Chapter 15 : Persistent Followers
Thomas and Radara rarely rushed for anything in their lives, having become use to just arriving on time to do what they needed to naturally. For one of their homes to be violated however, that was worth moving quickly for. While they could always feel the pull of danger towards their siblings, their sanctuaries were not given such protective measures. The sanctuaries could certainly protects themselves in some ways, mostly by invoking fear that would cause others to just leave, but sometimes mistakes and accidents still happened.
Two days later and they were approaching Goldenrod City, having taken two very quick boats and then a just as fast bus ride to the magnet train between Kanto and Johto, it was the fastest attempt at travel between two places that Thomas and Radara had ever done before. Thomas just looked out the window as the city approached. Just barely rubbing Radara's ears a bit, he was still confused as to which of their homes it would be. Of course, with only partial images to go on, and nothing truly easy to identify the temple with, they could only follow the lead that Mewtwo had given them in Goldenrod at the moment.
As the train stopped at last at the central Goldenrod Transit Station, Thomas quickly got out and was already on his pokedex looking over a map of the city. Goldenrod was easily one of the largest cities in Johto, but it had been a considerably long time since he had last been there and the city had grown and changed a lot.
Moving quickly with Radara at his side, it was a bit of a walk, and they didn't exactly have a lot of time to make it in with the sun already setting. He had hoped that like in many other large cities, most places would be open later into the day and the museum would be one of them. Those plans were quickly dashed however when he pulled up the icon showing the museum on the map and it quickly stated that the museum was closed for the day for exhibit renovations, and would be open tomorrow for a grand opening of a joint display between Kanto and Johto historical displays and information.
Grumbling a bit, but at least he knew ahead of time before he just walked there and found out then. Looking up and then around the city, he would once more need a place to stay, but this time thought that perhaps he would do so outside the city, since they had spare time now.
"Well... this is unfortunate, the museum is closed today for renovations and may open around noon tomorrow." Thomas sighed as he looked down at Radara, wondering her opinions right now, both of them worried. As usual, he kept his voice low, the dozens of others just walking around them, the city easily far more than Thomas had hoped, but it was one of the major cities in the Johto region.
'I myself am annoyed about this, but there is no need for us to bend the laws of the humans in this instance. Our brothers and sisters are safe, and it is merely a potential theft of possessions. For all we know, the door was merely left open and they are only taking pictures of things that they could see. Its not the first time that humans have tried to enter our homes after all.' Radara stated, starting to walk along the path, just heading north for now.
"No, no it wouldn't be the first time. Its just that I've never seen that crystal before. Usually when one of our brothers or sisters wishes to make something in our likeness, they usually ask us to come in person, to talk with us while they enjoy the arts." Thomas just followed her lead for now since he had nothing better to do, and she seemed to have an idea as to where she was headed for now. "And then there's the fact that I don't even know who might have crafted that in the first place, or which of our homes its at."
'All things that are complicated by only having seen just a few partial images. I would have thought that if someone was asking for help about some kind of strange image in a temple, they might have at least included in image of the entrance or something else.' Radara said a bit annoyed, looking around for something, a turning down another crowded road, this one more so then usual.
Taking a look down the street, most of the crowd gathered around the contest hall. Sparing a glance, Thomas just shook his head a bit over the headline about how three of the better Kanto Cooridators were being charged with various things, including running a large scale gambling racket and attempting to rig multiple matches.
Radara even spared a glance herself as Thomas slowed, looking over the names, before giving a small sigh. 'And I guess anywhere there is fame, there are those who cheat to obtain it... It might also explain the crowd.'
"Well... at least I'm not seeing Sarah's name on the list of the charged coordinators... I know she would never do such a thing, but it looks like some other big names are up there too, no doubt just getting dragged into the mess..." Thomas said shaking his head a bit.
'You can't help but care for her as your friend, and now seeing this, it worries you on top of everything else.' Radara said, starting to look back over the crowds, and then starting through them, eager to lead the way to some more quiet now. 'And you still feel bad for our dishonest departure too don't you.'
"Sarah was always a far better people person than I am. She's a good friend, and I really don't hate her, but she's just... she loves the spot light. Well, no she just loves being around people, getting to know them, to help them, to do what's right and do her part. She's good at what she does and she does have a way of making people listen and trying to see the better parts of them, its just that... I just never did like large crowds, and I prefer a more quiet life and she likes having more people around." Thomas sighed. "And yeah, I do feel bad about how we just ditched Sarah like that."
Thomas just kept his head down for a few more seconds, but right as he looked up, he instantly caught of Sarah, who was now very clearly looking around, for him as she practically jumped in front of him.
"I thought I heard your voice calling my name Thomas." Sarah smiled, grinning from ear to ear as she took his hand.
'And this severely complicates matters...' Radara quickly stated stopping and turning around, moving back to Thomas's side, or trying to as Sarah pulled him off to the side.
"How's it going Thomas, I thought you would be staying on the Orange Islands for a while." Sarah said as she pulled Thomas down to sit next to her on a bench.
"I found the answers I was looking for there and they kinda lead me here to Johto." Thomas quickly stated, not exactly a lie, the answers of why he was headed to the Orange Islands was indeed Mewtwo, and Mewtwo had just so happened to lead him to Johto, although that was a story in and of itself for Sarah that Thomas wouldn't really be sharing. "But shouldn't you be in Kanto, I thought that was exactly where you wanted to go."
At the mention of Kanto though, Sarah let out a large exaggerated sigh. "Oh please don't remind me." She said just burying her head in her hands and shaking her head. "Ugh... I felt so confident that it was my year, that I'd make to the Master Cup this year and then now everything is under review and the Regional Contest Board decided to just delay the start of the season back a month." She stated, just barely pointing up to screens on the Contest Hall where the news was still going on about the various events. "I figured I could at least come here as a late entry into the Johto Regional contests to warm up, but they are full up for official Master entries, so I wouldn't be a full on competitor this season here either, and then I thought I would be stuck just kinda wandering around for a while." She said, only to quick perk back up and look at him, her smile back in full again.
"And then I thought heard you calling my name and here you are, so I'm at your side once again. Where are we heading next? I really really don't have anything better to do for now, so I'm good to travel with you for a month and this time, we really can catch up." She said very eagerly, Radara just hopping up into Thomas's lap.
'She's far too overly eager to be at your side again. Such simple tricks of having her follow other desires today will not be enough to deter her. I really don't want to be rude and just flatly force an improvised desire on her.' Radara stated, her own voice a bit annoyed now in Thomas's head, clearly not too happy about a tag-along, but at the same time, she too felt a guilty about how they ditched her last. She didn't even object when Sarah quickly reached over and rubbed slowly over her ears.
"So, where we going this time? I've got nothing but time and I'm ready to travel right now." Sarah smiled very eagerly now. "You said something about answers in the Orange Islands leading you here to Johto? Did you have a place to start or maybe a name you can follow up on. I'd love to help if you would let me."
"Well, kind of, but... its complicated and I'm not even sure about things myself." Thomas started. "I'm just kinda passing through Goldenrod at the moment, there's a place in the mountains that I'm looking for, but I don't know where yet. I'm just here to get some extra supplies for the trip while I try to figure out where it is."
"Oh, you really can't catch any breaks about this can you." Sarah said still just lightly rubbing Radara's ears. "Well, if you're here then I guess you'll be heading for some kinds of records place? I think the Goldenrod Museum has a large archives nearby. Maybe you could ask around there? They might... no, sorry. That whole block is shut down for a while. They're doing major renovations across the museum and attached buildings while they have a chance." Sarah said thinking about it herself, really wanting to help, happy to you even.
"Yeah, I noticed that when I arrived and checked the maps." Thomas sighed some, just looking down a bit annoyed. He really didn't want to invite Sarah into joining him again, but at the same time he still felt bad already.
"So you do have a nice idea on where to start. That should make things easier for you I hope." Sarah said, pulling out her pokedex and looking over a few things quickly. "It looks like they'll be opened back up tomorrow, so we could spend the night here, but that still gives us some times before then. Oh, I know, we could book a room at this really neat hotel I found that opened up last year. Its a quiet little spot that caters to trainers with small pokemon. Oh, here I'll pull up -"
"I was really kind of thinking of spending the night outside tonight, maybe along Route 35 or maybe somewhere on the coast." Thomas quickly cut her off before she could get too far. "I've spent the past few weeks in nothing but hotels and private rental rooms. I really could use the chance to just camp outside and let my pokemon stretch around."
"Oh, well yeah I guess you would have been in a lot of hotels looking for clues lately wouldn't you." Sarah said slowly, thinking it over. "But that's fine. Its important to give your pokemon some time to run around after all."
"Yeah, they've been a bit cramped up. I've only had one day to really let them move around since I went to the Orange Islands." Thomas explained, before just giving a small sigh. He knew that he had to do something right now, but he couldn't tell want, he didn't want to just blow Sarah off and plainly tell her no, but he also didn't want to just lie to her or make her do something else if there wasn't something else that she really wanted to do herself.
"You sure your okay Thomas? I've never seen you like this before... Did you find something that you don't like maybe? Was he... he wasn't with someone like Team Rocket was?" Sarah asked, quickly getting quiet and worried.
"No, no its nothing like that. Things are just very complicated and I'm not sure what to do right now." Thomas said, giving Radara a gentle pat on her head, Radara just nodding lightly and getting off to let Thomas up. "I'm still thinking about that offer with Devon Corp and I really should take it. If I do, it would still be a few months before I could be properly accepted into the program though, when the fall product lines come out and I'd be a new recruit then and there would be a lot of training over the fall and winter seasons before I'd be officially sponsored and it would be a full time job, but there's still just a lot on my mind. At least I have a few months to really figure this."
"Yeah, I can tell. You don't normally get like this." She said still rather worried about him.
"Look, I really don't know what I'm going to do right now. There's just so much more going on, and I don't know where to start or even if I should with some things... How about we go find a cafe to sit down for a bit and get something to eat for now and I'll buy. I really don't want to talk about any of that right now, but we could try talking about other things." Thomas offered, looking around to see what kind of places were around.
-x-
It took a little bit, but at last, Sarah found them a nice quiet little cafe that wasn't overly crowded, perhaps because it was by membership only. It just took a bit to get to given the growing crowds that had surrounded them, most of them looking up at the Contest Hall as more reports were coming in regarding Kanto's regional decisions about their annual Contest season, which apparently was coming off as a big shock to those who followed it in Johto.
Still, it was nice to find such a place, a rather old style combination cafe and pokecare center. Unlike a pokemon center that handle far more general and emergency medical problems with pokemon, often with the aid of various technologies, this pokecare center focused more and things like older styles of care like massages, herbal remedies, and slow careful care, in addition to doing a lot to help with a pokemon's looks.
Thomas easily understood now why Sarah guided him there after seeing how crowded so many other places were as they were guided to a seat in the outdoor courtyard on top of the pokecare center and were given a great view of the ocean and Sarah happily let her umbreon Moon out.
While Thomas and Sarah just took the seats, Radara and Moon happily hopped up onto the bench beside them while Thomas ordered them all something to eat and drink, a nice large batch of mixed berry salad with some yogurt and granola to make some parfaits as well as pitcher of berry juice for them to enjoy.
"So Thomas, are you sure you don't want to talk about what you found? I'm always here to talk if you need me. You can even give me a call anytime." Sarah said, making sure to leave the offer open, but not trying to push it while she filled up a small bowl for Moon as Thomas filled a bowl for Radara of the mixed berries with a little bit of yogurt on top for both of them.
"Yeah. A lot of things happened on the Orange Islands and I'm still trying to figure it all out myself. But thanks for the offer. If I decide I want to talk about it, I'll let you know though, right away even." Thomas nodded as he started a bowl for himself just as Sarah finished up making herself a bowl.
"There's just lots of thing that I really have to figure out for myself right now. Yes, I've always wandered around, but I've still been thinking about what to do with my life. I've spent time learning things over my life and I can support myself, its just... well the world is so large." Thomas sighed a bit.
"And you never could just stay in one place for too long." Sarah said nodding a bit, Thomas having always been like that as far she knew. She couldn't think of a time since he started his own journey that he was in one place for long, but even then he was still always ready to help others.
"Yeah, I just... I like to move around a lot." Thomas said after a few, knowing he couldn't explain why.
"Oh, that reminds me. Before we head out to find a campsite, I've got a new recipe I want to share with you. I need to do a little shopping before hand then." Sarah smiled as she rushed to pull out her pokephone and checked her notes on it. "I think you'll love it."
"Oh, well this should be interesting." Thomas just barely nodded though, wondering how to convince Sarah not to join him right now only to be interrupted.
As Thomas and Sarah were eating, someone else quickly pulled up a seat and just sat between them. "So... hows that BW-450 working out? Must be pretty good. Sure would be nice if I could try it out myself..." A very annoyed trainer stated, the new comer to their table.
"And how exactly did you get here? I was under the impression that we would have some privacy here..." Thomas stated, very much annoyed recognizing the trainer and his many badges, as well as attitude from the last time that the same trainer had come up unannounced.
"Oh, I just named you personally, the Adopted son of Andrew and Vivian Falston, Mr. Thomas Falston . . . and you owe me a battle and that pokedex there. So, how about you get on that pokedex part so I show it off proper in the battle afterwards." The trainer stated, quickly pulling out a sponsorship card with his name in bright fancy letters being sponsored by The Silver Conference Board, doing nothing but showing off his supposed status as being better, and rite to make demands. He also made it a point to show it off to Thomas, but then pulled out a pen and signed it, before handing it to Sarah.
"Um... sorry, I think I'll pass Mr. Indigo?" Sarah said rather confused, looking at the card long enough to get a name, and then gently passing it back.
"Please, call me Eric." The trainer smiled, rather happily and gently at Sarah. "My father is Mr. Indigo of Indigo Industries, the top construction company for most pokemon related structures throughout Kanto and Johto. They build the gyms, the pokemon stadiums, work on the upkeep to of pokecenters, that sorta thing. I'm the first actual trainer of my family to try the gym challenge though, and how lucky I am to be sponsored by The Silver Conference." He said rather happily.
"Listen Eric, I real-" Thomas started only for Eric to quickly hold a finger and shake it.
"That's Mr. Indigo Jr. for anyone who happens to be a coward with no respect for others. You're damn lucky I was there back in Hoenn, because that Team Magma Grunt wasn't stalking me, he was after your pokemon and the only reason you still have your pokemon is because I ran him off FOR you." Eric quickly stated. "Which brings us back to the whole thing again... and now that I think about it, you owe me one hell of an apology. And I will be getting that pokedex one way or another."
"Listen Eric, I really don't care. I'm NOT risking my parents job just so you can get something. Kindly go away please." Thomas stated firmly.
"Do you two know each other?" Sarah asked, very much confused, Radara just glaring up at the trainer, even giving a little hiss.
"This is just some idiot who thinks that he's some great gift to trainer kind and expects me to break the rules, risk my parents and maybe my own future job for the sake of getting him inside access to things like this." Thomas stated giving his pokedex a minor shake to show what he meant.
"Excuse me ma'am. I'm a plus one for Sarah here, but I don't know this trainer and he's blatantly harnessing me demanding my pokedex and a battle." Thomas stated quickly as the waitress came up, looking them all over.
"Sir?" The waitress asked looking them over.
"Its fine ma'am, no need to worry yourself. This is between me and him." Eric stated. "I'm just waiting around for that battle he owes me and once I win and get my payment for a proper legal battle that you already agreed to, you can stop worrying about losing to me cause it will be over and done with."
"Thomas doesn't owe you anything. You came up and started harassing him. Why should he risk his own sponsorship with Devon Corp, much less his parents jobs to get you something that you know he can't legally do at all. He didn't get that pokedex just because he wanted it, he earned it by helping people out properly and risking his own health." Sarah quickly stated, pulling out her own pokedex, showing herself as a full on member of the pokecare center to the waitress. "Thomas here is one of my plus ones, Mr. Indigo Jr. is not." Sarah quickly stated.
"Devon Corp Sponsorship huh..." Eric stated, only to grin rather smugly.
"Sir, I'm going to have to ask you leave for disrupting our clients." The waitress stated, seeing who Sarah was now and her high value membership with the pokecare center. "If you would please step this way and leave peacefully."
"Fine fine, I'm leaving for now. But thank you very much, you've been a great help. That BW-450 will be mine." Eric stated, quickly looking for something in his pokedex, and then showing his grin once more, Thomas's pokedex going off with a new alert, an official League Trainer Head to Head Public Battle request, one of the larger and usually far more serious types of trainer battle requests, this one tagged with sponsorship claims.
Thomas of course, very quickly closed the battle request, and thankfully even managed to find and quickly file a small complaint while he was at it when he denied the battle request, labeling it as "other" and filling out the small text box with such notes as harassment, demanding his pokedex as a reward, and being a general nuisance. While he was at it, he also found a nice little built in heavy weight tested cable on the bottom with clip that he attached to his belt, along with a siren feature just incase Eric tried to flat out steal it.
Thomas still grumbled a bit though, putting his pokedex away after making sure it was secure and this time just leaving it away, pulling out his pokephone that he hadn't used since he got the new pokedex. Looking through a few quick things to make sure he was still up to date on it, he just set it back down. "Sarah, I thank you greatly for this, but I just need some time right now and I'm sorry. I just... Its complicated and I need to figure this out for myself before I can even try to talk about it with anyone."
Sarah understood and just lightly nodded. She knew that he clearly had been through quite a lot since his birthday and she wanted to help, but she wouldn't force him to talk about it though, she could wait until he was ready. "Why don't we just head out to find a campsite for now. Its not really late yet, but a chance out of the city might be what you need most right now." Sarah said, finishing up her bowl.
Thomas just nodded a bit, even Radara nodding with him as she hopped down from the bench, Moon following Sarah as Thomas went up and paid for everything. Just still taking it slow, the two started to leave unaware of how crowded things were.
As Thomas and Sarah left the pokecare center, the crowds had seemed to only grow and grow. Almost immediately at the door, there were multiple large groups of people wondering around and there was something of a scene around them, someone causing something of a ruckus not that Thomas or Sarah were trying to find or listen to it though.
It wasn't until just randomly hearing the phrase of legendary pokemon that Thomas paid any real attention however. As they were walking down the street trying to get out of the crowds quickly, someone was moving quickly and seemed to be searching for something with their friends throughout the argument that they were having.
"I'm telling you that I can feel it maaaan." The one trainer stated with a heavy accent, but almost maybe drunk, it a bit hard to tell with their deep voice. "Someone around here has a legendary pokemon, its in my bones, I know it." They stated.
Thomas just barely listened to the words and chances are that it was all just a play by the trainer to make themselves look better to friends. It was just kind of a thing that happened and usually it was all meaningless for Thomas, but sometimes it did create some problems. Most of the time, these meaningless phrases were just ignored and played off as a joke, but occasionally these types of claims made a big scene and things would get out of hand fast, and so Thomas just tried to slowly speed up a bit, pulling out his pokedex uncaring what he pulled out right now to try and make an excuse of needing to pick up a few last minute things.
"Hey, I almost forget. You wanted to do some shopping right? I could use a few things myself real quick before we head out." Thomas said, Sarah nodding and moving to keep up with him knowing how late it was getting.
"Yeah, just a few things. Its call a "mug-cake", a little single serve cake that you can make just about anywhere. You can make them up in little heatable travel cups over a fire even with some minor adjustments and its really new." Sarah said, pulling out her pokephone and checking her notes on it, only for trouble to show up.
"I knew it, I knew it. Pardon miss, Miss?" The voice who had claimed the thing about feeling legendary pokemon called out almost rushing forward. The trainer was an older one, not much older then Sarah and Thomas, but it was hard to tell given that they easily looked out of place, wearing some slightly fancy but older looking clothing, if exotic and definitely foreign which covered up almost their whole body even parts of their face in almost a dozen belts and possibly trying to make themselves look like a giant zipper or something given how many straps and more were present, his two friends dressed much the same.
"Uh... yes?" Sarah asked very confused when she was confronted. The trio just seemed to try and push Thomas away though, making him almost topple over safety rail into the nearby water way.
"Miss, you have a legendary pokemon, I know, I feel it man. Oh sorry dude, could you give us a moment, your throwing off my vides." The trainer stated scooting away from Thomas, but his companions just stepped between the trainer and Thomas and Radara. "Could you show my buddies here, show them I'm not a liar, that I can really feel legendary pokemon?"
'I don't know what he's playing at, but he can't be sensing Suicune, we are safe. His mind is addled though... I think he is drunk and high off something, his thoughts are a swirling mess. Its... ugh its like Tobbisa's scrap drawer.' Radara quickly stated, highly annoyed with intrusion, but giving it a look. There was nothing special about the man, it was mere random chance.
A bit annoying, but willing to wait, Thomas just nodded, scooting over just a bit and leaning back on a post to give them the room they clearly wanted for a few knowing this wouldn't take long, or at least hoping it wasn't.
"I'm sorry, but I really don't." Sarah quickly responded though shaking her head a bit.
"But I can feel it man. You touched one, you played with one, you have to have one." The trainer pushed the topic more, almost begging and even using some exaggerated hand motions.
"I mean sorta, I saw a Mew up close and he played with me." Sarah stated, trying to back up a bit, Moon getting between her and the trainer.
"See, see! You have one, a legendary pokemon. I knew it." The trainer half cheered.
"But I didn't catch it and I haven't seen any others even sort of up close." Sarah quickly added.
"What, but you just said you played with one, how could you not catch it? You actually touched Mew, maybe one of the rarest of the legendary pokemon, so rare it was thought a myth! You played with it and you didn't catch it!" The trainer half yelled, the conversations quickly getting a growing sum of attention now from many people around them, dozens of eyes starting to look on at Sarah and the trainer.
"He was just too playful, I couldn't bring myself to do it okay? It felt better to leave him free." Sarah said looking around quickly and seeing how many people were starting to try and close in on her. This was what Thomas feared more though as he pushed around a bit as the crowd gathered tighter around Sarah.
Thomas was about to offer some help as he got up, only to get jerked back a bit, having accidentally somehow gotten his belt stuck on part of the safety rail, a small broken shard having gone entirely unnoticed and just grabbing one of the loose spare loops for extra gear, reaching back to try and free himself, it took a few seconds before the shard just popped right off Thomas jerked forward a bit, right into someone who just quickly pushed him back again since he had accidentally shoved them.
Thomas didn't have any chance to react though, still holding his pokedex and apparently activating some sort of noisy app on the device. Quickly pulling it up to see what app he accidentally turned on that was making noise, he barely had a chance to understand what the mere seconds timer was, or the soft voice command that was explaining the app in question.
"Releasing pokemon, slot five in five seconds. Four. Three. Two. One." The thing stated, only for it to suddenly click.
"No, n-" Thomas quickly started half shouting, in a near panic as a bright flash of white appeared in the crowd, Suicune suddenly in the middle of a large group of people, the only "safe" space where there was enough room on the ground that she could have spawned several feet from Thomas.
"I'm telling you I-" The one trainer was still going on as he turned to see who had called out what pokemon and sure enough, there was a legendary pokemon right in front of him.
Suicune just looked on very confused right now, surrounded by dozens of people and a few pokemon in utter silence, a few people just slowly raising up their phones to take a photo, a minute later a number of trainers calling out there pokemon and trying to shove everyone away, Thomas getting forcibly knocked back from where he was right over the railing into the waterway along with a few others.
Before any fighting could start though, three large "suited" arcanines wearing what looked like strap on body armor with "Police Pokemon Unit" on the sides quickly surrounded Suicune and stood at the ready around her, two officers quickly rushing up. "HEY HEY! HALT!" They screamed out, moving right up to where Suicune was, still wondering what was happening.
'You... your not going to hurt us right?' One of the arcanines quickly asked Suicune, a bit worried himself.
'We're here to help, please don't hurt us...' A second one quickly asked, her whine showing just how worried she was
"There is no fighting legendary pokemon in city limits... Its was outlawed for a reason!" The first officer quickly screamed to make his point seeing how many pokemon were present, some of them large like one fool who had called out an Snorlax that had shoved several people out of the way. "And you, with the snorlax, put it away now, that pokemon is TOO large to be out right now!"
Despite the police though, many trainers were still getting ready for a battle as the two officers rushed up and helped their arcanines protect Suicune as best they could, blowing their whistles as one quickly pulled up their own police grade pokedex, colored a very bright white and blue and two little flashing lights to draw attention to it. "Listen up, I already have all trainers in the area recorded. If you pick a fight here, we WILL FIND you and you'll be banned from pokemon training, gym battles, contests, herding, ranching, or even general pokemon related work for the next year!"
While this threat seemed to work a bit on many trainers, and a few even quickly called back their pokemon merely only shouting out a few foul words at the police for trying to stop them from becoming famous, but not everyone as the stand off continued, only the snorlax really moving, but instead slowly turning away from Suicune, its trainer not noticing what was going on.
Most places around the group of trainers, police, and Suicune had turned off everything and so it quiet aside from some foul words here and there, and a few people trying to egg others on, the police quickly trying to take pictures of whoever was trying to instigating things while waiting for other officers to rush to the scene.
In the near silence though, a soft new sound was starting, a constant cheerful repeating cry and a motor for something small. "Rii Rii Chu. Rii Rii Chu. Rii Rii Chu." The sound was soft at first, but getting louder, only noticeable because of the lack of sound around the scene, the motor some kind of electric one. The Snorlax was quick to focus in on it though, and just down the road, a moped appeared, a driver in the main seat, a large food case on a case behind him, and on the front was a second smaller seat that a raichu was powering the whole thing, both the driver and raichu dressed in pizza delivery outfits.
The moped quickly moved the scene, completely unaware of what was going on, only hearing the shouting, but just moving right on past, before seeing the snorlax starting right at him and giving a gulp, speeding up a bit. The snorlax quickly let out a bellow and charged, not at Suicune like its trainer commanded, being the first to fully ignore the police. Instead, the snorlax rammed right through a number of other people pushign them all to the side as it rushed for the moped.
The moped quickly doubled its speed and once its raichu noticed what was coming, it screamed out, giving it plenty of extra juice as well. It was also however, the spark that quickly ignited everything as multiple trainers tried to go after Suicune, who jumped over several of them and dove right for the water way and rushed along the water straight out into the ocean, sprinting fast to get to safety.
In their efforts though, a dozen eager trainers wanting to try and capture Suicune for themselves and jumped the railing, not even looking as they all fell into the water way, to say nothing of the pokemon ordered to jump after their trainers and try and capture Suicune who was already in the ocean, running over the water's surface to quickly get away.

Down at the coast, Thomas was picking himself up, coughing and sputtering a bit as he was pulled down the waterway. He had somehow managed to pull himself to the coast, but was soaking wet, Radara rushing down to help him, jumping the wooden fence and quickly hopping down the decorated stone terrace from the walkways were they were at formerly. Along with her were Moon and Sarah, Radara having brought her along in the mess to keep her safe and not let her get hurt, but most importantly to not cause that much of a scene. It took Sarah a few to get down since she couldn't just jump down like Moon or Radara to say nothing of the extra bag that she was carrying, Thomas's bag.
Radara was there quickly, checking over Thomas as Thomas checked his belt for his pokeballs first, feeling all of them still there. "Well... at least I still have my pokeballs, which means the others are safe and sound. So much for that new pokedex... There's no way I just fish it out of the waterway... " Thomas grumbled, just very very angry about things in general.
"Not exactly... Its still on your belt. Well, kinda... Its stuck on the loop you clipped it to instead of its actual space." Sarah said as she hopped down the last step to get down the coast with Thomas and their pokemon. "I really don't want to be mean Thomas, but... was this the kind of luck you back on the Orange Islands? I mean a pokemon attacked our window in a hotel in Hoenn, and then when I found you again, Suicune appears before us and we almost get caught in an illegal pokemon battle of people trying to steal it."
"You could say that... It wasn't exactly easy on the Orange Islands for me." Thomas said, reaching back and sure enough finding his new pokedex still there. Giving it a minor pull, he got some slack on it before clicking it properly to his belt back its proper spot.
'We should hurry to the pokemon center so that you can get changed before we head out for the evening. I dislike this situation, but it may be best if Sarah joined us for the night. I will release Mewtwo and explain things to him while you're getting cleaned up in the pokemon center.' Radara suggested to Thomas alone, Thomas merely giving a small nod as he got up.
"Let's go find some place where I get into something dry and then we can head out... I am kind of... annoyed with large crowds at the moment." Thomas sighed a bit, reaching back to pull his trainer's wallet, and seeing that it was still secure, he opened the case long enough to make sure that everything was still dry inside before closing it back up.
"There's a pokemon center just down the road here right? How about I go there and get cleaned up, and you go get something for dinner tonight and whatever else you want, and once we're both ready, we can go find a place to camp for the night. I do not want to sleep here tonight..." Thomas grumbled a bit, slowly walked down the beach, but just taking and holding his bag off to the side now. Carefully pulling off Mewtwo's pokeball as he walked though, he let Radara take it and just gently hold it in her split tail, only making sure that Sarah didn't question it. More, Sarah just thought it normal that Radara would be with her, but also thought nothing of her absence for a few moments
In just a little bit of a rush, mostly to get out of his wet clothing, Thomas just made his way to right to the pokemon center down the road, while Sarah turned off to find the nearest trainer supply shop. Slowing down to make sure Sarah went off and no one else was around, Thomas nodded as he started again for the pokemon center and Radara went her own way.
As soon as he entered though, the current nurse was quick to notice him. "Oh my... are you okay?" The nurse asked as Thomas just pulled off three of his pokeballs and pulled out his pokedex, moving it up and merely doing a quick scan check in.
"Its been a long day. I've got three pokemon for a quick checkup." Thomas said. "Oh, and I'll need a quick shower."
"Of course of course." The nurse stated, pulling out a small tray and syncing it to Thomas's pokedex. "Your just in luck, its been a slow day and all the showers should be open, please do go in and wash up." She said smiling, before starting up the check up machine as Thomas walked off into the back following the signs for the trainer showers.
He wasted very little time getting himself cleaned back up and just put his wet clothes into a water tight bag after toweling them off to wash later before getting changed and finally walking out. The whole time though, he couldn't help but wonder about the state of things right now. There was no calling today because it was his own mistake, his own hand that caused the mess around Suicune, no matter how much he wanted to blame the new pokedex. It would have felt so much better to just push the blame around, but he was always one to own up to things in the end.
It was a total disaster as far as he was concerned, but as he got dressed and made sure everything was put away proper, he could already hear something about an emergency pokemon news report on the pokemon centers announcement systems as he walked out of the bathes.
"This just in. . . A massive disturbance occurred this evening in Goldenrod City, when a legendary pokemon, Suicune the Purifier, was apparently released in the middle of a crowded intersection along the coast. Police have asked us not to disclose the location at this time and are still at the scene trying to rescue at least three remaining trainers who attempted to followed the legendary pokemon Suicune when she jumped into a water way and then ran off into open waters and at least a dozen over zealous trainers jumped in after her trying to follow her. It is unknown who managed to capture the first legendary pokemon world-wide, but what video evidence we have seen so far does confirm that Suicune was indeed released from a pokeball prior to appearing in the middle of the crowded intersection. Directly related to the event, the tens if not hundreds of thousands of trainers trying to access the Trainer Network because of the sighting caused a temporary shut down of the site from being over loaded while T.N.E. was trying to update the site at the same time. The Goldenrod City Servers are expected to be in the next few hours when T.N.E. finishes installing the new servers for Goldenrod City, but even the regional and national servers have been slowed down by the heavy increase in traffic."
The radio quickly answered most questions that Thomas had but dreaded asking as he looked up and gave a loud annoyed sigh, finally dressed in full. Putting his backpack on at last and double checking his pokedex once more, and then double checked the rest of his gear. Finally dry and clean again, he thanked the nurse as he collected the three pokeballs he had given to her to check over before walking out. He was a bit surprised to find Sarah had already returned and was waiting on a bench outside with Radara and Moon both at her side, waiting for him.
"Welp, its all over the city already. News spreads fast, and there have been over three dozen arrests of all types of pokemon trainers." Sarah said, getting up and putting away her own pokedex where she had been checking the news.
"Yeah, its probably on every news channel right now in the city and will be a headline tomorrow." Thomas said, just trying to play it off.
'Mewtwo has... made a strange request. He now wants to continue to travel with us. He says that we have suddenly become very interesting and whats to see how we will react to this development... He confuses me greatly.' Radara said Thomas moved up and gave her a gentle rub to her ears, thanking her for all of her help keeping them safe after his mistake. Her words quickly drew a fair amount of confusion from Thomas as well, who just dropped his head a bit.
"Thomas, is something else wrong? Surely you didn't run into Entie or Raikou while taking a shower?" Sarah asked seeing him drop his head, Thomas just barely shaking his head.
"I... I'll explain later, let's just go." Thomas said as he started to walk down the road, trying to get away from Goldenrod for the night, not looking forward to tomorrow at all when he would be forced to return. "I'll … When we find a camp and it happens, you'll understand why things are complicated."
"Oookay." Sarah said, now confused herself, but getting up and following along, just letting Thomas lead the way for the moment.

It was an easy half hour before Thomas found a place on a beach that he was okay with waiting at, entirely isolated and alone while Thomas set up the tent, while Sarah worked to get a fire going on. While the two of them worked on their tasks, Thomas just turned at last towards the water, not quite done, but close enough, his tent wouldn't collapse by mistake while he explained things.
"Thomas... are you really going to explain wh-wha-wha-..." Sarah started, looking up seeing Thomas stop putting the tents up and then turning to face the ocean where something was rushing towards them, barely seen as the sun had just barely set in full and only the moon was casting some light over the open waters.
Sure enough though, something was moving towards them, Suicune running up and slowing down to a walk. She just slowly walked up, walking straight for Thomas and gently nuzzled his cheek, Thomas rubbing her chin and neck slowly.
"I am so sorry about that. My pokedex has some kind of thing that lets pokemon out of their pokeballs on a timer and I couldn't stop it." Thomas said, knowing that Sarah was there, everything just hitting her at once.
"T-thomas... are you the trainer who... who?" Sarah asked, stuttering a bit as she looked on, Thomas just slowly turning, before releasing Mewtwo as well.
"Mewtwo... do not hurt her, she is my friend. I trust her fully, she won't cause us problems." Thomas quickly stated as Mewtwo was released and looked around, quickly locking eyes with Sarah, before Thomas looked back to Sarah.
"Sarah... this is what I found while on the Orange Islands. And why things are so complicated for me. I... Well, Mew wasn't a mistake. I've been helping the legendary pokemon for years, trying to make sure that no one caught them, but then Suicune demanded to travel with me personally and didn't give me a choice." Thomas said, Suicune just nuzzling Thomas more, and even wrapping her ribbons over his arms and chest, making the point that she demanded to stay at Thomas's side.
