Chapter 15: Old Friends, Older Allies

North, Bunny and Jack decided they should bring Tucker and Dani back to the North Pole when the Fenton alarms started blaring.

Warning warning large amount of ghosts approaching! Reinforcing portal doors!

Jack gulped, "That doesn't sound good..."

Tucker blanched, "Oh no... Dani turn on the ghost shield quick! We need to keep them contained for as long as possible! I'll sound the town alarm!

"On it!" The female halfa turned to the... spirits? Honestly she wasn't sure how they weren't ghosts. "You guys might want to get out of here before I turn it on. I don't know if it'll effect you guys or not and now's not the time to test it out.

The guardians all nodded and made their way upstairs but stopped when they stopped and saw the state the kitchen and living room.

Dani flew up behind Jack, "There's no time for gawking. Just cross the street, that should be a safe enough distance."

The guardians nodded and went across the street. A minute later a green dome emerged from the top of the building. Dani rushed out of the front door but her appearance was different. Instead of long a glowing girl with white hair tied in a high ponytail and a black and silver two piece jumpsuit was a girl with long raven black hair wearing a blue sweatshirt and red pants.

"Tucker do you think Sam and Jazz are okay?"

"If they managed to get to the Far Frozen then they should be. I'm more worried about the ghosts trying to leave. Last time this happened was because of Pariah Dark."

Jack was about to ask who they were talking about but North put a hand on his shoulder and shook his head. "Not our place to ask."

Dani looked at the three guardians. "We should probably leave. Tucker set the town's alarms so that if the ghosts break through the portal the town will be alerted. I heard stories of what happened last time and none of it was good."

"Where would we go? All of our allies live in the Ghost Zone and it won't be long before the GIW's own scanners detect the ecto-levels coming from here."

North cleared his throat. "I know some where we can go that'll be safe. Although I am not sure how Tucker would be able to see anything."

"If he can still sense you're there then we should be fine until he manages to see you again." A blue wisp escaped Dani's mouth. "Either a ghost is is nearby or they're starting to break through. I really hope its the first one!"

For once the luck of being a halfa was good. Cujo was in his big form and pounced on Jack, knocking the winter spirit over. The big puppy sniffed him before whimpering and running away. "What the heck was that!?"

"That's just Cujo. He's mostly harmless."

"Mostly!?"

"Cujo always searching for something." Dani gasped as she remembered something. "Sam has a mini portal at her house! If he goes there other ghosts might get through!" She quickly transformed again and flew off.

Tucker glanced around awkwardly. "I'm not alone am I? Dani was actually talking to someone and it's not some weird prank?"

The guardians stood there, unsure that if they spoke the teen would hear them.

A few minutes later Dani was flying back and looking slightly out of breath. "Sorry if I was gone too long. Cujo didn't want to stop searching. Woah the sky suddenly looks very pretty..."

Everyone looked up to see the sky was indeed lit up in shimmering lights. "The Aurora Borealis! I've never seen one this vibrant before..." Dani stared at the sky in amazement.

"This is an unusual phenomenal! We aren't in a section of Illinois where the northern lights are this visible! Where's my PDA!"

The guardians all became very serious. The lights being activated meant something was wrong. North pulled a snow globe from an inner pocket, whispered into it and threw it onto the ground. Jack and Bunny immediately went through the portal that appeared. North pointed over at Dani. "Grab your friend and head into the portal! Something is very wrong!"

Sensing the urgency in the bearded man's voice, Dani nodded before grabbing the older teen and yanking him through the strange portal. Once they were both through the portal it reverted back into a snow globe.

Tucker immediately fell to the floor with a thud. "Ugh... why do I feel sick all of a sudden?"

"Tucker!?" Everyone turned to see Tooth and Sandy holding two teenage girls and a glowing creature with horns that was probably taller than Bunny.

Dani immediately flew over to the girls. "Jazz, Sam, you're okay! Did Frostbite help you find Danny?-"

Jack interrupted the halfa with his own questions. "You know those girls? Also what is THAT and why does it almost look like a yeti?"

Frostbite frowned slightly, being used to others gawking at his appearance but before he could say anything Sam gave the white haired teen a harsh glare and started yelling at him. "Frostbite isn't an IT! He's a HE and HE is a yeti! How would you feel if someone told you that you looked like a homeless Victorian child that got lost in the woods!" The goth girl's anger faded some when she saw the look on the other teen's face. "It doesn't feel good when someone makes fun of you, accidentally or on purpose. In your case it was most likely an accident but you should still be conscious of how an innocent question can be harmful to others."

There was a deeper meaning behind that statement and the young guardian decided he didn't want to know what it was.

"WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY I CAN'T SEE, WHY SAM WENT ON A RANT AND WHERE WE ARE!?" Everyone turned to see Tucker had walked straight into a wall making his glasses fall off.

An elf that had been following him around dashed towards the fallen spectacles and put them on. The elf walked straight into the same wall and fell.

"What's wrong with him? We can see just fine."

North sighed before muttering something in Russian. "He doesn't fully believe yet so he can't see or hear anything. Hold on... how are you girls able to see and hear when young Tucker can not?"

Jazz and Sam shrugged before glancing at the giant yeti ghost. "That would be because of me. As lady Samantha has stated, my name is Frostbite and I am a ghost yeti." Everyone watched as Tucker tripped over the elf in search of his glasses. "I could help Sir Tucker see just like I did with Lady's Samantha and Jazmine. I just need at least one of my paws free."

Tooth and Sandy look skeptical but North gave a nod. The guardians watched carefully as Sandy released his hold on Frostbite's non icy arm. "Sir Tucker, do you think you could walk towards the sound of my voice? I know this might be scary but I'm sure you and your friends have faced worse challenges than blindness."

"Or I can guide him to you since I'm the only one who's free and can see what's going on."

"That is a great idea Lady Danielle!"

Dani floated over to Tucker and not so gently dragged him across the floor to the yeti ghost. "Ow, Dani that hurts!" She finally let go of him once they were in front of Frostbite.

Tucker stood up and glared at the blob he assumed was Dani. "You could've been a little more gentle you know!"

"We don't have time for gentleness! Danny's still out there and the sooner you can see the better!"

"Please hold still and try not to blink sir Tucker." It was quiet as everyone let Frostbite give Tucker the ability to see and hear the guardians.

Jack feeling impatient decided to ask the yeti ghost questions. "What's with the glow from your paws? How will it help him see?"

"Tell me, do you know what the difference between a ghost and a spirit is?"

"No."

"We are very similar in the sense that under normal circumstances none of us would be seen by mortals, as well as most being reborn as a spirit or ghost after dying. That's where our similarities end." He looked down at his ice arm. "While all spirits hold a purpose that is beneficial to the world the same can't be said about ghosts. Do you know what makes a ghost a ghost or a spirit a spirit?"

Sam spoke up this time. "Is it because you still have a purpose you need to complete?"

"Yes and no. I am not sure what keeps a spirit alive but as you already know Lady Samantha ghosts all have an obsession, a goal they want to complete in order to move on. For example my obsession is to live a peaceful life in the village of the Far Frozen, but that isn't always possible so I'm still here. There's also the great one, he may be a new ghost but his obsession is one of the strongest I've ever seen. He'll make a great ruler of the infinite realms." Frostbite moved his paw away. "Can you see the others now Sir Tucker?"

Said teen looked around blinking rapidly as his eyes had dried out slightly. "I can't see anything properly, everything's a blob."

"Where'd his glasses go?"

"Can we be released now?"

North nodded for Tooth and Sandy to let the teens and ghost go. "I think we can trust them." Jazz let out an involuntary yawn. "It must be close to midnight in your time zone by now. You should get some rest."

The three teens instantly tensed up. "Oh no I think that's unnecessary!"

"Yeah I'm not even tired!"

"Sleep is just a concept to give parents a break from their children!" Everyone stared at Tucker.

The teens fell to the floor as golden sand was thrown into their faces.

"What'd ya do that for Sandy?"

Frostbite glared menacingly at the golden man. "Yes what have you done to my friends?"
