Chapter 10; The End of the War
At Dragon Island, the Vikings were all set and ready for the final battle. They had wooden spikes ready, and their catapults ready to fire. After Stoick was done expelling the plan, which was to make a hole and charge right in, he said to the Vikings. "When we crack this mountain open, all hell is going to break loose."
"In my undies. Good thing I brought extras." Gobber said before Stoick said. "No matter how this ends, it ends today." Stoick then ordered the catapults to all fire at a certain spot. One by one, each rock hit the spot, creating an opening into the mountain. As the catapults reloaded, Stoick and Sword Walker entered the hole. The hole was dark, so Stoick motioned a catapult to fire a fireball into the hole. The fireball fell over Stoick and Sword Walker, and lit up the hole showing all of the dragons resting inside. As the fireball reached the heart of the mountain, Stoick roared and then he and Sword Walker charged right in. The dragons roared, but instead of fighting, the dragon evacuated the island. The dragons, even Toothless, were scared and were running away. The Vikings were underwhelmed, and Gobber said. "Is that it?"
"We've done it!" A male Viking said and everyone cheered, thinking that the war was over. Stoick then noticed that Toothless was trying to escape and run away too. Stoick then realized that this battle wasn't over, and then said to everyone. "This isn't over! Form your ranks! Hold together!" Then a rumbling and cracking sound could be heard, and that was followed by the sound of the Red Death's roar. The Vikings frozen in fear, after all the roar of the Red Death wasn't something that they had heard before. Thanks to the fireball the Red Death found the hole the Vikings made, and because of that hole the Red Death was finally able to leave the mountain. As the Red Death got closer to the hole, which started to break apart, Stoick, Sword Walker, and all of the Viking and Pokemon close to it got away from it. "Get clear!" Stoick yelled as everyone got a good distance away from the mountain. Then the Red Death burst out of the hole, and roared with great power. Gobber then said to Stoick. "Beard of Thor! What is that?!"
"Odin help us." Stoick said as he just realized that this was the Red Death, the dragon Hiccup was trying to warn him about. As the Red Death cleared of the rock and dust on its body, Stoick yelled. "Catapults!" The catapults then fired at the Red Death. However those rocks only annoyed the Red Death, not hurt it. The Red Death then started to smash the catapults. As the Red Death was destroying the catapults, a male Viking said. "Get to the ships!"
"No! No!" Stoick yelled as he and Sword Walker tried to stop them. Why? Because the moment the Red Death saw Viking's and Pokemon running and getting onto the ships, it fired a powerful stream of fire at all of the ships. The Vikings and Pokemon were able to dive into the water, so they were safe, but the ships were set ablaze. Toothless was fine, but he was now trapped on a ship that wasn't only fire, but sinking too. Gobber then said to Stoick. "Smart, that one."
"I was a fool." Stoick said to himself. Stoick then turned to a male Viking and said. "Lead everyone to the far side of the island!"
"Right!" The male Viking said and they started to retreat, but Stoick and Sword Walker didn't join them. Gobber and Coal followed them, and Stoick said to Gobber. "Gobber go with the men!"
"I think Coal and I will stay, in case you two are thinking of doing something crazy."
"Sword Walker and I can buy them a few minutes if we give that thing something to hunt!"
"Then we can double that time." Gobber said as he and Coal were ready to help Stoick and Sword Walker, even if that meant the end of them. Stoick smiled and then all of them turned to the Red Death. "Here!" Stoick said as he and Sword Walker charged at the Red Death. "Oh, no! Here!" Gobber said as he and Coal charged at the Red Death too. The Red Death had finished destroying the last of the catapults and was about to start eating Viking's and Pokemon. But it turned to Stoick, Gobber, Sword Walker, and Coal. Because Coal used Tar Shot, which hit a small spot on the right side of its neck. Then Sword Walker used Steel Beam and Coal used Incinerate on that spot, which did cause some damage. The Red Death turned to them and Gobber said to it. "Come on! Fight me!"
"No, me!" Stoick said to the Red Death. The Red Death knew that they were the ones that hurt it, so it was going to attack them. But before the Red Death could attack them, a fire blast hit the back of the Red Death's head. As the Red Death flinched in pain, Stoick saw that Hiccup and his friend flying in on dragons. Eric, Knight and Tera was on Honorstream, naturally, Hiccup, Astrid, Flare, and Spikeball were on the Deadly Nadder, with Knack flying beside, Fishlegs and Sparky was on the Gronckle, Snotlout was on the Monstrous Nightmare, with Hookbalde flying beside them, and the twins plus their Pokemon were on the Hideous Zippleback. Stoick was amazed and Hiccup said to the others. "Ruff, Tuff! Watch your backs! Move, Fishlegs!"
"Look at us! We're on a dragon. We're on dragons! All of us!" Tuffnut said and everyone else was amazed to see the first Dragon Riders in Berks history. "Every bit the boar-headed stubborn Viking you ever were!" Gobber said to Stoick and Stoick agreed. In the air, Hiccup said to Fishlegs. "Fishlegs, break it down!"
"Ok. Heavily armored skull and tail made for bashing and crushing! Steer clear of both. Small eyes, large nostrils! Relies on hearing and smell!" Fishlegs said and Eric said to Hiccup. "So what's the plan?"
"Snotlout, Fishlegs! Hang in its blind spot, make noise, and keep it confused! Eric, find a weak spot! Ruff, Tuff, find out if it has a shot limit! Make it mad!" Hiccup said before Ruffnut said. "That's my specialty!"
"Since when?! Everyone knows I'm more irritating! See?" Tuffnut said as he tried to annoy Ruffnut. "Stop fooling around! We have a battle to win!" Eric said as he slapped Tuffnut, to stop him. Eric then said to Hiccup. "And where are you and Astrid going?"
"I got to find Toothless, I'll be back as soon as I can!" Hiccup said as they flew to the still burning ships. The others then started to fight the Red Death. Tuffnut and Ruffnut then tried insulting the Red Death and their Pokemon used Growl. While the Red Death didn't understand them, it could tell they were threatening it. So it started to shoot fire at them. Fishlegs and Snotlout flew to where the eyes were and started to beat their shield with maces. The Red Death then revealed that it had six eyes. "Um, this thing doesn't have a blind spot!" Fishlegs said and Eric said as he was checking out the underbelly. "Then take out those eyes!"
As for Hiccup, he heard Toothless's roar and saw the boat that Toothless was trapped in. They then landed next to Toothless, and Hiccup jumped off with Flare. As Knack flew close to Hiccup, Hiccup said to Astrid. "Go help the others!" Astrid then flew off to help the others and Hiccup started to free Toothless with the Pokemon's help. They were able to get the muzzle of, but the chain's keeping Toothless trap, now that was a much bigger problem.
Back at the battle, the banging was working, working too well. The banging not only confused the Red Death, but also on their dragon's too. "Guy's stop banging!" Eric said as he noticed the dragons were getting confused. However Eric's warning was too little too late. The Monstrous Nightmare had crashed into the head of the Red Death. Snotlout was shuck on top of the Red Death's head, without any weapons, as the Monstrous Nightmare spiraled away, with Hookblade getting caught in the spiral. As Fishlegs and Sparky were going down, Fishlegs said to Snotlout. "I've lost power on the Gronckle! Snotlout, do something!" Fishlegs then threw Snotlout his mace, before they crashed. Once they crashed to the ground, Fishlegs and Sparky were pinned under the Gronckle. The Red Death then started to move, and Fishlegs, Sparky, and the Gronckle were in its path.
Tera noticed that and then jumped off Honorstream. Tera then turned into his Terastal Form and used Protect. But before the Red Death could step on them, Snotlout started hitting the left eyes with the mace. The attacks caused the Red Death to miss them. "Yeah! You're the Viking!" Astrid said to Snotlout as Tera rejoined Eric. Snotlout was happy, but it was short lived. The Red Death shocked its head and Snotlout almost fell off. Snotlout did drop his mace, but was able to hold on to a spike.
Back on the boat, they were still trying to free Toothless. And to make matters worse, the Red Death, trying to attack the others, hit the mase. It missed them, but the Red Death then stomped on the ship. They were fine, but now Toothless was now stuck underwater. Hiccup, Flare and Knack didn't leave Toothless, and tried to free him. But because they didn't surface and took a breath, all of them to start to drown. And just moments before they totally drowned, Stoick grabbed Hiccup and Sword Walker grabbed Flare and Knack. Toothless roared as Stoick and Sword Walker took them back to the shore. "Dad?" Hiccup said as they caught their breath again, and saw Stoick dive back in. Toothless knew that this was his end, but was surprised to see Stoick. They stared at one another for a short while and then Stoick freed Toothless. Toothless then went to the surface, while dragging Stoick. Once Toothless was on the shore, he dropped Stoick, shock off the water, and roared at Hiccup, letting Hiccup know he was ready to fight. "You got it, bud." Hiccup said as they got onto Toothless. Just before they took off, Stoick stopped them and said. "Hiccup! I'm sorry… for everything."
"Yeah. Me, too."
"You don't have to go up there."
"We're Vikings. It's an occupation hazard."
"I'm proud to call you my son."
"Thanks, Dad." Hiccup said as Toothless took off. Stoick was indeed proud of his son. Astrid and Eric heard Toothless roar, and Astrid said. "He's up!"
"Good! Twins, get Snotlout out of there." Eric said as the twins, who then fought one another, were able to pick Snotlout up. As for the Red Death, it had enough of all of this and used its suction ability to try and eat them. It misses Eric, Honorstream, Knight, and Tera. But it started to suck in Astrid, Spikeball, and the Nadder. Before they entered the mouth of the Red Death, Toothless dive bombed at the Red Death, and hit the back of the neck. The Red Death stopped, but the force of the explosion caused Astrid and Spikeball to fall off. Eric and Hiccup then motioned Toothless and Honorstream to catch them. It worked, with Toothless catching Astrid, and Eric catching Spikeball. After dropping them off, Eric said to Hiccup. "So what's the plan?"
"It has wings. Let's see if it can use them!" Hiccup said as they flew out high and they dive bomb the Red Death. The Red Death fell down, because the dive bomb was a combination of Toothless and Honorstream's breath attack, Knight's Water Gun, Flare's Ember, Knack's Gust, and Tera's Tera Starstorm. The Red Death was now mad and unfolded its wings. Everyone turned their heads back to the Red Death and Hiccup said. "You think that did it?"
"Nope!" Eric said as they saw the Red Death was flying after them, and it was really mad now. "Well, he can fly." Hiccup said before Eric said. "Good for him!" Then they started to fly through the rock pillars. The Red Death followed, breaking every rock pillar in its way. Hiccup then noticed the dark clouds above them, and said to everyone. "All right, guys, time to disappear. Come on!"
"Ok." Eric said as they all flew into the clouds. After dodging a fire breath attack from the Red Death, they reached the clouds and the Red Death lost them. As They were flying around, Eric said to Hiccup. "So what's the plan now?"
"We are going to make the Red Death crash and burn."
"I like that idea." Eric said as they started attacking the Red Death. While staying inside the clouds, Toothless and Honorstream were hitting the wings of the Red Death. On the ground they saw the flashes from Toothless attack on the Red Death. As for the Red Death, it was getting very annoyed, so it unleashed a lot of fire everyone. "Watch out!" Hiccup said as Tera protected Honorstream, Toothless and Knack dodged the flames. Tera then returned to normal, and Hiccup said as Eric returned Tera to his Pokeball. "Is Tera ok?"
"Yes, but I think you have it worse!" Eric said pointing to Toothless tail fin. While Toothless dodged the fire, it still hit his tail, and the tail was getting burned away. Hiccup looked at the tail and said. "Ok, time's up! Let's see if this works." Toothless and Honorstream then drive close to the Red Death's face, catching its attention again. The Red Death tried to eat them, but it missed. The Red Death then followed them and Hiccup said to Toothless as the control over the tail fin was starting to fail. "Stay with me, buddy. We're good. Just a bit longer." The Red Death was tired of Toothless and Honorstream, so it charged up for a fire breath attack to kill them all. "Now!" Hiccup said and they turned around. Toothless and Honorstream fired into the mouth of the Red Death, catching its inside on fire. As the Red Death screamed in pain, it noticed that the ground and that it was going to crash if it didn't slow its descent.
The Red Death then tried to slow its descent, but the damage Toothless and Honorstream did cause its wings to have holes. As the holes got bigger, the Red Death couldn't slow down, and it crashed onto the island. Because of the speed and its inside on fire, the Red Death became a giant explosion. As for Toothless and Honorstream, they had to circle around the Red Death, and that meant they were inside the explosion. Honorstream was able to escape, but not Toothless. Just as they were trying to escape, Toothless lost his tail fin and the Red Death tail hit them, scattering them. "Hiccup!" Eric said as Hiccup was knocked unconscious and fell into the explosion. Toothless, Flare, and Knack then dived into the explosion, to save Hiccup. But after that, their fates were unknown.
