Chapter Three: Boundaries
Sakura was heading back to her home, still wondering why the hell Tsunade would give her a solo mission like this? This was the Daimyo they were talking about! The ruler of the Fire Nation, shouldn't a Black Op be more suited for this line of work?! She was venturing and didn't notice that she almost bumped into someone.
"Watch it, Billboard Brow!" Sakura got out of her trance and saw Ino.
"Really, Ino?" Sakura asked. "We're not Genin anymore!" Sakura was getting more and more frustrated with each passing second.
"What's with you?" Ino asked. Normally, Sakura would call her "Boar", for old times, but she knew something was off.
"Sorry. Got a lot on my mind."
"Seems like it. By the way, I've got you a date with a real cutie!" Ino had hearts in her eyes and cooed like a school girl.
"Again?" Sakura was getting really irritated with these blind dates.
"Look, Sakura. It's time to face reality …" Ino paused, not knowing what to say next. "Sasuke's not coming back" Those words hit Sakura right in the gut. "If he were, then he'd be right here, right now." There was a moment of silence.
"Ino," Sakura paused, trying to think of something to say. "There's always a chance at redemption. Forgive and forget. People can learn from their mistakes. I know Sasuke will realize that. Sooner or later."
"Who told you that?" Ino asked. Sakura froze, not knowing where or who she learned it from.
"I," Sakura didn't know what to say. "I don't know." All of a sudden, she remembered a voice. The same voice she remembered a few times before. It meant everything to her. It was driving her mad.
"Mom"
Ino saw her freeze, and got concerned.
"You ok?" Ino asked.
"Y- Yeah," Sakura stuttered. "I'm ok."
"Hello, ladies!" A male voice echoed. Both women turned to look behind Ino and saw a muscular man, about a year older than Sakura, with silver hair, brushed to the side, and had black eyes. His get-up was a long, black muscle blouse with black bottoms, and he had what appeared to be ninja shoes. He also had a grass village headband on. Judging from his outfit, he had to be Chun-Nin.
"Sakura, this is Katsuya Makoto." Ino introduced. "He's from the Grass Village, Chun-Nin, from a noble clan, and your date tonight!" Sakura got even more irritated. The symbol of annoyance and anger appeared on the left side of her head. Before Sakura could say anything, Katsuya walked up to her and immediately swung his arm around her.
"I'm not gonna lie," He said. "You're even more hotter than Ino described."
"Uh, …" Sakura was trying to be nice. "Thank you … I think." At that moment, Inner Sakura appeared. For the first time, in so long.
"This guy is fuckin' creepy! Ino Pig, I'm gonna put a whole new meaning to the word hurt on you! CHA!"
"Let me know how it goes in the morning!" Ino chirped as she took off. "Bye!" After a moment, she was gone.
"So, what do you say we hit the town, …" Katsuya remarked, saying the one thing that made shake with disgust. "Babe?"
"For the record," Sakura began. "Please don't call me 'Babe'. And another thing, … Please remove you're arm off of me? Thank you." She picked his hand on her shoulder by her fingers, as if she was holding disgusting and filthy, and moved his arm off of her.
"Awe, don't be like that!" Katsuya protested. "Ino says you've gotta easy heart to get into!"
"She, … WHAT?!" Sakura growled with anger and venom in her voice.
"And another thing," Katsuya continued. "I hear you can be a little, …" the last word was said seductively as he placed his palm on her right anus cheek and gave a firm squeeze. "Rough" At that moment, Sakura grabbed his arm, twisted her body, picked him up into the air with her enormous strength, and threw him to the other side of the street.
"YOU, CREEP!" Sakura screamed. Everyone around her was watching the entire thing. Some of the citizens knew exactly who Sakura was, and also saw the incident that took place, and made a mental note to alert the Hokage if the Grass Village threw a fit. "GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE, AND AWAY FROM ME! OR, I SWEAR TO KAMI, I WILL BREAK EVERY BONE IN YOU'RE DAMN BODY, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO HEAL FOR AT LEAST A YEAR!" Little did everyone know, among the crowd, was Captain Yamato in a brown, hooded cape, watching the entire situation unfold, and immediately rose and left for the Hokage Tower. Katsuya sat up and looked at Sakura with fear and anger.
"You're fuckin' insane! Who in the right mind would wanna be with you?! You're probably a soon to be Tramp! Only an idiot would wanna be you're man, you're temper is that of a vicious "Rain" storm!" All of a sudden, that word popped into her head. Or, more importantly, that name. Her eyes, struck with the realization that she heard that name. Her eyes, shaking with utter realization.
Her body froze, like never before. All of a sudden, she had the same question that Naruto had go through his mind, once before.
'Was, …' Sakura thought. '… was my memory erased …?!' At that moment, her memories came flooding back. It was unbelievable!
RAIN!
~oOo~
~"Hey, Naruto. Who's this?" Sakura asked, looking at Rain. Rain walked up to her and held out her hand.
"Rain Tunuzuka. Nice to meet you, Sakura…" Rain said, shaking Sakura's hand, pretending to not know her last name.
"Haruno." Sakura finished with a smile. "Have to admit, you remind me of someone I know." She said, noticing that her hair had tints of blue. It's almost the same as Sasuke …
"Really." Rain said, trying to keep the conversation going. "My mom and sensei say I remind them of my uncle."~
~oOo~
~"Rain …" She muttered, looking at her.
"Mo- I mean, Sakura. You feeling ok?" Rain asked. Sakura looked at her funny.
"Yeah, I feel fine. In a hurry?" Rain nodded her head in agreement.
"You and Naruto seem to get along great." Sakura mentioned. Rain raised an eyebrow.
"How so?"
"It's as if you've known him for years." Sakura commented. Rain nodded.
"You'd be surprised."~
~oOo~
~"Mom," Rain began. "At first, I didn't know what to think of Dad." The both of them sat on a bench, enjoying a bottle of raspberry ice tea, given the fact that it was, indeed, a very hot day in the Leaf. "But, thanks to you and Naruto Sensei, I'm seeing a whole new different side, I never thought could exist."
"Rain, your father is, …" Genin Sakura began. "… Very self-conscious about how people view him. At least, that's how I see it. He has so much on him for being the last living Uchiha as of now, that, … He's probably forgotten what it's like, … To show happiness."
"I'm not gonna lie, you are one tough bitch put up with a dick like Dad."
"Rain!" Sakura snapped, causing Rain to cower. "Language!"
"Sorry." Rain said, with fear in her voice. "But, if Dad tries anything stupid, bear this in mind. One can seek redemption. Forgive. Forget. A person can learn from his mistakes." Genin Sakura looked at Rain, understanding her quote~
~oOo~
Katsuya got up and saw the frozen medical Kunoichi standing right there. It was almost as if she just remembered something important. Like something that was supposed to mean everything to her.
"Hey!" Katsuya asked. "You ok?" He walked over to her and almost placed his hand on her shoulder, when all of a sudden, another hand grabbed it. He looked next to him and saw a blonde ninja with a leaf village headband, with an orange jacket, with black sleeves and orange pants.
"You're lucky the Grass Village and Leaf Village are allies!" He growled, tightening his grip. "Leave. NOW! Grandma Tsunade has already sent word to you're Kage! Try to make a move on my teammate again, … And I will personally kick you're ass to the point where you won't have one!" At that moment, Sakura snapped out of her trance and realized that Naruto appeared.
'Where, … where did Naruto come from?!' Sakura thought as she watched him let go of the perv, and watch Katsuya go the other direction.
"You alright?" Naruto asked. Sakura looked at Naruto.
"Yeah, I'm ok." Sakura assured.
"I can tell you're lying!" Naruto snapped. It shook Sakura.
"I," Sakura began. "I don't really know." The both of them just stood there, not moving. "I gotta go. If you see Ino, tell her I owe her a punch to the face for setting me up with that pervert!" She then turned around and began to head to her place. At that moment, Naruto began heading to his apartment.
'She must have remembered her, too!' Naruto thought. As he turned the corner, he noticed Hinata passing by. "Hey! Hinata!" Hinata looked at Naruto and went red.
"Oh, … N-Naruto!" Hinata stuttered, looking away.
"What brings you all the way over here?"
"I, … I had to drop off something at the Hokage Tower. I also thought about stopping by a store and, … getting something, … um, … sweet."
"Oh, I see." Naruto looked away, blushing. All of a sudden, something made Hinata nearly faint. "… Would it be alright if I treated you?"
"R-R-Really?"
"Yeah, I mean, … If you don't mind." Naruto was scratching the back of his head.
"I-I'd like that." Hinata could barely keep herself from falling.
"Great!" Naruto exclaimed. "Anywhere you had in mind?" After that, it was revealed that Hinata had a favorite sweet shop that she and her sister would go to when they were little and went to that shop.
~oOo~
Sasuke was at the inn that his cousin owned, for it was decided that Taka would be allowed to reside there instead of the alternative. He laid in one of the rooms, looking at the ceiling, trying to fall asleep. But, he really couldn't. He was thinking of a particular Kunoichi that he thought he found really annoying. But, he couldn't stop thinking about how much she changed. Even he saw the strength that had grown within her. All from her healing his wound, to her puncturing a hole into the earth, several feet deep, and sending boulders into the air as if they were hacky sacks! It was then that he got up and went to the door of his room. It was getting late, and Shinni was getting ready to turn on security. She heard footsteps and looked to see Sasuke.
"Hey, Cousin Sasuke!" Shinni said. "I figured you'd be sleeping by now."
"Having a hard time." Sasuke replied. Sasuke went to the front desk and discovered a picture frame. He picked it up and saw Shinni in a blue blouse that looked like Sakura's from when she was a Genin, but there were no sleeves. She also had a mosquito net shirt underneath, along with short black bottoms and ninja gear that Kakashi wore. She didn't have a headband, but she did have a bow in her right hand and a set of arrows on her left shoulder. Next to her was a man, with a beard, blue eyes, and hair above his ears, along with buzzed hair on the sides, with hair in the middle, and from the look of it, it was long enough to be in a hair tie, and he had a headband on, covering his ears, and the headband was yellow with black designs on it. He also saw that the man had a what appeared to be a Leaf Village Jonin vest, and black pants and black shirt. It was a Leaf Village Jonin attire, but he didn't have any weapons bag or pouch on him.
"Who's this?" Shinni looked at her cousin, took the photo, and saw who he was referring to.
"Oh! Right! You don't know yet!" Shinni began to blush. "His name is Korroa."
"Boyfriend?" Sasuke raised an eyebrow. Shinni's blush went even deeper, and then she showed him her left hand. Sasuke saw a ring with a silver band and a blue sapphire diamond in the middle.
"Husband." Shinni said, causing Sasuke to go into shock. "Almost two years!"
"Where is he?" Sasuke asked.
"He's probably out there, looking for any of my sisters who managed to survive the plague that wiped out my dad's entire village."
"How many did you have?"
"Seventeen sisters, total!" That statement made Sasuke turn as white as a ghost. "Mom and Dad had a set of Octuplets. Followed by a set of Quadruplets, then a set of triplets, ending with a set of twins. I just happened to be the only one without a twin and was the oldest." All of a sudden, a man came in, but no one bothered to notice.
"You know that's not real."
"I don't care!" Shinni protested to Sasuke, knowing he was talking about the ring. "He actually made it for me while thinking of me! He knows my favorite color is blue, and he even made sure the band doesn't turn my finger green. Besides, it's not the price that makes a gift special. It's putting you're heart into it and thinking about the person who it's for. Korroa is kind, gentle, romantic, and so on." As Shinni was explaining this to Sasuke, the look on his face read 'shut up, already', but, he allowed her to continue, because for some reason, he was actually understanding what she meant. "He's also the only one who is willing to put up with my crazy ass and treat me like the person I am today."
"And way more than that." A male voice said. Sasuke turned and saw the man from the photo, only in a T-shirt and shorts. He had the headband on, but it was tucked under his ears. Shinni froze. Her eyes were shaking like crazy, then all of a sudden, she rose from her chair, went around the front desk, passed Sasuke, and wrapped her arms around the individual.
"Korroa, my love!" Shinni said as Korroa wrapped his arms around her, holding Shinni in an embrace. The looks on both faces were calm, happy, and love. Sasuke saw Korroa's face, and it read that he was happy and content to be with her. Shini pulled away, but enough to see his face. "I thought you were still snooping around in the Land of Lightning." Korroa then gently placed his lips upon Shinni's, allowing her to take a deep breath through her nose and exhale, very heavily. They broke apart and stared at each other.
"None of your sisters descriptions matched anyone at the orphanages that were there." Korroa said.
"Don't worry. I'm sure some of them are out there." Shinni assured. "Remember, my mom was an Uchiha. Go get some sleep, I'll be there in a bit."
"Ok." Korroa said, giving his wife a chaste kiss. He then looked and noticed Sasuke. "Why does he look a lot like Itachi Sensei?" Shinni turned to face Sasuke.
"Oh, yeah! I haven't been able to tell you!" Shinni said. "You know how Itachi Sensei was also my cousin, right?"
"Yeah?"
"This is his younger brother. Sasuke Uchiha."
"Shit!" Korroa said. "He looks like he has a stick up his ass!" That one comment made Sasuke glare at him.
"Easy, my love. I don't want to have to go 'Sperm Chocking' my only cousin." Shinni said. Sasuke was shocked, to say the least.
"YOU-" Sasuke couldn't believe it. "You have, … TWO KEKKEI GENKAIS?!"
"Damn, straight!" Shinni said with pride. "Not common, but it happens." Korroa wrapped his arms around Shini's waist. Shini placed her hand on top of his. "When I ran into your brother, he told me what happened. The only reason why I'm here is because I knew nothing about the Coup D' Etat and that Uncle Fugaku kicked his sister and my Dad out of the clan due to my dad's gambling problem. Mom couldn't live without him, so she went with him." At that moment, he remembered the night he left the Leaf Village and what Sakura said.
~oOo~
"I'm so madly in love with you that I can't even stand it!" Sakura screamed. He didn't move, nor turn, but he was shocked. More like surprised. "Stay with me, and I'll never let you regret it! We'll have fun, every day, and … you'll be happy! I'll make sure of it!" Sakura was in tears, trying to get everything out into the open. "I'll do anything for you, Sasuke! Just, please, … don't go!" Sasuke just stood there, acting like he didn't care. His mind said that he didn't, but his heart, … was saying a completely different story. "I'll even help you get revenge! I'll manage, somehow, but, please, … stay with me!" Sasuke didn't know what to say next. What she said made him know that he couldn't keep her safe. "If not, then, … take me with you …" Sasuke stood, for a moment, then turned to face her.
"You'll never change. You're still annoying." Sasuke's comment froze Sakura as he turned to continue.
"No!" Sakura screamed. "If you go, I'll scream, and-!" Before Sakura could finish, Sasuke appeared behind her.
"Sakura, …" Sasuke began. At that moment, with everything he had, he said two words that he knew would stick with her. "Thank you." Sakura all of a sudden felt something hit the nape of her neck, causing her to lose consciousness.
'Sasuke' Sakura thought only his name before everything went black. He laid her on the bench, nearby, but paused for a quick moment. Knowing that no one was around, nor that she would remember, he gently placed his lips on hers for only a second or so. As he parted, he felt a strand of hair pass his fingers. After that, he was gone.
~oOo~
Sasuke froze. He had completely forgotten that he bid her a farewell kiss. But why? Why did he kiss her?! He was more and more confused. He continued to watch his cousin and her husband.
"I was also studying to be an OB/GYN, and when we crossed paths, he trained me for as long as possible." Shinni added.
"OB/GYN?" Sasuke asked.
"It's an acronym for an Obstetrician Gynecologist. I specialized in childbirth and women's health. I also took care of extremely complicated childbirth up until I got fired from The Land of Moon."
"What happened?"
"Oh, the ruler of The Land of Moon's wife was expecting twins, but the process of that particular childbirth would result in one of the twins dying. I insisted on a C-section, but he demanded natural childbirth."
"And you agreed?"
"Sometimes patients have more say than doctors." Shinni looked at the floor with grimace. "The day came, and sure enough, one of the twins didn't survive. The ruler was so pissed that he threatened to shut down the hospital and put every single employee in the building out of work unless I was fired."
"And your boss agreed to it?!"
"I didn't take any offense into it. My boss apologized so many times that day. I was the best of the best in that hospital. He even said so, himself." Korroa held onto his wife and tightened his hold around her. "So, to make a long story short."
"Too late." Korroa said.
"I saved up enough funds to build this inn, and keep it going. I also learned how to use Solar and Wind power for electricity, heat, grow my own produce, Water to keep plumbing going, along with keeping the electricity flowing, and I gotta guy who's supplying me with meat. He's a friend, and I also delivered his triplets when his wife went into labor."
"Hmph." Sasuke said, rather impressed. Now, he was rather curious about this place. He decided that tomorrow morning, he'd explore, a bit, and see exactly how this inn was thriving.
"I'm gonna hit the hay." Korroa said.
"Alright." Shinni replied. "I'll be there in a little bit." Korroa then proceeded to the room in the back. "Have you thought about her, yet?"
"Still." Sasuke returned, knowing who his cousin was talking about.
"If you want, you can do a little drawing yourself. Think about her, and figure out what screams her. It's a start." With that statement being said, Shinni turned to the room in the back. Sasuke stood there for a moment, then returned to his room. He remembered Rain and her question that he never got to answer.
~oOo~
"I saw the look on you're face when that guy placed a kiss on Mom's forehead!" Rain said, as she and Genin Sasuke were heading to the Uchiha Compound.
"What are you talking about?" Sasuke asked.
"Don't be dumb, Dad! Even Naruto Sensei saw! You were jealous!" Rain said with a sinister smile on her face. Sasuke looked at her, extremely annoyed.
"I was NOT jealous!"
"The look on you're face read: 'That's my girl! Go find your own!' I can't believe that Sasuke Uchiha actually has a heart!" Rain began laughing.
"Enough, Rain!" Sasuke snapped. "She's annoying!"
"If she's that annoying, then why do you sneak a peak at her when nobody's looking?"
"I-!" Sasuke stuttered, bright red.
"I'm not an idiot, like Naruto Sensei, you know!" Rain winked at him, holding up a finger. "I watch you out of the corner of my eye, and facial expressions are a complete dead giveaway!" Sasuke couldn't dare move. There was no way he was in love with Sakura Haruno! Never! "Anyway, back to the question."
"I don't have to answer that!"
"It's just an honest question, Dad! If she's that annoying, then why do you look at her and see that she's safe?" Sasuke didn't dare move. He was nowhere near comfortable about this topic! But, his heart was pounding. He could feel his palms getting sweaty and couldn't stop blushing scarlet red cheeks. "I'm waiting!"
"Rain!" A female voice called. Both looked to see Sakura there, looking rather annoyed. "Did you ask Naruto to follow me to see if Banka didn't try to ask me out?!"
"What?!" Rain asked, surprised. "No, you'd think I'd go that low?! Come on!"
"MOVE IT!" Sakura screamed, causing Rain to freeze and bolt to find Naruto. Sakura stood there, making sure Rain did exactly as she was told. Sakura then calmed down and relaxed her face. It was at that moment that Sasuke saw her face and noticed how it began to glow in the lowering sun. He didn't realize it, but he was studying every single color she had. Her jade green eyes were deeper than any other Jade, and her hair was the same color as a cherry blossom, beginning to bloom.
~oOo~
Sasuke laid there and began to wonder how she was doing. It'd have to be a while before he could see her, again. He didn't want Madara or Taka to know that he was secretly seeing someone from the Leaf Village - What's going on?! He wasn't actually seeing her, more like making sure she was safe - that was even worse! With every other explanation he could think for himself, it was worse than the last! Sakura. Was. Annoying.
"If she's that annoying, then why do you look at her and see that she's safe?"
That question popped into his head again. Did he indeed love her? Was revenge on the Leaf Village worth it? Was loneliness and isolation worth being strong? Nothing made any sense. Orochimaru had him believe that love was a weakness. But that kid. Rain. She was willing to put her life on the line for Naruto. Sakura. Even him! Sasuke! Why? Because Squad Seven meant everything to her. Naruto gave her the heart of a true Shinobi. But, what was stronger? Skills, Physical Strength? Or something that was hard to explain? Heart? All of a sudden, he remembered the question he asked his cousin earlier.
"Do you know a good jeweler?"
At that moment, Sasuke realized that question. What possessed him to ask that?! He knew it wasn't the venom that he got attacked by, for it was completely healed! Or was it - That's it! Rain! He wanted her back to give her the life she deserved from the beginning! For her to know who Sasuke was and to be proud of her bloodline! He looked over and saw blank paper and a pencil on the side table. Where did that come from? Did Shinni sneak them in when he wasn't looking? Made sense. He turned over and looked at the floor. He saw something out of the ordinary. He decided to flip on a light and see what it was. It was a cherry blossom petal. It was the same color as Sakura's hair, and he couldn't help but be drawn to it. Not knowing what he was doing, he picked the petal up and held it in his hand. It looked like half a heart. For one tip of it was ripped off. He couldn't control himself anymore. He placed the petal on the side table, grabbed the paper and pencil, and was up all night.
Chapter 3! YIPEE! And, to top it all off, Shinni's background is revealed! Also, I created Korroa a long time ago, and now there is someone just like him! I couldn't be any more happier! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it! Comments! PLEASE! Also, I'm re doing "A Forgotten Adventure", so I will be sure to have that up!
