A/N: This Omake takes place after the U.S.J., during the break from school. It is canon.

A Mother's Love

Optimus had just finished doing some light exercises when the phone Nezu gifted him started ringing. Recovery Girl had strictly forbidden him from doing anything too strenuous after he fell unconscious at the USJ. But he couldn't just sit still.

Now that he unlocked the true power of the Matrix, he needed to train his body to be able to handle the strain of the power better. Else he'd continue to be a liability when his three minutes in Prime mode were up.

But, he guessed now was as good a time as any to take a break. He wiped the sweat off his brow picked up the phone and saw that it was Izuku who was calling him. He answered the phone.

Optimus: Hello Izuku. What is it?... Huh? You want me over for dinner?

An hour later, Optimus had changed into the clothes he arrived in this world with, a red jacket, black undershirt, grey pants, and blue-grey combat boots, and was standing in front of the Midoriya Household, feeling nervous.

Was it okay for him to show up empty-handed? Should he have brought something with him? He didn't know the proper customs with house visits, especially for humans. He's never been invited to a friend's house before now.

But he then steeled himself and decided to get it over with. He pressed his hand against the doorbell. He waited outside a few seconds before the door opened.

The woman who greeted him was undoubtedly Izuku's mother. She had the same large and circular green eyes. Her hair was also green but in a slightly darker shade than her son's. Her hair is straight and shoulder-length, with a small and spiky ponytail at the back. She was also obese. She took one look at Optimus, and her eyes sparkled as she gave a smile that could light up the entire world.

?: Oh you must be Izuku's friend!

Her smile was infectious and Optimus couldn't help but return it with his own.

Optimus: Indeed ma'am. I am Optimus Prime.

Inko: Oh just call me Inko. Ma'am makes me feel old.

Optimus: I apologize then.

He said that quicker than he intended. He saw what happened when you suddenly called a person old, recalling his experience with All Might in the infirmary yesterday.

Inko waved off his apology, not even offended.

Inko: It's alright. You were just trying to be polite. Come on in, please.

Optimus nodded graciously as he entered the home, taking off his shoes as was Japanese custom. He looked around the small apartment, finding it rather homely and charming, despite its unextrodinary appearance.

Optimus: You have a lovely home.

Inko: Oh you're just a bucket of compliments, aren't you? But thank you nonetheless. Dinner's almost ready. Izuku's in his room right now, making notes on heroes as always.

Optimus looked around the room at the various pictures on the wall, many of them decipting a younger Izuku. Some by himself, others with his mother, who looked much more slim and younger in those photos. However, he saw no sign of any pictures regarding any man who could be Izuku's father.

Optimus: Will Izuku's father be joining us?

When he asked, he realized he made a mistake. Inko's face soon became downcast, a look he recognized many times during the war. The face of someone who lost a loved one.

Optimus: I am sorry for your loss. Please forgive my ignorance.

Inko soon panicked as she waved her arms frantically as Optimus stared bowing.

Inko: Oh no! My husband's not dead! He's just... not around as much.

Optimus raised an eyebrow.

Inko: Hisashi works for a big company, one that has branches all over the world. He's pretty high up on the board, so he travels a lot to the branches around the world. It helps pay the bills since I don't work, but it keeps him away from home a lot, especially as Izuku was growing up. It's not ideal, but I can't be angry with him. He works himself to the bone every day to provide for this family, to make sure me and Izuku can live without fear of going broke.

Optimus nodded, understanding the sacrifices one must make for the people they love, even if that means their time with them. He then proceeded to change the subject.

Optimus: What are we having for dinner?

Inko's face lit up.

Inko: Oh, Katsudon! It's Izuku's favorite! Do you like Katsudon Optimus? What kind?

Optimus: I'm afraid I haven't had the pleasure of trying it since I arrived in Japan. I've mostly been eating either the food Lunch Rush makes or some convenience store meals.

His answer shocked Inko, who then had a concerned expression on her face.

Inko: If you don't mind me asking...

Inko trailed off looking slightly nervous.

Inko: This may be overstepping my bounds since we just met, but Izuku told me that you live in the school dorms because you don't have a family. Right?

Optimus: That is correct.

Inko: If you don't mind me asking, how did you survive by yourself till now?

Optimus: Because I wasn't alone. I had friends and allies, even a mentor who guided and helped me for a major portion of my life.

Inko: But no mother, no father, no siblings of any kind?

Optimus: Yes.

Optimus said it nonchalantly, but his response caused Inko to come baring into him like a bullet train and wrapping her arms around him. She soon bawled her eyes out, soaking Optimus' clothes.

Inko: I'm sorry! I'm so sorry you were abandoned like that. No child should ever be abandoned! Especially one as kind as you!

Optimus was shocked at the woman's reaction. Did what he said seem like that big of a deal? Cybertronians didn't even have conventional families. And there he realized his folly. He was still thinking like a Cybertronian. But he was a human now, living among humans, who built their whole lives around families. Of course, what he said would sound strange and tragic to others.

He placed his hands on Inko's shoulders, pushing her off him slightly so he could get a look at her face. He flashed her a warm smile.

Optimus: Listen Inko. I may have been without a conventional family, but that doesn't mean I didn't make my own. I made friends who stuck with me through whatever trials we went through. Had a mentor who taught me everything I know. And even had a person who was my brother in all but blood. And besides, despite losing many of those connections over my life, I have already found some amazing people here in Japan, your son Izuku being chief among them.

Hearing this person speak so warmly of her son, caused Inko to burst into tears again, this time in joy, shocking Optimus.

Optimus: "How can one human produce this much fluid from their optics?!"

Inko then quickly calmed down.

Inko: I'm sorry for that, it's just... it's been so long since Izuku brought a friend over. Ever since whatever happened between him and Katsuki, and when we thought he was Quirkless, he was always alone. He tried not to show how much that bothered him, but I'm his mother, we know things about our children. So when he said he was inviting a friend for the first time in nearly 10 years, you have no idea how much that meant to me. That you're friends with my son. And not only that but that you believe he can be a hero. Something I failed in.

Her features darkened with shame.

Inko: When we first thought Izuku was Quirkless, he asked me, begged me, with tears in his eyes to tell him he could still be a hero like All Might. But instead of supporting him, or offering words of encouragement, all I could was say 'I'm sorry'.

Tears gathered in her eyes.

Inko: I didn't believe in him. His own mother didn't believe in him when he needed it the most. And you know what's worse, I was relieved when we were told he was Quirkless. Because that meant he wouldn't try to be a hero and would be safe. I was relieved that my son's dreams were crushed at the age of four. What kind of parent feels like that? I'm horrible!

Optimus: No.

Optimus' voice was so firm that it snapped Inko out of her spiral as she looked up at the human prime, to see such a firm and gentle expression on his face.

Optimus: You are not horrible. You are human. And what human mother wouldn't wish for their child's safety? You should not feel guilt for being relieved that your son seemed to be safe. As for what you said to him, there was no right answer. Your words wouldn't have erased years of powerlessness, or loneliness. And despite what you may believe, you are the reason Izuku can live his dream now.

Inko: What? I-I don't understand...

Optimus: You taught Izuku the difference between right and wrong. You taught him to help those in need. You taught him how to be kind. Without those lessons, Izuku would never be the person–the hero–he is today. The hero who saved my life. He may have a power now, but you're the one who gave him the heart of a hero.

Inko was speechless. For over a decade, she blamed herself for failing her son when he needed her the most. For not being the kind of mother who supported his dream from the get-go. So much so that she stopped taking care of herself, thinking she deserved to look like how she did now.

But this boy, this kind stranger who was friends with her son, told her the opposite. Said she was the biggest reason her son was a hero. She didn't know what to say or do, except wrap her arms around him and cry again.

Optimus, still a little shocked over how much this human could cry, merely gave a comforting smile and returned the hug. He then felt someone collide with his back and looked over his shoulder to see Izuku, tears of his own, matching his mother.

Optimus: "How is it possible for humans to cry this much?! Is it some kind of Quirk?!"

After the tears, and near flooding of the apartment complex, the Midoriya family and their guest sat at the table. They said their prayers and began to dig in.

When Optimus took his first bite of the Katsudon, he was immediately assaulted with incredible flavor. The mix of spices, meat, vegetables, and egg. It was unlike anything he'd ever tasted. He had no doubt Lunch Rush could make a meal that could match it, but he could tell, that this meal had something more to it than just the assortment of ingredients.

He looked over to the family who invited him, seeing Izuku eagerly dig into his meal, Inko had a loving smile on her face as she watched her son eat the food she prepared.

And that's when he realized what this meal had as opposed to all the others he'd had before.

A Mother's Love.

Earth media have exaggerated the power of a parent's love could have on a person or object, but it seems there was some truth in those shows and stories.

For the briefest moment, Optimus felt a sting of envy. Envy that he was not born human. Envy that he never got to experience this kind of warmth growing up, this love. But those feelings of envy left as he shook his head.

There was no point in wondering what could've been, that's how you get trapped in the past. But still, as he happily ate this meal, he couldn't help but wonder what his mother might be like. He hoped she would be like Inko.

Izuku Midoriya truly was a lucky soul. Not only was he chosen by the Number One hero to be his successor, but he was also raised by such a loving and caring mother.
