Chapter 5; Sides
After sailing for a few days, Stoick, Sword Walker, along with three ships had reached an area that was covered in steam. "Take us in." Stoick said as they went inside. But the moment they were all inside, dragons swarmed and attacked them.
Back on Berk, at the arena which was set up like a maze. Gobber was watching them from outside and Hiccup said to him. "Hey, you know, I just happened to notice the book had nothing on Night Furies. Is there another book, or a sequel? Maybe a Night Fury pamphlet?"
"Hiccup! Look out!" Eric said as he pulled Hiccup out of the way a fire blast from a Deadly Nadder that was climbing over the walls. The blast destroyed Hiccup's axe's and Eric said as they ran away. "What is the point of this lesson?"
"Today's lesson is all about attack! Nadders are quick and light on their feet. Your job is to be quicker and lighter!" Gobber said as the Nadder found Fishlegs and Sparky. The Nadder fired some razor sharp quills from its tail. Fishlegs then said as he blocked the quills with his shield, and after he and Sparky ran away. "I'm really beginning to question your teaching methods!"
"Look for its blind spot! Every dragon has one. Find it, hide in it and strike!" Gobber said and the twins found themselves in the Nadders blind spot, which was the very front of the Nadder's head. The twins were fine, until they started to fight. The Nadder heard them and opened fire at them. The twins dodged in time and Gobber said with a little laugh. "Blind spot, yes. Deaf spot, not so much."
"How would one sneak up on a Night Fury?" Hiccup said to Gobber and Gobber said to him. "No one's ever met one and lived to tell the tale. Now get in there!"
"I know, I know, but hypothetically…" Hiccup said before Eric covered his mouth and got him down. Hiccup then noticed the Nadder jumping over them. The Nadder then saw Astrid and Snotlout, and landed in front of them. "Watch out, bade. I'll take care of this." Snotlout said as he threw his weapon at the Nadder, but he missed. Hookblade laughed and Snotlout said as they all ran away. "The sun was in my eyes, Astrid. What do you want me to do, block the sun? I could do that but I don't have time" Then Snotlout and Astrid split up and the Nadder was after Astrid and Spikeball. Astrid and Spikeball made a quick turn and the Nadder hit one of the walls, causing them all to fall like dominoes. During the chaos, Astrid fell onto Hiccup and her axe was stuck on his shield. The twins saw this and Tuffnut said. "Ooh! Love on the battlefield."
"She could do better." Ruffnut said as she got up. She then noticed the Nadder had recovered and was going after them. Astrid tried to free her axes, but she couldn't. So she just removed Hiccup's shield and hit the Nadder with her axes and Hiccup's shield. The shield shattered and then Nadder was done. Coal then made the Nadder go back into its cage. Astrid then pointed her axe's at Hiccup and said. "Is this some kind of a joke to you? Our parent's war is about to become ours. Figure out which side you're on."
After the class was over, they then returned to the cove, with some fish. They wanted to learn more about the dragons, and once they entered the cove and didn't see the Night Fury or the Steam Whip. Hiccup then said to Eric. "Do you think they're gone?"
"Nope." Eric said as the Night Fury appeared behind a rock and the Steam Whip came out of the water. The two dragons did get closer, because they wanted the fish. But then they turned aggressive towards them. Eric noticed that they were looking at Hiccup's knife and said. "Hiccup, give me the knife." Hiccup gave the knife and threw it out of the cove. That claimed them down and they got closer. The Steam Whip took the fish from Eric, and the Night Fury got closer to Hiccup. Once the Night Fury was close, Hiccup noticed that the Night Fury didn't have any teeth. "Toothless. I could have sworn you had…" Then the Night Fury's teeth reappeared and he took the fish. "...teeth." The Night Fury then spit out a piece of the fish, and gave it to Hiccup. As the Night Fury took the seat, waiting for something. Eric had an idea and said. "I think he's sharing his lunch with you. You better eat it." Hiccup signs and eat a piece of the fish.
After Hiccup finished he smiled, and the Night Fury minced him. Hiccup then tried to touch the Night Fury, but it still didn't trust him or Eric. As the Steam Whip returned to the center of the pond. The Night Fury went to the other side and breathed fire on a spot. The Night Fury then chose to rest on the hot spot. Hiccup got and moved closer to the Night Fury, but the Night Fury wasn't having it. So the Night Fury left them and hung upside down like a bat. Both dragons started to take a nap and Hiccup, Eric, and their Pokemon choice to wait inside the cove.
As the sun started to set, the Night Fury and the Steam Whip noticed that they were still there, wait. The Steam Whip didn't really care, but the Night Fury was starting to get curious. The Night Fury then moved closer to them and saw that Hiccup had drawn Tera, Knight, Flare, Knack, the Night Fury and the Steam Whip. The Night Fury was impressed and decided to draw too. Everyone watched as the Night Fury took a low branch off the tree and started to draw on the ground too. After the Night Fury was done, everyone saw it was a bunch of lines. Hiccup got up and stepped on one of the lines. That made the Night Fury growl at Hiccup. Hiccup raised his foot and the growling stopped. Hiccup did that a few times, before he started to walk over the lines. The lines cause Hiccup to get a little confused. So he didn't know that he was getting closer to the Night Fury until he was almost next to the Night Fury. Hiccup then tried to touch the Night Fury again. But this time, Hiccup closed his eyes, raised his right hand, and didn't move. The Night Fury then put his head on Hiccup's hand. Hiccup opened his eyes and was amazed. The Night Fury then moved away from Hiccup. While the Steam Whip wasn't totally cool with them, the Night Fury was. However the Night Fury was still mad at Hiccup for what he did to his tail wing. If Hiccup wanted to gain any level of trust with the Night Fury, then he would have to do something that would help the Night Fury fly again.
