Koneko Tuojou was not a girl's girl. That was simply not something that was in her program. She was a bit of a tomboy, under her emotionless visage. She didn't enjoy typically girly things, she didn't like watching romances or listening to love songs. Nor was she a delicate flower in need of saving.
She was rough and tough, she loved to brawl and fight and tumble. She liked listening to rap and she preferred action, so of course it was only natural that a girl like her would be attracted to watching fighting sports like MMA, or UFC.
Then one day she stumbled into entertainment wrestling. What? It may have been scripted, but while she was initially drawn in for the fight and the athleticism, she ended up staying for the drama, the pageantry.
She ended up falling in love with the story telling, the brotherhood and the betrayals! Needless to say, she found her niche hobby.
And it just so happened the town of Kuoh had a pretty big wrestling promotion. Sadly due to her supernatural prowess as a rook she wouldn't be able to join it, but she enjoyed going on weekends, and watching it every Saturday night.
Of course, it sucked going alone and watching it by herself, but oh well. Rias, Akeno and Kiba weren't really about that.
That said, she was also pleasantly surprised when she found out one of the wrestlers of Kouh Entertainment Wrestling attended Kouh Academy. Of course he was a first year college student so she didn't really run into him all that much.
But imagine her surprise the first time she saw him walking around the halls. Standing at one point eighty five meters tall, weighing in at a hundred and two kilograms. His name was Naruto Uzumaki, a foreign looking student with blonde hair, blue eyes and three whisker-like marks on each side of his cheek.
He was also, funnily enough, the adopted older brother of Issei Hyuudo. The infamous pervert of Kouh, but the two couldn't be any more different, which was ironic.
It was Saturday, and Koneko couldn't wait to get out of school. She would keep her contracts short today, given later tonight she would go to watch her favorite wrestling promotion.
As she walked through the halls of Kouh, she happened to run into Naruto. She had a question she had wanted to ask, a burning question that had been on her mind for a while.
See, while he was one of the wrestlers she liked, afterall, he had charisma, had great technique and skills on the microphone, he was insistently chasing this one opponent who beat him multiple times, of course that wrestler, Ryudo, was the promotion's Undisputed Champion.
So as she saw him, she walked up to him, and greeted him with, "Excuse me, Naruto-san, do you mind if i asked you a question?"
The blond greeted her with a smile, "Yeah sure, what's up?"
"Why do you keep going after Ryudo-san?" Koneko asked with wide amber eyes.
"Excuse me?" Naruto asked, looking confused.
Koneko frowned a bit, "Why do you keep going after Ryudo-san? You're one if my favorite wrestlers but everytime you two fight you get beaten,"
"Ah, that's what I thought you asked," Naruto replied as he got to a knee to be eye level with her, and replied, "The reason I keep going after Ryudo, despite the countless times he's beaten me, is because I can't give up. I'll beat him eventually, but I can't stop. If I give up then Ryudo will have really won in the end, ya know?"
Koneko nodded in understanding, as she gave him a very small smile and said, "I hope you win the championship soon, Naruto-san,"
"I hope so," Naruto replied as he got up and bode her farewell, "By now little one, I got classes in a few minutes,"
Koneko nodded as well and walked away, as she walked down the hallway she noticed her Buchou, Rias Gremory looking at her, curious blue-green eyes and Red hair falling to her lower back.
"Koneko, who was that?" Rias asked with a raised eyebrow, "A friend of yours? He seems a bit older,"
"No, buchou, Naruto Uzumaki-san isn't really a friend of mines," Koneko replied, "He's a Wrestler for KEW,"
"Oh, that fake fighting stuff you like to watch," Rias said somewhat dismissively, which was an affront to the little white haired first year, "I didn't know that there was a wrestler in the school,"
"He's a first year college student buchou," Koneko said as she put her hands on her hips and gave her king a look that let her know that the rook was displeased, "And KEW isn't fake, not unlike other companies. They don't determine the outcome of their matches and their scripts are just outlines,"
"Sure Koneko," Rias said as she turned to her rook apologetically, "Well, go to class, I'll see you later today,"
"Buchou, I'm going to the show tonight," Koneko reminded her king, and then walked off.
Naruto Uzumaki put the Hard Core title belt around his waist as he got ready for the main event of the night.
The Hard Core title was a mid card title He had been holding for the past four months. He looked into the locker room mirror, inspecting his reflection while lost in thoughts.
he couldn't believe the incredible turn his life had taken him into. It all started before he was born, born on earth that is.
He died fighting Sasuke at the valley of the end. Giving it his all to stop his friend from defecting to Orochimaru, but in the end it wasn't enough and his hesitancy to use lethal force cost him his life.
But he wasn't too fussed, yes he had died, and dying sucked. He never got to become Hokage, or keep his promise to Sakura.
But he got something better out of it, a family. Technically he was abandoned at birth, but a loving family had adopted him and given him a home with them as a newborn.
And he cared about both his parents greatly, and his little brother Issei. He was a bit disturbed by how his own and his parents' indulgence in Issei's tendencies had made the boy into an unrepentant pervert. Indulgence born from the fact that their parents had two miscarriages before having Issei, which had led them to adopting Naruto.
And what a life he lived. He was loved, he had parents that picked him up whenever he fell down and encouraged him to keep going.
But something remained missing, something remained nagging at him, pulling him. Reminding him, he never reached his goals in his previous life.
And soon he had turned to fighting again, using his basis as a former ninja in taijutsu and convinced his parents to sign him up for martial arts. Which they did happily, as always pushing him forward with all their love and support.
Truly Miki and Gorou Hyuudo were great people and parents who did everything they could for their sons.
And they were there when he suffered his first heartbreak at fifteen years old, as despite being born in Japan, despite speaking and only knowing the Japanese language and culture, and being a natural born citizen to Japanese parents (who had abandoned him). But he was soon passed over for one of the top masters due to looking like a foreign hooligan due to his blond hair, blue eyes and whisker marks.
He ended up leaving the martial arts dream behind, and somehow ended up in the wrestling industry the following year later.
Winning over the crowd of a few thousand people that showed up every saturday night as they traveled to the nearby towns around Kouh doing shows every saturday.
And once again, he found himself fighting for something he often lacked, acknowledgment and respect from those around him. Which is what led him to being in the situation, He was now.
And tonight he had a shot at glory, or he could lose it all. He was scheduled for a marathon match, where he had to fight six matches in a row and win four of them, to get another shot at the KEW Undisputed Championship belt.
Perhaps he could win all six and keep both his mid card title and get a shot at the main event title. He could do the bare minimum, win the four matches and give up the Mid card title belt.
Or he could lose both the belt and the title shot, which could be disastrous for him. He knew he was being scouted by other bigger promotions, and if he put on a bad showing, he would never make his dreams come true.
And this time it wasn't as if his dreams were lofty. He just wanted to make enough money to give his brother the best education he could afford, and retire his father so his parents could relax and spend their time together enjoying themselves.
And for him? Fighting made him feel fulfilled, only this time he wasn't putting his life on the line. He was going on life and death missions anymore.
Instead he was fighting to entertain other people, to make them laugh and cry and oooh and aaah, and tell a story. The story of Naruto Uzumaki.
No longer the lonely orphaned fighting to be acknowledged by very few. The boy who died to his best friend.
No, he was telling the story of Naruto Uzumaki, an everyday man. A son who wanted to make his family proud, and give them the best life he could. A college student who went to school full time and worked week nights for everything he owned, and helped his father and mother.
He was telling the story of Naruto Uzumaki, the man who never gives up, who enjoys the thrill of a good fight, and who was willing to do everything he needed to do to survive in that ring and be the best fighter the world had ever seen.
As he finished getting ready, he left the locker room to wait for his que. Which still was a few minutes away.
His parents were waiting for him along with his little brother.
His mom looked at him with concern, "Naruto, are you sure?"
Naruto nodded as he gave her a hug, "I'll be fine, mom. You just watch, six matches? Bah that's nothing,"
"Good look out there," his dad said patting the blonde on the back, "Don't hurt yourself too much,"
"Thanks dad," Naruto said as he hugged his father as well.
Then he turned to issei, "Issei,"
"Naruto," the brown haired boy said as he looked up to his brother with a small level of admiration, "Kick their ass! Show them why they don't mess with you,"
"I will," Naruto said as he messed with his brother's hair, "Remember, I do this for you. So cheer me on okay,"
He hugged his family one last time, and then walked towards the curtain, where the sound engineer sat looking at a screen.
And the owner of the company was also waiting near the curtains with a mic on hand.
Mr Miyagi looked at him and smiled, an older Japanese man wearing a Hawaiian shirt and beige pants.
"Naruto! My boy, are you ready?" the older man asked him as they both gave each other a slight bow and shook hands.
"Of course Mr Miyagi. Big night, tonight, gonna make my family proud," the blond responded as he started hopping from foot to foot psyching himself up.
"Six match marathon," Mr Miyagi said as they stood side by side, "Be quick, preserve your strength. Some of these guys are going seeking to put their hands on you and try to stop you from getting to the title shot,"
"Let them come," Naruto replied confidently, "I'm getting my title shot, one way or another I'm getting a title shot,"
"Good man, good man," Mr Miyagi said smiling, "Remember my boy, there are many eyes on you tonight. We got a capacity crowd, with five thousand eyes watching, be safe, have fun and make some money!"
Then his entrance song started five minutes after the previous two wrestlers entered through the courtain.
The guitar hit, then after five seconds the drums kicked in. He could hear the crowd on the other side of the curtain cheer and go wild.
He swung his arms a bit and walked out, and the cheer got louder. It was almost deafening considering the large crowd.
On the ground I lay
Motionless in pain
I can see my life flashing before my eyes
Did I fall asleep
Is this all a dream?
Wake me up
I'm living a nightmare
With the lyrics of time of dying by Three Days Grace playing on the loudspeaker, Naruto made his way down the ramp towards the ring, shaking hands with as many fans and spectators as he could.
As he came over to the ring side as he put one boot on the steel steps, he spotted a familiar mop of white hair, as he saw that girl from school.
He took his foot off the steps and walked over to her, noticing she had one of his merchandise shirts and a beanie with the Uzumaki swirl on it.
"How do you do?" He asked as he stopped in front of her.
"Naruto-san, good luck!" Koneko replied, giving him a small smile.
He looked at the crowd and shook some more hands before he finally slid in the ring, climbed the turnbuckles and unstrapped his title belt, raising it on one hand towards the crowd, toward the side he had seen the girl from school.
Then he got down and went towards the opposite side, where he had an idea of where his parents were sitting, and this time raised the belt with both hands.
"Introducing, from Kouh Town, Japan. Measuring one point eighty five meters and weighing in at one hundred and two kilograms. The HardCore Champion, Naruto! U-Zu-Maki!" The ringside announcer, a woman by the name Momoki Asami introduced him.
Then he got off the turnbuckle and decided to wait for his first opponent to come in, knowing well that it could very well turn out to be a long night.
And then, Mr Miyagi walked out, looking like a cartoonishly evil man.
