Chapter 2; The Search

After the dragons were gone. Stoick and the others were looking at Hiccup and Eric. Stoick then walked up to Eric and Knight, and said to them. "Who are you?

"Me? Oh. I'm Eric. This is Knight."

"Why are you here?"

"My friends and I were in a battle. After the battle was over we were split up, and I found myself on your island. Then Hiccup helped me to your village." Eric said and then Stoick turned to Hiccup and said. "So you bring an unknown person into the village?"

"I know that it is bad, but I don't think he is a danger. Also, I hit a Night Fury." Hiccup said to Stoick, before he grabbed them. As they were getting dragged away, Hiccup said to Stoick. "It's not like the last few times, Dad! I really, actually hit it! You guys were busy. I had a very clear shot. It went down off Raven Point. Let's get a search party…"

"Stop!" Stoick yelled as he let them go. Stoick claimed down and said to Hiccup. "Just stop. Every time you step outside, disaster follows. Can you not see that I have bigger problems? Winter is almost here and I have an entire village to feed!"

"Between you and me, the village could do with a little less feeding."

"This isn't a joke, Hiccup! Why can't you follow the simplest orders?"

"I can't stop myself. I see a dragon and I have to just kill it. It's who I am, Dad."

"Oh, you're many things, Hiccup. But a dragon killer is not one of them." Stoick said to Hiccup. Stoick then turned to Gobber and said. "Gobber. Take Hiccup and the outsider to the house I clean up his mess." Then Stoick, Sword Walker and the other Vikings left. As Gobber was escorting Hiccup, Eric, and Knight to Hiccup's hut. They passed by the Viking Teens and their Pokemon. The twins were laughing at Hiccup, and Snotlout said to Hiccup. "I've never seen anyone mess up that badly. That helped."

"Thank you, thank you. I was trying." Hiccup said, not really caring what Snotlout was saying. Gobber then pushed Snotlout and as they got closer to Hiccup's hut, Hiccup said to Gobber. "I really did hit one."

"He is telling you guys the truth." Eric said to Gobber and Gobber said. "Sure."

"He never listens." Hiccup said before Eric said. "Are you talking about your dad or Gobber?"

"My Dad. He almost never listens to me. And when he does, it's with this disappointed scowl, like someone skimped on meat in his sandwich." Hiccup said before Eric said. "I'm sure your mom would listen to you, and your dad would listen to her." Hiccup went quiet and Gobber said to Eric. "Uh, lad? Hiccup's mother was taken by a dragon when Hiccup was no more than a baby."

"Oh. Oh! I am so sorry Hiccup." Eric said to Hiccup. And then Hiccup said to Eric. "It's fine. I know if I had met my Mom, she would love me for me. Not like my Dad." Hiccup then started to mimic Stoick. "Excuse me, barmaid. I'm afraid you brought me the wrong offspring. I ordered an extra-large boy with beefy arms, extra guts and glory on the side. This here, this is a talking fishbone."

"No. You're thinking about this wrong. It's not so much what you look like, it's what's inside that he can't stand." Gobber said to Hiccup. All of them gave Gobber a blank stare and then Hiccup said to Gobber. "Thank you for summing that up."

"Look, the point is, stop trying so hard to be something you're not." Gobber said to Hiccup as Eric and Knight entered the hut. "I just want to be one of you guys." Hiccup said before following Eric and Knight inside. Gobber sighed, but didn't follow them inside. Which was a mistake. Hiccup, Eric, and Knight soon went out the back and started their search for the spot the Night Fury crashed in.

As for Gobber, he and everyone was summoned to the Great Hall, a very big room carved out of a room inside the mountain in the center of the island, by Stoick. "Either we finish them or they'll finish us! It's the only way we'll be rid of them. If we find the nest and destroy it, the dragons will leave. They'll find another home! One more search before the ice sets in."

"Those ships never come back." A male Viking said to Stoick. Stoick then said to everyone. "We're Vikings. It's an occupational hazard. Now who's with me?!" No one volunteered, so Stoick then said to everyone. "All right. Those who stay will look after Hiccup." Then everyone volunteered and Stoick ended the meeting. Then everyone started to pack for the raid. Stoick found Gobber, who had a mug as a hand, and said. "Gobber. I need to talk to you."

"About what? I have to pack my undies."

"I need you to stay, keep an eye on the outsiders, and train some new recruits."

"Oh, perfect. And, while I'm bust, Hiccup can cover the stall. Molten steel, razor-sharp blades, lots of time to himself. What could possibly go wrong?" Gobber said as Stoick took a seat next to him. Stoick sighed, and as Sword Walker gave Stoick a drink, Stoick said to Gobber. "What am I going to do with him, Gobber?"

"Put him in training with the others."

"No, I'm serious."

"So am I."

"Without a BattleMon, he'd be killed before the first dragon is out of its cage."

"You don't know that."

"I do, actually."

"No, you don't."

"No, I do."

"No, you don't."

"Listen, you know what he's like. From the time he could crawl he's been.. Different. He doesn't listen. He has the attention span of a sparrow. I take him fishing and he goes hunting for trolls!"

"Trolls exist. They steal your socks. But only the left ones. What's with that?"

"When I was a boy…"

"Here we go."

"...my father told me to band my head against a rock and I did it. I thought it was crazy, but I didn't question him. And you know what happened?"

"You got a headache."

"That rock split in two." Stoick said before Sword Walker returned and was saying like there was more to that story. Stoick then said. "And it's how I met Sword Walker, back when he was a Pawniard. And it taught me what a Viking could do, Gobber. He could crush mountains, level forest, tame seas! Even as a boy, I knew what I was, what I had to become. Hiccup is not that boy."

"You can't stop him, Stoick. You can only prepare him. I know it seems hopeless, but you won't always be around to protect him. He's going to get out there again. He's probably out there now." Gobber said and he was right.

Back in the forst, Hiccup, Eric, and Knight were still looking around for the spot the Night Fury crashed, but it wasn't going well. So a frustrated Hiccup then said out loud. "Oh, the gods hate me. Some people lose their knife or their mug. Not me. I managed to lose an entire dragon."

"We'll find the Night Fury Hiccup." Eric said before Hiccup hit a branch away. The branch hit Hiccup in the face and Eric said to him. "Are you ok?"

"Yeah, I'm… ok…" Hiccup said before he noticed a damaged tree. Hiccup, Eric and Knight then noticed a trail of destruction. They followed the trail and at the end of it was the Night Fury. The moment they saw it, they ducked in fear that something would happen, but nothing did. Everyone took a look and saw that the Night Fury was a black medium size dragon, and it was still wrapped inside Hiccup's bola. "Stay here. Both of you." Eric said as he got closer to the Night Fury. Once Eric got close, Eric noticed that the Night Fury wasn't moving at all. "I think it's safe." Eric said as he took off his backpack and placed it behind a rock. Then Hiccup and Knight joined Eric and Hiccup said looking at the Night Fury. "Oh, wow. I did it. Ohh, I did it. This… This fixes everything! Yes! I have brought down this mighty beast!" Hiccup then placed his foot on the Night Fury, and the Night Fury made a sound, letting them know that the Night Fury was still alive.

Everyone backed away from the Night Fury and they saw that the Night Fury was looking at them with emerald green eyes. Hiccup drew his knife and said as he got closer to the Night Fury. "I'm going to kill you, dragon. Then I'll cut out your heart and take it to my father. I am a Viking. I am a Viking!" Eric turned away as Hiccup raised his knife. But before Hiccup plunged his knife into the Night Fury, Hiccup took one last look at the Night Fury. Then Hiccup noticed that the Night Fury wasn't trying to escape, but was scared for what was going to happen next. Hiccup couldn't bring himself to kill the Night Fury. So Hiccup lowered his knife and said looking at his work. "I did this." Eric then turned to Hiccup, and in the next moment, Hiccup chose to cut the Night Fury free. Eric then said to Hiccup. "Hiccup? What are you doing?"

"I can't leave it like this."

"I understand that, but… Whoa!" Eric said and in that moment, the Night Fury was freed. It pounced onto Hiccup, and knocked Eric down with is tail. The Night Fury pinned Hiccup to the ground and Eric and Knight were going to fight to Night Fury off Hiccup. But a Steam Whip appeared and pinned them down. Eric looked up and saw that it was the same Steam Whip that chased them from last nights raid. The Night Fury roared at the Steam Whip. The Steam Whip roared at the Night Fury, letting it know that it had Eric and his Pokemon. The Night Fury was find with that, and then looked at Hiccup. It took in a deep breath, then roared very loudly in Hiccup's face. The Night Fury then let go of Hiccup, turned around, and flew away. But something was wrong with the Night Fury. For some reason the Night Fury wasn't flying well, and everyone saw that. The Steam Whip chose to let Eric and Knight go and follow the Night Fury. Both Hiccup and Eric got up and Eric said to Hiccup. "Hiccup, why is the Steam Whip following the Night Fury?"

"I don't know why?" Hiccup said as he started to walk away. Then Hiccup started to faint. Lucky Eric caught him, and place he next to a rock. As they were waiting for Hiccup to wake up, Tera came out of the bag. Tera got Eric's attention and pointed to the bag. Eric looked inside and saw that the egg was glowing. Eric pulled out the egg and once it was outside a bright light blinding them.
