"i'll try to taste one of them," said daniel, putting a piece closer to his mouth. "and see if they would make me normal sized or something."
he took a bite of the piece on his left, and he gulped for a second as possible. his body began rumbling, and scott had looked down to where daniel was.
"you must've tooken the wrong side, buddy," scott told him. daniel rolled his eyes. "yeah, right. i don't need to be very small like you are." he looked at the right of his hand, and the piece on the right got closer to his mouth.
a bite from the karate kid was heard, and he stood up to see what was gonna happen next. his neck was stretching all of a sudden, and his body began rumbling again. scott then looked up to daniel, who was feeling very scared. the boy stopped rumbling once his neck was like he was on the other side of earth.
"where are my shoulders?" daniel asked himself, who had never been so tall before. all he could see was his top, and no sight of his hands or feet were found.
"i feel like a weird serpent," he sniffed. "that had been picked on for being like a loch ness monster, or telling a story of a probation incident that went off in some weird place, man."
scott had to sit on one of the mushrooms, thinking of what was about to happen to his friend. daniel then heard shrieking noises coming from one of the trees, and he felt like he was getting pecked again.
"SERPENT!" called a pigeon, pecking on the karate kid's black hair. daniel felt a bit of anxiousness in his body, and he felt a little bit of water coming in his eyes.
"can you please stop pecking me?" he told the pigeon. "i ain't no serpent." the pigeon flew back to its nest. "are you really?" it asked.
"no!" daniel yelled out. the pigeon felt its body twitching, as if it were to start choking. it coughed out a few worms that it had taken for the babies, and looked up to the large boy in a worried expression.
"i'm about to choke, help me," it called. daniel looked down to the nest, smiling. "where are my babies, man?" asked the pigeon.
daniel has never seen eggs from a bird's nest, neither has scott. "i haven't seen no eggs," he answered. the pigeon flew up to the boy's nose.
"no, it does not mean to," it said in a mad but frustrating tone. "you stole my eggs, and that's all. NOW THEY'RE GONE!" daniel whipped a few tears that were rolling down his face. "listen up, man," he told the bird, telling up for his own chance. "i am not a serpent, and i am not taking any of your eggs!" the bird flew down to its nest again as daniel continued, "especially your eggs.. if you don't mind, i have a tongue."
the pigeon went silent for a few seconds, and daniel had to wipe out tears that were still in his eyes and running down his cheeks. the two stood at themselves for 14 seconds, until the pigeon spoke.
"you must hurt yourself down," it said. "or i think." it looked inside its nest. "i can see only two that look like yours."
"you wanna know something?" daniel asked. "i used to see eggs in a store all the time, man, i haven't see one just now. you oughta seen eggs that hatch out of your nest and they come in millions of feathers."
"eggs and babies are the one things," the pigeon said. "and you are a serpent."
"i ain't no serpent," daniel repeated. "i'm a.. i'm a.."
"what are you?"
"i'm actually a 17 year old boy that came from new jersey," daniel finished. "if you don't know me, scott will not let me see you no more."
he bit the right of his hand again, and he began rumbling again, and his neck was becoming short at the moment. however, he was still small when he stopped rumbling.
"what was all of that yelling out there?" scott asked daniel. "a pigeon calling me a serpent, and telling me i stole her eggs." daniel answered, holding his hands into his chest as if he was feeling cold.
but then he had realized that he needed to be back to his normal size as usual, so he tried eating any bit of the pieces on his hands, sometimes taller, sometimes shorter, but had keeped the way his height is now. 5 feet and 4 inches tall.
"scott, it's your turn," daniel said, dropping a piece onto scott's hand.
scott bit a piece of it, and had started rumbling until he was about up to his usual size. 5 feet and 5 inches tall, an inch taller than daniel.
"now mister," daniel said, walking to a path where chozen had went. "what we need now is to get to that hole that looked like a garden or somewhat." scott nodded his head, and they started to run a little faster.
a few minutes daniel was sitting on a rock, as he was freezing after falling into small puddles.
"why are you sitting here?" scott asked, stopping for a moment.
"i stopped plenty of times," daniel told him. "if there is a house with a change of clothing i oughta need one right now."
he then stood up again, trying to look for a house with a change of clothing. there was a little house that stood at 6 and 1/2 feet tall.
"well," daniel said, turning to scott.
"you found one?" scott asked.
"yeah, it's about a half a mile to walk there," daniel smiled.
the two boys ran off to a path that took them to the 6 foot tall house that daniel mentioned earlier. they knocked on the door when they stopped.
scott looked inside a window to see that there was a cook inside, 2 toddlers, and a baby. he turned to the karate kid, who was looking underneath the door.
daniel turned to scott again and stood up. the door flew open and to their guesses, it was a man who had opened the door.
"what do you two want?" he asked the two boys.
"i just needed to know if there's a change of clothing inside there," daniel told him.
the man took the two boys inside, only to see what the room looked like. a cook was throwing off cans of pepper and dishes onto the ground. a duchess was holding a 4-month-old baby, who was crying obviously. the 2 toddlers were both running around the room as usual, as the man told them toddlers always act like that.
besides the living room and the kitchen, there were 3 other doors, but scott and daniel managed to take a seat on the couch to hang out.
"MORE PEPPER! MORE PEPPER THAN ME SAY, COOK!" the cook yelled, as a metallic plate crashed onto a wall. the living room was beginning to fill with smoke, and the two boys had to cover their noses.
beside the duchess and the baby was a cat that had yellow fur and orange stripes. scott knew that it had seem so familiar to see a cat that he had not seen before in his life.
"can you tell me why she's throwing dishes?" he asked the duchess.
"because she might be running out of supplies for the food she needs," the duchess spoke.
"well that was kinda stupid for her," daniel thought. "for throwing dishes on the ground, and breaking glass plates that the toddlers could've gotten cuts on."
the man walked back into the living room and sat beside the duchess. the cat was grinning by then, and no one noticed.
"wonder why he's grinning like that," said scott, who had never seen a animal grin before.
"i don't know either, go ask one of them," daniel told him.
"excuse me, sir," scott said to the duchess. "but why does your cat grin like that?"
the duchess tried to think of an answer, but she had closed her mouth a few times. a few seconds of consciousness later, she finally answered.
"because we call it a cheshire cat."
scott turned back to daniel. the man smiled and walked towards them. "i have a heirloom that i wanna share for you," he told the two boys as they stood up.
"hey, buck, no," the duchess said before getting interrupted by a door creak.
the man and the two boys walked into their oldest son's bedroom.
the oldest son had brown hair, brown eyes, had a necklace on him, a pair of jeans on him, and white, fluffy socks. he was watching tv when the boys got beside his bed.
"hey, dallas," said the man to the son. "i would like for you to take care of these boys." scott and daniel sat on the oldest son's bed.
"hey," scott greeted. "look like you're having fun watching ain't ya?"
the oldest son nodded. "i watched tv on a daily basis," he said.
"you forgot to tell us your name," said daniel.
"name's dallas winston," the boy said, standing up.
"i fell into some puddles when we ran," daniel said, taking his white shirt off. "mr. miyagi could've gave me a cleaner shirt than that."
"take that coat off, would you, man?" said dallas, opening up a drawer of shirts. scott watched as daniel zipped his coat off.
dallas had threw a shirt onto daniel's lap and the karate kid had putted it on. "let's talk about your current life," said the oldest son.
"my family's going on a vacation to nevada on thursday," scott said. "my siblings had never went, including me."
"i just saw him when he stood up," daniel said. "and i became friends with him too."
"we need to get to that hole that looked like a garden," said scott. "and there might be some directions."
dallas had thinked of many ways of how the two boys were gonna get out to that hole. "listen," he said. "go through a forest, then you'll never know if you see someone random, just pass on."
the boys had heard what he had said and had looked at themselves for a second.
"i thought you two were from new york," dallas said, turning around, then turning back. "i'll see ya later."
the two boys ran to the living room again as daniel zipped his coat on. "you need to take the baby, too," said the duchess, holding the baby to daniel's arms. "he needs feeding, too."
the troubled son opened the door and continued running off to another direction and daniel ran too.
"well, if i said something before," daniel said to himself. "at least things couldn't get worse."
