Dawn had finally approached and Doveripple came to relieve them of their vigil.
"You can speak now," she mewed brusquely.
Lavapool stretched her legs. "We might as well do the dawn patrol since we're awake.
Leafshine led the way out of the camp, pushing the brambles out of the way. Clawstorm ducked just in time as the brambles sprang back. Lavapool quickly climbed a tree and jumped down with a sparrow, and Clawstorm walked behind them, watching for danger.
Soon, they reached the SkyClan border and Clawstorm sniffed. SkyClan! "Wait. I smell SkyClan on our side of the border."
Leafshine sniffed too, "So do I! I wonder what they're doing here," Leafshine leaped up into a tree to get a better view.
"I'll go look for them," Lavapool said before padding off into the bushes, leaving Clawstorm all by herself.
"I'll just wait here then," Clawstorm said.
"No, instead you are going to head towards the abandoned twoleg den. I see something moving there," Leafshine said from her perch high up.
"Can't you do it?" Clawstorm sighed, "I'm tired."
"No," Leafshine said, "Because I'm busy."
"Uhg," Clawstorm said, "Fine," She padded off towards the abandoned twoleg den.
"I think my paws are going to fall off," Clawstorm muttered to herself. Suddenly, a dark gray blur attacked her, rolling her over and hissing. Clawstorm panicked and swatted at the shape, yowling for help. Lavapool and Leafshine came running out of the bushes, only to find Clawstorm standing triumphantly over Buzzardtail.
"What did you do?" Leafshine asked.
"Hey, he attacked me first," Clawstorm said.
Lavapool yelped as nearly half of SkyClan came out of the bushes to attack them. Clawstorm pushed Lavapool and Leafshine aside and unsheathed her claws. She sliced through the patrol, shredding anyone who dared to get close while protecting Lavapool and Leafshine. She had fought off half a Clan in only a few seconds. Wow. No wonder it was so easy with the foxes.
"Come on, let's go swim in the river to wash off all this blood," Clawstorm said while Leafshine and Lavapool gaped at her.
When they got to the river, Clawstorm jumped in, while Lavapool slowly padded in, avoiding the blood washing off of Clawstorm.
Leafshine gasped. When the blood had washed off, Clawstorm didn't even have a single scratch, "What?" Clawstorm asked.
"You just fought off all of SkyClan without getting a single scratch," Lavapool said, shocked, "I was thinking you'd have to stay in the medicine den for a moon!"
"It wasn't all of SkyClan," Clawstorm said modestly, "Just half of it. Anyways, I think we should go back to camp. I want to sleep some more."
By the time they returned, it was already sunhigh. Her paw pads were sore. "I think I'm gonna go to get something for my paws," She said.
As Clawstorm walked to the medicine den, she noticed a few deathberry-like things growing behind the elder's den. She padded over and pulled it out. Then she went to the medicine den for her dock. By the time Clawstorm got to the medicine den, she had already found 4 more deathberry-like things in the camp.
"Hello, Icewhisker," Clawstorm greeted the dappled golden tabby she-cat.
"Hello, Clawstorm! What is it this time?" Icewhisker asked.
"My paws are sore from the dawn patrol," Clawsleepy replied, "Also, I found a bunch of this weird deathberry-like thing." She showed Icewhisker the weird orange berries.
"Interesting, they're like deathberries, but orange," Icewhisker said, "Well, here's your dock, and let me know if you find any more, and bring them to me right away."
As Clawstorm padded away, Icewhisker spoke again, "Oh, and Clawstorm?"
"Yes?"
"Could you tell the queens to keep their kits inside for me?" Icewhisker asked. Clawstorm kicked herself for not thinking of that before and cringed slightly, waiting for Raincall to punish her. Then she realized she was a warrior now and Raincall could no longer punish her. She also realized Raincall couldn't punish her anyway because she was in SkyClan now.
After applying the dock, Clawstorm happily padded back to Leafshine and Lavapool. As she padded back, she noticed more of the orange plants and grabbed them. She raced over to the medicine den and stopped. Shouldn't I go to the nursery first to warn the queens? As she raced for the nursery she thought What am I doing, bringing these dangerous plants straight to the kits? So she headed off to the medicine den again. Wait! But I have to show the queens what the plants look like! And so she ran back to the nursery. When she got to the nursery though, she saw Poppykit munching on one. No! I was too late.
She ripped the berries out of Poppykit's mouth, and Poppykit started crying. Rainheart, her mother, rushed out of the nursery. Clawstorm told her about the orange plants and explained that she had seen Poppykit chewing on one. Rainheart thanked Clawstorm for telling her and herded Thistlekit back into the nursery. Clawstorm raced off for Icewhisker. She saw Icewind talking to Icewhisker about the orange plants. Clawstorm ran over and dropped her plant at Icewhisker's feet. Icewhisker looked worried and panicked and ran over to the nursery. After she had collected Poppykit, she gasped. Poppykit's eyes were bright orange. "Clawstorm, show me your eyes," Icewhisker said. Clawstorm showed her eyes to reveal that they were orange.
Icewhisker shoved some berries and other plants into Clawstorms mouth and ordered her to swallow. As Clawstorm swallowed, she fell asleep.
She dreamed she was in a clearing, and Lavapool and Leafshine were also there.
"Where are we?" Clawstorm asked.
"Can't you see?" Leafshine teased, "We're on the island."
Clawstorm turned and saw that the fallen tree was there, bridging the gap from the Clan's territories to the island where gatherings were held.
"Welcome," A sleek she-cat with pale gray fur and green eyes padded towards them.
"Who are you?" Lavapool asked.
"Aren't you Willowshine?" Leafshine asked before the gray she-cat could answer
"Yes, I have a message for you." Willowshine mewed.
"Three kits to be born,
Three destinies untold,
Beware the orangecough,
Beware the death that will come,
Leaf, Lava, and Claw must travel for the stars,
Of Leaf, Lava, and Claw, one will come home,
Of Leaf, Lava, and Claw one will bring the stars,
Of Leaf, Lava, and Claw, one will not return."
