with a smug smile.

Perry: Amazing! Luke from Hexside has jumped from last place to second place. Now Luke and Bria from Glandus are barrelling towards the finish line!

Luke and Bria fly their staffs at high speed, determined to reach the finish line as it gets within their sights.

They fly along the ground, and at the very last second, Luke catches Bria off-guard with a flash-step, teleporting as they both cross the finish line.

The crystal ball catches the moment, showing Luke to have teleported in front of Bria and crossing the finish line first, riding his staff like a surfboard while King smiles at the camera.

Perry: And it's Luke over Bria! We have our winner!

The entire crowd erupts with cheers and applause, especially Principal Bump, who claps wildly while the other two principals have their mouths agape in disbelief. Bump mockingly points at both of them.

Bump: Ha, ha, ha! In your faces! The two principals become annoyed. Hexside rules! Glandus and St. Epiderm drool!

Eda celebrates, raising her fists in the air.

Eda: Woo-hoo! Eda claps for Luke and King. That's my boys!

Luke puts the brakes on his staff, sharing a look with King on his shoulder before they victoriously raise their fists in the air.

Luke & King: Woo-hoo! Luke and King, number 1!

Repede: Woof!

Luke & King: Luke, King, and Repede, number 1!

Luke: Luke gasps when he spots Eda. Eda!

He runs up to Eda, holding his staff as he gives her a hug, which she gladly returns with a chuckle. He pulls back with a victorious smile along with King.

Luke: Did you see that, teach! We won!

Eda: You sure did! Great job, you crazy kids! I knew you'd win! Though I was worried when I saw you in last place in the end. You were flying like the dang wind. What happened?

Luke: Luke and King become a bit sheepish. Well, funny story, you see, we were winning for a while and then-

(Flashback)

Luke and King are flying in first place, but King looks like he's about to vomit from the excessive speed.

King: Luke?

Luke: King, try to hold it in!

King: I can't!

Luke: King!

Everything goes black as King vomits.

(End of Flashback)

Luke: And then we crashed.

Eda: Well, it's a good thing you took my advice and saved your palisman power for last. Those were sick moves you pulled in the end, Luke. I'm proud of you.

Luke: Thanks, teach. Luke pets Repede. Though I couldn't have done it without this guy here.

Eda: I think it's safe to say you and Repede have a bright future ahead of you as a team, whatever it may be.

Luke: We sure do! He rubs Repede's back. Isn't that right, boy?

Repede: Arrrrooooo!

Luke, Bria, and a Saint Epiderm student are standing on the podium, with Luke standing on the top, 1st place. Gus walks over with the Cup of Ephemeral Glory as Perry continues speaking.

Perry: Let's give a round of applause to our winner, Luke of Hexside.

Gus holds up the cup, and Luke gladly takes it. The two boys share a thumbs up as Eda, Principal Bump, the other principals, competing racers, and the entire crowd give Luke their applause. He shares a happy look with King. Perry walks up with his mic, holding it out to Luke.

Perry: So, Luke. Do you have anything you'd like to say to the world?

Luke: Before I say anything, can we move this interview to the starting line? I feel the view from there will be the best.

Perry: Fair enough.

Scenes shift to the starting line where Luke stands with Eda and King, holding his Wolf Staff and the Cup as multiple cameras surround him.

Luke: First of all, I didn't win this race alone. I'd like to dedicate this win to my awesome new Palisman, Repede!

Repede jumps off the staff, happily sitting on Luke's shoulder.

Repede: Woof!

Luke: And my foxy mentor, Eda Clawthorne!

Luke gestures to Eda as the crowd applauds, while Eda is touched by her student including her in this.

Luke: And lastly, my little bro King has a message he'd like to give to the world. Luke grabs King and sets him down, the little demon looking nervous. Go on, pal. This is it.

King: Um… okay, let me just get out my letter. Hope my dad watches crystal balls.

As King brings out his letter and prepares to read from it, a thought comes to Eda from King's last sentence.

Eda: Hold it! King stops. Just in case he doesn't…

Eda summons her scroll and starts recording, her camera aimed at King, who looks confused.

King: Eda, what's the point of that? We have the-

Eda: No one watches crystal balls anymore. It's all about streaming. Best to do this in case your old man's a Penstagram guy.

King: Alright… She zooms in on him, and he clears his throat, facing the cameras. Hi… Dad. If you're out there watching this, I… uh… want to introduce myself.

As King talks, Willow lies on her bed watching the video in her room, with Clover perched on her head.

King: I like cheesy foods and conquering kingdoms.

Hunter is sitting in his room watching the interview on his crystal ball with an indifferent look, with Flapjack perched on his shoulder.

King: Though I haven't conquered any of my own yet.

In Blight Manor, Amity, Emira, Edric, and Ghost are sitting on the couch, smiling as they watch the video.

King: But maybe you have, and we can compare notes.

Lilith and Gwen are sitting in front of their kitchen table, smiling as they watch King's interview via crystal ball.

Somewhere else, a mysterious demon who looks similar to King is actually watching via Penstagram.

King: I'd love to meet you. We could do parent-kid stuff, toss a ball, burn some cookies, catch me going on weird websites or something. King shows his collar to the screen, causing the demon to look off into the distance. Also, I found this symbol in the tower I hatched in. Maybe you can teach me to read it.

King: I live with my favourite human and a cranky old witch.

Eda: Hey!

King: But cranky or not, she's the one who raised me. Which is why... I am leeegally changing my name to King Clawthorne! He chuckles, taking out the papers to properly change his name. Surprise, Eda! Now we're connected for life, and there's nothing you can do about it!

Eda takes the papers, her voice breaking as she is profoundly shocked and touched that King was legally making himself her son this whole time.

Eda: Is that what you wanted to tell me this whole time?

Luke: Luke pulls out a pen. And, if you sign here, it'll be official.

Eda feels her heart melt, as that would mean King would officially be her son. She starts crying as she bit her lip, so overjoyed to officially have a son, King wanting to be her son, and she won't be left alone after all.

Luke: Eda, are you okay?

Eventually, Eda bursts out sobbing tears of joy.

In the forest, Qrow and Eberwolf are on the bridge, watching and listening to the stream together on the latter's own scroll as Eda cries loudly. Qrow can't help but smile for Eda.

Qrow: Way to go, E. I knew you had it in you.

Raine, now injured, is trapped in abomination goo, and Darius looks up, irritated by Eda's crying.

Darius: Would you shut that off? We're supposed to be tormenting Raine, not me.

Eberwolf sets the volume to maximum, irritating Darius further. Eberwolf just grins while Qrow chuckles, sharing a fist bump with Eberwolf.

Darius: Why are you both like this?

Qrow: Because we own you.

A splash is heard, and they turn around to see Raine running off. They glance back before turning around and gasping. Kikimora comes out of the shadows, standing on an Abomaton.

Kikimora: Leaving so soon?

Raine runs off but is captured by the Abomaton. The trio of Coven Heads walks up to Kikimora, Qrow bringing out his bottle of beer.

Qrow: What the hell are you doing here, you little gremlin?

Darius: Qrow takes a drink. I told you we didn't need help. So, get that ugly thing out of my face.

Qrow: And tell that hag, Odalia, I said she's nothing but a sellout.

Darius: And tell Alador he's a hack while you're at it.

Kikimora just ignores them and looks back to Raine, who is being held up by the Abomaton.

Kikimora: Emperor Belos was rather upset to learn that you had a hand in the recent raid incidents.

Raine: Raine just grins. Guess I can look forward to my own petrification, huh?

Kikimora: No. It'd be too much of a hassle to find a replacement.

A finger from her head lifts up, activating the Bard symbol on Raine's arm. It starts to crawl over them, encasing them in some sort of cocoon.

Kikimora: The emperor needs you alive and well for the Day of Unity. But until then, night-night.

She waves as she is the last thing they see before everything goes black...

Looks like King's a Clawthorne now and is officially Eda's son! And we've finally met Eda's ex, Raine Whispers… who's now been captured by the Emperor's Coven for betrayal. What will happen to them now?

Up next, Eda tells Luke the story of how she met the most badass and powerful witch she's ever known, Sparda Kresnik. The rivalry that formed between the two, followed up with the friendship that was forged right after.
