Chapter 2: Grand Re-Opening
"Trevorrrrr! Nooooo!" Benji cried while trying to reach out over the edge.
Benji woke up in a really frightful state with tears again. This time, he started doing a breathing exercise to calm himself down.
Breathe innn, then outtt. Just breathe innn, and outtt. He started reasoning to himself as he kept trying to center himself.
"BRRRINGGG! BRRRIIINGG!"
Benji's alarm on his phone went off and he groaned as he got out of bed. Today was the day that he could maybe stop this never-ending nightmare. He knows that the journey with moving on from the incident will be tough, but it's just he needed a solution to help the memory go away. Benji made himself coffee and breakfast. Today he made an omelet with some sausage and toast on the side. He started pondering about solutions, and started looking though his desk and computer just for that.
More advice from Dr. Kimberly?, Benji thought to himself. No I don't want to disrupt her schedule, she might be busy. He scratched his head a bit and then starts researching on his desktop computer. A self-help seminar? No, I can't sit still for the life of me. Hmm, healing crystals? I don't know about that one, to be honest. Join a support group? Definitely a maybe on that. Ugh! why can't I decide on a solution? Benji angrily thought to himself, getting frustrated with thinking about solutions, and slammed his fist onto the desk. This made a couple of papers shuffle around. One of them had caught his attention. It was the flier that he grabbed from the mall stand yesterday, talking about the job opening for the revamped pizzeria. If this pizzeria keeps popping up at the most convenient times, then I think this is a sign to go there. Benji kept thinking to himself, pondering over the flier. He looked at the time on his phone, it was noon!
"Shit! I've got to get ready to go to this walk-in interview!" Benji said out loud to himself, while putting his dishes in the dishwasher.
Benji ran upstairs to get ready, but almost tripped on the way up. He showered, brushed his teeth, and got dressed to go to the grand re-opening for the pizzeria. The outfit for today was the one chosen he bought yesterday at the mall. Benji felt really accomplished with this fashionable outfit that he picked out while looking at himself in the mirror. Then, he clasped on the silver and teal diamond bracelet and put on the moon necklace as well. He grabbed his phone, put on the purple cardigan, and went out to his car. Benji pulled up the address on the GPS on his phone, started the car, and headed off to the pizzeria.
"I'm glad that it's not too far." Benji muttered to himself sarcastically because he was kind of nervous about what's to come.
He looked at the GPS on his phone, it read 4 miles until the destination. When he was on his way to the pizzeria, he noticed that it was more towards the edge of town where there was more space in between places. Hmm, I wonder why that is, Benji thought to himself. A couple minutes later, and after a couple of more turns, he finally arrived to the pizzeria's location. The pizzeria looked really big on the outside! The parking lot as well! What was funny, however, barely anyone was here yet. Benji checked the time, it was 12:52 pm. Where was everyone?, he thought to himself very confused. He decided to wait in the car, but as soon as it was 12:58, there were cars coming into the parking lot left and right! Benji got out so he could find the new owner before it gets crowded in the establishment. He found that he couldn't have gotten to the doors faster than everyone else because people were rushing through the doors with a lot of excitement. Benji had to take a step back, so he wouldn't get trampled on. There was a lot to take in! Well it did look like the pizzeria that Benji went to in his very early childhood, however, there were some changes to its layout. The arcade was slightly bigger, there was a small playground, and it looked like Foxy got his own room for Pirate's Cove instead of just a stage! Benji stood in awe from the nostalgia of the pizzeria, but then something caught his eye. There were a pair of doors like the ones to the dining room next to the arcade, but they were kind of blocked off with a curtain and some boards. Hmm, interesting, Benji thought to himself quizzically. He was quickly pulled out of his thoughts when the crowd started getting excited and cheering. On the new stage, a man emerged from the curtains dressed quite stylish. He wore a blue half-zip pullover sweater and a pair of khaki pants.
"Hello there I'm the new owner of this pizzeria and my name is Scott Carthon!" The man said while smiling into the microphone, and with a bunch of enthusiasm.
The crowd in the new pizzeria cheered, clapped and smiled as the new owner started doing the announcements.
"As you can see, the pizzeria has been revamped and changed for a bigger and better chance to be successful! Also, there's something else that I'd love to show you all!" Scott exclaimed.
You could tell that the people in the audience were getting really excited to see the surprise.
"Your favorite animatronics have also been upgraded and refurbished to be safer here! You guys wanna see them?" he asked with tons of excitement.
"YES!" the crowd shouted with joy in response.
"Okay you guys come on out!" Scott told whoever was behind the curtains in Pirate's Cove in excitement.
The purple curtains shifted a bit, and out walked the animatronics one by one. Benji's jaw literally almost dropped onto the floor. They were like the ones before, but they looked brand new even! No missing parts, no exposed endoskeletons, and they had a bit of a shine to them as well! The crowd went wild, and the famous animatronics started waving and smiling at the people in front of the stage.
"As you noticed they can still walk around when they're not performing their songs.", Scott said, "They do have some upgrades as well, like protecting the children if needed, and to help with any customer needs in any area of the pizzeria. Only where there are customers though."
Most of the parents were amazed and definitely impressed by the safety upgrades to the animatronics. There were, however, some murmurs between some parents in the crowd. Especially where Benji was standing, whispering about Fazbear Entertainment and its past horrors that went on in the past decade or so.
"I know that there were a lot of unsavory things that happened in the past, but we are moving past that by putting ourselves back into the positive lights of a new stage!" Scott happily explained to the crowd.
The people of the audience in the pizzeria agreed with the explanation of moving forward.
"Well, let's get this pizza party started! The cooks in the kitchen have made a lot of pizza for everyone here to enjoy! Make sure to take plenty!" Scott smiled and gestured to the cooks, waiters and waitresses almost done getting the tables filled with pizza.
The crowd of people cheered and everyone scattered around the pizzeria. Most of the people went to grab some slices of pizza, including Benji. He was still kind of hungry from earlier, so he grabbed a slice of cheese and a slice of sausage. Benji decided to eat by himself in a corner booth, so he could eat quickly and then find Mr. Carthon for the interview. He finished eating pretty fast, threw away his trash, and went to go find the owner. There were kids running around on the indoor playground and playing on the arcade machines, the parents were chatting with each other at the tables, and Foxy was even telling a story to the group of kids that went to Pirate's Cove. Benji, however, couldn't find Mr. Carthorn in the sea of people and animatronics in the pizzeria.
He went up to a hostess that worked there, and asked her, "Do you know where Mr. Carthorn went?"
"Oh yeah he went into his office to finish some paperwork!" the hostess replied happily.
"Do you know where his office is?" Benji asked sheepishly.
"Yeah, it's down by the security office!" she answered while pointing down one of the hallways.
"Thanks!" he smiled.
"No problem!" the hostess smiled back while walking away to help a customer.
Benji walked down the right hallway for a bit and he until he saw Mr. Carthorn's office to the left. He knocked onto the office door to see if the owner was in there.
"Come in please!" Mr. Carthorn said while looking through papers on his desk.
Benji walked into the office, a little bit nervous, even though there wasn't anyone else in the room.
"H-Hi I'm Benji and I'm here for the interview for being the night security guard." Benji stammered a bit.
"Well hello there I'm Scott, and to be honest I didn't think anyone would show up or be interested in the position." Scott smiled while he stuck out his hand.
"O-Oh yeah." Benji replied with a slight smile and shook Scott's hand.
"Well, let me ask you a few questions then Benji." Scott stated.
"Okay." Benji said while sitting down in the chair across from Scott.
"You're ok with being a night owl here?" Scott asked jokingly.
"Hehe, of course!" Benji replied with a smile and giggled.
"Ok good, what makes you a good teammate?" Scott questioned Benji.
"Well, I'm reliable, I respect everyone around me, and I can be very flexible with anything that the team needs." Benji answered the question honestly.
"That's very great! We need more people like that." Scott smiled, gave Benji a wink and laughed.
Benji shook his head, and Scott just laughed even more.
"Ok last question, what made you want to work here at the pizzeria?" Scott asked quizzically.
Oh man, Benji thought to himself, This is a kind of hard of question because I can't really tell him the whole truth. Especially with what has happened in the recent past.
"Well, I wanted to work where I had some of the best childhood memories, to be honest." Benji responded kind of nervously.
"That's great!" Scott exclaimed with a big smile.
"Of course." Benji smiled back at Scott.
"Good news, I've made a decision already!" Scott suddenly exclaimed happily.
"Yeah, what is it?" Benji curiously asked him.
"From what I've heard, and that nobody else showed up all day, you're hired!" Scott smiled.
"Oh my gosh thanks!" Benji exclaimed.
"You'll be starting at seventeen dollars an hour, and make sure to come on time ok?" Scott stated.
"Yeah it won't be a problem at all." Benji replied as he got up from the chair.
"Good. Now I got to finish this paperwork." Scott said kind of frustrated.
"Ok, see you later Scott!" Benji smiled as he left and closed the door behind him.
"I think he'll definitely be a great addition to our team." Scott chuckled to himself.
The grand re-opening event was starting to die down, even though Benji noticed that the animatronics were still with groups of kids playing and laughing. Benji checked the time; 4 PM. He had some time to kill before he needed to nap before his first shift here at the pizzeria.
"Hmm, maybe I should just get something to eat and go home and play some games." Benji thought to himself as he was walking out the doors.
However, he didn't notice that Freddy was watching him leave and glaring at him. Also, when Benji was outside of the building he heard a childlike laugh behind him! He turned around, but nobody was there! Benji shivered at the thought of someone or something watching him. He got into his car and drove off of the parking lot.
Benji got home after stopping at Raising Cane's because he was in the mood for some chicken and Texas toast tonight. There was the taste of their chicken that just hits the spot when you're in the mood for it. When he was all ready he booted up his computer to play some Dead By Daylight. The first game that he played he was a survivor and he was facing The Huntress killer with three other players. As the game went on, the other players kept getting hooked and then end up dying from the Entity. Benji managed to escape at the last minute. He played a few more games while finishing up his food. After he was finished, Benji changed into some shorts so he could wash his outfit for later. When the load in the washer was finished, Benji threw the clothes into the dryer. He set an alarm for 11 pm, laid down and took his well deserved nap.
