The next after Pokemon School in the Melemele Meadow, Lincoln, along with his family and friends, and Chandler, were watching Sophocles training his Grubbin; he was currently facing a butterfly-like Pokemon with a purple body, red eyes, blue muzzle, hands, and feet; and black and white wings. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon to see what it was.
"Butterfree, the Butterfly Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Caterpie. Its wings are covered in toxic scales. If it finds bird Pokémon going after Caterpie, Butterfree sprinkles its scales on them to drive them off." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"I'll bet Lola or Leni would want this Pokemon." said Lynn.
"After we're done here, I'll tell them about it." said Lincoln.
"Grubbin, use Spark!" said Sophocles. His Grubbin leaps at the Butterfree as his body becomes covered in electricity and slams into it, dealing super effective damage; the Butterfree's body starts to twitch.
"It's paralyzed, Sophocles." said Alola Lana. Butterfree manages to fight through paralysis and flaps its wings, sending a gust of wind at Grubbin, hitting him, and doing super effective damage.
"Grubbin, use Acrobatics!" said Sophocles. His Grubbin bounces off rocks surrounding Butterfree and hits it repeatedly, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Nice job, Sophocles!" said Shelby. Grubbin takes a breath before he freezes up and begins to glow.
"He's evolving!" said Lincoln. Everyone watches as Grubbin starts to change; when he was done, he had a box-shaped, green body with blue eyes, two small yellow spikes on the sides of its vertical mouth that had sharp jaws.
"Cool!" said Shiloh. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at Sophocles' newly evolved Pokemon.
"Charjabug, the Battery Pokemon, and the evolved form of Grubbin. It buries itself in fallen leaves and barely moves, munching away on humus. If you accidentally step on one, you'll get a shock!" said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Congratulations, Sophocles." said Lincoln.
"Now you can do that Charjabug Racing." said Shane.
"I can't wait to get started on my racer." said Sophocles.
"Whatever." said Chandler. The group heard movement from nearby; they looked to see a light green Pokemon that resembled a plant bulb with green leaves on top of its head jump out of the grass. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Petilil, the Bulb Pokemon. Some say if you dry the leaves on its head, boil them down, and drink the infusion, your vigor will return, so Petilil is popular with the elderly." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"It's so cute." said Lillie, getting Chandler's attention.
"You want this Pokemon, babe?" asked Chandler.
"Yes, I do." replied Lillie. Chandler pulls out a pokeball.
"Go, Vullaby!" said Chandler, throwing Vullaby's pokeball and releasing her. "Vullaby, use Pluck!" Vullaby leaps at Petilil while her beak glowed white and she jabs Petilil with it, dealing super effective damage. "This Pokemon will be no challenge to Vullaby." Petilil releases a blue powder from the leaves on its head onto Vullaby; she stumbles around and falls asleep.
"That must've been Sleep Powder." said Mallow.
"Hey; wake up, Vullaby!" shouts Chandler. Vullaby remained asleep.
"Ha; lame!" said Lynn. Chandler growls before returning Vullaby to her pokeball. Chandler puts Vullaby's pokeball and pulls out another pokeball.
"Go, Pinsir!" as he throws Pinsir's pokeball and releases him. "Pinsir, use Vice Grip!" Pinsir charges at Petilil and clamps its pincers on its head onto Petilil, damaging it, and knocking it to the ground. Chandler takes an empty pokeball out of his backpack and gives it to Lillie. She tosses it at Petilil, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled a few times until it clicked. Lillie walks to Petilil's pokeball and picks it up.
"I caught a Petilil." said Lillie. Chandler hugs Lillie from behind.
"Congratulations, babe." said Chandler; Lillie shudders at the physical contact from the obnoxious redhead. Lincoln uses his Rotom Phone to look up Petilil's information.
"This says your Petilil's a girl, she knows Absorb, Growth, Leech Seed, and Sleep Powder; she has the Chlorophyll ability which increases her speed when it's really sunny out." said Lincoln.
"It's getting late." said Lynn as she looks at the time on her device.
"Yeah, let's go back to the hotel." said Shelby. She and the rest of the group start making their way back to Hau'oli City.
Meanwhile, at a mansion in a rough-looking city, Team Skull was hanging out in the foyer.
"When's the boss getting back?" asked a male Team Skull member with green hair.
"He's busy doing the Island Challenge." said a female Team Skull member with long brownish-orange hair.
"I can't wait for him to dominate the Alola League and show everyone what Team Skull can do!" said Tupp.
Suddenly, the front doors open, and Plumeria walks into the foyer; next to him was a man with white hair on top of his head while the part around the back of it was black; he was wearing a black, short-sleeved jacket with zigzag patterns on each side of it over a white t-shirt, black pants with white X's on the knees, white shoes, gold framed sunglasses, a gold pendant with Team Skull's insignia on it.
"It's Guzma, yo!" said the Team Skull members. A Team Skull member with blackish-brown hair steps forward and starts doing a rap.
The world you know is ready to crash!
Time to clean the house and take out the trash!
Break it down, serve it up, tear it down, fix it up, solid seal, do the deal, make it real!
Full power, burn it up, blue sky, full cup, no one calls it like the team who knows what's up!
Put your hands together, let me hear you say up, what's up!
After the rap was done, Team Skull cheered for Guzma.
"Thanks for that." said the man now known as Guzma.
"No problem, boss!" said the black-haired Team Skull member.
"Everyone doin' their jobs?" Guzma asked everyone.
"You know we are, boss!" said a female Team Skull member with reddish-brown hair that goes down just above her shoulders.
"How are you guys doing on Akala Island?" asked Guzma.
"We're doing great, boss!" said a Team Skull member with light brown hair.
"The people there know that we're for real!" said a younger female Team Skull member with purple hair.
"What about Ula'ula Island?" asked Guzma.
"Things are going smoothly there, Guzma." said Plumeria.
"What about Melemele Island?" asked Guzma.
"Could be better." said Tupp with shame on his face.
"What do you mean?" asked Guzma as he glares at Tupp, making him nervous.
"There's this bunch of dweebs from the Pokemon School who've been giving us trouble!" said Zipp.
"Especially that white-haired runt." said Tupp.
"Don't talk about my cutie like that!" said Rapp as she bops Tupp on the head.
"I know the ones you are talking about." said Plumeria. "I met them at Memorial Hill on Akala Island."
"You did?!" asked Tupp.
"Did you battle them?" asked Rapp with concern for Lincoln.
"I battled the girl with brown hair that was in a ponytail." said Plumeria.
"How did it go?" asked Tupp with anticipation in his voice.
"Believe it or not, I was defeated." said Plumeria, surprising most of the Team Skull members.
"How could you lose?!" asked the pale blue-haired Team Skull member.
"She was quite strong." said Plumeria.
"I'll bet that Lincoln kid is stronger than she is." said Zipp.
"Maybe." said Plumeria.
"I think I would like to meet these kids and show them what happens when they mess with Team Skull!" said Guzma.
"Yeah!" shouts the Team Skull members.
"Show no mercy!" said a Team Skull member.
The next morning, Sophocles was frantically running towards the Pokemon School while holding a bunch of blueprints in his arms.
"Man, I should've set my alarm!" said Sophocles. "I was up half the night working on plans for my Charjabug Racer!"
As he nears the school's front gates, the sound of engines gets his attention, making him look to see a bunch of Team Skull motorcycles heading his way.
"Not them again." said Sophocles as he runs through the school's gates, just as Team Skull pulls up in front of them, making Sophocles stop in his tracks.
"Well, look who we have here." said Tupp as he and several Team Skull members climb off their motorcycles. As Sophocles looks at them, he notices a larger motorcycle with a sidecar that had Guzma and Plumeria on it as they began to climb off.
"This one of the students here giving you trouble?" asked Guzma.
"Yeah, boss." said Rapp as she looks around for something... or someone.
"Do you know who you're messing with, kid?" Guzma asked Sophocles.
"You're Team Skull." said Sophocles.
"I see you're one of the smart students." said Guzma. "Not smart enough to know not to challenge us."
"You don't scare me." said Sophocles as he tosses a pokeball, letting out his Charjabug.
"Let's see if I can change that." said Guzma as he takes out a pokeball, letting out a large, silver, humanoid insect Pokemon with plating on parts of its body that looks like armor, two pairs of feelers coming out of its torso, long arms that have wrist plates on the ends of them along with two sharp claws.
In Professor Kukui's classroom, everyone in there was looking at the clock with concern.
"Where's Sophocles?" asked Lincoln.
"Dude's gonna be tardy." said Lynn.
"That's not like him to be late." said Alola Lana.
"Maybe he's sick?" suggested Shelby.
"That's possible I guess." said Mallow. Lincoln decides to look out over the balcony towards the front of the school to see if Sophocles was coming; to his surprised shock, he sees him and his Charjabug, standing in front of Team Skull and a Pokemon he hasn't seen before.
"It's Team Skull!" said Lincoln, making his friends and family run over to see for themselves.
"What are they doing here?!" asked Lillie.
"And that's Sophocles in front of them!" said Shelby.
"He could need our help!" said Lincoln as he jumps onto the balcony's slide and starts going down it, with everyone else following after them; Professor Kukui looks towards the front of the school and sees someone he recognized.
"Guzma?" said Professor Kukui.
Back at the front of the school, Sophocles and Guzma's Pokemon were battling.
"Golisopod, use Liquidation!" said Guzma. His Pokemon, now known as a Golisopod, puts its hands together and makes a sword made of water; it slashes at Charjabug, hitting him, and knocking him out.
"Charjabug!" said Sophocles.
"What a pushover." said Guzma as he walks past his Golisopod and towards Sophocles's Charjabug.
"Hey!" Lincoln shouts out, making everyone look to see him, along with his family and friends, running over to them.
"CUTIE!" shouts Rapp as she runs past Guzma and tackle-hugs Lincoln to the ground before she starts kissing his face all over.
"Get off him!" shouts Mallow as she pulls Lincoln away from Rapp.
"Hey!" shouts Rapp as she gets in Mallow's face. "I wasn't done yet!"
"Oh, yes you are!" shouts Mallow as lightning travels between her and Rapp's gazes.
"Rapp was right!" said a female voice from where Lincoln is.
"You are so cute!" said another female voice.
Mallow and Rapp look to see several female Team Skull members were with Lincoln. The shorter female member with the purple hair had her arms wrapped around Lincoln's torso as she nuzzles his chest while the orange-haired one and the redhead had their arms wrapped around his shoulders as they peppered his face with kisses, making it turn red.
"Hey, let go of him!" shouts Mallow.
"Yeah, he's mine!" shouts Rapp before she and Mallow glare at each other again.
"Would you girls get over here?!" asked Guzma. The female Team Skull members sulk before they release Lincoln and walk over to their associates while winking at Lincoln and blowing him kisses as they do. Lincoln quickly runs over to Charjabug and stands over him while glaring at Guzma.
"Leave Charjabug alone!" said Lincoln. Plumeria walks over and stands next to Guzma while glaring at Lincoln.
"Is this the one that's been giving you trouble?" Plumeria asked Tupp.
"That's the runt!" said Tupp, making the female Team Skull members scowl at him.
"I've been hearing a lot of talk about you, kid." said Guzma. As Lincoln looks him over, he looks at his Golisopod and points his Rotom Phone at it.
"Golisopod, the Hard Scale Pokemon, and the evolved form of Wimpod. The shell covering its body is as hard as diamond. This Pokémon will do anything it takes to win." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"What's that thing?" asked Guzma.
"My Rotom Phone." said Lincoln.
"Looks interesting." said Guzma.
"Yeah, well you can't have it." said Lincoln.
"I've been hearing a lot of talk about you, kid." said Guzma. "Apparently, you've been giving some of my guys trouble."
"They were causing trouble." said Lincoln.
"Well, that doesn't mean I'll look the other way if you challenge us." said Guzma. As Lincoln looks him over, he notices he had Island Challenge Amulet on his waist.
"You're doing the Island Challenge also?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah, kid." said Guzma. "When I win the Alola League, I'll show everyone what Team Skull can do!"
"Not if I beat you first!" said Lincoln.
"Don't underestimate him, Lincoln." said Sophocles as he runs over and picks up his Charjabug.
"I won't." said Lincoln as he begins to stand up.
"Hold it right there, Larry." Chandler's voice calls out, making everyone look to see the obnoxious redhead running over to them.
"What are you doing here?" asked Lynn.
"And his name's Lincoln." said Shelby.
"Heard the noise from my classroom and came over to check out what was going on." said Chandler. "Plus, I was bored with the lessons so it gave me an excuse to get away from them."
"Who's this kid?" asked Guzma.
"Never seen him before." said Plumeria.
"Some runt who's not worth your time, boss." said Tupp.
"Hey!" shouted Chandler. "I'm more than worth the time for him, and more than he can handle."
"Well, we can't handle your company, so that could be true." said Shelby.
"You think you can take me on, kid?" asked Guzma with a smirk.
"I don't think..." said Chandler.
"You can say that again." said Shiloh.
"Shut up." said Chandler.
"I guess I can take a little bit of time to battle you, kid." said Guzma. "It'll let me show you brats what I can really do."
"You're on." said Chandler. 'If I take down this Team Skull dork, everyone will worship me, and Lillie will be so impressed she'll beg me to go out with her.' (a/n: It must be nice living in Fantasy Land, Chandler; we'll see you if we want a break from reality.)
Moments later, Chandler and Guzma were standing several yards from each other while Lincoln and his family and friends, as well as Plumeria and the rest of Team Skull watched.
"It feels weird cheering for that chump, Chandler, even if he is battling the leader of Team Skull." said Lynn.
"How many Pokemon are we using?" asked Chandler.
"One." replied Guzma.
"Chandler better have been training his Pokemon after he took on Gladion." said Lincoln; Lynn blushes at the mention of Lillie's brother. Chandler and Guzma each pull out a pokeball.
"Golisopod, go!" said Guzma, throwing his Golisopod's pokeball and releasing it.
"Come out, Arbok!" said Chandler, throwing Arbok's pokeball and releasing her; she glares at Golisopod, making it slump. "My Arbok has the Intimidate ability, so your Golisopod's attack strength weakens."
"That ability won't save your Arbok." replied Guzma. "Golisopod, use Swords Dance!" Golisopod crosses its arms, and they glow blue and become thicker.
"Swords Dance raises the attack strength of the Pokemon that used it." said Sophocles.
"So much for your Arbok's Intimidate." said Guzma.
"She still has her attacks; Arbok, use Crunch!" said Chandler. Arbok lunges at Golisopod while her teeth glowed white and she bites Golisopod, damaging it; Golisopod slumps as its defense weakens.
"Golisopod, Razor Shell!" said Guzma. A blade of water comes out of one of Golisopod's arm plates and it slashes Arbok with it, dealing damage.
"Arbok, Thunder Fang!" said Chandler. Arbok lunges at Golisopod while electricity surrounded her fangs.
"Golisopod, Iron Defense!" said Guzma. Golisopod crosses its arms and its body shines, raising its defense before Arbok bites it, dealing super effective damage. "Now use Slash!" Golisopod slashes Arbok with its claws and damages her.
"Arbok, Fire Fang!" said Chandler. Arbok's fangs become covered in fire, and she bites Golisopod, damaging it; fire surrounds its body. "Ha; Golisopod's burned." Golisopod flinches in pain from its burn.
"Golisopod, use Liquidation!" said Guzma. Golisopod forms a sword made of water and it slashes Arbok with it, knocking her to the ground, unconscious.
"No way!" shouts Chandler.
"Way to go, boss!" said a male Team Skull member.
"Got to admit, Chandler lasted longer than I thought he would." said Lynn. Chandler frowns and returns Arbok to her pokeball. He puts it away and looks ahead to see Guzma looking down at him with a hand held out towards him. Growling, Chandler takes out half of his pokedollars and gives them to Guzma.
"That wasn't a good enough battle to be considered a warmup." said Guzma as he returns his Golisopod to its pokeball.
"You just got lucky!" said Chandler.
"Whatever." said Guzma. He and Plumeria go over to their motorcycle and climb into it.
"Let's go, everyone." said Plumeria.
"Hold on a second." said Rapp as she runs over to Lincoln and kisses him on the cheek, making Mallow growl at her.
"Yeah, wait for us." said the other female Team Skull members as they run over to Lincoln and kiss him on the cheeks also, making Mallow growl more fiercely as she tries to lunge at them while Alola Lana tries to restrain her; after that, Team Skull gets on their motorcylces and ride off.
"So that was Guzma, huh?" asked Lincoln.
"He's stronger than I thought he'd be." said Lynn.
"With trainers like him and Gladion, I'll need to really step up my training if I'm gonna be ready for them at the Alola League." said Lincoln.
"Don't forget you'll probably have to battle me, Larry." said Chandler.
"You're not worth worrying about." said Lynn.
"Guzma." Professor Kukui says from behind the group, making them look to see him standing, looking in the direction at Guzma rode off in.
"Professor Kukui?" said the group.
"Alola, everyone." said Professor Kukui; he then looks back down the direction Team Skull went. "It's been a while since I've last seen Guzma."
"You know him, Professor?" asked Lincoln.
"We use to be apprentices to Kahuna Hala." replied Professor Kukui.
"So, what happened?" asked Lynn.
"He just didn't believe in Kahuna Hala's teachings and decided to try to become stronger on his own, and without the use of a Z-Ring or Z-Crystals." replied Professor Kukui.
"He definitely didn't need one in his last battle, even though it was just Chandler he was battling." said Lynn.
"Hey!" yelled Chandler.
"He's doing the Island Challenge, Professor Kukui." said Lincoln.
"Lincoln; I want you to train hard in case you do face Guzma in the Alola League." said Professor Kukui.
"I will, Professor." replied Lincoln.
"I'm going to train, too." said Chandler with pride.
"Pretty sure Guzma will still cream you even if you do." said Lynn.
"Wait and see, Loud!" shouted Chandler.
"Come on, everyone; let's back to class." said Professor Kukui. Everyone then walks towards the Pokemon School.
Lincoln and his family, friends, and Chandler have just met the leader of Team Skull, Guzma, who plans on competing in the Alola League. Will Lincoln be able to defeat him should they face each other there? Wait and find out.
