It was a little funny, how much tiny little Hanabi scowled at his wife and grumbled at every opportunity about her presence. To be fair, Naruto was told, the little girl had decided to come into town herself. Chocho insisted on coming along, shepherding the child and joining her for lunch. Also to be fair, everyone knew she just missed Sasuki.
The two of them had bonded far more than the young man expected in what little time was spent together here in Ironhold. Hanabi was amazed by the older woman's warrior-esc nature and stone-solid demeanor, of how she trained herself up from nothing, how she commanded respect! Sasuki got endeared powerfully to the young lady, all while just trying to be courteous and gentle to the poor abused soul. All of them were, his wife included. Though with his raven's distaste for Chocho never exactly hidden, it was inevitable that Hanabi wouldn't like her either.
At least she'd pretend she didn't.
Most of her acting out consisted of pouting with her arms folded and mumbling her answers when spoken too, neither of which were particularly disruptive Naruto mused. All this to say, her presence didn't make his little lunch date any worse. Chocho and him chatted idly about nothing. About the various birds or critters she'd seen from the enormous indoor patio while having her own breakfast, about all the new dishes and delights the small army of servants back home offered.
Naruto was content to listen quietly and eat, interjecting only the occasional word.
It was enough to watch her be happy.
Chocho had a powerfully cute smile, with her adorable round cheeks and big yellow eyes. To say nothing of the new tan-yellow dress that looked just a little too big for her. It was almost like a teen trying too hard to look like an adult, the way it hung off of her, with various knots and such tied not quite correctly.
Her husband had complimented it, of course, when they met up in the tavern's interior; shared some words about how lovely her bare arms looked. None of her old dresses shared such a style. Naruto couldn't help but feel like it was for him, an effort to dress more mature, more sexy; hard not to be flattered by that. It would certainly explain why she came straight to see him after picking it up.
Also a little more about why Hanabi was so annoyed.
She was content now though, munching away at her bean soup. The little one didn't like much of the greasy, bulk-made commoner crap that was common to their homes only restaurant, but the meatless chili knockoff really captured her interest, oddly enough. One of her favorite dishes, it seemed, said she liked the spice.
Chocho and him did as well, both finishing two bowls with ease and some bread. Naruto liked the food here but tried not to visit all the same; it was always uncomfortable, to an extent. The atmosphere was a lot nicer now, after Marui had bribed the owner to clear out a good half of the tables he'd crammed the interior with and limit the number of people inside a bit more.
There were still more than enough folks to annoy him with their praise though.
It was worst when one of the miners tried to pay for them, having to bring up out loud that it would be wrong to accept, that his family was far, far richer than any day laborer. Saying such things felt so conceded, and the interruptions were awkward. Not that he could do anything about it; certainly not blame the folks.
People were thankful.
Marui had somehow more than doubled their pay within a month of taking mayorship, and somehow he was the one getting credit for it. To be fair, the town's ruler was rarely out of her manor, especially in the last month, and half the time they told him to pass along gratitude to her as well. Even pregnant though, she was doing an astounding job running Ironhold.
It seemed to grow by the day. Every old house of commerce from the bar to the general store was being expanded, with floods of migrants coming in by river and the surrounding farms for the promise of double pay. Many of them and old workers alike were building homes too. Their little hamlet was starting to look more and more like a proper village, doubly so with the sawmill that had just been finished along the river!
Also owned directly by his magnificent mother-in-law and also paying a great deal above average for such work. The newly cheap wood was no small part of the reason for the town's explosive growth, she said. It helped ease any guilt he felt for the luxury he enjoyed.
Although he still felt a little awkward helping his wife up into the rickshaw outside, granted the walk home wasn't exactly a short trip, and they still had servants to spare, but still. There was something deeply uncomfortable about the stocky Hyuuga man who wordlessly grabbed the poles and waited for their order.
"I'll see you at home soon; I just have to grab some supplies," he told Chocho as she sat down. A sweet smile spurred him to lean in, half climbing on the vehicle to kiss her firmly until the younger lady groaned out her disgust. Naruto ignored this. "Maybe we can talk more about how much I like this dress when I get back~" he said a little quieter, running a finger down her arm as he sank his gaze down to the beautiful bosom stretching the fabric.
"Naruto!" she gently protested, averting her eyes and pushing him away as she blushed. He let himself be rebuked. Smiling himself and thinking about his next move for the day. Seeing that vehicle steadily disappearing down the road, he went about his honest business in town first.
There was still one more trip to be made out to see Karin and the fangfolk before departing, and he was yet to buy his food for it.
After that was done, he went to see Temari.
To check the mail of course, was his official excuse; hear what word there was from the sheriff about the town's safety, conveniently delivered by his beautiful, splendid wife! Naruto found himself moving quickly towards the office, even with the hulking travel pack. A cargo so large he had to remove it just to fit through the door.
Entering found the place just as he remembered it, the small square room with the humble furniture and the utterly gorgeous woman in green sitting at the desk. Though the scowl on her face made him tread just a little more lightly. Approaching her with only a gentle smile on his face and genuine joy in his eyes as he gave his greeting.
"Temari," he said simply.
"Mr. Akimichi," she replied tersely, despite the way that name always made him blink. Or maybe it was being called Mr. He'd mentioned he was an orphan; it had to be an adjustment to him picking up a family name, not that the young Suna woman was particularly sympathetic about that matter. In fact, she tormented her visitor a little more. "Your wife already came by for the package; I don't have anything for you,"
"I didn't know there was a package," he answered honestly. "I just came to see you,"
"HMMM. Well, you're a full morning later than usual, and you didn't bring me anything to eat," she huffed, looking away, if only briefly. Naruto scratched his head awkwardly. Still, he continued smiling as he gave his explanation.
"Marui invited me to breakfast with her yesterday, uh… mine stuff to discuss,"
"Sure, I bet," she bit back. "You'll be happy to know your wife doesn't suspect anything about me. That child was practically bouncing coming in, wouldn't shut up about the new outfit and how it looked and if I thought her husband would like it-" she rambled, her voice growing mocking and irritated as Naruto frowned apologetically. "She fucking stripped down right here after she saw the deadbolt on the door, in front of me, said she wanted to change in case she bumped into you in town,"
"Oh gods that's… I'm sorry that must have been weird," he muttered, not sure what else to say.
"More jarring," she claimed, eyes still not meeting him. "Don't know why you married a fat cow like that,"
"Hey!" Naruto bit, immediately on defensive, a switch flipped in him at that special, important line that Temari had so carelessly crossed. "You don't have to like my wife, and you don't have to like the fact I'm married, but I will stop coming here if you're throwing around nasty words about someone I love,"
He saw an eye twitch and had to stiffen just to not show his fear.
Tense in a way that lingered throughout their little staring contest, sagging instantly when she was first to avert her gaze. The way her pursed lips wiggled, her composure started to slip. It instantly killed any anger he had towards the lonely princess, the lonely wife who had so little in her life to actually bring joy, and who had to watch her lover's wife strip right in front of her.
He had already apologized for that, he reminded himself.
"Fine, sorry… It was a stupid thing to say anyway," she grumbled, wiping an eye and trying to hide it as merely brushing her hair back. "Men like bodies like that, obviously you like bodies like that you married her. Woman with big boobs and big wide hips and all that soft fat covering their body," her voice cracked by the end of the remark.
It was not lost, not even on Naruto, that all the attributes Temari highlighted were such a stark contrast to her own dainty form.
Hells, he'd even joked more than once with the basket of baked goods he regularly brought about trying to fatten her up a little. If only he'd realized that he was hitting a nerve. It was something he said in response to her worrying about gaining weight though, it seemed like the perfect thing to say in the moment!
Was this all just hot air? Temari always seemed aware of how strikingly beautiful she was, confident in herself and her charms. Still, it was so rare to see her upset in such a way.
It hurt his heart.
"Temari," he began gently, stepping closer and dropping the last vestiges of anger from his eyes. It brought her gaze back up, if nothing else. "You know there's nothing wrong with the way you look, your body; you're incredibly beautiful," he assured.
It wasn't enough to earn a smile as she replied.
"So I've been told," she mocked. "Then again, the guy I hear it from the most is constantly shoving sugary sweet bread and candy and other fattening food in my mouth, so, you know, I take it with a grain of salt,"
"Oh gods Temari, I'm so sorry," he mumbled. "You know I only make comments like that because I thought you were afraid of gaining weight, like you thought it was ugly or something. I don't have any desire to change your body; I just bring you food because it seems to make you happy!"
She made a noise like a scoff that fell in on itself. Again trying and again failing to subtly wipe her eyes while brushing her hair aside, though Naruto didn't know what else to say. Should he go? As the silence lingered and the air grew stale, he decided to ask.
"Do you want me to leave?"
"No! I- damnit I just…" she let her face fall into one hand, her arm braced on the desk as she forced herself to get her breathing steady. "I'm sorry, I'm just in a shitty mood and feel so worthless sometimes especially when a buxom beautiful girl strolls in and reminds me how little you need me," she rattled out sloppily, her voice growing nasally and humiliated.
She cringed when she felt his huge hand clench her shoulder.
"Temari, come on, you're not worthless at all; you do great work here! You helped us get that awesome caravan contract; you deal with all the mail and bookkeeping despite it not being your job or fair to ask of you," he slowly crawled his hand over to her back, stroking slowly as her breathing seemed to steady. "Besides, it's not about needing someone, is it? Way I see it, relationships are just about wanting to be around someone else, and I greatly enjoy every visit I make here,"
"Not this one I bet," she grumbled, though a grin cracked its way through the sadness at all his sweet words. The feel of his warm flesh against her spine was something too. It was magical really, a blessing at least, the way such a simple act could make the intense weight of woe on her heart just slowly lift away. When Naruto only gave a chuckle and didn't reply, she spoke again. "Or the one where I told you how much fangfolk ears earn!"
That made them both laugh, brought their minds back to the very beginnings of their relationship.
"I really am sorry for what I said, Naruto," she admitted.
"Me too,"
"Don't be. You haven't done anything to wrong me, I do love when you bring me food, when you joke around like you do," she grew a faint pink blush at the words, one that she even graced him to see when she turned to look up at him. The way it made his big blue eyes widen that miniscule amount just made her giddy.
It felt so nice to be appreciated, treasured.
To have him here.
Making the happy, loving expression twist and panic spread across his face was pretty fun too, she mused, watching it happen as she abruptly took a firm grip on his pants hem. There was an odd comfort seeing his soft cock when she pulled them down too. It certainly was fun to watch it bob and swell and raise up to point at her without so much as brushing the big tool.
"I know how to patch things up~" she whispered, stroking his thighs as she stared.
"Temari you don't have t-"
"-I told you, I'm hungry!" she scolded in mock anger, soundly shutting him up and summoning a flustered smile on his face. Her own eyes remained lidded, her smile sultry like the noise she made as she slowly stretched her lips around his thick cockhead. Oh, and what noises there were.
Naruto strained at the enthusiastic, slutty sounds she made as her mouth made its way down his meat. It sent vibrations up his shaft that left his knees wobbling. One hand had to come down and brace on the desk, the other circling his lover's dainty neck to scratch the back of it affectionately.
That earned another happy sound.
"Fuck Temari it's unbelievable how good you are at this," he declared. "How did a proper princess learn to suck dick better than anyone? Gods, the talent you must have started with, oh fuck your mouth is magical! I'm so fucking lucky!" he continued, delighting in the way her speed grew.
Soon she had half his rod rapidly disappearing past her soft lips with the power of a piston.
It didn't take five minutes for him to finish.
With a hearty, guttural gasp he filled her throat, still catching his breath as she swallowed and circled with her tongue. None of this was particularly helpful in getting the young man to regain his composure. Naruto was still red-faced and panting when she finished cleaning his cock and finally slid off of it to look back up at him with that damned dirty smile.
"Is it my turn?" he eventually asked, leaning down and letting his arm lower down her arm.
"Not today," she surprised him with the answer, and by the smile she wore with it. Enough so that he even worried again, guilt growing back. She must have seen it in his eyes; she put him back to his flustered face with one more lingering kiss on the half-hard cock in her face. "I'm not really in the mood, but you can pay me back a different way~"
"Anything," he claimed without thinking.
"You can bring me another plate of those jelly-filled doughnuts like you brought last week next visit~"
Both of them laughed again.
