Chapter 10 Attack of the Killer Garage Sale Part 1
The next two days would go easy for Danielle which she was grateful for. Part of that was due to it being a holiday weekend, and the other was, thankfully, no ghost attacks. Finally, it would reach Monday and Danielle would find herself down in the lab helping her dad. Something she sometimes just did out of boredom. But also, because she found herself having a genuine interest ever since she became part ghost herself.
"Wrench," asked Jack.
"Wrench," replied Danielle, as she handed her dad the wrench in the toolbox next to her before returning to screwing something herself on the device they were working on.
"Screwdriver," Jack would ask after a minute.
"Screwdriver," Danielle replied, as she handed him a spare.
"Sandwich," said Jack, a few minutes after that.
"Dad… I'm not handing you a sandwich," said Danielle, as she sighed a second before putting her head on one hand and looking at her father incredulously.
"Sorry, baby girl," said Jack, as he reached over his daughter for the aforementioned sandwich, "I didn't actually mean for you to hand me my sandwich. I just-"
"Got so absorbed in the work you couldn't help it," finished Danielle, "Yeah I know, Dad. Happens to me whenever I really get into a game."
"That's my girl," said Jack, as he took a bite of his sandwich, "A chip off the old block."
Danielle would roll her eyes at her dad's antics but would continue with the work on the device. "So this device is going to be called what again," asked Danielle, after a moment of silence.
"The Ghost Weasel," replied Jack, in his ever-cheerful tone he had, "It'll grab ambient ghost energy and shoot it into the ghost zone."
"Why do you want to shoot the energy back into the ghost zone though," asked Danielle, as she stopped working to look over the plans, "Wouldn't you rather study it or something?"
"Ghost energy can be harmful to humans, sweetie," said Jack, as he finished his sandwich, "So finding a way to quickly get rid of it is essential for our line of work. Well, until me and your mum can finish the Fenton Ecto-Purifier. Then maybe we can use it as an energy source for our stuff."
"I see," said Danielle, as she returned to screwing some more screws, "But... Why make it look like a vacuum cleaner, Dad?"
"Ease of convenience," said Jack, as he too returned to working on the device.
After that the two would work in silence, mostly. The sound of screwing and wrenching the only sounds in the lab as they worked. After about thirty minutes though, Jack would exclaim, "It's done!"
"Phew," said Danielle, as she wiped some grease from her forehead, "That was harder than I thought it would be."
"But worth it," said Jack, as he put the strap of the device around his shoulder, "Thanks for helping me out, baby girl."
"No problem, dad," replied Danielle, with a smile, "Should we test it out?"
"Of course, let me jus-" Jack began to say, before he was interrupted with Danny walking down into the lab, "Hey Danny! Check out our latest innovation in ghost-grabbing technology: The Ghost Weasel! It collects ambient ghost energy and shoots it into the ghost zone."
"Our," Danny would reply first, at first confused until he saw his sister standing next to Jack, "Oh, Danielle helped you with it. Does it work?"
"Why wouldn't it," shouted Jack, a little insulted, "Me and your sister worked on it together, of course it would work… Though... Only one way to find out." Saying that, Jack would begin to move his finger towards a button on the machine.
Seeing what her dad was about to do, and realizing he forgot to change the power output, Danielle would shout out, "Wait! Dad don't forge-" But it was too late, Jack would press a button on the nozzle of the device, and it would come to life. The sound of whirring machinery was soon heard and then air began to be sucked into the device.
But the suction was too strong for the twin's father and he found himself having a hard time controlling where to point the thing. Numerous papers would be sucked into the machine until one of the thermoses that was on a table nearby was sucked in instead and became stuck in the nozzle.
Now clogged, Jack attempted to pry the thermos out with his bare hands. Only to struggle in vain.
"Darn it," shouted Jack, as he shoved the device's nozzle into Danny's arms and placed the main part of the machine down on the ground, "Better get the Fenton Unlodger." With that, he would run out of the lab to find the device.
Looking down at the device, Danny would say, "Dad, couldn't you just throw it into-"
Realizing what Danny was going to do, Danielle would again shout out, "Wai-," only for Danny to press a button on the main device that said 'reverse' next to it. The machine's whirs intensified, and suddenly the thermos was shot out of the device's nozzle… Right towards the open button to the Ghost Portal.
Hitting the button, the Ghost Portal's door would slowly open, revealing the green swirling portal indicative of the Ghost Zone.
"Reverse," Danny would shout, finishing his earlier statement.
"I told you to wait," shouted Danielle, as she hit the off button on the weasel, "Now we're probably going to have to deal with a ghost! Thanks, brother.'
And right on cue, a ghost emerged. The Ghost was human in shape minus the legs and looked like a mad scientist with sunglasses and wild white hair. It cackled as it emerged from the portal.
"Child, you have freed me, Technus," shouted the ghost, "Ghost master of science and electrical technology!"
"Oh no you don't," shouted Danny, as he placed down the nozzle of the weasel and jumped into the air transforming into his ghost form, "You're not going to use the technology in this lab to take over the world."
"What," said Technus, as he looked around
"Really Danny," said Danielle, "The ghost literally just arrived! I doubt it even knew where it was!"
"That's a great idea," shouted Technus, "Have you ever considered tutoring?" Not giving his sister, a chance to jump in or speak for that matter, Danny would charge at the ghost. The ghost though was prepared and summoned a stick with a sparking spiky ball into his hands.
Just when Danny was in range, the ghost would move it in front of the ghost boy and send thousands of jolts of electricity through his body. "Oooo," winced Danielle, "That looks like it hurt…"
After a moment, the shock of the attack would send Danny reeling back towards Danielle and the Fenton Weasel. "You know what," said Danny, "I've already been dumped once in my own house. And that's enough for one day!" Saying that, Danny would land by the weasel and pick up the nozzle before clicking the on button on it.
The machine whirring to life again, Danny would hold on to it tightly before charging at Technus again and sucking the ghost into the device. The whole time, Technus would scream as he was pulled in.
As Technus arrived in the bag on the machine, Danielle would see the main unit would balloon up, but before she could say anything to Danny, the suction would suck up more tech from around the lab. But this tech wouldn't get stuck in the nozzle. This tech would get sucked straight in and cause the main unit to balloon even further which caused it to start to shake. "This ain't good," Danielle would have enough time to say, before the main unit exploded and sent green goop out all over the lab and herself.
"Danny, I'm coming back," shouted Jack, from outside the lab, "And I can't wait to see the lab looking exactly the way I left it."
"Ugh," said Danny, as he went intangible and left the room.
"Hey Bro," Danielle tried to shout, only to gag due to goop that nearly entered her mouth, "Ugh, gross…"
The next second, the twin's father would return with Unlodger in hand. Looking around the lab, he would see all the goop all over everything and his daughter and say, "Yep. Perfect."
Author's Note: Not going to lie, this was an interesting chapter to write. At first, I wasn't certain if I liked the direction I was going with for Danielle at first, but the more I wrote the more I liked it. As for the title of the chapter... I'm sticking with the name of the actual episode, if one of you guys can think up a better name, leave a review with it. Maybe it'll be changed to that. Until next time!
