Harley slowly came into consciousness. He soon found himself at a hospital on Rygel 7. The knife wound he'd sustained to the back of his neck was relatively minor. It cut into but didn't sever the spinal cord. He could thankfully still move his limbs somewhat. The human boy was on a hospital bed with an IV. The back of Harley Keener's neck was bandaged. His sister Emily was in the hospital room with him along with Bucky and Jenny. They were very concerned about their friend's well being. Both of them seriously thought that Harley was going to die when the knife shot of the machine and hit Harley's neck while he was trying to save a duckling from being killed by the knife throwing machine at the pirate bar in Rygel 7. They were both glad to hear that Harley would be okay.
"What happened?" Harley said groggily as he slowly awoke. He saw his sister Emily, Bucky O'Hare and Jenny standing around him in the hospital bed.
"Glad you're okay." Emily said to her brother. "I thought that knife wound to the back of your neck would cause you to become possibly paralyzed!"
"I thought you were dead." Bucky said. "The nurse said that there was a chance that the knife could've severed your spinal cord."
"Did you guys get the treaty signed yet?" Harley asked Bucky and Jenny.
"We're working on that. Deadeye and Redjack have to participate in some sort of contest. If Deadeye wins, we can sign the treaty. But if Redjack wins, we won't be able to sign the treaty, which sucks because the treaty allows them to be able to fight alongside the toads and they'll be free to roam the Aniverse." Bucky explained to Harley.
"Let's hope Deadeye wins the contest so that the treaty can be signed." Harley said. Bucky, Emily and Jenny left Harley to recuperate from the injury he sustained at the back of his neck he got while trying to save a duckling from being killed by the knife throwing machine at the pirate bar.
Meanwhile, on board a luxury space cruiser, a group of toads were getting ready to disguise themselves as versions of Harley Keener, his sister Emily and Deadeye. The toad's plan was to rob the occupants of the ship of their valuables and money. They figured that if the toads were to disguise themselves as Harley Keener, his sister and Deadeye, then the UAC council would be less likely to trust them to be the sign the treaty that they needed to sign. The toads were paid by Al Negator to disguise themselves as Harley, Deadeye and Emily to rob the occupants of the ship of their valuables and simoleans.
The star cruiser was filled with various anthropomorphic animal patrons seated at various tables. The floor is blue. At one of the tables sat Grebb and Harman who were talking amongst themselves. They had serious doubts that Bucky could trust the Corsair Canairds with keeping their end of the deal when it came to signing the treaty. Grebb didn't trust pirates. Pirates were known to steal valuable items from people. They had a notorious reputation that was fearsome as it was adventurous. That's one of the reasons why Grebb had doubts about whether or not the Corsair Canairds would want to sign the treaty or not.
"This is the same sector of space which O'Hare trapped the Corsair Canairds in. Doesn't that bother you?" Grebb said to Harman.
"Surely you don't think." the walrus started to say before he was interrupted by a group of three people who'd suddenly barged in unannounced. Two of them were human beings while the other one was a Corsair Canaird. They bore an uncanny resemblance to Harley Keener and his sister Emily while the other one resembled Deadeye. Only this wasn't the real Harley and Emily Keener and Deadeye. They were toads masquerading as them. The real Harley Keener was recuperating at a hospital on Rygel 7 following a knife wound to the back of his neck in the pirate bar, the real Deadeye was teaming up against Redjack to shoot clay pigeons in an arena and the real Emily Keener was at the hospital with her brother. No one on the ship knew that these three people were toads in disguises.
"Everybody put your freaking hands in the air right now or you all will be fried like crispy fried chicken! Give us all your shit right now!" the impostor Harley Keener said to the people on the ship, who all had their hands up in the air like they were about to be arrested by the police. The fake Harley and Deadeye all held maser pistols in their hands. They slowly started to move toward the various terrified animals of the ship. Grebb was outraged at the sudden intrusion.
"How dare you barge in here unannounced and demand for people's valuable items?! This is a violation on your word of the treaty!" Grebb yelled at the fake Harley. The fake Harley shoved a maser pistol into Grebb's terrified face.
"Does it look like we give a shit about signing that treaty? No. We don't. I'll take that treaty and rip it to shreds like confetti! Now I suggest you give me your shit or things will be very ugly." the fake Harley threatened the jackal. One of the other disguised toads roughly yanked a jewel-encrusted necklace from a female poodle.
"Give me that necklace!" the toad disguised as Emily Keener said to the female poodle.
"I paid a fair amount of money to have that necklace!" the female poodle said.
"I DON'T GIVE A SHIT HOW MUCH YOU PAID FOR THAT NECKLACE, IT'S MINE NOW!" the toad disguised as Emily yelled at the female poodle before laughing creully. The other toad disguised as Deadeye was busy trying to get a wristwatch off a frightened patron."Give me that watch!" The fake Deadeye said as he snatched the wristwatch away from the person. Once the disguised toads were done robbing the people on the ship of their valuables, they reported back to their leader, the toad disguised as Harley Keener with all of the valuable items that they stole from the people on the ship. The two toads give the items to their leader.
"Hell yeah, that's what I'm talking about." the Harley imposter said upon seeing all of the gems and money that he and his crew had stolen. The Harley imposter turned his attention to the walrus sitting next to Grebb. He wasn't actually a walrus. It was in reality a robotic suit worn by a newt who was a paid informer of the toads to pose as the chairman of the United Animal Coalition of the planet Genus.
"You, walrus guy. I'd like to chat with you for a minute." The fake Harley said to Harman.
"Why do you want to talk to the chairman for?" Grebb asked the Harley imposter.
"It's none of your business." the Harley imposter said to Grebb. The walrus followed the three disguised toads to a secluded area of the ship away from prying eyes. Grebb tried to stop them but the Harley imposter told one of his men to keep Grebb at bay so that he couldn't eavesdrop or interfere with their conversation with the newt informant that was masquerading as the chairman of the United Animal Coalition.
"How has things been going so far?" the Harley imposter asked the newt.
"Great. No one knows that I'm posing as the chairman of the UAC." the newt said.
"Good. As long as no one knows that you're posing as the chairman of the United Animal Coalition, then everything will be okay. Now if you'll excuse me, me and my crew have to report back to Al Negator about the valuable riches we stole from the people on the ship." the toad disguised as Harley said before he and his crew left to tell Al Negator about their successful robbery.
Meanwhile at an arena on Kanopis 3, Deadeye and Redjack were shooting clay pigeons from midair. Harley had previously taught Deadeye how to shoot clay pigeons on the video game Duck Hunt on the Nintendo Entertainment System using the system's light gun accessory the NES Zapper. If you're not familiar with the game Duck Hunt, Duck Hunt is an insanely popular shooting video game where players used the NES Zapper to shoot ducks and clay pigeons. A Saint Bernard catches any ducks the player kills. If the player missed their shots at either the ducks or the clay pigeons, the Saint Bernard will laugh at the player. Deadeye soon got the hang of playing Duck Hunt, even reaching a high score. Harley also taught Deadeye how to play other first person shooter games like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D on his computer.
Deadeye and Redjack shot at the clay pigeons. Deadeye felt like he was playing a level of Duck Hunt in real life. Harley was in the audience cheering him on. The Corsair Cainards were kind enough to let him go with Deadeye and Redjack to the event after he almost risked his life to protect a duckling from being killed by a knife in the bar. Harley could walk again. Harley had no idea that someone was impersonating him elsewhere and that Commander Dogstar was ordered to apprehend him.
Suddenly, he heard Jenny's voice ring out from inside his head. He took the Memory Stone from within his pocket. Harley was a bit upset that Jenny was interrupting his moment of excitement in the Corsair Cainard clan meet. That was the last thing he wanted or needed right now. He tried ignoring Jenny's telepathic demands for the time being to enjoy the show. By now, Deadeye and Redjack had moved on from shooting clay pigeons to arm wrestling. Harley watched intensely, wanting to know who would win the arm wrestling competition. Deadeye was struggling to turn over Redjack's arm.
A few minutes later, Harley heard Jenny's telepathic demand again through the Memory Stone that was starting to get on his nerves. He was trying to enjoy a exciting match between two Corsair Cainards arm wrestling. Harley couldn't take it anymore and decided to see what was so important that Jenny had to constantly interrupt him using her telepathic powers.
"What the fuck is so important that you have to interrupt me?" Harley asked Jenny.
"Sorry for the interruption. There's something that needs your attention. People are saying that a toad has impersonated you and that said imposter stole a bunch of things from various people on a ship." Jenny said to Harley. Harley was mortified upon hearing that. It was bad enough that a toad spy had previously swapped bodies with him a few weeks ago that almost led to Bucky O'Hare kicking Harley out of his crew. Now it was happening again. It was the last thing that he wanted to deal with.
"Oh hell no." Harley said to Jenny. "I'll be over at Rygel 7 as soon as possible." Harley stood up and walked over to where Deadeye and Redjack were arm wrestling at. Deadeye had managed to win the arm wrestling competition. Harley tapped Deadeye in the shoulder.
"We need to get out of here. Someone impersonated me and he is causing trouble. We need to go Rygel 7." Harley told Deadeye.
"I can't, me boy. If I leave now, I'll lose the challenge." Deadeye said.
"How many more challenges do you have to do?" Harley asked Deadeye.
"A couple more challenges." Deadeye said to Harley.
"I got an idea How about Deadeye and Redjack knock a mug of swampgrass off of Blackbeak's hands. Whoever knocks over the mug first wins." Harley suggested.
"Aye... a test to see which one of us is quicker to learn a new skill instead of repeating the same old ones." Deadeye said.
"Exactly. And I know just the item to use to knock a mug of swampgrass off of Blackbeak's hands." Harley said before reaching into his bag and pulling out a boomerang. A boomerang is something one throws that comes back to them depending on how far they far it and how fast they flick their wrist. Harley has owned a boomerang for many years. He mainly used it as target practice at his backyard in the summertime where he and his sister often played catch with it. Lanelle explained the rules for the human: if he throws the boomerang at one of the mugs of swampgrass that Blackbeak was holding and manages to knock it over, he would win the competition.
"What manner of weapon is that?" asked Redjack.
"It's what you call a boomerang. It's not really a weapon per se. The idea is that you throw it and depending on how you throw it, it'll came back to you." Harley explained to the four armed duck.
"I don't know how to throw a boomerang." Redjack said.
"Watch and learn my friend." Harley said before he got into position to throw the boomerang at the Corsair Cainard holding four mugs of swampgrass. He aimed the boomerang carefully. He'd learned how to throw a boomerang from watching Batman throw his batarangs at criminals on movies and TV. His right arm touched his left shoulder. He then swung his arm at an arc as he let go of the boomerang. The boomerang flew toward the mug of swampgrass. Unfortunately, the boomerang flew above the mug of swampgrass and returned back to Harley who caught it as it flew toward him. He then tried again to throw the boomerang at the mug of swampgrass that Blackbeak was holding. He aimed and threw the boomerang at the mug of swampgrass. Luckily for him, the boomerang hit the mag before ricocheting and accidentally knocking out one of the spectators in the audience. The mug of swampgrass knocked over and spilled on the duck. Harley couldn't believe that he had won the competition for Deadeye and Redjack. The human boy catched the boomerang as it flew back to him.
The audience was cheering and appluading Harley for using the boomerang to knock over a mug of swampgrass out of the Corsair Cainards hands. Redjack congratulated Harley for beating him and winning the competition for him znd Deadeye.
"You beat me fair and true. Maybe it's time I change my ways." Redjack said.
"That's the spirit! If you become a nice person, you'll get all the ladies." Harley said to Redjack who laughed at his statement. Harley put the boomerang back into his bag. Harley, Deadeye and Emily all went back to Rygel 7. Once they have arrived at the pirate hideout on Rygel 7, Jenny explained the situation to Harley. She asked him where he was when the impostor version of him had stolen the valuables from the people on the ship and if it was him who had committed the theft. Harley vehemently denied those accusations and he along with Deadeye and Emily confirmed that he was at the clan meet the whole time and never left the arena.
"My brother is not like that. He would never steal from anybody. Emily said.
"Then someone's out to sabotage us and I intend to find out who." Bucky said. Suddenly Captain Dogstar appeared to try and wrongfully arrest Harley for a crime he didn't commit at a place where he wasn't at.
"Harley Keener, it is my painful duty to arrest you in the name of the United Animals Coalition." Dogstar told Harley.
"Arrest me for what? I didn't do anything wrong!" Harley angrily said to Dogstar.
"The United Animals Coalition have reported that you along with a few other people robbed the patrons on a ship called the Stellar Swan." Dogstar explained to the human boy. Harley couldn't believe that someone would accuse him of robbing people on the Stellar Swan when he would never do that in a million years. It wasn't like Harley to rob innocent people.
"Are you freaking kidding me? I was nowhere near there. I was at the Corsair Cainard clan meet the whole time with Deadeye and my sister Emily. They'll vouch for me." Harley said.
"He's telling the truth. Harley was at the clan meet with me and Deadeye the whole time. I know my brother better than anyone. Harley would never steal from innocent people. He's not like that." Emily explained to Dogstar.
"Someone was impersonating me and I don't like it! Somebody tried doing that shit to me a few weeks ago when a toad spy swapped bodies with me. I almost got myself kicked out of Bucky's team by Bucky himself because he mistakenly assumed I was betraying him and his crew to work for the toads. He didn't know that a toad spy had swapped bodies with me and that the toad spy was controlling my actions. Luckily, I managed to successfully get my body back from the toad spy who had taken it away from me. I say we find out who the fuck is trying to impersonate me and why they're doing it. My guess it's the exact same toad spy who had previously swapped bodies with me." Harley said.
The crew of the Righteous Indignation then formulated a plan to find out who impersonated Harley and why they were doing it to rob innocent people in his image.
