"We need to get Emi into Kanna." Cam stated. "Xana's last attack provides its to dangerous to leave her alone at Kadic."
The group exchanged glances silently agreeing with Cam. But they knew Emi's enrollment was out of their hands. Kanna had a waiting list for mid-year transfers. The only way to by pass the waiting list is to have a current student and staff member write a letter. They'd done that and Emi hand moved up on the list, but not enough to enroll.
"There's no point in discussing this." Lynn stated. "since the school keeps a printed and digital copy of the waiting list, hacking into it is pointless. They'd notice Emi's placement on the list changed drastically. We can't afford to draw attention to ourselves."
"That's why we sent her to Kadic instead." Kya chimed.
Cam pinched the bridge of his nose. "I know, but it seems like every time we make any kind of progress it's pointless."
Alexei jumped up, "We gotta to!" He stuffed hisphoe phone into his pocket. "Mom's making her special hash! I'm not eating that. General we've gotta hide all spices, peanut butter, and hot sauce."
The color drained from Cam's face. "With or without dessert?"
Alexei gulped. "With."
Cam scrambled to his feet, "We'll resume this discussion on Monday." He was out the door before the others could reply.
Alexei stiffed a laugh. "Kya, come over tomorrow."
She gave a thumbs up. "As planned."
Lynn raised an eyebrow. "What did you two do?"
Alexei rocked back and forth on his feet. "I may have hinted to mom over the last few days how a homecooked meal would be nice."
"I may have suggested to Alexei that Cam needs a break. Even a forced one." Kya shrugged.
"So you threaten him with special hash!?" Lynn's serious expression faded when his lips began to twitch. "Cam is gonna be so mad when he discovers the truth."
Alexei groaned, "That parts true, mom is gonna make special hash." He paused, realizing his trick worked to well. "I've gotta go. Can't have mom making her special hash. It's the weekend after all!" Bag in hand, he gave a two finger slaute before dashing out the door.
Left alone, Kya and Lynn were the only ones from their group on campus. Emi couldn't leave Kadic do to getting dragged into some prank Ulrich and Odd pulled. While she wasn't in trouble like them, she chose to remain on campus to avoid unwanted attention. Besides, they had plans to meet up on Sunday. Sunday was a welcome party for Emi and a day to show her around town.
While they knew Emi understood why her friends hadn't been able to help her adjust to life on Earth, the others still felt bad. They also wanted to spend some time together that didn't involve Xana or Lyoko. Adventures on Lyoko could be fun, but the stress of a Xana attack wasn't. So they'd enjoy a weekend of being normal kids for once.
"Where are we going?" Lynn asked Kya, after Alexei and Cam left.
"How do you know we going some where?" Kya asked already on her feet.
"It's four in the afternoon, three hours before dinner or curfew. You've completed your homework and don't have practice." Lynn explained. "No way you wanna remain on campus."
"Correct, for the wrong reasons." Kya slung her bag over her shoulder. "I found a key, and coded message behind Mr. C's phone of him, Mr. Z, and Reya during the attack."
Trapped in the inframy during Xana's attack, Kya noticed a photo had fallen during the commottion. The fall had cracked the frame, letting a key and folded piece of paper fall out. Kya had given the paper to Emi, who decoded it (With wave's help). The message was an address.
Kya explained this as they made their way into town. Their journey leads them to a train station. Confused, Kya doubled checked the map and confirmed they were at the right location. Lynn was amused of the unexpected twist. He thought they'd end up at the bank upon seeing the key. He worried how'd they access the locker or chest that the key went to. A train station is easier to get into thana a bank.
Despite Kya's disbrief, they entered the train station. Lynn found a map of the station to try to narrow down places where the key could be use. It made no no sense for the key to be used in an employees only area. Ordinary people had no access to it, thus no need for the coded message for the train station's address.
Looking over the map, Kya saw the location of public locker. The only lead, they made their way to the lockers. The area was in a hall off to the side. Rush hour, the station was crowd with people traveling to new locations at the end of the work day. None of them paid attention to the students roaming the lockers.
Lynn studied the map and the decoded message. "According to the message we're looking for locker 103." He walked along the edge of the lockers reading the numbers. "Lockers 40-50...60-70..." Continuing his pace he double checked the map. "It should be somewhere down here."
"Found it!" Kya poked her head out from further down the row. "Over here!"
Lynn folded the map then went to meet Kya. He found her crouched in front of locker 103, key in hand. Upon his approach, she placed the key inside the lock. Slowly turning it, she heard the click that signaled the door was open.
"Woah." Lynn couldn't believe what they'd found. "You were right, that photo's a gold mine." He tried to contain his excitement, yet serectly cheer. Today they'd found something. Something that could help them.
Kya took the item and stuffed it into her bag. "Come on, let's get this to Emi!"
Emi sat on the floor beside Wave with Yumi and her friends as they watched Odd and Kiwi. After school Odd had pester them into coming over to the dorm he shared with Ulrich. Odd insisted Kiwi was a genius and had learned how to communicate through morse code like Kitt. So here they sat for over an hour after giving in, watching Odd epically fail.
"I swear he can do it!" Odd declared. "This morning he told me he had to be let out! Plus he wanted food."
Yumi was the first to speak. "He's a dog Odd, they need to be let out several times a day. Kiwi signaling that is nothing new."
Ulrich rolled his eyes at his roommate. "Yeah Odd, he's your dog, he's always ready for food."
Odd stomped his foot. "That's besides the point! My dog's a genius I tell you."
"Maybe the problem's not Kiwi, Odd." Aelita offered. "Have you thought about user error."
"Don't you mean owner error?" Wave chimed, earning giggles from everyone but Odd.
"Your just jealous that you don't have any awesome pet like I do!" Odd hugged a sleepy Kiwi.
Woken from her nap by the loud voices, Kitt popped her head out of Emi's bag. She meowed to alert her presences than hopped out. She moved, slowly taking in her new surroundings. She was use to her humans bring her to different places. That was fine by her, Kitt like the adventure.
"You brought Kitt?" Aelita asked, holding her hand out for the kitten. Kitt came over and rubbed her head along Aelita's hand before hopping onto her lap.
Emi shrugged. "Brought? No, Kitt snuck into my bag again."
"She's like Sissi, you can't stop her from doing what she wants!" Wave declared, earning her a hiss from Kitt. "What? Was it something I said."
Emi nodded, "Kitt's met both Sissi and Mara first hand, they like her but she doesn't return the feelings. She's insulted by the comparison."
Kitt nodded in approval, her way of saying Emi was correct.
"Ah, why is she staring at me?" Wave asked, not sure to be concerned or scared
"She's waiting for an apology." Yumi answered.
Kitt got up and moved to sit on Yumi's lap. She purred happily. She liked this human. The girl understood her in seconds. Reminded Kitt of her favorite human Kya. Lynn was good with patting and and Alexei brought snacks, while Cam always made sure she had a place to stay at the mansion if needed. Yet Kya always understood her , with or without the usage of morse code.
"Sorry, Kitt. Your right comparing anyone to those two is wrong." Wave held out a yellow tennis ball. "Are we good? I didn't mean to insult you."
Odd laughed, "And you think I don't pay attention! That's a ball, dogs like them. Not cats."
"Actually, since Kitt has demonstrated she's not like other cats. She might prefer the ball.." Jeremie added.
While they spoke, Kitt had moved away from Yumi over to Wave. She eyed the ball, ready to strick. When she lea leapt for the ball, Kiwi got it first. Kitt did not like that. She hissed before crashing the chasing the dog. Kiwi dashed away, ball in mouth.
Kiwi!" Odd shouted. He tried to catch Kiwi, who was running from Kitt.
'Aren't you going to get kitt?" Uli Ulrich asked.
"Nope." Emi shurgged.. "She's annoyed, so she's scaring Kiwi. She won't harm him. Despite her appaerance, Kitt's lazy. Look."
She pointed to where Kitt had slowered, while Kiwi still moved full of energy. Kiwi h had hadn't notice Kitt had stopped. Odd tried to tell him, but Kii didn't hear.
'Well as fun as this is wtac watching Odd play catch the Kiwi. I'm gonna go." Wave stood to collect her bag. "Gotta finish my homeowrk before dinner if I want a free evening." She sluated, than headed out the door.
With wave gone, that left Emi. Aelita and other ther others had agreed to meet afterschool to discuss Lyoko. Odd hanged those plans by insisting everyone come watch Kiwi the 'genius'. Since Emi and Wave were there when Odd gave the invite, they had no way ot re reason to turn the girls away. They were friends with Wave and Emi, but couldn't discuss Lyoko or Xana with them around. Thus their prsecne was sometimes an inconvience, like now. How or when would Emi leave?
"So Emi how do you like Kadic so far?" Yumi asked. Mayve a dicus discussion about school and friends would make Emi want to see her other ftien friends from Kanna.
"It's a big adjustment, but you guys , Wave, and my cousin's friends have helped me grt use to life here." Emi almost said 'earth'. She remembered to be careful with her words. Can't reveal she sin't from eaith earth earth or anything about Lyoko.
"Your not from around here, right?" Ulrich asked. "Where are you from?"
"Here and there, We traveled a lot, so I was homeschool." Emi answered with the background the group came up with. The story was based on some truth. Emi did travel a lot on Lyoko and late nights a at home Alexei would teach her things about Earth.
"How come you don't attend Kanna, where your cousins goes?" Al Aelita asked.
Emi was about to answer when her phone rang. A message from Kya said she was outside Emi' s dorm with Lynn. They'd found somethin and needed to show her.
Emi replied she'd be t right there. Than excused herself, saying she was off to do homework like Wave and would see them at dinner.
Emi's POV:
"There you are!" Kya voiced excitedly on her feet. "Hurry! You won't believe what we found."
She's uncharateily happy.
"Did you prank Alexei?" I asked while unlocking the door?
"Eve better." Lynn stated, holding his bag up. "You'll need your computer for this."
I entered first, followed by Lynn, and Kya who closed the door. We gathered by my bed with Lynn sitting on the floor and Kya ac cross from me on the bed. Lynn opened the bag to pull out another smaller bag. Inside this one, a case full of ds. Lynn handed the case to me to examine.
Confused I turned it over, not knowing what to look for. Than I saw it, on the bottom written in faded letters. 'Reya's Journal Logs.'
