Chapter 604 Good News, Bad News
"
David Hale was about to make the biggest arrests of his career and it had practically fallen into his lap. Once Eric started talking even after he'd been read his rights, he wouldn't shut up. His anger at Carl Namid fueled him to spill his guts.
Eric was more than willing to wear a wire. He got Dr. Namid to spill his guts on everything from killing Tara to killing babies who were going to die soon to selling baby body parts.
Hale wanted to make the arrests at St. Thomas to maximize the humiliation for Carl Namid and his hospital henchwoman Margaret Murphy. It would give the hospital staff something fun to talk and speculate about for days.
As Carl and Margaret were being escorted down a hall in the police department, a woman got heavily to her feet assisted by Candy Eglee and a pair of crutches.
She walked over to him and stood in front of him.
"Good news and bad news. Good news you won't be charged with killing me. Bad news I'm still alive and turned over my research on your illegal activities to the police."
Eglee opened the door for Tara as she left the police department.

Author's Note: There are certain writing tropes that I've always wanted to use and the faking someone's death has always been one of them. No one seemed to care that Tara was killed and I doubt anyone will care that she isn't really dead. It was an option line for me; she could live or she could die and it wouldn't change my overall plot either way since she's not a main character and I don't need her alive to wrap the St. Thomas Dr. Namid/Margaret/Eric plot.
As far as selling baby parts, hopefully that doesn't happen, but selling body parts does. I'm not talking about the urban myth of someone waking up in a tub filled with ice and a note saying they had a kidney removed. A morgue manager at Harvard Medical School has been accused of stealing body parts and selling them. His wife pled guilty to her part. The husband, Cedric Lodge, is accused of stealing donated bodies and selling heads, skin, bones and even brains. He allegedly allowed buyers into the morgue to pick out what they wanted. His trial is scheduled for August 2024 and there are civil suits against him and Harvard from the families whose loved ones donated their bodies. Lodge is no longer the morgue manager at Harvard Medical School. You can Google for additional information, but it shows that crazy plot stuff can actually happen.
