Chapter 2: A New Day
The next day, Danielle was the first person to awaken from sleep. Mostly from the morning sun peeping through the window blinds onto her face. "Agh," muttered Danielle, as she covered her face with her blanket, "Why does it have to be morning already? I was sleeping so well for once."
Immediately after speaking, Danielle would realize something felt off. The blankets that she was currently using felt too nice compared to the ones she had been using the night before. These blankets felt soft and comfy, whilst the blankets before were a little smelly and had holes in them. "What the," said Danielle, as she set up in bed flinging the blankets forward off her, "What the heck? Where did these blankets come from? Did Dann..."
As Danielle was speaking, she would interrupt herself when she realized the blankets weren't the only thing that was off. The room she was in was also completely different. Nothing like the mess of the room she had been in the day before.
"What? Where am I," said Danielle, a bit unnerved, "What happened yesterday?" The girl then tried to think about what happened yesterday. Unfortunately, she could not remember everything that had happened that day. Fortunately, though, she did remember last night. "If I'm remembering correctly," Danielle said, "I was... Sleeping somewhere that wasn't the nicest... Danny showed up with some strange item on his arm... The reality gauntlet, I think he called... Said it could make me a full human... He used it on me... And... I fainted immediately after it did its job... But... Where's Danny? Did he bring me to... Whenever this is? Wait... This room..."
Danielle would then take a closer look around her. Glancing around the room, she could see the walls were the same shade of color Danny's room had been. Not only that, but multiple pictures either dealing with space itself or space shuttles were on the wall. Danielle could even recognize some of them, but she attributed that to her being Danny's clone. There were also a few shelves on the wall with models of space shuttles on them. There were more models on them though then Danny had on his shelves. Though... Some of them did look like ones Danny had built.
The floor of the room itself was just hardwood floor with the bed Danielle was currently on being right next to the window. The design on the blankets that she had been worried over before was a simple blue plaid design.
Looking to her right, Danielle found a little nightstand, but she also saw another bed. Danielle blinked a little in confusion at this. Mostly due to the fact, that the bed was also occupied and the person who was sleeping in it had yet to awaken even with her speaking a little louder than necessary. She couldn't tell who was in the bed either, as the blankets covered the person up completely.
On the wall opposite the beds sat two desks and chairs tucked under them. There were also two computers on each desk. One was a simple white. The other black. There were also some pictures on the desk as well, but Danielle couldn't make out any details on them from her current position.
There was also a dresser by one of the two doors in the room. As for where the doors led, Danielle wasn't entirely sure. But in the back of her mind, she thought one door led to a closet and the other the hallway.
Deciding to look out the window that was right by her bed to see if she could figure out where she was, Danielle would gasp a little when she did. Outside the window was Amity Park, Danny and his family's hometown. So, was this Danny's house? And by extension was this Danny's room.
Looking back over to the other bed, Danielle thought, "So... Is that Danny? I guess... I do remember him being a heavy sleeper..."
"Danny," said Danielle, a little louder than normal so she could hopefully wake Danny up, "Danny? What happened? How did we get back to your house? And... Why do you have two desks and beds?"
Unfortunately, Danny did not awaken. The only thing Danielle's speaking did was cause the boy to move a little in his sleep. Danielle frowned. She REALLY needed an explanation about what was going on.
Sighing, Danielle moved her legs out of bed and slowly stood up. Strangely, she found herself wobble a little as she stood, which perplexed Danielle for a moment until she looked down at herself and gasped. The room changing hadn't been the only thing that changed. Danielle, herself, had gained a few inches. She was maybe around the same height as Danny, if not a few inches taller. The clothes she currently wore were also new to her. They were obviously pajamas. That Danielle could figure out. But where did she get them. She did have to admit the red pajama pants and blue short sleeve shirt were definitely good on her.
Regardless, Danielle would take a few steps towards Danny in his bed. Wobbling a little as she did. Luckily, it wasn't far, and Danielle seemed to regain her sense of balance quickly as well. Almost as if... Her body was already used to this height. Like she always had been this tall or something.
Arriving at Danny's bedside, she sighed again before moving the blankets off Danny's head. Fortunately, Danielle had been right. The other bed did indeed have Danny on it. Shaking the boy, Danielle said, a little loud, "Danny wake up! Cousin... What's... What's going on?"
"Wha," said Danny, as he groggily opened his eyes, "Danielle... What's up?"
Danielle rolled her eyes, and said, "What's up! I don't know. How about? Why have I changed height and why has your room changed for starters?"
Danny would blink a moment at Danielle as her words registered in his still sleep addled brain. "Changed height? Room changes," asked Danny, as he looked around the room, "What are you talking about, Danie... Wait! What the hell? Why are we even in my room? I don't recall me bringing us back here. And... Why do I see doubles of some things? Danielle, what's going on?"
"That's what I'd like to know cous," said Danielle, as she put her hands on her hips, "Do you still have that gauntlet thing? Maybe that did something and can be used explain what happened to not just your room but to my sudden growth spurt too."
"The gauntlet," said Danny, as he moved his legs off the bed, "It should be on my... Wait! Where is it? It should still be on my arm! I didn't take it off or anything."
"It must be somewhere in the room," said Danielle, with a sigh, "Come on. Help me look." Danny nodded his head in agreement and as soon as he got off the bed, both he and Danielle would start to look through room for the reality gauntlet. But it wouldn't take long for something else to make them question what the hell was going on.
"Danny," said Danielle, as she stood over by the desks, "When... And how were these pictures taken?" Looking at Danielle questioningly, Danny walked over to see what she was talking about. When he saw the pictures, he gasped.
They were all different pictures of him and Danielle at different ages. One of them was a picture of them as toddlers playing in a sandbox at the local park. Another was of Danny and Danielle learning how to ride bikes with help from Jack. And another was the two of them slightly younger than they are now hanging out with Sam and Tucker near the school. In fact, all of the pictures were of Danny and Danielle doing something together, as well as smiling happily.
"I... I don't know," said Danny, confused, "Did... Did the reality gauntlet do this? I only had it make you human though... Or that should have been all it did. What... What went wrong?"
"And where did the gauntlet go," Danielle added, before looking over at the models that were on the shelves," "Danny? Do you think... I built some of those?"
"Huh," said Danny, before realizing that Danielle was looking at the models, "Maybe? I don't remember building all those myself."
"Hmm," said Danielle, as she walked over to the dresser and started opening drawers, "This... This is strange... Danny? Do you think maybe... Maybe the gauntlet made me your younger sister or something? Because I don't think some of these clothes are yours."
"Why do you say that," said Danny, who was still looking at the pictures.
"Because I don't think you wear these," said Danielle, as she held up a pair of panties. This made Danny blush a little when he looked at it. He definitely did not wear those.
"I... I guess it's possible," said Danny, as he walked over to the closet and opened the door, "It looks like the same thing that happened to the dresser happened to the closet as well... I definitely see girl clothes in here... And their definitely not Mom's or Jazz's."
"What is going on," said Danielle, as she closed the dresser and sat at the foot of Danny's bed, "All we did was... Make me fully human... Wait... Why did we have to do that again?"
"Hmm," said Danny, as he closed the closet door and looked at Danielle, "Why did we have to make you fully human? Don't you remember Dani? It was... Wait... Why did we have to do that?"
"Was it because I was supposed to be your clone," said Danielle, as she thought about it hard, "But... If that was the case... Why was I a clone? Why am I having a hard time remembering about anything from yesterday?"
"I don't know Dani," said Danny, as he rubbed his head sheepishly, "I'm... I'm having a hard time thinking about it too..."
Suddenly before either Danny or Danielle could speak or think about things further, Danny's dad could be heard yelling from the bottom of the stairs. "DANNY," shouted Jack, "Are you up yet? Your friends are here! Plus, I want to show you something!"
"One second, Dad," shouted Danny, "I'll be down in a second!"
"Alright then," shouted Jack, "When your ready head down to the lab! Oh! Make sure you wake up twin sister Danielle! She will probably want to see what I made as well!"
As soon as Danny and Danielle heard Jack say, "twin sister," they would both open their eyes in shock and not hear anything else their dad had said. "Twins," shouted both Danny and Danielle together, as they turned to face one another.
Author's Note: Hey readers! Hope you enjoyed the first two chapters of the rewrite! Like I said in Chapter 1, these two chapters are a little similar to the original fanfiction. But there are some subtle changes I feel and more detail as well. I WANTED to release the third chapter today with these two, but I still have to reread it all the way through to catch mistakes and such. I can say that it will be out tomorrow though. So, look forward to it. And that chapter definitely changes a little from the original work. It even has an OC I made that I hope works well with Danny Phantom as a whole.
Anyway, see you all tomorrow then.
