Author's Note: Well, sorry for the... Almost three-month delay. Not going to lie to you this chapter was hard for me to figure out how to start. But I'm happy with what I came up with so, I hope you all enjoy reading it. See at the end of the chapter.

Chapter 8: How to Date Your Dragon Part 1

The first half of the next day would feel like it sped by according to Danielle. Before she knew it, it was lunchtime, and she was saying goodbye to her brother, Sam, and Tucker at the front entrance of the school. She had agreed the previous school day to spend some time with Zack at the student parking lot and learn some things about skating. Maybe even try it, if there was time.

Separating from her friends and brother, she would make her way through the school yard to the aforementioned parking lot. On the way, she would pass by a number of students who were discussing things about the upcoming school dance.

"Ugh," thought Dani, "The school dance… Why couldn't it be a gaming convention or something the school was hosting… Oh well. Not like I have to attend… Though knowing Danny and Tucker… They'll probably want to attend and not find anyone to take, so they'll ask me and Sam to go with them…"

Shaking the thought out of her mind when the parking lot came into view, her eyes would scan over the asphalt as she looked for her silver-haired friend. After a moment, her eyes would catch sight of Zack doing a few tricks like kick and heel flips, as well as jumping off some small ramps some other skaters had brought and set up in the parking lot.

"Wow," said Dani, as she whistled, impressed by the spectacle or rather what she felt was a spectacle, "I knew Zack was good from that one time I went to the skatepark with him, but man… He's good."

Hearing the whistle, Zack would stop his board and turn in Dani's direction. As soon as his eyes landed on the raven-haired girl, he smiled. "You made it, Dani," shouted Zack, as he kicked his board up into his hand and made his way over to the raven-haired girl, "Was starting to wonder if you would show up at all."

"Lunch just started though," said Dani, slightly confused.

"I know," said Zack, as he patted the girl's shoulder, "I was kidding."

"Oh," said Dani, as she rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. After a moment, Zack would ask, "So you hear about the school dance happening tomorrow?"

"Yeah," said Dani, as she crossed her arms, "I'd have to live under a rock to not have heard about it."

"True, but did you hear what the school apparently was able to scrounge together for it," said Zack, with a hand on his hip. When Danielle nodded her head no, he continued, "Heard they got a student band to perform for it. Something about helping with school spirit."

"Really," said Dani, a little surprised, "Who are the saps they got to play with for it? Though... That does sound like a Mr. Lancer thing. I remember this one picture my sister showed me of Mr. Lancer doing a whole cheer routine for Spirit Day one year. He even had pom-poms."

"Really," said Zack, with a laugh, "Remind me to ask your sister to show me that picture. Sounds like a laugh."

"Sure thing," said Dani, "So… Who's playing?"

"Uhh.. Not sure exactly," said Zack, as he scratched his cheek, "Just… Some rumors I've heard flying around is all."

"Okay," said Dani, as an awkward pause grew between the two for a second.

"You plan on going," asked Zack, as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"I don't plan on it," said Dani, with a shrug of her shoulders, "But knowing Danny and Tucker, I'll be roped into joining them at the thing. How about you?"

"Yeah, I'll be there," said Zack, "Mom's… Kind of forcing me to go. Said something about it… Helping make new friends or something. Really need to have you and the others over at my house to show Mom that I've made some new friends already honestly."

Slightly tapping Zack's shoulder with a fist, Dani smiled, and said, "Whenever you want to hang out-" But Dani never got to finish her sentence as a round of laughter filled the parking lot and school yard around the duo. "What's so funny," said Dani, as she and Zack looked around for the source of the commotion which wouldn't take them long.

Eyes widening in shock, the duo would spy Danny talking to the popular girl, Paulina, except he wasn't exactly talking. Instead, he was standing around in shock with his pants down to his ankles. "Oh shoot," thought Dani, as she realized what probably happened, "His powers activated while... Wait, was he asking Paulina to the dance? Huh… Didn't think you had it in you, bro."

Unfortunately, Dani and Zack were too far away to make out what Paulina was saying to the poor boy, but Danielle had a feeling she wouldn't like it if she could hear it. Fortunately, it looked like Sam had her brothers back. After a brief exchange, Sam would grab Danny by the arm and pull him away from the girl.

"I should probably make sure everything is alright," said Dani, as she turned to Zack and clapped her hands together in a form of apology.

"Yeah, I understand," said Zack, with a nod, "Go make sure your brother is alright. We can have our skate lesson another time." Giving Zack a smile, Danielle would run off after her brother, Sam, and Tucker who went back into the school.

Hearing the bell ring, Danielle and Sam would say bye to Danny and Tucker and start to head towards their next class. It was one of the few classes the two girls didn't share with the boys. Home Ec. Something that Dani, and Sam, thought was an antiquated practice by the school system still. Apparently, there were talks of that changing for the years after this one, but that wouldn't help the girls now. Deciding to continue the conversation about what happened at lunch, Dani asked, glancing over at her goth friend, "So Danny really said that before you pushed him over to Paulina, huh?"

"Yeah," said Sam, the sound of being slightly miffed about that comment still in her throat, "Though maybe it's a good thing he's not like that with me. I think he'd probably bust a vein if he kept having his pants fall down."

"I was honestly hoping that wouldn't happen to him," said Dani, with a sigh, "I know we're twins but we don't have to share EVERY sort of moment together."

"Wait... When did that happen to you," asked Sam, as she raised a concerned eye at the ghost girl.

"Huh...," said Dani, before sighing in embarrassment, "Happened to me the night I went to the skate park with Zack…"

"Really," said Sam, as a thought entered her head and her lips curled into a smile, "Sounds like someone has a thing for a certain skater boy."

"I- I do not," said Dani, as she folded her arms, "I-I don't know the specifics of why I got nervous, but I think it was because I was unsure about trying out skating is all… I-I didn't want to face-plant or something."

"Sure," said Sam, with a chuckle before turning her thoughts back on Danny, "You think Danny will be alright after what happened?"

"Physically, yeah," said Dani, with a shrug, "Mentally… Might take some time for him to forget about it though."

"Probably," said Sam, as the two girls arrived in front of the Home Ec Room right as the second bell began to ring.

The walk home was interesting for the twins. Apparently after Danielle and Sam separated from Danny and Tucker, Danny somehow managed to get a date with Paulina but he also managed to get a notice for a parent-teacher conference with Mr. Lancer. But that wasn't the most interesting thing to Dani at the moment.

"Did you really take control of Dash's body," said Dani, her attention fully on her brother.

"Yeah," said Danny, as he rubbed his head, "I could control everything about Dash. Hell, I could say anything, and it would sound like it came from Dash himself. No one was the wiser."

"Cool," said Dani, as she brought a hand to her chin in thought, "Think I'll have to try if I can do it sometime…"

"It was pretty cool," said Danny, as he tried to then turn the topic to something else, "Wish I didn't get a parent-teacher conference from Mr. Lancer though."

"Yeah... Hope Dad isn't in a bad mood," said Dani, as the twins rounded the final corner towards their house, "Otherwise, I don't even know what Dad will do."

Deciding she wanted to know what would happen, Danielle would join Danny in walking down into the basement lab. As they descended the final step, Danny asked, "Catch anything, Dad?"

"Son, I couldn't even catch a cold," said Jack, as the twins approached, "I've been sitting here all day without a single bite."

The twins would look at one another for second, before Danny looked down at the parent-teacher notice, and began to say, "Uhh-"

"I'm so frustrated," Jack continued, as he began reeling in the Fenton Fisher to recast, "I want to take out my rage on the first person who gives me bad news." As Jack recast the line, he would add, "Anyway you wanted to tell me something?"

"Well sort of," said Danny, very nervous, "Mr. Lancer-"

"Mr. Lancer what," said Jack, as he turned to face his son and daughter, "Is this bad news?"

"Oh oh," thought Danielle, as she eyed her brother and saw a mischievous look, "This can't be good."

"Mr Lancer," began Danny, before he smirked and went intangible while his father wasn't looking.

"Wants to have a word with us," said Danny through Jack as he possessed his father.

This caused Danielle to smack her forehead in disbelief. She didn't think her brother would use their powers on their own parents. She hoped this wouldn't backfire on him.

The next day, the twins would be at the mall food court eating with their friends. Or rather Danny, Tucker, and Sam were busy eating while Danielle was too busy glaring at her brother for the mess he had made with their father.

"Mmmm," said Tucker as a girl walked by him.

"No," said the girl, as she walked by Sam, who had a question for Danny.

"So, your dad is going to chaperone the dance," asked Sam.

"Yep, except he doesn't know he's going to chaperone the dance," Danielle replied for her brother, anger in her voice, "Because someone was overshadowing him and made him say yes."

"Look, I'm sorry Danielle," said Danny, "I didn't mea-"

"Don't Danny," said Danielle, as she raised a hand to stop her brother, "I didn't want to go to this stupid dance, but now that you've made Dad go. I'm going to have to end up going to make sure we don't get into an even bigger mess. Thanks a lot…" She would add, under her breath, "I really wanted to spend the night playing Morrowind…"

"Let me get this straight," said Tucker, who stopped himself from taking a bite of his food, "You can just walk into people and take over their bodies from the inside?"

"Yeah, pretty much," replied Danny.

Hearing this, Danielle would notice Tucker looking at a girl at another table and immediately knew where their techno-geek friend was going with his line of thinking. "Hey Danny," said Tucker, "If you could control a girl for just about two minutes…"

"Forget it," said Danny, as he quickly glanced over to where Tucker was, "You can get your own date for the dance. Like I did.

"Does he have to take off his pants and act like a dweeb," asked Sam, as she high fived Danielle under the table for her quip, "Or will either one do?"

"Hey," shouted Danny, as he stopped taking a bite from his burger.

"That's okay, Danny," said Tucker, as he began to look over to Danielle, "I have another optio-"

"No," Danielle said, flatly.

"You don't even know what I was going to say," said Tucker, as he looked pleadingly at Danielle to reconsider.

"You were going to ask if I could overshadow a girl," said Danielle, taking a wild stab at what Tucker was going to ask, "And say 'yes' when you ask the girl out. Go ahead tell me I'm wrong Tuck."

Tucker would let out an awkward chuckle, whilst looking abashed.

"Honestly guys," said Sam, deciding to change the topic somewhat, "I'm glad I'm not going to the stupid dance. Saves me the embarrassment of wearing the lame dress my parents bought me." As she finished speaking, Sam would let out a nervous chuckle.

"Again, you're lucky," said Danielle, as she finally took a bite of her burger, "Still wish I didn't need to go."

"So, no one's asked you, huh," asked Tucker, at the same time as the ghost girl.

"Maybe if I was as pretty as Paulina," said Sam, with a bit of venom in her voice.

"Why are you so down on her," asked Danny, "So she's pretty. It's not a crime."

Danielle would look at her brother incredulously. Did he not know? Paulina had bullied her and Sam since they were kids. Was he so infatuated with the girl that he didn't notice how she tormented Sam and herself? "Looks are deceiving, Danny," said Sam, as screams filled the air around the group.

Looking around themselves, the group would realize the throngs of customers around them were running away from something. And a moment after that, the ghost twins ghost sense would go off.

"Ghost time," said Tucker, noticing the two's ghost sense as well, "Can I finish both your fries?"

"Great," said Danielle, as she and her brother stood up from the table, "Just want we needed... A ghost attack."

"Let's take care of this quickly," said Danny, as he looked around for a place to change before ducking down beneath the table the group was at alongside his sister.

"Going ghost," the twins would say in unison as the familiar white rings would envelop their bodies.

Flying out from under the table and in the opposite direction of the screaming crowds, the ghost twins would find the ghost rather quickly. One that Danielle would recognize right away. "Say," asked Danielle, as the twins stopped in front of the dragon ghost, "Haven't I met you before?"

"You know this ghost," asked Danny, raising a brow whilst the Dragon Ghost let out a roar.

"Watch out," shouted Dani, as she realized what the Dragon was about to do. Which was belting out a stream of fire right at the ghost twins.

Author's Note: And there we go. The first half of Parental Bonding done. Hopefully it doesn't take me three months to write the second half. I don't think it will but who knows if I'll have an easy time or not. Anyway, I would love if you told me how you liked the chapter. Reading your reviews gives me some energy to continue writing. See you next chapter.
