Author's Note: Hello, fellow readers! I'm back with another One-Shot! This time it talks about Audrey and the beginning her slow-resentment to the VKs. As you all remembered, Audrey was feeling the pressure of being the next Queen of Auradon by her family in Descendants 3 and after Mal was proposed, that was when Audrey went on her villain era. I, however, thought I might add in a storyline that leads to the events of Descendants 3. It took me a while, but I'm finally finished with it and I hope you all like it as much as I do! So sit back, relax and enjoy reading!
Audrey of the Ball
Auradon Prep, Thursday 7pm
With 2 weeks of exams fast approaching, more and more students put more effort into learning as much as they can before Exams Week takes place. Students will either prefer to study alone or with a group, like say our fellow VKs. Mal, Evie, Jay, Carlos, Freddie and Quincy are now in Mal and Evie's room where they know they won't be disturbed. Mal and Jay are working hard to quiz each other for their History Exam, Evie and Carlos study each other's notes from their Geography Exam and Freddie and Quincy does practice exams for their Math Exams.
"So next question, who raised Mowgli?" Jay said.
He looked up to Mal to see she was drifting her sights to the ceiling, like she was in her own world.
"Mal?" Jay asked.
She still didn't hear him.
"Mal!" Jay yelled.
That got her out of her trance. "What?"
"Who raised Mowgli?" Jay asked once more.
"A pack of wolves, but only after he was found by Bagheera." Mal answered.
"That's right." Jay said. "You ok? You've been a bit distracted lately."
"Yeah, can't say I'm focused on finals when something is going on at this school. I can't pinpoint where is coming from." Mal said.
"Yeah, after that thing with Herkie, Fairy Godmother brought out her wand to investigate the situation. Even Ben's trying to his best to help with the situation." Jay said.
"I figured she bring out that thing out already after my incident." Freddie said. "Cause that seems like a big thing to me."
"You weren't sucking out people's life force." Quincy said.
"True, I just lifted people in the air."
"So did she managed to get anything off of Herkie?" Evie asked Mal.
"That's the thing, After Herkie was cured, it's like whatever the magical energy that was messing with his mind dissipated as soon as he was back to normal." Mal said.
"Freaky!" Quincy said.
"You said it, I've even been keeping a close eye on Dude for a good while now." Carlos said.
"With him talking and briefly having powers, there's no telling what else will go on with that dog." Quincy said.
"By the way, you still got me for my appointment later on?" Carlos asked Quincy.
"Of course!" Quincy said. "You definitely need a trim anyways."
"I've been busy."
"So have we, but at least we took care of our selves. Stress causes split ends."
"I don't think they do."
"Agree to disagree. Tomorrow at 5pm, don't forget." Quincy reminded Carlos.
"Already on my calendar." Carlos said.
Suddenly, Quincy got a surprise text from one of his favorite clients.
"Quincy! 911 emergency. I need my hair did as early as you can before Saturday! Please tell you have space in your time?" Audrey text said.
Thinking about what his time is like, he texted, "Lemme check my schedule. I'll text you back as soon as I can!"
"Hmm." Quincy wondered.
Friday, 12pm
It was lunch time for Quincy's lunch period and he's already sitting down having a sandwich. As he was enjoying his lunch, he's met with a slam on his table. It was Audrey slamming her bag on the table and she sits down on the seat next to Quincy and she was looking frantic from the looks of it.
"Oh, hey Audrey. I meant to get back with ya." Quincy said.
"So can you fix up my hair? My family's doing this event that's this weekend and I wanted to look good."
"Oh yeah, Queen Leah's social gathering thing." Quincy said
"That's the one. I have to make a good impression cause she's bringing over royals from other kingdoms, old friends of hers and she's wants me to look my best in front of them, despite not being First Lady of the Court." Audrey said.
"Yeah, honestly, that's gotta suck, just living up to her expectations." Quincy said.
"More than that, it's all I have." Audrey said.
"I can understand if you remember my mom being the Queen of Hearts. How she would have all these expectations and rules for me on how to be the perfect prince." Quincy said.
"Oh right, I forgot you're technically the prince of Wonderland." Audrey said.
"Yeah, heck I haven't even been there yet, but it's my birthright apparently." Quincy said.
"Guess it's people like us with something in common."
"I never would've guessed."
"Appearances can be deceiving."
"Don't I know it?"
Audrey smiled, then giggled at the same time as Quincy. After settling down, Audrey then asks, "So you think you can hook me up with a new do?"
"Sure, I already ran this with Pin and he said that I got room for my schedule for you."
"Thank you so much!" Audrey said hugging Quincy said.
She lets go of him and grabs her bag before heading out. "I got to got pick out a dress!"
Quincy just smiled as she went on her merry way.
Saturday Morning, 9 am.
Like clockwork, Quincy's already washing Audrey's hair and gets her hair in a towel as soon as he was done. He then gets out his styling tools to prepare for Audrey's new hairstyle. Quincy brings out a magazine with the latest hairstyles and gives it to Audrey as a reference to what she's going for. She flips through the magazine while Quincy's taking a call from Pin.
"Wassup?"
"You're not going to believe this." Pin said.
"Does it have anything to do with the future clients you mentioned?" Quincy said.
"Yes, they said they'll consider having you do their hair over the summer if they get pictures of Mal for the banquet being held at the end of the school year." Pin said.
"Are you serious? My summer plans are being dependent on how I do Mal's hair?" Quincy said.
"It's no surprise, she is Lady of the Court after all. The King's girlfriend on top of that, they've been looking at your InstaRoyal and their interests are piqued. All you have to do is what you always do, make your client the most fairest of the all!"
"We're talking about Kings and Queens here, so I'm a little nervous here." Quincy said.
"You'll do fine, besides, it's not every king and queen in the country. Just Tiana, Cinderella, Snow White, Jasmine and Merida." Pin said.
"Sure, that don't sound like a handful." Quincy said.
"Quincy, I wouldn't have done this if I didn't think you can do it. You have talent that needs to be exploited and appreciated. I know you can do this. I believe in you, your friends believe in you and soon after, all of Auradon will believe in you. The 400 followers proves my point."
"It's 550 now." Quincy said smirking a bit.
"You see? That's what I mean. Now You just gotta believe in yourself and your abilities. Can you do that?" Pin said.
Just then, Audrey twisted her magazine around and points to the picture she has her eyes on. "This one! This is the one!"
Quincy smiles at her then says to Pin, "Yeah, I believe I can."
20 mins later…
Quincy was still working his magic with his flat iron on Audrey.
"So you excited for tonight?" He asked her.
"Well, sure I am, but if I'm gonna be honest, I'm not too excited about it." Audrey said.
"You're granny, right?"
"Yes. She was even hesitant when I wanted to invited you and the other VKs."
"I'm invited?" Quincy said shockingly.
"I didn't mention that? Oops." Audrey said. "Well, the party's at 8, so get you best tuxedo."
"A little heads-up next time." Quincy chuckled.
"Of course." Audrey said.
"Wait." Quincy then smirks a devilish smile. "Jay's name came up, didn't it?"
"What? I don't know what you mean?" Audrey blushed.
"Jay was the first one you thought of, and probably the first one you invited, right?" Quincy smirks.
"That's insane. I just invited him out of pity. Even the uncultured needs a taste of the royal social events." Audrey said with her face even redder.
"I see." Quincy said teasingly.
"Plus, Mal, Evie, Freddie and Carlos couldn't make it." Audrey said.
"Oh, so that means he would've been the only one to have come? No wonder I didn't get an invite." Quincy teased again.
"Well it's not like I didn't invite them before today." Audrey said.
"Well, since you're passing out invites, I guess I can come. Who else is going?"
"Jordan, Jane, Lonnie and Ally."
"At least there's more familiar faces."
"Oh, that reminds me, I have to put on my best face after this."
"I'm guessing that your makeup."
"Exactly!"
"Well, you're definitely gonna be the belle of the ball when I'm done with you." Quincy said as he moves onto the other side of her head.
"I would think so too. All eyes will be on me." Audrey said.
"And Jay's." Quincy smirked.
"Like I care what he thinks." Audrey said blushing again.
"Sure, you don't." Quincy said teasingly.
30 minutes later….
Audrey gasps. "OMG!"
Audrey gasps in both mirror as she takes in her own glammed up look. Her hair was so shine it was glowing. It was also twisted in a huge braid in the back with one smaller braid on each side of her head. There were even baby blue and baby pink bird barrettes one some loops in her hair. Her bang area was also tied in with her right side having more hair then her left. And tiny curls strands on both sides of her face.
"I love it." She said breathlessly.
"And the best part is that I used those new products to give it that extra shine."
"I can totally tell the difference! I never seen my hair look better before."
"Audrey, you're gonna knock their socks off when you enter and grace them with your presence."
"I can't wait! Even my granny will be impressed!" Audrey said.
"So 8 o'clock, right?"
"Yes and I'll be having limo coming by early, meet at the entrance 30 mins before." Audrey said as she's looking at her reflection.
"Hmm, the more I thought of it, the more I should've maybe add some pink and blue highlights."
"I think that's a tad too much anyways."
"You right, I honestly can't see you with those colors in your hair anyways."
Audrey gives Quincy his payment for his services and makes her out but turns to him at the doorway.
"Just so that you know, Chad's not to be invited, no matter what." Audrey sternly said.
"Got it." Quincy said.
Then Audrey walks off with the sound of her heels echoing the hallway.
"Hope he doesn't get a serious case of FOMO." Quincy said.
Sleeping Beauty's and King Phillip's Castle
Outside the castle arrives limos dropping off royalties and nobles of all ages. The servants of the castle welcomes them with bows and the guests walks by them. They entered the ballroom of the castle and it was packed. Tables were set up, food was placed and a jazz band is playing music for the atmosphere feel to it. Everyone is all dressed up in tuxedos and dresses, tailcoats, etc.
Sleeping Beauty was greeting everyone along with her husband, Phillip. Their smiles are affectionate as the guests' faces were smiling right back at them. Queen Leah and King Stefan does the same thing from a distance from their daughter and son-in-law. Everything so far was going perfect, from the decorations to the food to the people mingling with one another. There was just some guests that haven't arrived yet.
Another limo pulled up and once it was parked, a servant came to the door and opens it for the passengers to come out. First one to come out was Audrey and behind her out comes Jordan, Jane, Ally, Jay, Lonnie and Quincy. The seven Auradon Prep students makes their way up to the castle and walks towards the ballroom.
"Wow, talk about fancy." Jay said.
"This is almost like Ben's castle, just a bit different though." Quincy said.
"We would sometimes come here for her birthday parties." Jordan said.
"I remember when your dad would come by to do his magic tricks when we were kids." Lonnie said to Jordan.
"My dad sure does a have a wild imagination." Jordan said.
"Alright, people. Look alive!" Audrey said.
"She seems to be a little high strung." Jay whispered to Jordan.
"She's been a little nervous lately." Jordan whispered back to Jay.
Audrey was checking her purse but then got a quick glimpse of Jay and Jordan whispering to each other. Audrey was feeling something stirring up in her seeing those two and she tries to brush it off. Ally noticed her expression and walks up to her.
"You looking a little flushed. Is everything alright?" Ally said.
"Uhh, yes! Of course! Why wouldn't it be? I'm just so ready to get this party started!" Audrey said a bit loudly then chuckled nervously.
This got everyone's attention, even Jay and Jordan who noticed her behavior. Audrey then faced the doorway to the ballroom.
"This is it!" Audrey said walking towards it with her friends.
The group of six finally walks through the ballroom entrance and that's when everyone noticed them. It was like Audrey was the center of attention as her hair was glowing everywhere and it shimmers with the chandelier on top hanging from the ceiling.
"Woah!" Some women said.
"Check out the princess." A teenage male royal said.
"She's positively glowing." A woman said.
"She's literally glowing!" Another woman said.
Audrey makes her way across the room and everyone admires her. Audrey keeps on smiling as she hears the compliments. Jay and the others followers her on the way to the buffet table.
"Did y'all hear that? They love me!" Audrey said.
"No surprise, the hair, the dress, your smile. You lit up the room." Lonnie said.
"Of course she did, her hair was so shiny, I was almost blind." Jordan said.
"You can thank me for that." Quincy said. "I might've added in a little too much hair spray."
"It's perfect!" Audrey said.
"I think we all look perfect." Jay said.
Everyone in the group was well dress. Audrey had on her pink dress with ruffles down the front, Jordan in her orange dress with some gold accents on the waist and collar. Jane has on a light blue dress with a periwinkle belt, Ally had on a sky blue dress and a lighter blue sleeve-length gloves, Lonnie has on a cherry blossom pink dress with a teal cardigan, Jay has on a dark red suit with the jack open showing a black dress shirt and Quincy has on a red tuxedo with a gold ascot, a white dress shirt and bright red shoes.
As they all were still talking amongst themselves, Audrey's parents stepped on by and greets their daughter.
"Audrey, dear!" Sleeping Beauty said.
"Hi, Mommy! Hi Daddy!" Audrey said.
They both hugged each other and Audrey does the same with King Phillip. Audrey twirls around in her dress to show off to her parents and even her hair.
"Do you like it? Audrey asked.
"It's lovely, Audrey." Her mom said. "But I'm in love with your hair! You have to tell me who's your stylist is! I need some work done myself."
"Well, you can talk with him cause I invited him over." Audrey said.
"Really? Where is he?" Aurora said.
"That would be me." Quincy comes to Audrey's side.
Aurora's eyes widen a bit as she looks at him in a certain way. "Oh, you're the one who did my daughter's hair?"
"That's right! Quincy's the name, your highness." Quincy said as he bows while extending his right arm.
"Quincy? Where have I heard that name from?" Aurora wonders.
Just then, Phillip responds to her questions. "Oh, what a minute, you're that Quincy everyone's been eating about. You saved the school and all of Auradon with Audrey back in Spring Break."
"Wait a minute, that's right. That's how I knew that name." Sleeping Beauty said but then remembers another detail. "You're the Queen of Hearts' son, aren't you?"
"Yeah, that I am." Quincy said.
Feeling a bit awkward after that, Aurora says, "Well, it sounds like you've come a long way."
"I've only just begun. I just opened my hair salon business and it's been booming. Got clients left and right. I booked so many appointments that I can't get my head on straight. I had to cut some off at one point thanks to my assistant. Too much work can really take a toll on a person, just gotta have priorities, you know?" Quincy said.
"Don't I know it?" King Phillip said.
He and Quincy chuckled.
Audrey begin feeling less tense seeing how well the redheaded Prince and her king father got along. Her mother though still feels a bit uneasy unfortunately, even Audrey can tell from an eye glance. King Stefan and Queen Leah are still greeting their guests and they're also talking to their friends until they spotted their granddaughter with their daughter and son-in-law. They smiled on how beautiful she looked and are just happy to see that she made it. There were all talking and laughing, just enjoying themselves. Leah however, notices Jay and how close she is with Audrey. She remembers seeing Audrey and Jay hug on the news one time and got a bit worried on the company she keeps.
"Dear." Leah said.
"Yes, my love?" Stefan said.
"Why don't we go make ourselves acquainted with Audrey and her friends?"
"Good idea." Stephen said as he excuses themselves from their friends and goes over to where their family is at.
"Audrey, darling." Leah said:
"Granny." Audrey said.
They hugged and kissed on the cheeks and Audrey hugged her grandpa also.
"Why, it's lovely to see you and your friends." Leah said.
"Hi, your majesty." Lonnie said.
"Good to see you, Lonnie." Leah said. "How's your mother and father doing these days?"
"Still as tough as ever being warriors and all that." Lonnie said.
"Glad to hear." Leah said. "Jane, Ally, Jordan, so glad you came."
"Good evening, Queen Leah." The three girls greeted.
Then that's when Leah turns her attention to the two remaining guests who happen to be VKs. "Jay, was it?"
"Yes, ma'am. Good to see you again." Jay said.
"Oh, I hope I didn't give you the wrong impression the last time." Leah said.
"Don't worry about it. It's all in the past." Jay said.
"Likewise." Leah said then turns her attention to Quincy. "And who's this?"
"Quincy, your highness. And I'm also technically the Prince of Wonderland if you wanna go by status." Quincy said.
"Ah, the son of the Queen of Hearts." Leah said. "I heard your making a name for yourself."
"Yeah, my mom may have rule with an iron fist, but I rule with a curling iron." Quincy joked.
Ally and the rest of the friend group laughed. Even King Stefan laughed along with King Philip. Leah and Aurora however were only a little impressed on how mannered he is.
"Hmm, well, I hope everything's still on a right path for you, given your background." Leah said.
"Uh, right, of course." Quincy said, though with a bit of uneasiness.
"And Jay, I was wondering how your dating life is. I'm sure someone's got you on their hooks by now. You are a charming young man, aren't you?" Leah said.
Audrey had her eyes wide at that sentence. "What does she mean by that?" She thought in her head.
"Well, I'm kinda not looking for anything serious. I'm just living the moment. Being on Tourney and R.O.A.R. is all the fun I need." Jay said.
"Oh, that's good to hear. Though if you were looking for someone serious, I'm curious as to who your type of women is." Leah said.
"What is she on about? Type of women? Well, not that I care or anything like that." Audrey thought once more.
"Honestly, I have low standards, so I'm not picky." Jay said.
"Oh, well that's just wonderful. Maybe you can find that type of girl here tonight." Leah said pointing at the other girls around the ballroom.
Audrey was shocked at what her grandma was suggesting. "Other…girls?"
"Um, yeah, there alright." Jay said.
"Glad to hear, you got all night, why not make the most of it?" Leah said then goes to her husband side.
The rest of the group was dumbfounded, especially Audrey since she feels a type of way whenever Jay and another girl are in a same sentence.
"What was that? Is she trying to set Jay up with someone? Why does that bother me so much?!" Audrey breathes hard, but slows it down as she calms herself.
The music started to change and most of the partygoers gathered a partner to dance with. It was boy and girl in hand and hand circling each other to the music that's playing.
"Oooh, the waltz. My favorite." Leah said then extends her hand to Stefan. "Shall we, dear?"
"We shall." Stefan said.
Audrey's grandparents joins everyone on the dance floor and dances the same way like they do. The rest of the group watches them dance but some are still confused on what Leah was trying to imply.
"Well, that wasn't strange." Quincy whispered. "She seemed very interested in your dating life, Jay."
"That's putting it mildly." Jay whispered back.
"Oh, I wouldn't worried about it. Leah's always trying to play matchmaker. Why, back when I was a wee girl, she tried paired me with Doug for a dance back in elementary school." Ally said.
"I'm guessing it didn't last." Quincy said.
Soon after, Aurora and Phillip joined the guest and the old king and queen on the dance floor. As they were seeing everyone dancing, Jay was looking towards Audrey who was having a drink from the punch bowl. Jay can't help but be mesmerized by her beauty. She definitely gets it from her mother.
"I don't suppose you care to join me for a dance, milady?" Jay smiles at Audrey while holding out his hand.
"I rather dance with Chad." Audrey said. "Or Gordon for that matter."
"Come on, Angel Face, you can't resist me forever." Jay said.
"I most certainly can. You may think your charming with your smile and your muscles poking through your sleeves, but I don't find either of those attractive." Audrey said.
"You be checking me out?" Jay's smile gets wider.
Realizing what she said, her face got about as red as an poison apple.
"Don't be ridiculous. I just repeated what the other girls at school were saying." Audrey said. "They seem to find you interesting."
"Oh Audrey, I had no idea you're the jealous type, but then again, I noticed it since spring break." Jay said still grinning.
"Eliza never made me jealous. She had nothing to do with you. It was just a coincidence." Audrey lied.
"Sure. But still, I'm in a dancing mood, so you don't mind if I take a swing with someone else?"
"Be my guest. I don't care." Audrey scoffed with a fake smile.
"Fine with me. Jordan, you mind?" Jay said turning to The Genie's daughter.
"Well, I was keeping busy with these appetizers, but why not?" Jordan said.
Jordan takes Jay's hand as he offers it to her and they both walked holding each other's hands until they clasped the other hands and started to move like everyone else is doing.
"Sure you rather dance with me?" Jordan asked.
"I figured I get a rise out of her." Jay said chuckled.
"You're such a card, Casanova, but cut her some slack. She's kinda going through with her grandma. Last thing she needs is for her granny to think she's betraying the family by dating a villain's kid." Jordan said.
"Hmm, I didn't think of it like that." Jay said.
"It's fine, besides, I got to dance with a really great guy." Jordan assured him.
"Thanks, Jor. I needed to hear that." Jay said.
From afar, Audrey can't help but stare at Jay and Jordan dancing while they're talking and laughing. An anger burns a bit inside her, but it just keeps on growing, like she has the urges to slash at someone nearby. She was even close to making a crack in the glass of punch she has in her right hand.
Quincy and the other girls were just talking to each other, but with his side eye, Quincy noticed how upset Audrey looks. He feels bad for her since he knows how this is killing Audrey, seeing the guy she likes dancing with another girl. Quincy then excuses himself to check on her.
"How we feeling tonight, Miss Gorgeous?" Quincy said smiling.
"Oh, just wonderful! I'm having the time of my life." Audrey said with a fake smile.
Quincy can tell when she's not ok, after knowing her for a few months. And then suddenly, he got an idea on how to make her feel less tense.
"You know, I don't think I've ever told much about my life on the Isle." He said.
"You mean besides you pranks?" Audrey said taking another sip of her drink.
"It wasn't always pranks with me. Sometimes it was more." Quincy said.
"How so?"
"Once upon a time ago, there was a someone, who I wouldn't call back on the isle cause of how we are, is sort of like a friend."
Audrey listens very intuitively.
"We would get into all sorts of chaos like messing with the teachers, messing with the neighbors and even sneak off during lunch period from Dragon Hall. We were the big bad before Mal formed her crew. Though we never really messed with her too much cause we'll, you know, her mom was the big, bad Maleficent."
Audrey nods.
"Anyways, at one point, I started developing feelings for that person and when we were alone one time, they told me they wanted something more and kissed me."
Audrey gasps. "OMG! Then what happened?"
"I basically blew them off. It was the Isle, we don't do feelings, even though I liked the kiss. I was afraid to express my real feelings and I knew my mom wouldn't approve, so I just cut ties before it became difficult, well too difficult."
"I'm so sorry. That must've been horrible that you had to do that." Audrey said.
"I told myself I was looking out for them to spare them the hurt, but turns out both of us got hurt in the end. All because I never gave us a chance to work it out."
Audrey looks down at her glass in her reflection and it was like she can imagine Jay in that same reflection.
"It may be too late for me, but some of us still got a chance." Quincy tells her.
"But…I can't. I have to do what's best for my family. They're all depending on me." Audrey said.
"Sometimes the heart wants what it wants. I learned a long time ago that you can't please everybody. Even your own family."
"That maybe how you work things out, but for people like me, I just don't have a lot of options." Audrey said.
Quincy sighs and puts an arm around Audrey to comfort her.
"I'm sorry you're going through it. I didn't know you were feeling this stressed."
"Right now, I just wish I can dance with someone." Audrey said.
Before Quincy can offer, someone familiar came in at the last minute.
"Sup, Audrey?" Chad said as he slid up besides them.
"Chad?!" Quincy and Audrey exclaimed.
"Wha-What are you doing here?" Audrey said then looks towards Quincy. "I thought I said NOT to invite him."
"I didn't!" Quincy said with his hands up.
"No need for him to invite me, I already heard all about it from Jane." Chad said.
"Dang it, Jane." Audrey said under her breath.
"So, I heard you need a dance partner." Chad said with his goofy smile and holding a rose to Audrey. "Would you care for a dance?"
Quincy lowers his eyelid and looks to the right with a 'ugh' expression on his face.
"And I thought I was the jester" he thoughts in his head.
"There's no way that…" Audrey says but looks over to see that Leah was smiling at her and Chad.
That was indicating that Leah approves of Chad's offer. He was no King of Auradon, but at least he's still a prince. Leaving with no other choice, Audrey accepts the rose and takes Chad's hand and guides him to the dance floor with everyone else. Quincy looks on and can already tell that this is going to be a disaster.
"It can't get worse than this. Right?" Quincy said in his mind.
Audrey and Chad danced away into the night, though through some of it, Audrey glances over at Jay and Jordan to see if they noticed, most of all Jay. Jealous was seeping through as they paid no mind to them. Audrey then concocts a small plan and dances closer to them while Chad was too busy being oblivious. And to be honest, he was just to busy talking about himself.
"So when I was playing March of the Demons with Aziz the other night, I swear I saw him secretly texting Herkie about meeting up when he's done beating me, like he expected me to lose to him and then…"
Audrey wasn't even paying attention as she was trying to get Jay to notice her to make him jealous. But it was almost like he didn't care. She then even circles around them like she thinks they can't not see her. But it was just another failure. Suddenly, Jay and Jordan walked off from the dance floor and scurries off to the hallway. Curiousity peeked her interest and she makes some dumb excuse just to go see what that was about.
She makes it to the doors and then she sees something that she never expected. Jordan on top of Jay on the floor. Audrey gasps at the sight. She couldn't even see there faces, but in that angle, it almost looks as if they were having a make out session. Audrey clenches her fist and hits the door beside her.
Unexpectedly, some type of loud music began playing and that's when everyone stopped dancing.
"What on earth?" Stephen said.
"My word. Who put on this pompous music?" Leah said.
"I don't know, dear." Stefan said.
"Someone turn that off!" Leah said to a servant nearby.
The servant runs off to find the source of the music. With the confusion, everyone starts to panic just a little bit. Even Ally and the others were wondering what's happening. She then notices Audrey over there by the doors and she seeing something glowing. It was her hair.
"Wait. Haven't I seen that type of glow before?" Ally said to herself.
The music even got Jay's and Jordan's attention and they both saw Audrey standing there looking angry.
"Woah, Audrey." Jay said getting himself off and pulls up Jordan. "It's not what it looks like, believe me."
Jay tries to get his words through, but for some reasons, she just couldn't hear them. In fact, she wasn't in a listening mood.
"Always were the player, aren't you Jay?" Audrey said looking down on the floor.
"I'm sorry?" Jay said.
"You say you're interested in me, and then you're always going off flirting with every girl in your sight. Even my so-called friends."
"Hey, it's not what you think!" Jordan said. "Don't take this the wrong way, Audrey. You don't even know!"
"Oh, I think I understand it perfectly." Audrey said.
Just then, she looks up and her eyes are glowing pink. And her dress turned darker than before. Jay and Jordan gasps at how Audrey looks to them.
"Audrey. Are you alright?" Jay asked.
"No, I'm not alright! In fact, I'm peed off!" Audrey said. "Why is it that I get to feel like this, but no one else does?!"
Audrey then walks back into the ballroom and and then she points towards a random couple and a pink lighting bolt came zapping out to them. It was like they got shocked, but they weren't hurt. But pretty soon, it was their feelings that were the question.
"You into that girl, weren't you?" The girl said.
"What, no I'm not." The boy said.
"I saw you looking at her!" She said.
"I was looking at the decorations!" He said
"Don't lie to me!" She said.
The crowd looks over to the arguing couple and are feeling uneasy with the sight.
"Ahh, that's more like it!" Audrey grins evilly. "Next!" She zaps the next couple.
"You like Gary, don't you?" The boy of the next couple said.
"Gary nothing, what about that Trollop, Sarah? The girl of that second couple said.
"Sarah, smarah! If you want him, go to him!"
"Don't you dare give me that tone!"
Audrey then zaps the couple after them and produces the same result. And the next one after that, and the next one after that. So on and so on, Audrey was already infecting half the guests.
"Oh dear! Audrey must be affected by that insane magic." Ally said.
"We gotta stop her!" Lonnie said.
"But how?" Jane said.
"Use a spell!" Quincy said to Jane. "Anything to bind her!"
"Ok, I'll try." Jane said.
She places her hands in front of her and chants a spell. "Trouble has spread in the room, put her in a place of a tomb!"
Blue sparkles appear around Audrey and she was inside a pumpkin with her head the only thing poking out at the top of it.
"Jane, sometimes I think you're too obsessed with pumpkins." Quincy said with a arched eyebrow.
"But at least she can't move." Lonnie said.
Audrey struggles for freedom and luckily for her, she was able to zap her way out of the pumpkin and it splattered away in pieces. She then looks over to Quincy and the other girls.
"You!" Audrey shouted to them.
"Uh-oh." Quincy said.
She zaps at them next, but luckily, they all dodged it with Lonnie and Jane ducked on one side and Quincy and Ally in the other direction. They all headed for cover as Audrey keeps zapping away in their way. The rest of the guest panics and runs around the very colossal room. Audrey then zaps more people to feel what she's been feeling. Quincy and Ally finds cover underneath one of the tables.
"I can't believe this is happening right now!" Quincy said.
"I know and everyone is just feeling so upset." Ally said.
"Ugh, I wish I knew how this happened." Quincy said.
"Hmm, I think I do." Ally said.
"You do?!" Quincy said.
"Don't you think it's strange that when this horrible music is playing, Audrey suddenly goes berserk?" Ally said.
"Now that I think about, that's some wired coincidence."
"Except it might not be and this is not the first." Ally said.
"How so?"
"Because in everything I've heard, loud, rambunctious music is played near the victim and suddenly, they go in a frenzy type of rage. Like with Emeri at Ariana's party, Lonnie in the museum, Freddie at the talent…"
"And Herkie at the school!" Quincy added.
"Herkie?"
"Didn't you said you heard some weird music playing before Herkie turned crazy?"
"Oh right, thanks for reminding me." Ally said.
"Hmm, so what your saying is since that's the music that's makes everyone go so crazy…"
"Then we need to play the opposite type of music to soothe them over." Ally said.
"Ally, you're a genius!" Quincy said.
"Nope, I'm a genius detective!" Ally said.
"Ok, first, we need to turn of the music and then get the band to play their instruments." Quincy said.
"But how do we get Audrey from getting us into an argument?"
"Hmm…" Quincy said.
He looks around and sees Jay protecting Jordan in a corner along with Lonnie and Jane.
"I think I can arrange for a distraction. And while I do that, you find the band and get them to play."
"Got it!" Ally said.
They both split up and head for their destinations. Quincy quickly runs over to the others and tells them his plan.
"Ok, I'm in." Jay said. "I just hope she's will to listen to me after everything."
"Wait, what did I miss?" Quincy asked.
"Doesn't matter, I'll keep Audrey busy." Jay said.
"Good luck." Quincy said then makes off in another direction.
Jay walks over to Audrey while she was busy zapping everyone. Jay got close behind her and calls her name.
"Audrey." He said.
She turns around with anger written on her face and showing her teeth.
"What could YOU of all people want with me?" Audrey said.
"I just wanna talk." Jay said.
"Talk?! There's nothing to talk about. I know how you feel. That's why I'm doing this!" Audrey said.
"No, you don't know how I feel. You have to listen to me!" Jay said.
"I'm through listening!" Audrey said.
She then aims her finger at Jay before another pink lightning bolt came straight for him. Suddenly, a shield appeared in front of him and blocks the attack from making contact. Jay, who had his arms up in defense, looks up to see the shield and taking it into his own hand, putting his arm through the straps. He looks to his left to see Jane's arms were up outwards from her.
"That was close one." Jane said.
"Thanks for having my back, Jane." Jay said.
Jane nods in appreciation with a small smile.
On the other side of the room, Quincy investigates the source of the music. He hasn't found any speakers, but he did notice some cords lying on the floor.
"Now where do these lead too?" Quincy thought.
He walks towards the back of the room and he sees the wires going up near the ceiling. It was two megaphones on each side of the room.
"Weird, why would they have this many megaphones if they only needed the speakers where everyone can already hear them?" Quincy thought in his head once again. He then shakes his head. "There's no time for that! I have to turn them off! But how?"
Quincy looks around and sees rope from the curtains that's conveniently next to the megaphones. He grins at an idea that popped into his head. Meanwhile Jay is still trying to talk to Audrey with his defenses up though.
"Audrey, what you think you saw, that isn't what happened!" Jay tells her.
"Lies, lies, lies!" Audrey shouted. "It's one thing after another, Jay!"
"I'm telling you the truth!" Jay said. "It was an accident."
"Audrey, you gotta listen to him!" Jordan said coming to Jay's side. "Whatever's happening, this isn't you!"
"She's right, the Audrey I knew is a high-maintenance princess who likes everything to be perfect and to have the best life possible. You love nature, pink and blue are your favorite colors and you have people that care about you."
"Let me guess, you're one of those people?" Audrey said in a deadpan tone.
"Of course, Angel Face. You make me so crazy, I can't stand it!" Jay said.
"Sure doesn't look like it!" Audrey's hair glows even brighter.
"Girl, come on, Jay is a huge flirt, he's not my type." Jordan said.
"Spare me!" Audrey said.
"No, cause this is what happened!" Jordan said.
Flashback, 5 mins ago
When Jay and Jordan were dancing, Jay noticed how Audrey was dancing with Chad. He tries not to look too hard, but he couldn't help it. He thinks if this means they're getting back together, but he focuses on Jordan instead trying to ease his mind from it. Jordan was confused on why Jay was looking distracted. She turns to see what it was all about and see Audrey and Chad dancing while looking at each other. Jordan chuckled a bit and decided to walk off with him when she got a text that has her shocked. She pulls Jay out into the hallway and she was gleaming with pride.
"Wassup, Jordan?" Jay said looking confused.
"I was trying to set up an interview for this company and I got it!" Jordan said.
"Really? Congratulations, I guess. What company is this?" Jay said.
"It's part of my investigation for the magic that's been shaking up Auradon lately." Jordan explained.
"Oh great, but that still doesn't answer my question." Jay said. A smirk showing on his face, he reaches for Jordan's phone. "Lemme see." He says.
"No way, it's personal." Jordan said keeping her phone away.
"Just a peek." Jay said.
"Still no."
Jay and Jordan kept at it until Jay trips on Jordan's dress and he accidentally pulls her down on top of him. They both have a laugh about but Jay still tries to reach for her phone.
"Cut it out, Jay." Jordan said while trying to stop laughing.
"I won't tell anyone." Jay promised.
As their struggle continues, that was when Audrey comes out to see what the fuss was all about and that's when she caught them.
Present
After pleading their case, Jay and Jordan waits for Audrey's next words. She still has that same angry expression she shows since she's changed. But eventually, she speaks.
"You mean to tell me that it really was just a huge misunderstanding?" Audrey said.
Jay and Jordan nodded to her question.
"THAT'S EVEN WORSE!" Audrey said.
She turns around and zaps the rest of the guests and they all get into arguments with one another. Jay, Jordan and the rest of the girls gasped at the horror that unfolded before them. Everyone shared the same bitter, jealousy-ness that Audrey feels, even her own family. Pretty soon, a couple of guys were shoving each other. Chad, however, somehow managed to be the only one who didn't get hit and runs over to his friends.
"I literally don't understand what's happening!" Chad said.
"Big surprise." Jordan said overhearing behind her.
"One minute, I'm dancing with Audrey, next she's making everyone hate each other." Chad said.
"Long story, Chad. We'll fill you in later." Lonnie said.
Audrey then gets ready to zap Jay and the others.
"If we survive, that is." Lonnie said.
"We'll, now that you all are the last one in this party, I think it'll be more enjoyable for you to feel how I feel!" Audrey said.
As she's about to zap them, suddenly, the music shut off and the previous music starts to play, which was that smooth jazz music. It was the band who played that same music as they use their instruments once more. And just like that, Audrey began to feel like she's in pain.
"AAAAHHHHH!" She screams.
She got on her knees and her appearance was changing back to normal. Jay goes to her and Audrey looks up and see Jay towering over with his concern expression.
"Audrey, are you ok?" Jay said.
"Wh…what happened?" Audrey said.
"Well…" Ally said.
She and Quincy came up to everyone.
"You were kinda under a spell and were making everyone mad at, well…each other." Ally said.
"What?" Audrey said.
She looks over to see that everyone wasn't fighting with each other no more, but they have no memory of what even happened before the spell started.
"Yeah, they all turned back to normal when you turned back." Quincy said. "You can thank Ally for that who found the band after they were hiding since they don't even know what was going on. They thought it was some bad food everyone ate."
"It wasn't just me, you silly boy. You took out those megaphones that were playing that horrible music." Ally said.
"Let's call it a team effort." Quincy said.
Jay stands Audrey up and she dusts herself off. Chad then comes up to check on her.
"Hey, so you not mad at me anymore, aren't you?" Chad said.
"No more than usual." Audrey said.
Just then, her family came up to them all and was looking at Audrey with concern.
"Audrey? Are you ok?" Aurora said.
"Yeah, mommy. I'm fine. Are you alright?" Audrey said.
"Well, that's the thing, we're not sure." Aurora said.
"I don't know why, but it feels like something happened." Phillip said.
"Yes, like we missed something important." Stephen said.
Audrey shrugs it off. "Everything's pretty normal to me."
"Well, good." Leah said and pulls Audrey over to the side to have a private chat. "Now, I just thought that you and Chad looked so adorable together. Any chance you're getting back together?" She smiles with hope.
"Well, I'm not sure. It was just a dance." Audrey said.
"You might be right. Though you could use somebody until Ben finally comes to his senses and takes you back. There's no way him and his current girlfriend are gonna last. So just be ready for when he leaves her. And Audrey…" Leah looks at her eyes to see if Audrey was paying attention. "We're all counting on you to provide the best for this family. We can't let anything, or anyone…" Leah looks at Jay. "Prevent you for obtaining our goals for Auradon. Do we understand each other?" Leah said.
"Yea, Granny. Don't worry, I won't let you down." Audrey said.
"Good. That's just what I wanna hear." Leah said.
She hugs her granddaughter with hopefulness while Audrey just feels more pressured than before. Leah then joins her husband and they both walked over to their friends while Audrey joins with her friends.
"By the way, your megaphones…" Quincy brought up all four of the megaphones that he broke to stop that other music. "Fell from the wall they were hung up on."
"Megaphones?" Aurora said. "I don't remember having any megaphones. Phillip, did you have someone install those?"
"Don't think so." Phillip said.
"Strange…" Aurora said. "I'm sure it's nothing, we never ordered them anyways. Now let's all enjoy the party."
Aurora and Phillip scurries off to join the festivities. Lonnie, Jane, Ally, Chad, Quincy and Jordan follows suit as well. Audrey, however, pulls Jay outside the room so they can have a talk. Audrey then looks away for a moment, making Jay feel a little uneasy.
"So, are you going to say something…or what?" Jay said.
Audrey finally looks his way. "Jay, look, I'm not gonna deny anymore that I do think you're…" Audrey blushed. "Handsome, cute, charming and I really want to do more than just being friends."
Jay smiled at her from the compliments he's receiving. "I'm kinda liking where this is going."
"You won't like the next words." She said.
Jay's smile faltered.
"The thing is, I have to think what's best for my family and being in an relationship with you is well, not the best for them." Audrey said.
Jay walks up to her and takes her hands. "But what about for you? What's best for Audrey?"
"Right now, what's best for me is to focus on being with a prince who can give me somewhat of a future that my family can tolerate for the time being." Audrey said.
Jay's smile has now completely vanished for both not being with Audrey and for her to being pushed into making her family happy instead for herself. Audrey did however squeezed Jay's hands like it'll be the last time she got close to him like that.
"I'll still see you around, won't I?" Jay said.
"We still got one more year of school left, don't we?" Audrey said.
Jay side-grinned about that. "There's that."
Audrey smiled a bit and does something unexpected. She gives him a kiss on the lips and Jay kisses her back. After what felt like an eternity, Audrey lets go and she starts to walk off, but she slowly lets go of her hold on Jay's hands and walked straight to the ballroom while Jay is still standing there dumbfounded. Eventually, he smiles at the kiss he finally got from the girl of his dreams. He may have not gotten to be with her, but the kiss was well worth it and soon after, he joined everyone in the party.
Auradon Prep, The Next Day…
Jordan and Ally were currently inside Jordan's lamp to talk about last night's shenanigans.
"So after reviewing all the clues, it's come down to the conclusion. We finally have a connection to the victims." Jordan said.
"Right and it's an unfortunate connection since he's the center of it." Ally said.
"I hope you're not suggesting he's behind this." Jordan said.
"Of course not. We know he wouldn't do this, but if everyone finds out about this information, he's going to be ridiculed by everyone." Ally said.
"Right, they won't trust him no more, they'll just see him as a villain just like his mother." Jordan said.
"Which is why we need to find out who the real culprit is." Ally said.
They both looked at the board they set up.
Pictures of Emeri, Lonnie, Freddie, Chad, Herkie , Audrey and various other students were on there in a form of a circle and Quincy's picture is in the middle with red string connecting him to the other pictures. And the symbol from his hair products is right next to him also.
"Let's get to work." Jordan said.
Author's Note: Just when you think things can't get any crazier, you're proven wrong. Looks like Jordan and Ally are close to solving this mystery.
