Chapter 13: Guess Who's Back
Jazz and Sam were almost to the Far Frozen when the spectre speeder detected several ghosts headed in their direction. "Last time this many ghosts were moving in one direction Pariah Dark was free. You don't think he's free do you?"
"I hope not. We better hurry to the Far Frozen. Maybe Frostbite will know what's going on." The speeder sped up and narrowly avoided a horde of ghosts fleeing from somewhere else in the Ghost Zone.
Ten minutes later the teen girls finally made it to the Far Frozen. Sam parked the speeder just outside one of the caves. As soon as the two stepped out they were surrounded by yetis. "Sister and friend of the Great One! You must leave the Infinite Realms at once! It's become too dangerous!"
Frostbite emerged from within the cave with a dark look on his face. "What's going on out here? Why have you all stopped making preparations?" He finally saw the two girls and his face softened a little. "You shouldn't be here. The Infinite Realms have become dangerous as of late. We must get you home at once!"
Sam took a step forward. "Okay can someone explain to us what's going on? We came here to speak to you about using the Infimap to search for Danny."
Frostbite furrowed his brows. "The Great One is missing? This is worse than I thought... Please come inside right away!" He didn't wait for a response as he went back inside the cave.
The girls were offered a giant chair made of ice that was covered in animal pelts. Frostbite made ice stairs to help them up. "How long has the Great One been missing?"
"Since Christmas Eve. What's happening in the Ghost Zone that has everyone on edge? Did Pariah Dark manage to escape again?"
The yeti ghost shook his head. "Somehow I fear it is much worse than him. I will let you know as soon as I have more information but for now we must get you two out of here as soon as possible. Those ghosts weren't headed to your parents' portal were they?"
Jazz dragged a hand down her face. "I really hope not but they most likely are. The only good thing is that its currently rigged to open and close only for the spectre speeder or if someone in the lab opens it."
"Then we will go through a natural portal using the map!"
"Your coming with us?"
"Lady Samantha you are one of the mortal saviors of the Infinite Realms! It would be an honor and privilege to help you in search of the Great One!" Frostbite lead them to a room filled with different artifacts, all of them radiating power. He stopped in front of a familiar scroll on top of a pedestal. He grabbed the map and it immediately unscrolled itself. "Please take us-"
Sam cut him off. "wait, we can hook up the map to the speeder so no one's struggling to hold on."
"That is an excellent plan! Let us go at once!"
Sam and Jazz forgot to take into account how big Frostbite actually was. Sitting down his horns slightly scratched the ceiling. "Sorry Frostbite, we forgot how big you are."
"It's fine. We have no time to waste! Lady Samantha please connect the Infimap to your vehicle!"
Sam did just that and asked the map to bring them to Danny. The speeder took off at a speed it would normally never be able to reach. The girls and ghost expected to leave the Ghost Zone through a natural portal but instead they were brought to the reason why the ghosts were fleeing. "Clockwork's Tower... It's destroyed!"
Frostbite saw something emerging from the wreckage. "Infimap get us to safety, NOW!" The speeder took off even faster than last time if that was possible. He turned to face the teens. "That was not the Great One!"
Jazz was pale. She'd gotten a glimpse of a ghost with her brother's insignia but something in her immediately filled with dread at the sight of him. Evil laughter suddenly filled her head. Sam had the same look on her face. "Who was that and why did he look like Danny?"
"I do not wish to find out."
The speeder came to a sudden halt in an unfamiliar place. It was nighttime with a raging blizzard outside. In the distance Frostbite could barely make out a light. "Head towards that light up ahead!"
Sam looked through the windshield. "What light? All I see is snow."
The yeti ghost thought for a moment. "Your mortal eyes cannot see the same things I do but I have a way to fix that if you will allow me."
Jazz looked to Sam, Frostbite was trustworthy but the younger girl knew him better. Sam nodded. "Okay but it won't hurt will it?"
"Not at all, the most it will do is irritate your eyes for a few minutes." He placed a paw in front of each girl as a gentle goal emitted from them.
After about five minutes Frostbite moved his paws away. Sam blinked back tears. "You weren't kidding about the irritation."
"Can you see it now?"
"Actually yeah and its really obvious!"
"Then let us head towards it!"
Back in the Ghost Zone Cujo and the little bat were confused and afraid. The little bat thought the person towering above him had the same scary aura but with an air of deadliness to it. Cujo didn't understand what happened to his friend but wanted to help him in any way he could.
"I should end your worthless afterlives, but you may be of some use to me. Let's go..." Dan started to fly away from the clocktower wreckage.
