Chapter 51 : Coria Crostovia
'How do you want to do this? I will have my aura guardians aid you, but I will not risk this location at this time. If we are to earn trust with the people, we must not be seen as a problem, and I will not risk danger those those here only to learn.' Morag asked, and already Dahlia was in careful thought.
"We need to her isolated, but in town. There needs to be enough people around so that she won't directly cause a scene, and she needs to think she's safe enough to not outright be attacked or attack us. I can't confront her at first, but we need to do this with Latias and Latios both here with me. Its public knowledge that the Aura Guardians are returning, aiding the legendary pokemon. A few of them could make an invitation to her, lead her to a place of our choosing in the city, where we could potentially lock her down. She couldn't break out of the defensive barriers of Alto Mare." Thomas stated, looking to Latias.
'A lock down would require turning on the D.M.A. If the knights are coming in force, turning it on is a good idea, but I don't want to just do that out of nowhere. When we left it on before, the people knew of it. To suddenly lock off portions of the city now in crystalline barriers may cause more of a panic then it would solve unless the city is under siege.' Latias stated slowly, not moving much even as her words sounded slowly. Still, she just kind of floated there, eyes still glowing brightly as Latios looked over Coria.
"The gardens, the museum, Anchor Square... those are all places with isolated mechanisms right? Have you turned all of them off?" Dahlia asked.
'All of them. Anything that D.M.A. had access points to was shut down. The core of the gardens was always independent and let us continue to tinker some, but we've only really turned on the hologram systems, lights, heat, and merely expanded the barrier and illusion controls.' Latias replied slowly once more.
"Well, we do need her in town, and around some people. We need her to fully think that she will be judged as a knight if she takes hostile action, but we can't put others in danger needlessly. She's a future king, her image is important right now, its why she hasn't outright come after us. Times are changing, and if she is to have any kind of public respect between the people and the Knights, she needs a good public image, reasons for the people to respect her. We have to abuse this fact, its only major advantage that we have to exploit that would keep her from attacking. What things in the city can we use to take advantage of this?" Dahlia stated.
"Can you turn on the DMA around just the churches? Inform priests what you're doing, but only them, that way we can limit confusion and panic once it gets turned on." Xent asked following the conversation, speaking up when Latias stayed silent for a moment though.
'The DMA is either on or off. And to even turn it on would cause a scene, the main control device is in the museum and we would have to lock down the museum or else risk someone attempting to access it.' Latias replied.
"Its also a very bad idea to do this around the churches right now. With the recent revelations of the legendary stepping up again, the churches who have tried to stay true to our mother's teachings are popular and crowded these days. We don't need a trainer with an inflated ego trying to join and cause more problems or something worse to happen." Thomas added, Xent giving a firm nod.
"Yeah, bad idea then. Hm... illusions, how fast can they be turned on? If she makes a break for it, we can make her believe some routes are closed off and force her into an area we want." He inquired, Dahlia thinking about it herself now wondering if it would work as she made a few motions with her hands, possibly drawing a map or something or just thinking about where such a thing might work.
'They would be difficult to reproduce quickly, but not impossible. We would need time to attempt this though. If she knows the city though, it will be easy to tell that something is wrong however. There are many easy to use maps around the city, including digital applications. The city has never been that confusing for those who took a moment to learn about it.' Latias continued.
"Then we bring her to a section of the city she's not familiar with yet and don't give her time to study it. Additionally, both you and Latios can move much faster than her. One of you can turn invisible and follow her. If she tries to go through an illusion wall, put up a psychic barrier to convince her she can't get through. She won't waste time getting through if she's on the run." Xent stated.
"That... might require something more than Latias and Latios can do. While they can manipulate some things psychically, they don't exactly now how to do the whole making psychic barrier thing to make walls or such. Their defensive abilities are more personal or direct in nature." Thomas stated, Xent quickly looking at Latias now.
"What... seriously. No I won't sass you right now, but... wow?" Xent stated in shock, before Latios seemed to focus in on something, a set of three pokedexs just sitting on a table beside a few various swords and some glass vials.
"So... serious question. Do you actually have anything that can turn someone invisible? If so you can carry Verna to setup a barriers whenever she tries to go through." Xent asked as Thomas seemed to focus in a bit on the pokedex while Latios more importantly noted some vials of liquid besides the swords. As Latios moved in closer, the group could almost smell something now.
"What is that smell?" Sarah asked, every one slightly distracted by the strange scent.
'Yes... what is this strange sensation? I can almost feel as thought I can smell something and yet not...' Morag asked, Rebecca taking a few slow but loud sniffs as it trying to find the source.
'Its a sweet smell, but I... wait, I do know this smell. Don't let the sweet smell fool you though. Iapapa berries are bitter. It almost smells like a bush in bloom to lure pokemon to the bush, but it missing something, like its not the proper luring smell to it.' Rebecca stated.
'Poisons... Strong ones. Latios says that he is almost overwhelmed by the smell, and I can almost taste it. I'm sorry if I am projecting it onto you all.' Latias stated slowly.
Xent thought on the mention of poison though, wondering why something like that was used of all things. Slowly, he recalled a few other mentions of poisons since his time joining Thomas, and then remembered part of the talk back in Xanadu Nursery before Dahlia took Thomas's tonfa to free herself, and them remembered a few other conversations as well. "She may have a plan to poison Thomas, maybe with a dart or his food. She knows she can't attack outright, so something much more subtle. She may be brewing it here because trying to carry it here would be too risky... or at least that's my guess."
"Poisons won't kill us by themselves in small amounts, they'll just leave me weakened enough to let them try and get a fatal injury of some kind. It would need to be repeated large and strong doses to do lasting harm, much less kill. Its not to say that I'm immune to them though. At our best, we just naturally use recover in response to any harm. Its just something of an automated response to most poisons that would just happen." Thomas replied.
"That won't stop her from trying. At the very least she'd be aiming to weaken you, tail you until she'd hope to find you more isolated. If she's brewing that much poison, she may be aiming to get the highest concentration possible. I can't think of any other reason as to why she'd need to be working with poison." Xent stated.
"She won't take Thomas on alone. She knows better. They may have his sword, but they know that at the very least, he has something else by now. Also, they won't use darts. They've tried various firearms before, but to no effect as far as they can tell, to say nothing of that time that they attacked Asuka in that museum." Dahlia said moving over to Latias after asking for Thomas's pokedex, which Thomas readily handed her.
With the mention of firearm though, and how the knights didn't use them, Xent once more recalled the converstation from Cameran Castle right before they were attacked by the knights. "Say... did one of you really slap a cannon ball out of the air?"Xent asked.
"Asuka had a combination of steel and psychic type traits. To say that she was hard to hurt was an understatement. I'm told that the knights tried to corner her in the Luxar region eighty-six years ago. I only got second hand information about it though." Thomas said as he watched Dahlia bring up some maps.
"Didn't that guy on the phone who called the queen mention something about having footage. Isn't that like before the age of video recording?" Xent asked.
"There were video style cameras back then, at least to some degree. But yes, your right that it wasn't common enough that just anyone would have had it. No, the footage they have of Asuka backhanding a cannon ball out of the air from like ten feet away was stored in a time flower that was also in the museum. They've been studying that fight ever since they got it, and have since recorded it from multiple angles to try and train other knights and show them the dangers of trying to fight us alone." Dahlia stated.
"I'm sorry... cannon ball from ten feet away? And she just back handed it?" Sarah gasped out in shock, Thomas giving a small shrug again.
"Well, that explains it." Xent stated rather simply now starting to understand why the knights didn't use fire arms now.
"Hey... What about Aria's Rest? The knights have never had a strong standing here in Alto Mare. They've been run off pretty much every time they've tried. It used to be called Watcher's Rest, and it had some isolated crystals in it, to give us freedom of how to rest in peace there." Dahlia said pulling up a very specific part of the map and then showing it to Latias, and in turn Latios.
"What's this about a Watcher's Rest?" Sarah asked.
"It was a... well mini sanctuary, right here in the city. It was a place of rest of us back before the Knights, to always have a place to rest in the city with a little privacy. I know the building is still standing, but I saw some signs on it, so its clearly been repurposed after so long. The basement had similar mechanisms to the sanctuary doors though and had its own control mechanisms." Thomas said.
"And its not connected to the rest of Alto Mare... It doesn't have any major defensive systems, but the building still has crystalline walls underneath the stone work, making it structurally strong and has a four floors. Its one of the tallest buildings in Alto Mare. If we could get her up on the third or fourth floor, we can barricade the only stair case coming back down. Even if a battle did take place, the building would be able to take it." Dahlia explained pulling up a bit of information about the building, and how it was just technically just a storage space for the museum right now.
"Its worth a shot. If nothing else, we can just turn on the crystals there and give it the appearance that's far more important then it is." Thomas stated.
'We can do this. We need to talk with the director of the museum. He already knows of us, and of the mechanism. We would need his permission to attempt to do this however.' Latias stated.
~xXx~
The new few hours were spent preparing for Coria. Latios had quietly tailed her a few times, and Coria seemed to think that something might have been following her, but there were no real signs to suggest that she knew what was going on. At last though, things in Aria's Rests were moved around, the building's crystals turned back on, the group ready to lure Coria in to try and talk.
While not the most isolated place, a powerful suggestion from Dahlia, Radara, Latias, and Thomas managed to keep all the children and many adults away from the building itself and hopefully out of harms way, while a number of Rangers, police, and the lucarios were there helping to clean things up and make it look like the building was repurposed for Latias and Latios. Latios gave them advance warning that Coria was on the move and heading towards Alto Mare.
The two rangers and their aura guardian lucarios were walking slowly through the city, easily following Coria now. The minute that she had docked, she just felt something slightly off, and now as she walked into the market. As always, she was wearing a large outfit to hide herself, a large wide rimmed hat and fancy glasses, with a bright face mask adorned with the maw of a vaporeon, and even a partial vaporeon costume pretending to just be another fancy trainer.
Currently at her side was a vaporeon and an eevee to help her blend in as just another non-local trainer. She wanted to be seen enough as a non-local trainer to be treated a bit better, to encourage the shops and people to treat her nicely and hopefully be more willing to up about information that would be helpful. At the same time, it would also help show her what places were guarded and those who weren't local wouldn't exactly be welcome. It was a delicate balance of being seen just enough while still hiding her face enough.
She couldn't shake the feeling of being watched in a different way though and then a few minutes after arriving, she was approached.
"Excuse me, Miss... Miss in the vaporeon outfit?"One of the rangers called out, walking up a bit more quickly, the vaporeon at her side giving a small growl to try and scare off the ranger, but Coria quickly called off her pokemon with a simple hand gesture. It would have been bad to make a scene in front of so many people with a ranger, much less one bearing the marks of the Arceus Division who while new to the city, were more then just openly welcomed.
"Miss, apologies. I'm Ranger Daniel with the Arceus Division, and we'd like a word please." The Ranger quickly stated as he moved up with his ranger partner and the aura guardian lucarios, both making sure to wear full aura guardian outfits tailored to their bodies. Large blue and dark grey outfits, with a stylized hat and cloak, they had indeed captured the look of aura guardians in the past, and did have a small crowd following them.
"Did... I do something wrong?"Coria asked slowly.
'Not at all madam. I call myself Hammah.' One of the two lucario's stated, walking up and offering a paw. 'I am one of the chosen asked to aid the Legendary Pokemon and have taken up the mantle of being aura guardian once more to help aid them. I'm here looking for things that may help our kingdom grow and in turn help the World Mother Arceus herself!' Hammah stated introducing herself before the other lucario at Hammah's side also moved up.
'And I am Gale. I am also an aura guardian. We come to you with an offer of invitation. The feelings of devotion, and desires to seek the truth are strong in you.' Gale stated, looking over Coria, slowly walking around her, clearly inspecting her.
Coria however seemed very confused, looking over the two lucarios having only heard rumors of some pokemon, such as lucarios being to communicate so easily. Ranger Daniel just moved up a bit, and lightly rubbed Hammah's head and ears some. "Yes miss, they do speak. Aura, the power of the lucarios can do many things. It gives them an extra sense, they can use it to attack and defend, and with enough strength and training, they can come to speak in a form telepathy, not unlike how some psychic pokemon communicate with each other." Daniel stated, Hammah enjoying the hand with a good smile, but still reaching up to pull the hand off.
'As much as I like this... I'm here to work today, my alpha has given me a task to do.. Don't tease me.' Hammah stated slowly before looking back to Coria. Moving up closer to her and extending a paw, Hammah tried to give a caring smile.
'Latias extends a personal invitation. She wishes to discuss things with you. We were asked to find people with strong devotion and a yearning for truth, to find those eager to help in these changing times.' Hammah explained.
'And your aura reveals much. We can see how devoted you are to yourself and your choices, that you have a strong desire for things that you want.' Gale added, still moving around her some. The vaporeon at her side still seemed a little agitated with them both though, Gale just backing off a little bit.
"And... you're taking me to see Latias?" Coria asked, the rangers nodding.
"That is what she has asked. For us to keep an eye for certain people and according to Hammah and Gale here, you are one of the people that the city's guardians, Latias, would like to see and talk with." Ranger Daniel stated.
"And... him?" Coria asked, looking over at the other ranger, who had stayed silent the entire time.
The other ranger just waved lightly, before finally speaking. "I'm just a new recruit of sorts. Daniel here is showing me the ropes. Still just trying to wrap my head around the whole... legendary pokemon deciding to well... well start interacting with people more. I've always been a ranger, but this. Its something else and I'm still adjusting to it." The other ranger explained, Coria still not sure what was going on.
She just nodded lightly though, before looking back to Hammah and Gale, her vaporeon still growling lightly, a bit too protective right now. "Rivers, behave." Coria stated somewhat firm and her vaporeon backed up a bit taking an unwanted seat at her side, even her eevee doing the same on the other side of her.
"I'm sorry, this is just... Latias wants to see me specifically, because I'm devoted to myself?" Coria asked, trying to understand the situation, not sure if she should jump on it. She knew that it would be a great chance to attempt to see Latias and see if she was corrupted or better yet, hopefully safe, but on the other side of things, she was overly cautious. She knew that she had been seen a few times, but they didn't seem to think that she was one who had sneak into a few of the churches looking for clues in the past week.
"Yes, that's right. Latias is currently in one of the old museum store houses, helping to prepare it for some other use. Together, Latias and Latios with the Alto Mare City Counsel have been renovating a lot of different buildings. Some of them have been to just clean up the city some, but others are to be used for their purposes. They've just finished preparing a few buildings just to provide some living space to future preachers, priests and priestess to help learn their teachings and spread their word all over Japan, and they'll be taught this word right here in Alto Mare." Daniel smiled.
"In your case, I'm not sure what Latias might ask of you. She merely asked up to come and find people with certain qualities, qualities that our lucarios acting as Aura Guardians will point out to us." Daniel continued.
"And you have come to... ask me to come and Latias. I mean, I've only just gotten here." Coria said slowly.
'Our alpha has felt your aura already. She felt your aura as you approached the island while she meditates and looks for those with special traits like devotion and to seek the truth. When she felt you, she shared your aura with us and now here we are. When our alpha asked us to come here, we knew quickly when we saw your aura in full that you are one who we could approach, that you have potential.' Gale stated, moving back to the other ranger's side.
'Will you come with us to see Latias? I can see it in your aura that you really want to come see Latias, and we are offering to come let you see her.' Hammah asked eagerly, still offering her paw and giving a small shake as in invite to take her paw.
Coria bit her lip for a moment, almost scowling some before nodding after a moment. "Lead... lead the way I guess. I mean yes, yes I'll go see Latias if that's where you're taking me." Coria finally stated.
-x-
The lucarios and their ranger partners lead Coria through the city, heading towards Aria's Rest. The outside had been cleaned up a fair bit, and while the two main room and stair case had been cleared. "Latias is currently up stairs. She's talking with some of the pastors about how to... well do a lot of things." Daniel stated as he walked her into the building, a few other lucarios and other rangers there moving some things.
"Things like?" Coria asked slowly.
"Something about turning Alto Mare back on. There's a lot of ancient technology in this city, I'm not sure what all that means though, but Latias and Latios intend to do something with it." Daniel explained, guiding Coria in and upstairs, opening the gate by the stairs for her. "They are on the upper floor. Please be mindful of the extra rooms though, there are lots of relics from the museum being stored here."
"The museum owns this building?" Coria asked, just trying to get as much information as she could as she followed along, still unsure about things.
"Back in the 1920's, this building was officially abandoned. It was too big for most people, and no one wanted to take it on. Still, it was one of the largest buildings in the city, and still structurally stable, like most of the stone work buildings here in Alto Mare. Rather then building anything new here though, it just sat there while the museum was gaining popularity. Eventually, the city counsel just gave the building to the museum as a lab space to restore artifacts and relics. Eventually the museum was updated and had room for all of the equipment in the museum itself, so this was just left as storage." Daniel explained.
"You're rather knowledgeable about this place." Coria stated as she followed him slowly up the stairs, still not sure about all the security gates at each level that Daniel had to unlock, but following along, seeing more rangers, plenty of priests and clergymen, and plenty of museum staff.
"I grew up here before moving out to the mainland, right on the border of Johto and Kanto. Became a ranger around Mount Silver for ten or so years and early this year, was recommended for Arceus Division. Can't say that opportunity to move back home and help with the Guardian Deities of Alto Mare was something I could pass up so here I am, back home and happy to be doing my job." Daniel smiled, finally moving up the third floor where there was a group of lucarios and Rangers around a table, and someone that looked like a young woman with two horns in her hair in a semi-fancy white suit.
"Excuse me everyone. Latias, I've found someone of interest, The Alpha of the Aura Guardians pointed her out, and Hammah and Gale agree." Daniel stated, Latias quickly turning in her disguised form and moving up.
"Latias?" Coria asked very confused not seeing Latias directly.
'You did?' Latias said, quickly flying up to Coria now, and looking her over some. Gently reaching out, and pulling Coria's head up to get a proper look at her, making sure that it was in fact Coria, not that Latias was going to share this information though. Coria's vaporeon was all the more agitated though when Latias touched Coria, and Coria again had to call it off. 'And the lucarios are sure about her?'
"Who is this?" Coria stated, now very worried before Latias changed back to her proper form. In a bright shift of light and what looked liked dozens of bubbles, Latias returned to her proper form, takign Coria's hand and spinning Coria around some just to show that she was easily real. "L-Latias?"
'Hello!' Latias stated rather loudly, before looking over the others, just in time for the security gate to open up and another person who looked a lot like Latias's human form, but blue and male came up, Latias pulling Coria over. 'We found another one Latios. The lucarios pointed out someone special again.' Latias stated, making sure that her words were clearly heard and understood, Coria looking over at Latios now.
'Let's go upstairs then, so that we can discuss things with her.' Latios stated, the gate by the stairs leading up to the next floor just opening up for them even without anyone there.
Coria was still very unsure about things, but she knew that this wasn't some basic illusion. Reports from the last incident in Alto Mare did state that Latios had some unusual abilities though, and what Latias had done did match the water like transformation that was described in the report.
'Come on, let's go.' Latias stated, leading her up the stairs.
"If we're done here, we'll get back to work on the projects you've suggested." One of the rangers from group that Latias had been with called out, each one starting to pack up and start to get ready to leave while Coria was slowly pulled up the stairs, her eevee easily following along, but her vaporeon raced to try and stay at her side, not happy with out openly touchy people seemed to be with Coria.
"Calm down, please." Coria called out, a bit to everyone as she was still partially tugged up the stairs to the top floor where there were just a few people in large robes, all appearing to be higher ranked clergy members. The room was large and open, two side rooms visible, and some railing overlooking an indoor balcony that looked down over a chunk of the lower floor.
Zai, hidden in an illusion opened the door for them in her robes, Sarah there quickly getting some drinks for them, two bottles of juice, one that was supposedly unopened even, and some glasses.
With Coria upstairs nows, Latias pulled her up to a small table real close to door while Latios took a seat with her. 'Hello. I am Latios. And you would appear to have certain qualities, traits in a person that we are asking the lucarios aiding us to find and bring here so that we can talk to them.' Latios stated as Latias poured them all juice from the first bottle, before opening up the second one and getting some bowls to fill up for Coria's eevee and vaporeon.
"They mentioned devotion, and a desire to seek something."Coria stated, still unsure about this meeting, even as Latios changed back to his proper form, taking his cup and taking a drink.
'Devotion to a cause, and a desire to seek the truth of the world. These are changing times with our choice to return to the a more public interaction with the world.' Latios stated, keeping Coria's attention as Dahlia hidden in her robes gave a strong suggestion to her eevee and vaporeon to take a drink.
Coria was a little busy focusing on Latias and Latios to notice this however as Latias took a seat as well. 'There are lots of things for us to discuss.' Latias stated.
"And... who are these people?" Coria asked, looking around some, over the group trying to figure out who they were.
"We come bearing the word of Arcues to the people of Alto Mare." Sarah said, with a well practiced voice, higher pitched and yet elegant, hiding her real voice very well, offering a small plate of cookies in the shape of Latias and Latios to Coria, but still keeping her hood up and her face covered.
'These are the hand picked carriers of The World Mother's teachings, those with her direct blessing. They have come to Alto Mare to help us become one with the people again. For centuries have still kept a careful eye on the city we live in and helped to build, but we've always done so hidden away.' Latias stated.
'Until recently, when collectively we decided to return to a more public method of teaching interactions.' Latios added, looking her over in a brief moment of silence. 'Can we trust you when you really mean to try and help the world, to learn the actual truth of ways of World Mother?' Latios asked.
Coria was still concerned about things, but it wasn't like she had much choice now that she was here directly being asked about such things. It was common enough knowledge that Thomas and his group were now interacting with Latias and Latios. While she was still concerned about what was going on though, she knew that this might be her only chance to discuss such things quickly and perhaps save Latias and Latios.
"Yes... yes you can. But... can you truly trust everyone who has come before you? Surely you know that this is a great task. I don't presume to know exactly how such things would work, but I do know that there are many who would try to lie, to trick you and others." Coria stated.
'We know well that there are those who would try to cheat and profit off our ways. But there are also some who you might think do such a things, but do not. We are not so easily fooled as some might think. We know for certain who would truly come to aid us.' Latios stated.
'And we know who our true family is, despite what rumors have been forced into the world.' Latias added, only for Coria's vaporeon to give a yawn, Coria looking down, her eevee already curled up and sleeping, her vaporeon quickly circling around it and then curling up with it.
"Whats going on!" Coria snapped quickly standing up.
'We are here to discuss some unwanted truths with you... before you get yourself or others hurt.' Latios stated firmly now. 'We are not here to hurt you, but there are things that you must learn, whether you agree with them or not.'
"You... you're being controlled by the demon! Please, let me save you." Coria started, only for her pokemon to get teleported down into the floor below her, easily seen resting on some pokemon beds, some blankets getting put over them gently.
'He's no demon. He is our brother, and a child of our mother. For generations, you refused to listen to our words, but we must try again.' Latias added, a little annoyed still, but staying put for the moment.
"Look at the damage he has done, you must bel-" Coria started, trying to reason with Latias and Latios, still looking over the others, now heavily concerned about them, but they looked too tall and too short to be Thomas and his group.
'And what of the tens of thousands that others have killed falsely in our name. Those who have hunted our family cause far more damage then they ever did. Our brothers and sisters were peaceful, and you hunt them for generations. Your aura revealed a desire to learn the truth... or was that only a desire to learn false truths that benefit your ego.' Latios asked very directly.
"We need to talk Coria... just talk." Thomas stated, finally pulling his hood back, along with the others.
"So... the demon reveals himself at last... Quite the change, trying to hunt a knight." Coria stated, quickly drawing blade, only for Xent to try and rush her, attempting to disarm her.
"What's up sis?" Xent quickly stated loudly just to draw attention to himself and prove a point, grabbing her arm and struggling to pull the sword free. "You up for a family reunion?"
A quick sucker punch to Xent's face and he stumbled backwards, but dragged the blade out of her hand. Zai dashed into, only for the table to flip up and catch in the face, Sarah trying to help herself, but gave a yell when she suddenly got rammed into Zai, and then both were very roughly kicked down the stairs, the gate closing as well.
Dahlia tried to dominate her mind, but it was no good. Dahlia did however manage to snag her belt ripping that free along with her pokeballs and pokedex, along with part of her outfit revealing another sword that Coria was already drawing to rush Thomas with. Latios slammed her to the side though, but Coria took Thomas with her as her eyes began to glow brightly now, both Thomas and Coria falling over the railing onto the third floor.
Xent jumped down without a thought as Latias gave chase herself. "Hey, put that sword down. All of them. Look I know you've been raised to kill Wonderboy, but we just want to talk!" Xent yelled out as he landed and tried to tackle Coria, but was just tossed backwards by something into a large shelf with all sorts of plants. "What in the..." Xent grumbled.
"Stop with the wonderboy already!" Thomas yelled at him, attempting to grapple Coria, only for Coria to drop the blade, for it to try and slash behind her wildly forcing him to let Coria go. Latias rushed to Thomas's aid and grabbed the blade, throwing it to the side after her body gave a powerful wave of energy, freeing it from Coria's control with safe guard.
Things were quickly getting out of control through as Dahlia tried to jump down, and Coria threw one of the vials of poison towards her blade, but Dahlia caught easily as Coria tried to get her second blade back.
Coria attempted to rush forward seeing no other option. She only had one chance right now as she attempted to poison Thomas as he stood before her. Latias wasn't just going to let it happen though, dashing forward and slammed into Coria as Coria tried to bash Thomas with the first thing that she could grab, a drawer from an office desk. As Latias slammed into Coria though, the drawer and its contents scattered over the room, Coria slipping on some spilled rolls of thread, but more importantly, the blade that Coria had tried to use psychic on that smashed through the poison vial was jerked off course.
A gentle blue glow over it, the blade was clearly under the effects of a psychic attack to be manipulated, suddenly ending up in the ceiling and stuck there for a second, before getting ripped free and to Coria's hand as she recovered. "She's a psychic!" Xent screamed out, having seen enough over the past few years to easily make it that it was Coria's eyes that were glowing a little red and in command of the blade.
Thomas had already drawn his new temporary blade and went to defend himself when Coria tried to strike again, but Latias stayed in the way between, floating between Thomas and Coria, arms out stretched, an angry look on her face. 'NO!' Latias snapped, a surge of power pushing Coria back before she land another blow in an expanding globe of blue light that pushed Coria back some. 'You will not kill another of my brothers. Not again, not in my home, my city!' Latias shouted as Dahlia finally ripped the shutter door open.
Coria knew that she was out numbered now, and ran for the window, throwing her blade forward to smash through a window and jump out even from the elevated room. There was a glow from around Latias though as the light shifted around her, Latias rushing for the window as she made herself look like a girl now as she dove out the window after Coria. 'You don't get to run away this time! Not after attacking my brother!'Latias yelled out.
"Latias, no! Don't chase her!" Thomas yelled out, rushing towards the window, Dahlia and Xent looking down through the ruined window with him.
"Latias! Latias, wait!" Dahlia stated, Xent quickly turning back around and rushing the stairs.
"Let's go!" Xent yelled out, Verna quickly teleporting into the room. "Verna!?" Xent gasped out, Dahlia quickly turning around.
"What? Why are you here?!" Dahlia half demanded, confused and impressed, but also worried.
'We saw everything! Coria, we saw that she's psychic. You need help to try and get her alive.' Verna replied.
It was clear Xent wanted to argue the point and was against it, but there wasn't any time for it. Coria was clearly better off then any of them thought, and her being psychic and what appeared to be a decent one at that now being chased by Latias complicated thing. "Ok fine, keep her suppressed from a distance, but don't get close to her! If that poison can kill wonder boy, there's no telling what it will do to you." He said quickly turning back around and gave a running leap out the window. Unlike Coria, he had to land in the water of the canal rather then risk hurting himself with a rough landing from a three story window. His sister may be psychic, but he doubted she could contend with Verna while dealing with the rest if them, but only if they could catch her.
"Xent! Damnit..." Dahlia yelled out grabbing him as he jumped out the window. She threw him to the ground, but kept him from hurting herself as she followed, Thomas going to give chase himself, accompanied by Rebecca and Latios.
"No more crazy stunts for the sake of crazy stunts!" Dahlia snapped at him as Xent ran off quickly following the commotion.
"Zai, hurry up! Outside!" Xent screamed and very quickly after, Zai came running out of the front of the building, dashing to keep up with Xent now.
[Oh that bitch! I'm going to smash her head in.] Zai grumbled as she ran forward.
"Do not kill Xent's sister!" Dahlia stated, Latios grabbing Thomas and Rebecca and dashing ahead of the lot of them to a pier with some of the Tour de Alto Mare racing gear.
"Focus on me, Radara is tracking Latias and Coria, Teleport over when you can." Thomas called out as got on the racing board, and Latios grabbed the reigns before taking off fast.
-x-
Latios made no effort to hold back with Latias seeming to be enraged and they quickly found a disturbance down the passage. Thomas had to grab and really hold onto Rebecca as Latios blasted through the canals. Already word was getting around that something was going on, and the lucarios and rangers were doing what they could to try and limit others from getting involved while the Alto Mare police were attempting to help out however they could.
The biggest scene though was a in a large warehouse and workshop. There was a large collection of people trying to figure out what was going and many immediately looked to Latios, asking about what was going on. Thomas ran in with Rebecca, and Rebecca quickly pointed out Coria trying to get some racing gear of her own. She had clearly heard that Latios was there, which meant Thomas was there and rushed to get an ambush off on him. Instead, Rebecca easily pointed her out and Thomas knew exactly where she was hiding because of it.
Thomas, drew the short sword that he Latias and Latios had loaned him, and as he rounded the corner, already blocked the blow that was meant for him. There was a loud clang of metal hitting the crystal, but Thomas had to duck under a blow from a second sword that Coria was using her mind to control. Rebecca didn't have room to get past Thomas easily in the small space, and tried running around the shelves, only for Coria to slam a set of shelves in her way trying to use the tight space to her advantage.
'Got you!' Latias yelled out, in her human form having run up behind Coria and smashed a plate over her head, the glass shattering as Coria cried out in pain, going to try and counter, but Thoams used his own psychic to try and rip the floating blade from Coria's control so she couldn't lash out.
Still, Coria went to go and kick the girl who had assaulted her in the legs, only for nothing to happen, Coria's boot going right through Latias's false leg. "Latias, leave this to me!" Thomas yelled out, trying to get Latias to back off as Latios blasted through a window and into the building, tackling Coria hard into a wall.
Coria was barely able to defend herself as Latios smashed into her. Coria threw Latios off, but Latias had changed back to catch Latios. "Always corrupting the legendary pokemon! These tricks are getting old. When you're gone, the world wi-" Coria grumbled, only for Latias to threw a serving tray at her, and then another plate.
Coria tried to run off knowing that she couldn't just kill Latias, she was here to save them after all. She rushed through the warehouse, Thomas giving chase, only for Latios to tackle him now when Coria's blade came rushing to her side as she slammed a door closed, the blade smashing through the little window at the top that it had. "Thanks..." Thomas grumbled, annoyed heavily, but mostly with himself for not being that observant to have seen it as Rebecca rushed to him.
'Pay more attention. She's more far more dangerous then we thought.' Latios stated, only for the door to slam back open as Latias rushed forward. 'Latias! Wait up! What's gotten into you!'
"What happened in the past thirty years to make her so... aggressive to protect us?" Thomas stated picking himself up as Rebecca tried to run after them both. "Hey, no. You stay at my side Rebecca, I need your help at my side, don't give chase!" Thomas shouted, Rebecca at least stopping.
'She's been doing everything she can ever since we decided to step back into the world to try and protect everyone. I think the fear of being taken again, of knowing that the evil beast can possess us... its bringing back memories of how defenseless she felt back then. Its driving her to do anything she can to save her family in this life of hers.' Latios stated slowly.
Thomas could only nod, before rushing up to join Rebecca. "Let's go and try to save her before she gets herself really hurt."
'Which way did they go?' Latios quickly asked as he changed back into looking like a human again, Rebecca pointing down the alley way.
'She's real easy to follow right now. Latias has a lot of emotions going through her mind right now. Both of them do.' Rebecca stated, her four dread locks slowly rising up behind her a little as she used her aura to try and track Coria and Latias.
Rushing down the walkway to give chase, Rebecca lead them along but in front of them they could only hear a large commotion taking place. Coria had tried to dive into a large dinner with Latias right after and a number of people rushing out of the kitchen.
An Alto Mare police officer rushed up into the building, but was quickly tossed right back out. Thomas rushed up and helped the officer up to her feet. "What's going on h-? Wait, you're that Thomas kid, Latios and Latias's guest? What in the name of Arceus is going on here?" The officer tried to demand easily recognizing Thomas as Latios helped her up.
"Trouble. Big trouble. We need help to keep people from getting hurt." Thomas quickly stated. "Can you call for help while we try and stop this? We have no idea how many people she'll try to hurt to get away."
"Latios, help the police to try and stop this from getting worse. Rebecca, try and cut her off, and don't take her directly!" Thomas stated.
A loud crash of another plate hitting a wall or something, quickly followed by a few more got everyone's attention though and Thomas and Latios rushed into the kitchen where Coria was being cornered by Latias around a large table. A dozen plates floated around her, before another pair were launched at Coria when she tried to duck to the side. They missed and hit the wall again, Coria trying to rush out the door she had come in, only to notice Thomas and going to try to stab him again.
Xent rushed in past Thomas finally caught up with Zai following at his side. "You need to stop Coria!" Xent yelled getting in Coria's way as Zai jumped up ready to slash her face open. Coria slashed at Zai, only for it to be an illusion, and Coria just barely turned in time to try and block Zai's glowing claws.
"Don't kill her Zai! Just keep her busy while Verna and Rebecca do their part!" Xent called out going in with his crowbars, trying to target her legs. In the small space of the kitchen though, another plate flew in and Coria couldn't block it getting beaned again but still blocking Xent's strike.
"Stop saving this thing Xent! Call off your zoroark or I'll be forced to kill it before killing the demon!" Coria snapped.
'You will not hurt my brother!' Latias screamed now, Coria slashing at Zai to throw her off some, before slamming Zai against the wall with a prep table. Latias though easily returned the favor, now throwing pots and pans, one catching Coria in the arm making her yell out.
"Careful! Careful!" Xent screamed out almost getting hit himself, Thomas rushing to Latias's side, Latios already trying to calm her down.
"Latias, slow down!" Thomas tried to calm her down even in the fight, Coria taking the chance to turn and try to deck Xent with a fist while her sword was thrown at Thomas.
Latias easily caught the blade for Thomas though, none of them noticing the fire on the stove top. Xent was forced to take the hit from the punch, and then grumbled even more when his crow bars were ripped form his hands by Coria's psychic. "I will hurt you Xent!" Coria snapped at him, only for Xent to stomp on her foot to try and disorient her foot.
It didn't work too well though, Coria powering through it and slamming the hilt of her other blade into Xent's hip, before grabbing his head and trying to smash his head into a hanging pan. Xent caught on and avoided it, only to grab one of the pans and try to hit Coria in the leg again to disable her, but Coria was prepared.
"Only if I don't hurt you first! You need to calm down!" Xent yelled at her.
She once again ripped the pan from his hand, but not before he grabbed her with his free hand and jumped forward, kneeing her hard in the gut. She quickly countered even as she was struck though, a heavy handed slap knocking Xent back some.
As Xent recoiled and tried to counter, Zai freed herself and was only getting mad. She threw a swift attack at her knowing that it should always be able to hit, only to snarl when Coria use the pan that she taken from Xent to catch all but one, crying out as it struck her in the shoulder.
"Zai, ca-"Xent started to call out, before the stove exploded. A mass of white powder, smoke, and slush washed over the room with a massive explosive popping sound. Everyone yelled out except Coria, and in the mess, Zai gave a second louder scream of pain when the pan still full of now fading swift stars hit her in the face.
There was then the sound of someone pounding on a door, but it didn't seemed to before there was sound of splintering wood and a lucario crying out. Thomas rushed through as best he could, smacking into a few tables before seeing the fallen door and pulling it off Rebecca who was holding her head as she grumbled. 'I'm understanding why Xent keeps calling psychic cheaters...' Rebecca grumbled as Thomas helped her up, only to hear another loud smash of a broken plate.
'What happened in there?' Rebecca quickly asked as Thomas took off with her again.
"I don't know, its almost like a fire extinguisher exploded, but without the metal shrapnel." Thomas stated as Xent rushed up after him, his brow bleeding. "What happened to you?"
"Latias mistook me for Coria..." Xent grumbled. "And that was a fire ball. Its an emergency semi-explosive ball shaped container fire extinguisher designed to caused minimal physical damage but fill a large space with whichever type of foam or whatnot its filled with..." Xent stated, just grabbing a towel off the counter and wiped himself down before handing it to Zai.
"Which way did she go?" Thomas quickly Rebecca and once more Rebecca pointed them in Coria's direction, the group giving chase.
Already a commotion was spreading through the city, but Rangers and the police were now trying to help them even in the confusion. As they were running through the town, they were gaining on Coria as she tried to blend into the crowds now. Coria tried to hide away in a workshop. As they ran down the street though, and were about to rush into the workshop that Coria had sneak into, another knight attacked. The knight tried to attack Thomas as he got close, but it was clear that this knight was easily outclassed.
Thomas blocked the blow and Xent jumped up and tackled the knight hard, knocking off his hat, only to grumbled. "Not Coria... but still a knight." Xent grumbled and with Zai's help, pulled the man up, throwing off his tiara and slamming him into a wall while an officer ran up.
"Arrest this one and keep him locked up tight, don't take chances with him." Thomas quickly stated, Rebecca pointing into the workshop.
Thomas and Rebecca rushed into the workshop, looking around slowly, while Xent helped the officer keep the other knight pinned and hand cuffed, before the knight started to struggle again, getting a good kick into Xent's shin and worse, Zai's face making her extremely angry and Xent almost has to restrain her.
"You'll burn demon! In the na-" The knight tried to yell out, before Xent shoved a glove into his mouth.
"Enough outta you." Xent stated helping to restrain the knight until a few more officers came running up.
Inside the workshop though, Coria was getting annoyed, and left to wonder how she was being so easily tracked. Still, it looked like she had a chance, and once Thomas and Rebecca were all the way into shop, she made some noise, throwing some tools at them to get their attention fully before rushing into the back. Thomas and Rebecca quickly gave chase, but as soon as they were in the back, Coria slammed the door shut and even piled a desk against it to try and isolate them.
Rebecca quickly pointed Coria out before she attack them though, rushing forward and trying to hit Coria with a force palm to attempt to paralyze her, only holding back a bit. Her attack hit wooden board that Coria tried to block and smashed through it, but still gave Coria just enough of a chance to step out of the way, going in with both blades.
Thomas came to Rebecca's aid though, the surge of a thundershock bursting from his hand making Coria back off though. "Coria, stop it! I'm to talk." Thomas tried again since he had nothing to lose and they were mostly alone.
"Save your lies demon!" Coria snapped, moving behind a gondola held up by chains, before attempting to slam that Rebecca, Thomas rushing to her aid again, and holding it back. In stopping the one gondola however, Thomas left himself wide open to an attack from the side and Rebecca just barely managed to smash the flying wooden post with an aura bone.
Coria moved into the otherside of the workshop though and Thomas and Rebecca gave chase. Coria was slowly getting worn out but she wasn't going to defeated so easily. Coria slammed Thomas hard with another psychic attack, trying anything she could to slow him down. She managed to at least knock Thomas back some, and before giving another swing with both swords. While Thomas blocked the blow, he was forced backwards a bit more into the large doorway with the toppled filing cabinet. Thomas nearly tripped over it, before Coria slammed the large sliding door on him.
Thomas gave a large yell as it caught his arm and bounced back a bit. It was painful blow and Thomas dropped the loaned sword he had but it didn't give Coria the opening she wanted. Rebecca rushed forward tackling Coria before she could follow up in an effort to restrain her. Coria was forced to turn her attention to Rebecca now, and Thomas took the chance to strike Coria in the gut with a controlled thunder punch to try and weaken her. It did make Coria drop her swords, but Coria managed to break free of Rebecca's grab, Rebecca crying out when she was tossed backwards by Coria.
Coria's eyes began to glow brightly again and Rebecca was lifted up and thrown out of the room. Thomas had to turn and use his own psychic to catch Rebecca from being thrown into a work bench full of various tools. Already she could feel some liquid at her nose, she was pushing herself too hard to quickly. Still, she had a chance now.
She lifted the filing cabinet at his feet right up into his face and then slammed it into his arm against the door frame. There was a thud as Rebecca fell in the other room, Thomas disoriented, before Coria rushed the door and threw everything she could muster into slamming it close.
It smashed against the filing cabinet making Thomas scream out in pain as his arm was nearly forced into the door frame and held in place by the filing cabinet, and then Coria lodged a crowbar into the wall right beside the door trying to make it impossible to open.
Thomas tried to jerk his way free, but only threatened to tear his own arm off, and was forced to stop when Coria attempted to rush him again. While he managed to hold one blade back, something else grabbed the other and kept Coria from making a fatal blow.
"You have got to stop this!" Xent snapped rushing up with a pair of batons, Coria twisting around to try and slash Xent to keep him back and Xent did have to stay back when Coria saw his gardevoir again. There was a pounding on the door and Rebecca was trying to get back in, Thomas reaching over to and pull her up over the filing cabinet back into the room.
"Xent you fool, you have no idea what this thing is!" Coria yelled out, going into a fight with him, being aggressive with one blade and taking a chance to try and disable Xent now while Thomas was trying to help Rebecca fit through a space just slightly too small.
Xent wasn't having any of it though, intentionally playing slow and defensive. He just needed a chance for Thomas to get free and then they could deal with Coria as he dove back, throwing a plate at Coria.
"Stop throwing things!" Coria grumbled loudly going to try and rush Thomas again, only get rushed by Xent and Verna. She counted on it though, and when Xent blocked the attack for Thomas while Verna tried to restrain her, Coria quickly changed targets again. Coria turned and pushed everything she had right through Verna's attempt at restraining her.
Xent dived forward at the last second, a baton in both hands that just barely blocked one of the blades that was intended for Verna, before Coria kneed him in the gut, and slammed the hilt of her other blade into his face. It became clear only then that the blade that Coria was using to try and strike Verna with wasn't the poisoned one, it was all just to get Xent to move. "Damnit Xent, now is not the time!" Coria snapped, Verna now focused on helping Xent, and giving Coria another opening for Thomas while he his arm was still stuck under the filing cabinets which were stuck under a door.
Seeing Coria coming again, Thomas stopped trying to not break things and smashed part of the door with a strong electrical jolt before throwing the cabinet off, even using it to try and stop Coria. Coria just barely side stepped the attempted attack, and was already around it before Thomas could keep up and blocking both blades with his psychic, Coria let both blade go to smash her hands on either side of Thomas's head.
Disoriented from the rapid change in tactics, Coria already picked up the poisoned blade again and made one last attack, only once more Xent was in the way. This time though, he wasn't fast enough to block it, a sick crunch of some bone and sliced flesh sounded with a pained scream.
"Bastard!" Coria screamed out, kicking Xent back to try and free the sword from his arm, but it was stuck in the bone of arm, and jerked from her hand. "I'll kill you for trying to turn my bro-" Coria started, only for Verna to go mad. A large gondola had been thrown right at Coria who just barely had time to duck under it and roll out of the building right before the shutters closed and Coria just took off.
Verna tried to smash through them with another gondola, but it the door held against the first and even the second attempt of Verna trying to break through it. Dahlia ran into the room and seeing Xent screaming there on the ground, grabbed and turned Verna to face him. "Help him first! Verna, Help Xent! Killing her won't save him, we need help here and now." Dahlia shouted trying to break her out of her rage, and it seemed to work as Verna rushed towards him.
"They saw everything! Suicune thinks she help if we get him back to the garden fast enough!" Thomas yelled out, passing on the message from Radara.
Rebecca just watched as Coria's aura rushed down the street, quickly getting lost as Rebecca whined and turned back toward the group to help Xent. "Verna, bring him to me now." Dahlia called out, standing in a small open spot where Verna quickly Xent over, and then Dahlia took her hand and Thomas's while Thomas and Verna both lifted up Xent knowing that Dahlia was going to teleport them again, Rebecca quickly getting close right before the world shifted.
~xXx~
The group teleported right into the middle of the secret gardens and everyone minus Latias and Latios were there. Suicune quickly pulled Xent into the water with Dahlia's and Verna's help, Thomas rushing up to Andrew. "Its a gorgon root based toxin, based first around paralysis and a slow death in repeated amounts. I know medical wasn't your field of focus, but we need any kind of help we can get." Thomas explained as Andrew rushed up to look at the wound, quickly pulling his belt off, Suicune finally pulling the blade free as the water glowed brightly. Thomas though moved to the middle pedestal room and tapping it several times finally brought up what looked like a hologram screen. "Come on come on, is there anything in this mess about poisons..." He grumbled.
Mewtwo merely stood over the pond though, looking over him. 'His heart is slowing... I can keep it beating, but not if that poison is still within him. If you have a proper installation for medical needs, I suggest we use it fast, or this would be better to act within a hospital where we will have access to proper equipment.' Mewtwo stated rather plainly.
'Shut up and help him!' Verna cried out, only for Dahlia to pull her up right in front of her.
"Yelling will not help right now. He is offering to help, take it slow, think, listen, do as we're told." Dahlia stated firmly, trying to calm Verna right now as Palkia opened a portal behind them, before taking off somewhere.
