The light dissipates, revealing a different form for Lua and Sonne. Lua now has arms, light pink skin, two pairs of long ears - thinner pair on the top and thicker pair to the sides - with purple ends, a long curved antenna coming from her forehead, and a body that looks like a dress. A long pink sash goes around her body, locked by a round moon pin. She can now float. Sonne kept his orange skin. He also has limbs, but unlike Lua, he also has legs and a tail. He has a lot of fur around his face making it look like a mane, and a yellow puff on his chest. Aside from his forehead, his tail and his hands also have flames being emanated.
"It's Lunamon and Coronamon, Anubismon's assistants!" says Bokomon, impressed
"How? That shouldn't be possible!" growls Ogremon
Komet looks at Sonne and Lua to see if they are okay, and gets surprised when she sees their new forms. "Huh? W-what happened? You two… Transformed…?!"
"We do not have time to explain now. Do you give us permission to fight?" asks Sonne
Komet looks around quickly and then at Ogremon. "I guess this is the best-"
Suddenly, a purple fist-shaped projectile is shot at her, but Lua quickly makes Komet drop to the ground, dodging the projectile.
Komet's eyes widen in shock. "What the hell? Can she shoot punches?" She grits her teeth. "Sonne, Lua, do whatever you can to cloud her vision! But be very careful, okay!"
Sonne covers his hands in flames and continuously shoots them around Ogremon. "Coronaknuckle!"
Lua flies over Ogremon and twirls her ears, generating a tornado of bubbles around her. "Lop Ear Ripple!"
"So they can also use magical attacks, huh? It would be extremely helpful if I knew how dangerous the enemy is…" says Komet, clenching her fists.
Bokomon clumsily approaches her from behind, making sure Ogremon can't see him. "I-I can help you with that!"
He grabs a book out of his pink band and opens it. A light comes out of it with a few 0s and 1s and some glyphs floating around. Then an image of Ogremon appears over the open book like a hologram. "Ogremon. Level: Adult. Ogremon is usually a Digimon that loves battles. It has immense physical strength and a violent temperament. Loves to challenge stronger opponents, which gave it the title of 'Digimon Hunter'. It's intelligent, but when highly provoked, its anger becomes its driving force. Its signature moves are Haouken, where it shoots dark energy from its fist"
Komet listens to him carefully. "'Digimon Hunter', and yet she is here harming weaker Digimon… Thank you, Bokomon! We will stop Ogremon from messing with you!"
Ogremon breaks through the barricade. She looks angrier than ever. "Do you really think this child play will beat me?"
Komet quickly inspects around. "Sonne, Lua, one more time!"
"Coronaknuckle!"
"Lop Ear Ripple!"
"Bokomon! Help me gather some ropes, please! And bring them to me, we are gonna tie her up!" says Komet
"B-but-" Bokomon hesitates
"Don't worry, I will make sure you will be safe!". She waves at him and runs to a different direction
Ogremon breaks through the barricade again, but faster this time. "You are not the smartest person around, are you?"
"Well, I got your club! Does that make you dumber than me then?" says Komet while brandishing the club
Ogremon gets very red in anger, and veins can be seen bulging out of her forehead. She charges at Komet while throwing punch projectiles with no mercy. Fortunately for Komet - or maybe it was all part of her plan - there's a lot of obstacles in the way which she uses as her cover. She then runs into the woods that borders the village and hides behind a tree.
"I really need to establish some way to contact to my friends from far away…" thinks Komet
She lifts her sleeve and reveals her smartwatch. "This still has to work, right?". She presses some bottoms, and the smartwatch projects a holographic menu. This startles Komet, since this is not how her smartwatch normally works. All the functions look the same, but now in a more dynamic interface. "Did the Digital World cause that?"
She goes to the command function, which is where she always gave commands to her AI assistants. The problem is that she can't hear back from them, since the speakers for them were installed in her apartment, not her smartwatch, which means she has to think in a quick way to confirm if their partners got the message, before revealing her position to Ogremon.
She tries to contact them. "Sonne, Lua, can you hear me? If you can, signal that at the sky" she whispers
Komet hears Ogremon approaching violently, so she runs to another part of the woods while getting back to the village, so she can fetch the ropes. While on the run, she sees a fire being shot at the sky, in which she believes it is Sonne.
"Weren't you all brave right now? In the end you are just a rat that I will crush with my bare hands" yells Ogremon
Komet already starts panting tiredly, since is not an athletic person. Her adrenaline is what keeps her moving. She looks at her smartwatch again. "Okay" Komet inhales. "Operation 'beat Ogremon', active. Step one, 'fake out'" says Komet.
Komet is using names of tactics that she already uses for a long time with her partners when they played strategy games together. But this time it's for an actual battle, so she isn't sure if it's going to work the same way, but she doesn't have the time to think about something else. She trusts her partners. She then starts running again, when Ogremon spots her.
"You can't run away forever" says Ogremon, while rushing towards her
That moment, Sonne and Lua appear in her way and use their attacks
"Coronaknuckle!"
"Lop Ear Ripple!"
Ogremon just dodges the attacks and breaks a tree, which almost falls on Sonne and Lua. She laughs "You are getting way too predictable". She then keeps pursuing Komet.
Komet uses the command action again. "Now, 'convergence'!". She keeps running, but way slower this time, since she is almost totally out of stamina. Then, she reaches a dead end: a big pillar of giant colorful blocks with other blocks scattered around is blocking her way. She turns around, and sees Ogremon approaching.
"Nowhere to run anymore! It's over, not-Digimon. I hope you had fun playing hide-and-seek! Your data better make me stronger" says Ogremon, while approaching and cracking her knuckle
Komet uses her last burst of stamina and runs at Ogremon, readying an attack with the club. She then swings the club at Ogremon, but Ogremon easily holds it.
"What a joke! Did you really-"
"Luna Claw!" Lua attacks with her claws, that emit a dark aura from it
Ogremon uses her arm to defend from the attack, and before she could make any snarky comment, Sonne drops from the top of the tree, cladding his body in fire, ramming at Ogremon "Petit Prominence!"
Ogremon falls dizzy from the impact.
"Bokomon, now!" yells Komet
Bokomon clumsily rushes to their spot with a lot of ropes and wires. "Here!" he says. Komet, Lua and Sonne get the ropes and wires and tie Ogremon very quickly, before she can recover from the impact. They add a lot of layers to prevent her from breaking through using brute force.
"You… you did it… You actually did it!" says Bokomon, while opening a big smile
"No, they did not!" yells Ogremon
Ogremon tries to break free from the ropes, but she fails. Then just growls, showing that she gives up. "You won, you bastard. Go ahead and finish me"
"Okay" says Komet. She then raises the club and bonks her on the head.
"Are you mocking me? Just get it over already!" yells Ogremon
She raises one eyebrow. "I'll not kill you! You will stay here and learn your lesson"
The baby Digimon start gathering around them, and start celebrating. Komet and the others hear them saying things like "They are so strong!" and "I want to be like them!".
"Let's go to my room in the school, and then we can talk" says Bokomon
Komet nods and follows Bokomon, while Sonne and Lua drag Ogremon with them. They leave Ogremon outside at the door and get to Bokomon's room, which looks like a little lab with some tools and devices scattered around. Bokomon pulls some chairs for the team to seat, and then turns to them.
"I am Professor Bokomon, the caretaker of the Village of Beginning. I'm sorry for my rude welcome, it's-"
"It's alright, really. Anubismon told me about the Corruption Virus and how Digimon that are aware of the existence of humans blame us for that. I can't say for sure if this is our fault or not, since this is the first time I hear about Digimon. So I can't even tell if it's just an accident" says Komet
"So humans are not aware of our existence, huh"
"Not that I know… By the way! Sonne, Lua, you grew and changed a lot! What happened?"
"This is 'Evolution', it's what we mentioned at the pyramid. When we gather a certain amount of data, we undergo changes, making us stronger" says Sonne
"So… By giving away data to recover my body, you lost the Evolution and reversed… So that means when those babies get enough data, they will grow and get limbs too! But where did you get your data from?"
Sonne and Lua shakes their head
"I have no idea how, but I think your determination to win made you share some data with them, which was just enough to undergo Evolution!" says Prof. Bokomon while impressed
"So, giving or removing more data can change your forms! So, if I do that again…" says Komet
"Not so quick! The more a Digimon evolves, the more data they need to do it for the next level! If you try it again, you might just accidentally kill yourself by giving them too much data!" alerted Prof. Bokomon
Komet swallows hard. "Oh… Okay"
"Changing the subject a little, earlier you said Anubismon sent you to look for me, yeah?"
"Ah, yes! He wants some modifications to be done on my smartwatch, and he said only you could do it here"
"Oh, just for that? That's gonna be an easy task! We can head off immediate-"
Before Prof. Bokomon could finish, a small yellow dinosaur with green eyes bursts the door open. He pants a lot while looking scared, then it gets some air to finally speak.
"P-Prof… An Infected… An Infected is approaching!" says the dinosaur
"Agumon! Please, calm down! You know the procedures. Just send the signal, they will come to purge it" says Prof. Bokomon
"I-I did it, but I got no response! We need to evacuate!"
"N-no response? What happened? H-how close is the Infected?"
Agumon just points outside while shaking.
Prof. Bokomon goes outside. Komet, Sonne and Lua follow after him. They look at the direction where the Agumon is pointing. Not very far into the forest, giant gray pincers stick out of the treetops, seemingly destroying things in their way. They also see a dark aura around these pincers. The creature releases a loud and distorted roar. This alone makes Prof. Bokomon cower and Komet shiver.
"Is that creature coming here now? Then you are all fucked!" says Ogremon, then she laughs loudly
"A-are you acquainted with that creature?" asks Bokomon in distress
"I was trying to beat that monster, but you failed to feed and empower me well! Getting your home destroyed will be a great punishment for that" growls Ogremon
"Wait, are you saying that the infected Digimon was around that area all along, and the only reason it hadn't destroyed the village yet is because you were fighting it for who-knows-how-long?" asks Komet
"Got something wrong with that? Can't I protect my territory anymore?" asks Ogremon
"Since when is the Village of Beginning your territory? You are just a big bully!" says Lua
"It's a zone where I find resources like food, so of course I made it my territory!"
"Theoretically it is noble of Ogremon to fight against threats for that reason. But her attitude towards other people…" says Sonne
"Hey, enough with that bullshit, all I want is to get stronger!" yells Ogremon
"Yeah, shut up Sonne, you shouldn't call that bitch 'noble'" says Lua
Komet looks back at the forest. The threat is drawing near. She can feel the pressure of such a dangerous Digimon. She clenches her fists while her body tries to tell her to run away.
"Professor, can you tell me what Digimon is that?" asks Komet
"Huh? Why? We will run away until help arrives!" says Bokomon
"What? No, we don't have time for that! The babies can't run that fast! The whole village is going to be destroyed! We have to face it!"
"Believe me, human, this is impossible! I will show you why!"
Prof. Bokomon opens his book, and a hologram of a gray stag beetle-like creature with some red markings in their body and dark fur coming out of the back of its head appears.
"Okuwamon. Stage: Perfect. A very aggressive Digimon with destructive impulses. It has enhanced survival instinct, and will try to destroy a threat on sight. In case you don't understand what that means, it's an evolution level higher than Ogremon, an Adult, which is already a level higher than your Coronamon and Lunamon, who are just Child. You already had trouble with Ogremon, you are no match for Okuwamon! Now, let's just go!" says Bokomon, while trying to pull Komet away.
Komet shakes her head. "Do you have an evacuation plan?"
"Erm… Run away and hide…?" says Bokomon
"This won't do" Komet shakes her head again and looks around. "I have a plan"
Komet gives two steps ahead and starts analyzing her surroundings. She keeps looking around, then swallows hard. Lua and Sonne approach her.
"Did I hear that we have a plan to take that bastard down? I'm so looking forward to it!" says Lua in excitement
"Yes, I did say that, but…" says Komet
"'But'...?"
Komet looks at the floor in concern. "I… I just acted on pure impulse now… I shouldn't have said that. I mean, I do have a plan, but it's not perfected… I can't be sure it's going to work, so how-"
"Just execute the plan" says Sonne
"But-"
"We do not have time to analyze all variables and outputs for the plan. We already decided that Bokomon's 'plan' is bad. Do not jeopardize the new plan. Stick to what you have now, it might be just enough to save everyone. I believe in you"
"I second Sonne! Isn't that what we did against Ogremon after all? We improvised, and we won! You are good at that, Komet!" says Lua
Before Komet has the chance to protest, they hear Okuwamon's roar getting closer. Not only that, they also start hearing buzzing noises going in their direction.
"It's flying!" screams Prof. Bokomon in horror
Komet clenches her fists. She didn't want to admit it, but she knew it all along: it's now or never. If she doesn't follow through with her plan, it's over.
"Professor! Baby Digimon shoot bubbles, right?" asks Komet
"Most of them do, why?" answered Prof. Bokomon
Komet looks at the sky and points at it. "Tell them to shoot at the sky. Okuwamon is coming flying, so let's block the sky so that it can't specifically target any of us. Then guide the babies to safety, while we face the creature here!"
Prof. Bokomon looks very nervous while his legs don't stop shaking. "The only reasons I'm trusting you are because I have no other choice and I saw you pulling off a miracle once". He then turns to the baby Digimon, who are all looking worried at him, hoping for good news. He is hesitant about involving them in battle, even indirectly.
"Professor, is there a way we can help?" asks one of the concerned babies
"We want to protect you and our village too!" says another baby
Prof. Bokomon takes a deep breath. "Alright kids! We are going to protect the village! All of you that can shoot bubbles, shoot bubbles at the sky!" he says while pointing at the sky.
Most of the baby Digimon start to shoot so many bubbles that they start to fly high and cover above them. A blue baby Digimon with very small legs and arms, who can't shoot bubbles, approaches Prof. Bokomon.
"Why are your legs shaking?" asks the baby
Prof. Bokomon's face turns red. "I-I am not shaking, I am just moving my legs very fast to keep me warm, that's all!"
Meanwhile, Komet looks at one of the block towers. "According to Professor, the Digimon that is attacking us, Okuwamon, is an insect that will attack their prey on sight. In theory, it has great survival instincts, but when infected with the Corrosion Virus, it becomes just a monster gone berserk… We also need to be careful with the dark miasma it emits, it's very dangerous for Digimon in lower stages, such as Baby and Child…" Then she looks at Sonne and Lua. "Professor said that you two are Child level Digimon, while Ogremon is an Adult"
Sonne and Lua nod.
Komet sees the bubbles floating just high enough to cover most of the village, with the exception of a few pillars. "We have to take that Digimon down in one blow, and there's only one way to make it possible. Sonne, Lua," Komet points at the pillar she is looking at. "I need you two to go to the top of that pillar and take Ogremon with you. She will be our 'bait'"
"I what?" asks Ogremon. Some veins become visible in her forehead in anger.
"Oooooh, you will become a beetle snack now!" says Lua, trying to sound eerie
"Focus on the mission, Lua. Since you have the ability to float, you pull while I push" says Sonne
"You two aren't doing shit! I will kill you even before you reach the middle of that pillar!" grunted Ogremon. She flails to make their task harder.
Komet turns at Prof. Bokomon.
"I think this is enough! Now go hide with the babies, and be far from the range of those pillars" says Komet while pointing at the pillars
An impact noise can be heard from very close now. Prof. Bokomon and all the baby Digimon run out of her sight. Sonne and Lua are almost at the top of the pillar, despite Ogremon's efforts to make them fail. Komet presses the command button on her smartwatch.
"Lower the bait to the fourth block, top to bottom" says Komet
Sonne and Lua follow the order. Just before they are done, Komet hears the buzz again. This time it's going in their direction. Before Komet realizes, Okuwamon is already attacking the bubbles while flying at high speed. The Digimon is very big, way bigger than she expected. By looking at it, she understands why Prof. Bokomon was so insistent in saying that slaying it by themselves is impossible.
"Team Twilight! Okuwamon spotted! It's attacking the bubbles. If it continues like that, it will dive into the buildings. Call its attention to your side ASAP! It has to take the bait before it lands!" says Komet in a serious tone
Sonne shoots fire from one of his knuckles while holding the rope with his other hand, while Lua concentrates an energy ball from her antenna and shoots it at Okuwamon. Ogremon tries to bite the ropes to break free, but still fails. The shots miss, because Okuwamon is moving a lot. A lot of the bubbles have popped at this point, and Komet is almost getting visible. The giant beetle hovers over her without noticing her presence yet. She moves away from it, since its miasma is falling in her direction.
"Team Twilight! Try it again, but this time shake the bait! You have to do everything at your disposal to get its attention!" says Komet, more nervously this time.
She starts to feel very anxious, as her rushed plan is not working as intended. She tries breathing in and breathing out to calm herself down, as there's nothing else that can be done at that point. From the pillar, Sonne and Lua shoot their attacks again. Along with the attack, Lua decides to speak loudly.
"Oh, Ogremon, look at you! From a big baddie to just a worm in a hook! Hey, at least we are in our places: I am above you!" scoffs Lua
"You said what, you motherfucker?" says Ogremon, while her face gets red in anger
Sonne looks shocked at Lua, and before he starts scolding her, Ogremon starts yelling curse words and flailing more than ever.
"Don't worry, it's all part of the plan!" says Lua while winking at Sonne. "Although she deserve these words"
Sonne huffed, but he let that pass. "Forget not, full focus on the mission" he says
The shots miss Okuwamon again, but the commotion is enough to catch its attention. So it turns to their direction and flies at high speed, aiming its pincers at Ogremon, since she is the only prey in its sight. Komet also runs in the direction of the pillars.
"Fuck you!" yells Ogremon
"Three… Two… One… Pull the bait up and jump!" shouts Komet
Okuwamon's pincers go through the first pillar of blocks, but get stuck in the second pillar that was right behind it. Because of that, the blocks fall on it, interrupting its flight and making it fall.
"Team, release Ogremon, now!"
"Luna Claw!" Lua attacks the ropes and cables multiple times.
As soon as she cuts some of the ropes, Ogremon breaks free by using the rest. Lua then floats away from Ogremon and holds Sonne to stop him from free falling. Ogremon tries to grab Lua but fails, so she growls in rage. Komet uses her remaining energy to run as fast as she can.
"Ogremon!" she shouts
Ogremon turns around and growls. "Fuck you!" She gives Komet the middle finger
"Take that! It's your chance to finish it now!" She throws Ogremon's club like a boomerang
Ogremon uses her reflexes to grab the club. If it wasn't for Ogremon's agility, the club would have flown away, because Komet's aim isn't that good. The ogre looks confused at all that, but flashes a confident smile right after because she realizes that she can - and will - be the one slaying Okuwamon. "Nice aim, nerd!" she says, as she grabs her club. Then she does a flip in the air and readies her attack. She concentrates dark energy on her fist, while her club becomes electrified. She tilts her body to fall faster on Okuwamon.
"Savage Haouken Hone Konbou!"
She shoots a giant dark energy projectile shaped like her face from her fist, and immediately follows with a strike with her electrified bone club, hitting right on its head. A crack noise is instantly heard. Ogremon keeps pressing harder, until the head completely breaks open. Okuwamon's body gets a lot of static noise after the fatal blow. It lets out a last shriek before collapsing on the floor. Then it starts to slowly disintegrate into bits of data that are shaped like small colorful squares. A different kind of data - corrupted data - which is shaped like polygonal black moths, also starts to leave the corpse. Instinctively, Sonne uses his fire attack to destroy the corrupted data, since they had no way to transfer it to Anpu yet. The data keeps flying into the air while the bug exoskeleton is all it's left behind, with cracks and some static noise around it.
Prof. Bokomon returns with the babies.
"You… You did it, you really did it!" says emotional Bokomon
"No," says Komet. She shakes her head and opens her arms, and slowly spins in place. "We all did it together!"
